Went here to celebrate an anniversary. We ordered the $398/pp set dinner with the juicy lobster rice. All the tapas dishes were pretty good, with my personal favourite being the gambas al ajillo. The rice wasn't really worth paying an additional sum of $68/pp in my opinion- there was very little lobster meat. One thing though, the staff were super nice and enthusiastic despite having to celebrate birthdays/anniversaries for nearly every table for the whole night. They made our night!

Nice and full brunch menu served. The atmosphere of the restaurant and warm and cozy. Waiters are all very friendly and helpful. Appetizers and Tapas are delicious and well portioned. Unfortunately we didn't try the signature lobster rice cause one of us is allergic to seafood. But we all enjoy the meal.

My friend and i are probably not really hungry so we decided to have a simple dinner tonight the place is located at 239 hennessy road the restaurant looks old model the ambience is good, lights are so dim if you have poor eyesight must bring eye glasses otherwise you probably can't clearly see the menu you should turn the lights on of your phone for your convenience and since it's friday a bit busy so expect the noisy environment the washroom is unhealthy condition thanks for the friendly staffs other staffs have a poor memory they forgot to put a napkin pr cloth on the table and a cream cheese for our bread. THE FOOD MAIN MENU for my choice *SPANISH TURBOT FISH* . Marinera style prawn, squid with tomato sauce, garlic and onion. Great taste not salty and sour. *MY SALAD* . SPINACH SALAD . Baby leaves, apple puree, sundried grapes & nuts. Healthy one *DESSERT* . FLAN . Egg flan, lemon cream, almond crunch Eventhough you are on diet you can try this one it's not so sweet as you expect. Anyway 10stars for the food. See yah til next time! Recomended.

Was really looking forward to our weekend brunch here after seeing all the great reviews. However, we weren't very impressed with the dishes and felt that they fell short of our expectations. The starters and tapas were average and nothing to rave about. Only saving grace was the Juicy Lobster Rice which you have to top up $ for. The dish came with a whole lobster so we thought it was pretty good value for money. The rice was well cooked and wasn't too wet for us. Portion was just nice for 2 pax. As for the desserts, would definitely recommend the brownie which was rich and not too sweet. Overall, worth a try but only for the lobster rice.

Deliciously satisfying dinner at The Optimist. Not crowded, and well spaced dining area. Thank you for the hospitality from all staff members, very much appreciated. Food for the soul if you are looking to enjoy a meal to share amongst friends. Good portion size, and great blend of flavours. #chefskiss

Love The Optimist, everything worked just fine! as a top class restaurant should be! Haven't been back for a while. The food, drinks, service were as great as before. A star short from me in 'Atmosphere' was attributed to the proximity of tables, guess it's a fact of life of Hong Kong. The cheeses have been our favourite, we ordered cheeses 😊 every time we came along with other dishes.

One of wanchai’s jam for H/H. Lunch menu is just nothing special but Dinner or H/H is very special. You can understand the reason why people come here for drink. nice mood, lovely wine, good food.

Apart from being very difficult to book a table (or to contact them), it is a good restaurant worth trying. We did the dinner feed me menu and paid to have the lobster rice + 2 signature sangria (must order) for 10people. It was around 7k with tips. Loved the entree (fried potato/prawns/cheese and salami/grilled capsicum etc). The mains were two different fish dishes, lobster rice, steak, roast chicken, mushroom - they were all nice apart from the tomato fish dish that was just alright. They also did birthday singing / photo taking etc which was nice. Good place to go to for a celebration.

Loved the charcuterie and the eggs. Large main portions than expected (which was great). Snapper and Ribeye are also good choices. Probably will visit again.

The tapas are very good, ordered the Iberico ham croquette, Fried calamari, slow cooked octopus which were all up to snuff. The iberico pork also very tasty. The burnt basque cheesecake quite good too. We ordered a btl of Prosecco too.

I celebrated my birthday there! This restaurant is famous for giving someone a surprise! The staff sang birthday song to me! Their food is up to standard, quite like fusion Spanish food ! Will go there again !

Everything was wonderful. I especially liked having the comfy cushioned booth by the door. The vibe and atmosphere were on point and the staff were attentive and efficient. The best thing about The Optimist is their happy hour. The excellent prices offered during that time is very tempting and makes me want to return again and again!

We had a blast during our last visit! I've been coming back ever since but I'm so happy that my friends got to experience the WOW service and yummy food at Optimist. Laziel and all the staff has always been attentive and accommodating. We really felt special and taken care of during my friend's special day. Definitely will always come back.

Lunched here with colleagues, food was pretty good, although I was quite disappointed with the steak (it tasted like there wasn't not a single speck of salt came into contact with it). Limited alcohol selection but it was quite cheap price wise.

We had a lovely birthday dinner at The Optimist. The food was full of flavors. We particularly enjoyed the Beef Cheek and the Kong Prawn. The service was excellent; the staff sang us a birthday song and gave us Churros even though they are technically not on the menu. They have the Churro Bao but not Churros on their own because they're traditionally served at breakfast.

We went for celebrating our anniversary. Their arrangement was really lovely! We were also very happy with the food, environment & atmosphere as well as the service. It's really worth to go again where there is a wonderful place for a group of people or even just 1 person

Went there for the afternoon tea set. Great food and drinks, especially the toasted bread with Iberico ham and another one with octopus. Great price for such good quality food. It was so good that we even ordered the oysters afterward, not to mention the amazing service and atmosphere! Definitely a place I would recommend to go for any occasion, and I will absolutely return to try everything on their menu!

We celebrated my friend’s birthday at the Optimist. Delicious food was served in a good ambiance and lighting! The service was really good! I highly recommend this restaurant! Note: The handwriting birthday message was impressive!

The food is not bad, but the portions are a bit small for us. The best dish was the broken egg, it was delicious! The service was excellent as well.

Wonderful dinning experience, delicious brunch at a good price and you will have numerous traditional Spanish dishes! Suggested to try the juicy lobster rice as your main!

Finally have the chance to try this restaurant which I bookmarked long time ago, and definitely didn't disappoint me. The food is great and especially love the lobster rice. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Would come back to try more food on menu.

Had the most wonderful time in the cosy Northern Spanish hub. I thoroughly enjoyed the service at The Optimist. Great ambiance and even better, the drinks selections at the bar packed a lot to choose from. I was even served a surprise cocktail towards the end of my evening by their lovely barmaid. I highly recommend this place for a night out with friends or just a place to unwind.

Had lunch with my friend to celebrate her birthday. Good food, nice environment, friendly staff. Liked all the food except the red snapper. It’s a great place to celebrate birthday. My friend is a shy person I therefore skipped the birthday song part for her. This restaurant’s special arrangement, a team of 4-5 staff would sing a birthday song to the guest when serving the dessert. We were happy to have lunch here. We shared the joy of the others as we heard birthday song 3 times during our lunch.

Had team dinner here before Christmas and the food did not disappoint. Firstly the portion of the food is good and they were all delicious. But it was slightly warmer than we would have liked. Desserts were good too.

Had such a great night here with friends. The vibes were amazing, the waiters were super passionate and attentive. It was such a joyous night as you can hear the waiters singing happy birthday every hour and you can tell they are enjoying it. The food was very delicious. We very much enjoyed the tapas we had and the lobster rice. Yet I was slightly disappointed that paella was not on the dinner menu. Would like to come back again.

We loved this place! The brunch set at weekends is quite expensive, but I'd say it's worth it. The starters and desserts were heavenly, though the chicken I had was rather dry.

This was one of the most enjoyable brunch recently that I had. Food was great especially the grilled pork ribs that just melt in your mouth. The bread got me wanting more but I really dont wanna stuff myself up before the main. Staffs are friendly and efficient and they never try to have a quick turn around.

My family visited for my dad's birthday and we had a lovely time! The service + atmosphere is great, and so is the food. We especially loved the ribs, lobster risotto, and the broken eggs :)
