(Translated by Google) I heard that many appointments need to be made in advance, and we were fortunate to have a seat only a few days ago, and it was Sunday. Although I was told that the seat position may not be very good, close to the kitchen position, but the seat position on the day was different. Can also see some small sea views. At 1:30 on the same day, I went up to the 25th floor of the Mandarin Hotel. First I saw a bar and went straight to the Mandarin Hall. The original restaurant range was not imagined. It was surrounded by a strong antique design. I saw a private room. There should be a fence. Most unfortunately, the man in the suit who took us down seemed to be in a bad mood (no expression, no eye contact, flat tone), so he tried not to talk to him. Then, there was a wine frame near our dining table with red and white wine and champagne, and a friendly waiter recommended 蔘 茶 ($ 98 / cup, honey-neutral, tangy but not sweet, moderate taste) It's good to drink, I ended up drinking 2 cups). However, seeing that many guests were drinking and couldn't help but want a glass of champagne, the waitress introduced Heidsieck Brut Rose ($ 398 / cup). The number of snacks can be added or subtracted, and you can order them according to the person's head. Even if a certain number is written on the menu, you can only order 1 or 2 pieces, which is very flexible and considerate! There are three kinds of sauces on the table: soy sauce, watercress sauce and xo sauce. This xo sauce is salty and delicious. We ordered 2 yuan and $ 138/1 per person. There is a bamboo shoot shrimp dumpling king, black pepper and beef crisp and a piece of original abalone chicken. The shrimp dumplings are thin and the shrimp is refreshing; , Wagyu will not eat, but the pastry is good and not greasy; Abalone chicken grains are ordinary * Later it was found that it would be cheaper if the 3 kinds of snacks were scattered!), Spanish Black Pork Grilled Sausages ($ 158. Intestine noodles are sticky and pliable, with meat inside), Golden Hook Salted Water Corner ($ 43 / piece. Fragrant and crispy), Matsutake steamed and sold ($ 25 / piece. Moderate), Spanish Black Haired Pork with Roasted Pork Roasted Pork Pieces ($ 488/6 pieces each. I originally wanted to burn takoyaki for $ 198, but sold out, so this is recommended. The pork roast is moderately thin, the meat is soft and the meat is strong There is less honey and sweetness is much less than usual barbecued pork; suckling pig skin crispy and tender meat, consistent level), caged golden yao crab meat rice ($ 228 / 2-3 people. After serving, the waiter will help us divide into two The bowl is really 2 small bowls in size. The overall taste is lighter, the amount of crab meat and Yaozhu is quite large, so that each rice is very tasty and rich, the rice grains are not soft and hard, personally like rice , So it may be enough for me), and finally I want Yunsang Coconut Poplar Manna ($ 138. Mango and coconut flavor is outstanding, yuzu meat is fresh, just sour and sweetness is just right), and finally a bird cage is sent Underneath, there is coconut milk cake and butterfly crisp ending. Summary: 2 people, 7 dishes (varieties of dim sum, double-flavored siu mei, two bowls of rice and desserts), except for drinks, about $ 1500 * plus one, you can refer to it. I personally think that it will turn back for a caged Jinyao crab meat rice, siu mei and Yun Sang Coconut Yangzhi Ganlu, followed by dim sum.

We went for a romantic dinner there with my girlfriend as we were visiting HK. At first sight, this restaurant is very nice, at the last floor of the Hotel Icon which gives you a very nice view on the bay (provided the windows are clean, which was not really the case). We opted for the 6-course signature sea food menu (988 HKD per person + 10% service charge, 2 person's minimum). The service was prompt - sometime too prompt even making you feel rushed as the 6-course meal lasted less than 90 minutes in total - and the service was not very friendly. The dishes description on the menu was very appealing, but the reality was different : yes, some expensive dishes (lobster, truffle, crab...) were used, but that did not mean the dish was tasty after all. The first course consisted in 3 small samplers (crab beignet, fried oyster and one shrimp with yuzu and some mayo). I was ok, although the crab beignet looked like it was coming from a frozen bag... The second dish was a scallop soup. Was ok too, but nothing to write home about. There was one big scallop and some smaller bits of sea food. The third dish was the grouper fish with some small asian vegetables. The fish, like the overall dish was fine, but there were only 2 small pieces of fish. The wow effect for taste and presentation were both missing... The highlight of the dish should have been the lobster. It was ok, but the chili toppings they added to it were maybe not adequate to my taste. Also, the lobster meat was not removed the shell, as you could expect from a nice restaurant. No ustensils to "work" on the lobster meat were provided either. The best dish of the evening was maybe the fried rice with crab and truffle. The dessert was a joke though : a mango juice in milk with some sago and some "Chinese petit fours" (note the quotation marks here) which consisted in a sesame jelly cube and a mini almond butter cookie, which you can find at the supermarket. When you add petit fours on the menu, you have the right to expect 3-4 small desserts... Add to this the fact they charge a whooping 70 HKD for a pot of warm water (not even tea), one mocktail and one Singapore sling cocktail and you end up with a bill of almost 2500 HKD (300€) and a bitter feeling...

It has an excellent location, beautiful view, but I didn't like the food itself, nor my boyfriend did. I would not recommend it, it is too overpriced for the food, we didn't like.... :( The staff was very well-mannered, maybe even a bit too much. I didn't feel comfortable to eat there, I felt the whole time, like I was being watched. Sorry

We ordered a lunch set with several other dishes. Food quality was great! Nothing to complain about really. A great compliment to the awesome sea view. However, service was only average - we expected more from a Chinese restaurant at this price range, eg taking away empty plates sooner, or being more responsive to our request. Lack personal touch/ interaction overall.

The place is undeniably superb. Wonderful romantic mood and cosy decoration. But the experience I had with the food was for me overpriced. The adviced Pekin duck was maybe prepared by the waiter, but everything in advance, so the bites after the first one we're... Cold. Same for the second serving of the duck. Which was too salty, and still cold. Eating cold in a one star Michelin restaurant is for me really annoying. The presentation was really average for the sweet and sour pork. Nothing fancy at all. About the service. Everybody was present, maybe too much. But I guess the standing of the place requires that. But when two times during the dinner, your plate is taken away while there is still something in it, it doesn't mean good service for me. I spent 1700 hk$ on this dinner for 2 without dessert. Yesterday night I spent 127 hk$ at 'one dim sum' who also has a star at Michelin. The place was not the same, but to be honnest, the quality price ratio was way much higher than the man Wah, which is in my opinion, overpriced. Crackers with a 608 hk$ signature dish ? Really ?

Is there better Dim Sum? In Guangzhou, yes. In Hong Kong, very possibly not. Is there a more elegant and refined venue for Dim Sum? Definitely not! I've been for dinner too, and it's very nice, but Dim Sum is the best meal for Man Wah. Expensive, elegant, perfect service, terrific view, interesting dishes well presented, it has everything, including a particularly rich almond cream dessert.

Amazing dinner location at top of Mandarin Oriental hotel, overlooking central Hong Kong and close to beautiful lit up skyscraper. Interior decor is beautiful. Service excellent. Our server, Tim was first class throughout the meal. Had tasting menu which I highly recommend as an 8 course modern taken on traditional Cantonese cuisine. Would recommend to anyone looking for outstanding, memorable meal while in Hong Kong.

  • 2/5 Chris H. 4 years ago on Google
For the price I’d have expected a lot more. Whilst the appetizers were ‘good’ the Peking duck ‘signature dish’ was altogether devoid of flavor. The service was excellent but for these prices the product needs to be on point, it wasn’t.

Top quality food and excellent wine list. The view is one of the best in Hong Kong if you get a window table. Service is exceptional. And yes, it is very expensive, especially the wines. Easily more than 5,000 HK$ for two people but it's worth it. Recommended.

In addition to the delicious food, the dishes are also very beautiful. In addition to enjoying the taste of the food, you can also enjoy the visual enjoyment. The garlic abalone in the first dish tastes springy and the garlic is irritating, but the umami taste of the abalone is not covered up. The duck foot bag has been cut into pieces for the convenience of guests. The restaurant is elegantly decorated and the dining environment is quieter, suitable for dining with guests. If you come to eat dim sum by yourself, the amount of dim sum can also be halved. The service staff will come to pour tea. The sauce is soy sauce chili and XO sauce. The chili sauce here is too salty Wi-Fi is available In addition to tablecloths and tablecloths, there are also wet cloth towels, which are placed on special plates By the window seat, you can see that the street view of Hong Kong is not too close The service staff will often change the plates for food to keep the plates clean In the case of Dim Sum, this is a level of $ 100 The shrimp dumplings are smaller than expected, the skin is beautiful, the filling is delicious, the siu Mai is also delicious, the truffle dumplings, the skin is too Q, although it is not a vegetarian dumpling, but the taste of the dish is very heavy, it should not be ordered next time , Taro dumplings, delicious fried decoration looks, making dumplings into swan, is also very attractive, if you are willing to eat taro suggested that you can order to eat It is a pity that when eating taro dumplings, the fried scraps were accidentally dropped on the table, and there was no service staff to clean it up, making the table look less beautiful and clean. The decoration of radish cake is also much better than the average restaurant. Sure enough, it has Michelin standards. It has bean sprouts and egg shreds on it. It does not stick to any sauce. It is already tasteful. XO sauce is better The desserts served after dinner are served with a birdcage decoration, which is really special (Original)

The Above & Beyond had one of the finest harbour view on the Kowloon peninsula; it was the Chinese restaurant high up on the top floor of the Hotel ICON erected right next to the tumultuous traffic of Hunghom across-harbour tunnel. The Above & Beyond not only had this stunning view to offer but the yummy and authentic Chinese food to enjoy. Positioned as a fine-dining restaurant on the top floor of a hotel, the price of Beyond & Above was not they main attraction, but having an impressive view in this privilege spot was quite an experience for visitors.

The restaurant boasts of great food with a great view, however it was raining very hard when I went. No matter, I went for the food not the view. And it was truly exceptional, I tried the Australian wagyu which almost melts in your mouth. The lobster with egg white and black truffle is something that your tongue and nose will both enjoy. Wonderful wine collection and service what more can you ask for.

Makes the other Chinese restaurants in HK pale in comparison.

(Translated by Google) It’s almost the Mid-Autumn Festival, and I believe that many people choose to go to the Chinese restaurant to celebrate with family members. This time I went to the Chinese restaurant @aboveandbeyond.hotelicon on the 28th floor of Hotel ICON. The environment is beautiful and has sea views, and the quality of the food is not uncommon. Tonight, I tried his sliced duck set meal, which is cost-effective in terms of the Chinese restaurant in the hotel, but the food can be better refined. The staff service is very good, so overall it is a good dining experience ☺️ - 🦆Pickled duck-The duck is roasted too evenly, half of the roast is delicious, and one side is too hot. The dough is very well done. Although it is thicker, it has a bite bite, which is my favorite taste! - 🌮 First set-All three are well prepared, especially the crispy belly slices are excellent! - 🍳 Smoked eggs with black truffle tea-Liuxin is so beautiful, but in terms of taste, the tea aroma is too light with smoke - 🦀 Crabmeat and bean sprouts are more generous, but the umami is not good - 🦐 Dried prawn balls-the sauce is too strong, the taste and umami of the prawns are lacking - 🍚 Fried rice-the grains are distinct and the seasoning is good. The crispy texture of the sakura shrimp is very good! - 🐷 Boiled three-layer meat with ice-The parts and quality of the pork are all correct, fat and lean, and there is gravy. But the skin is not so crispy (Original)

I can say the taste of all of the dim sum are not that bad and honestly to the pricing it is good enough. However the lunch experience is a bit bad and the services can be improved. The tea we requested was sold out and none of the staff update us and even we waited for 10mins. Moreover, one of the desert we waited 30mins and then told us it is not ready. Only 1 staff is providing a better services to us and he also give us the bonus desert. The hotel should appreciated his services to let me keep the stars for the comments.

We had lunch recently at this gorgeous Chinese restaurant. Located on the top floor of the hotel, one get a friendly welcome at the reception desk and is escorted to the table. The restaurant manager immediately comes to your help with the menu and makes some great suggestions. The service is smooth, refined and of high standards. The food is exquisite, full of flavours and so authentic. In conclusion, great place, modestly priced and worth for a repeat. Highly recommended.

Good, pricey restaurant with tasty duck and other Chinese fare dishes. We had a seat by the window and enjoyed the view of the Harbour while watching the light show. It was amazing. Great attentive service and a wonderful evening out in these times of Covid.

Amazing food and great view. It was a shame we didn't realise you had to book Peking duck one day in advance, so we couldn't have that. Chose chicken instead which was very tender.

We went for dim sum celebrate our friends birthday. The food was quite good and the restaurant has a very good view of the harbour. Our favourite dishes were the custard buns, egg tarts, and the shrimp rice rolls. The only let down was the deep fried cubed tofu, which was pretty flavourless. Overall, it was a great experience up until the end when we encountered a single rude staff while paying our bill. The other staff such as our servers in the concierge were great.

This is a great restaurant. Great view of the harbor, and the island, and the food is very tasty. The service is absolutely outstanding. My wife and I ordered dim sum, but didn't know we ordered too much for two people, so the staff recommended that they give us 2 pieces (when you originally get 3/4 pcs) and reduced the price proportionally. They could have easily just made us the food and didn't care, but they went out of their way to helps us, and essentially charge us less money and reduce food waste!

Food portion too skimmed for larger groups of customers although food quality and tastes are good. Service was not impressive as they wouldn't allocate table next to windows although it's available. They said it's too small for our group. Obviously they didn't want to bother moving tables around to serve customers' need. I would recommend other places offering better services than this place.

The seaview is really nice and so as the food. However, you need to book in advance at least a few weeks before. The sweet and sour pork is as good as the one in mandarin oriental. The sea cucumber with tofu is also very nice. However, the staff service can be further improve because they are not really attentive to customers. You may have to wave at them quite a few times before you can ask for help.

I decided to book Above & Beyond as a special meal to treat my parents when visiting Hong Kong. The restaurant boasts fantastic views over Hong Kong harbour but seems to rely heavily on this as the restaurant’s efforts with service and food is severely lacking. We were rushed into our table and promptly told there was no peking duck and a few other dishes had finished. When the food did arrive it was really disappointing. Some dishes were clearly prepared with old oil giving off a bitter aftertaste. Another dish had some very odd meat substitute protein which was really unpleasant. The cocktails were at least tasty and went down well. Overall, this was a very expensive meal which did not do a good job at showcasing Cantonese food or hospitality. Better food can be found in the many cooked food markets around Hong Kong for a tenth of the price. Staff said absolutely nothing when we left, no ‘thank you’ ‘we hope you enjoyed your meal.’ Very poor overall.

The overall experience was alright. Service wasn’t spectacular for a place like this. Food wasn’t the greatest either. There were a few hit or miss but would recommend the roasted pigeon which was pretty tasty. Atmosphere and ambience gave the push for this place. Would recommend booking this place a month in advance to get the corner view of HK.
