We do not have many South Indian restaurants in Hong Kong…. Woodlands is one of the few good ones serving classical South Indian along with North Indian food. We went to the Tsim Sha Tsui outlet … (they have one in Wan Chai also now) and had there dosa, idli and vada… I enjoyed the rasam vada and masala dosa with spicy chutney powder … chilli paneer is very good … let me know what was your experience …

Absolutely loved this place, I stumbled on it by mistake but what a perfect mistake ot was! Serving vegetarian indian food with a large vegan menu! I ate a masala dosa which was huge and so delicious, I also shared a vegan thali with my friends and every single dish on the plate was beautiful! The staff were super helpful explaining the dishes to us, and also really friendly! The restaurant itself is super clean and organized and very well presented! I will definitely be returning here for more delicious indian food!

Unbelievable food. That was undoubtedly the most delicious Indian meal I've ever had. Well done to the restaurant for serving incredible vegetarian cuisine. Wonderful service by literally everyone that helped us. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. High quality, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. Definitely worth every penny.

Woodlands should be ashamed of serving disastrous food in the quarantine facility everyday to locked up Indians. The rotis are undercooked, rice served was too thick. On some days curries ddnt have vegetables and worst is the chutney/poha etc that was served was all stale. Inspite of passing on multiple feedbacks they didnot care to make any improvements. My stomach ached for almost 5 days after eating their food. I would not recommend Woodlands to anybody

One of the best Indian Vegetarian restaurants in Hong Kong. The paper masala dosa and pani puri are must try. Absolutely authentic Indian food and friendly staff. Really love all the unique flavors in their food. Only downside is that it does not serve alcohol.

Hotel concierge recommended this Indian restaurant. Seems busy and looks nice. Ordered Chilli panner, Bhindi Masala, Signature dish. Ordered too much. Signature dish wasn’t impressed but Bhindi Masala is hot and good.

Having lived in India for 12 years and eaten Indian food in probably 50 countries around the world, this has to be some of the best outside of the Motherland. The vegetarian Thali was stunning. Absolutely delicious, amazing service, fantastic food, decent prices for the quality you get. 100% Recommended to anyone who likes authentic Indian food to come to this place.

One Of My Favourite Place To Eat North Indian Thali! This restaurant has recently been renovated and they have added lot of "Vegan" dishes as well. If you are visiting this place then do not forget to try their Paper Masala Dosa. Mr.Mahesh, the manager is very welcoming and if you ask him for some recommendations, he is happy to help you. Their quality of food is excellent.

Pleasantly surprised with these Indian vegetarian dishes. An indian friend brought us there so trust that it’s authentic. Quite flavourful, the pani puris are really nice (could be a bit more crispier). Ended up getting too much food but we were happy.

The curries were good, especially considering price, but: 1. The restaurant's cleanliness needs improvement. The mirror lining our booth had a lot of grimy fingerprints, and things just looked rather dusty and not clean. 2. They serve cheap-tasting short-grained rice, despite the menu photos showing long-grained basmati-looking rice. The waiter had confirmed it was basmati before we ordered. I suppose that was just a miscommunication though, not deceptive. (Updated after owner's response: Regardless of authenticity and origin, the rice grains resemble cha caan teng rice. Check my picture. Guests who expect basmati rice based on the menu photos will be disappointed.) 3. The manager/host guy has kind of a hostile vibe. I don't expect luxury service at a budget restaurant, but I dunno, just felt unwelcoming. As HK has lots of good Indian restaurants, I don't think I will go back here unless I'm in the area and nothing else looks good.

First time dining at this restaurant with friends who were visiting Hong Kong, and the food is beyonce expectations. The restaurant is popular and people keep coming in during the time we were there. The fact that there were many local Indian family dining in that restaurant then you know the food is good.

Woodlands is one the best Indian vegetarian restaurant located in Tsim Sha Tsui area in Kowloon, Hong Kong. You can enjoy all Indian food including North Indian & South Indian food during your stay in Hong Kong. We were surprised to see Maharashtrian staple food Vada Pav in HK 😊 Just loved it. Woodlands serves delicious and high quality food with beautiful ambience. It was nice to meet Woodlands team. Thanks Woodlands team for maintaining the Indian food quality and standard in Hong Kong 👍👍👍

I had the pleasure of dining at Woodlands Restaurant in Hong Kong, and I can confidently say it is the best Indian food I have ever tasted, not just in Hong Kong but anywhere. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes, all expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients and authentic spices. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The dosas were crisp and flavorful, the curries rich and aromatic, and the desserts were the perfect ending to a delicious meal. What truly sets Woodlands apart, however, is their commitment to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Woodlands Restaurant to anyone in Hong Kong craving authentic Indian cuisine. You won't be disappointed!

Woodland is one of the best place among all the vegetarian Indian cuisine in Hong Kong, good variety on the menu and very reasonable price. It’s definitely a good spot if you want to try something healthy vegetarian Indian food. Appetiser (Free) ???? complementary Crispy roll. Dahi Batata Puri (Hk$65) ???? This round hollow puri was light and crispy, stuffed with potato mixture, yoghurt and chutney, then showered with thin crisps and coriander on top. The flavour of this little ball was great and has just the right amount of creaminess without being too heavy, it was a light and refreshing starter to kick off our meal. Paper Masala Dosa (HK$70) ????? This paper thin, crispy wafer-like Paper Masala Dosa was filled with a mildly spiced potato masala and served with coconut chutney, tomato chutney and Sambar. It is flavourful to dip with all these condiments with your Dosa, the portion is huge that good enough for two to share. Vegetable Biriyani (HK$70) ???? This is the fried rice with mixed vegetables served alongside with yogurt salad, veggie curry. The basmati rice was fried with spices and veggies, it was packed full of flavourful and aromatic spices. Masala Tea (HK$35) ???? This cup of masala tea was contained with a mixture of spices and herbs, it was good to keep your body warm especially during winter days. Mango Lassi (HK$35) ???? A delicious blend of mangoes and yogurt, creamy and refreshing.

Very good food and and prices are also reasonable. They turned off the AC after 9pm, that's my only complain otherwise good. They also add 10% of service tax on original bill, which is not so usual. I don't know if they have mentioned it anywhere in menu.

Excellent veggie choice in east tsim sha tsui. Plenty of options from thali to curry. We ordered a set for two with one main course and two starter. Though the portion looks tiny in photo but already got us full half way. Special recommendation to the North Indian thali combo. Photogenic!

The food tasted good, I love the paneer dosa. Dosa is a bit oily, but it is crispy and soft, paneer is nice too. The woodland special thali is okay. Like the chickpeas, spinach, and some of the dishes. The dessert is a bit too sweet for me, but my friend enjoy it. Service was okay, nothing too extraordinary.

I had the Woodlands Thali. It had a great selection of curries. The taste was very authentic and the portion size was very generous. I sadly wasn't able to finish it all. The heat level was just right for me, but if you like your food spicy then you should ask them to spice it up for you. The waitress was very helpful and explained the difference between the Thalis. The environment was modern and hygienic.

Great food, great hosting and cozy place. Woodlands is a place not only for vegetarian but all food lovers😋 All dishes are so authentic, tasty and decent! All of us were so enjoyable and love the food so much which we were served. Some may not know much about Indian food and may had misunderstood just taste "curry alike" to allcl indian dishes or just spicy. But you can enjoy a huge variety of heartfelt dishes which looks good and taste awesome. They can also serve vegan dishes so no worry about your stomach, as they have also selected quality ingredients. Some of us are 100% meat lovers but have thumbs up for the entire night😘😘 and that may cause 100% change your impression to Indian food!! This is beyond Veggie 👍👍 Highly recommended to ask the staff of Woodlands for advises if you have really no ideas what should pick. I believe you will enjoy as much as I did! Must come more often to try other different dishes...with more people! This is the only way to taste more while can share😁

Woodlands has been around in Hong Kong since 1981, longer since I have been here. I heard of it when I asked for curry recommendations but I didn't really know my way round those days. In a way, I am glad I didn't try it earlier even though I have had countless of Indian meals because my knowledge of Indian food is better now. There has been a big change to Woodlands too, they have redesigned the restaurant and menu so diners get a fine experience. There was so much to choose from especially my favourite rices, they had tomato, coconut, yoghurt and even lemon rice. It was hard choosing a rice as lemon rice and yoghurt rice (curd rice) are my favourites. They even have JAIN curries to cater for people on a Jain Diet. The staff spoke good English so this place is expat friendly and they even have zero alcohol beer and zero alcohol wine per glass/bottle which can be ordered or you can buy them at Maharaja Mart. It is pretty amazing, you can get Zero alcohol Rose, Red and Whites!! Ended up ordering drinks as the selections were worth trying. They had pineapple lassi and my favourite Jal Jeera with soda. Pineapple lassi is a great option for people who do not like mango. Jal Jeera is just something I like because of the sourness and punchiness! For food, started on the Onion Rava Dosa which stayed crispy all the way through the meal and they serve it without oil which makes it healthy. The texture is similar to crispy French galettes and they taste tasty with or without the sambar. Next were the mains, the vegetable fried noodles were sooooooooooooooo delicious. They were soft and flavoured with lots of spices. Luckily they asked how spicy I wanted the noodles because I often forget they are spicy and end up not finishing it because it is too spicy. The lemon rice and the spinach mushroom curry were great together. Again the lemon rice is good on its own and I appreciate they used button mushrooms in the curry and not Asian Shitaake mushrooms. Will definitely be back again and it is now easier getting here as it is right near an MTR exit unlike the old days!

The Woodlands is something of an institutional place in the TST and TST East area of Hong Kong, having offered up vegetarian and jain friendly meals in the area since 1981. A few years ago they were taken over by new owner and management who re-energised and spruced up their place on the 2nd floor of the Wing On Plaza with new and vibrant decor, updated restaurant website and menu and better overall dining experience for patrons. Now, you find a brightly lit place with nice sized seating area and a wide range of Northern and Southern Indian vegetarian cuisine all of which is well described on their website if you are less familiar with Indian cuisine. Woodlands also offers take-away and delivery, which you can order through platforms like deliveroo or directly through their website. Opening hours are 11.30-3.30pm (lunch) and 6.30-11.30pm (dinner) daily. We recently ordered delivery through their site, finding prices better there compared to other delivery order platforms for HK. Our order arrived in 45 minutes and the food was very, very good. Poppadums and dips were fine. The vegetable samosas were nicely fried and stuffed with a fragrant combination of potato, veg and cumin. These were filling and tasted perfect. Even more impressive was the tasty Northern Thali which included six very good servings of dal, a light flavoured channa masala and vegetable kurma, two more medium spicy curries and sweet order along with raitha, pickle, bowl of pulao rice and two chapati. It was a very large serving of flavourful food and a very good value for money order. Overall, a nice showing from Woodlands Vegetarian Restaurant in TST East. There are a handful of good Indian restaurants in this area of the city, this is one we look forward to enjoying again in the near future.

Grew up going to the original branch and wanted to check out the new one. It's been over 30 years since I went to the original. We've been to the new one twice. The food was quite different between visits. While the food could be better (it's more than passable), the service is excellent. The manager and waitresses are all lovely. The manager totally understands what a vegan diet involves too which is cool. I miss the smell of the fermenting batter at the original location (I hated the smell as a kid, but it's nostalgic). This location is quite a bit nicer, and always very busy.

Great and tasty vegetarian food. Have a go for the Thali set end you will not be hungry right after. Would be nice if Woodlands could adopt the idea of rice and basic curry refill just like how it's done in other Woodlands in different country.

Tried dal and spinach potatoes. Ordered vegan, more spicy, less oily. The alu palak was just ok, a little on the mushy side compared to what I tried at other places. The dal was lukewarm and bland, I don’t think they would be proud of it if they tried it themselves. Finished everything and feeling healthy, but not as satisfied as I expected to be. Cozy interior, good and honest service, 500+ Mbit/s WiFi. Well-priced. Will probably return to try more.

Very nice vegetarian restaurant with many options for vegan and Jain people. It was my second time here and although I'm not vegetarian, I can not express how much I like the food; really nice and tasty, well presented dishes not to mention the amazing Masala Chai. Karishma is a nice, friendly and knowledgeable Captain who took care of us by suggesting the must try dishes and never hesitated in approaching our table to check if we need anything. The place is very close to Tsim Sha Shui MTR, easily accessable. Thanks to the team , I would definitly recommend this place.

The best Indian vegetarian food in Hong Kong, by far. Highly recommend the Special Thali set, and the butter masala dosa. Servers were extremely friendly and on point. You’ll leave the restaurant full and satisfied.

Woodlands is one of the oldest vegetarian resto in Hong Kong and I'd say, it really isn't surprising that it managed to be still open after all these years and one for the books, they survived the harsh covid protocol which most businesses have not. It was a highlight for us to be able savour their set they are known for which is the Thali and the sweet lassi. Plain dosa was still the same size as it used to be and still delicious! Worth going back there indeed!

This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Hong Kong, and it’s 100% vegetarian. Whether you’re veg or not, if you like Indian food this is really a must. The place is really simple but the staff is always so nice and the flavors are just incredible! My personal favorites are the Paper Dosa Masala and the starters.

A fantastic resturant. Well decorated and with a warm cozy feel. Food was tremendous, lots of choice for vegetarian, vegan and Jain diets. Great staff as well. The place opened at 6 and was near capacity within 30 minutes, obviously very popular. I look forward to going again.

Amazing vegetarian Indian experience. The Woodlands Special Thali had so much variety and each curry was so different but equally delicious! They had a big vegan selection and the vegan Thali was also very delicious! Would definitely recommend a visit here!

Food was amazing. If you really crave for Indian meal in Hong Kong it’s a great place. It really made us feel comfortable and kids were happy too. They served us water which was the most wonderful thing. They simply followed Indian traditions 😇 thank you 🙏🏻

Pleasant Surprise for First-Timers! I recently visited Woodlands, the Indian Vegetarian restaurant, for lunch with a friend who had never tried Indian cuisine before. We were both pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The staff was friendly and accommodating, providing excellent service throughout our visit. As first-timers to Indian food, we relied on the recommendations of the staff to guide our choices. The menu offered a diverse selection of vegetarian dishes, and each item we ordered was a delightful journey of flavors. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite.

Ive been looking for good dosa for years, as its a favorite dish that my home city completely lacks. Thankfully, these are easily some of the best dosas I've ever had. Additionally, the restaurant and staff are both lovely and the prices are reasonable.
