Cultural conservation is hardly done especially architectural one in Hong Kong. This private owner/collector made a good effort to make this happened. Should take a guided tour for all the little stories.

(Translated by Google) The third-level historical building is used as the site of the museum. The three-story building is full of decorative arts and incorporates modern cultural elements. The purpose of the museum is to arouse public interest in photography and cultivate a culture of appreciating the art of photography. The carefully selected rare and rare cameras, books and photographic works are expected to achieve the desired purpose. The F11 Foto Museum is a specialist attraction, making use of a Grade 3 historical building from the 1930s. The property is of subtle Art Deco architecture and a nice venue for rare photography exhibitions which are held here throughout the year. Within the museum, you will see rare cameras, phones, books and Art Deco furniture. At present, there is an exhibition of photos of Hong Kong in 1959-60 by influential Dutch photographer, Ed van der Elsken (1925-90). The exhibition includes around 150 images and an entry of HK$100 per person. The exhibition is curated well and offers a wonderful opportunity to view life on the streets of Hong Kong during a time long past and much different to what you see in the modern era. The information brochure provided with your ticket is generic information about the exhibition only. If you have a mobile with data plan you can scan a barcode in the museum. This gives you access to an online guide with information about the various photographs. Unfortunately, information is mostly in Chinese with limited English text. There are a few audio stops in English describing a handful of the images. These were nice to listen to. Overall, the exhibition is visually rewarding and we were glad to have attended. At the high price of HK$100, a better job was expected for providing English language details for the pieces on display. This is something for them to think about for future exhibitions.

Sorry I had to give this rating but there are no clear indications that this is a by appointment only museum. I wasted an hour getting there and then finding out that it was closed. Also I was checking now to make an appointment on their website and it seems that there is nothing available on the forcible future. This leads me to believe that this place is permanently closed.

There isn't a official photography museum in Hong Kong, F11 as a privately funded museum offers a unique point of view of Leica cameras exclusively.

A really good insight into the history of Leica! We especially liked the building, the way it has been renovated and of course, the collection of Leicas. Only suggestion would be, maybe introduce a small café! 😀

Nice museum in a heritage building. Good ambience, top notch exhibition and fascination Leica room. Admissions a bit pricey at HKD100 but well worth the time and expense

Very nice, small photography museum. Can see that it’s the dedication of enthusiasts behind it. Only negative: Their website is poorly maintained. Still had ‘closed for Christmas’ there in February. Couldn’t even find out whether there is any exhibition currently. The art industry is suffering during these Covid-19 times. If they make it then so difficult for visitors to find out if they are even open, I’m not sure how long they will survive.

My tribute to the owner who built this private museum for photo lovers. The exhibition is nicely curated and it is an excellent place to promote photo culture in Hong Kong.

In another world it could be one man's ego, but it manages to be self-effacing enough to actually be a rather personable, humble, very human tour of Hong Kong's history. Even keeps the room full of Leica gear/history upstairs and out of the way.

This was my first visit to the Foto Museum. The exhibition of photos of Audrey Hepburn was excellent. Displayed very nicely. This is a beautiful building and very easy to find.

Definitely a hidden gem in Hong Kong. We went for the exhibition of old Hong Kong photos, but also loved the camera exhibition, a must for any photography or Leica fan. The building itself is nicely renovated, and in itself already a reason to visit.
