Queen's Island Urgent Care - Kahala

Urgent care center

😠 I don't understand why the front desk people at all these places are so weird. Just be a helpful person. Be kind. No reason for hostility and a lecture. People often mention care, time, room, doctor, Briceno, waiting, kind, urgent,

Very slow (waited almost 2 hours). Dr. Nguyen was in the room for less than 1 minute and seemed in a hurry to get out. Looked at the swollen area and said, "looks like a bug bit. If it gets bigger you should go to the ER." That was not comforting. Then they called the prescription in to the wrong locations (asked to have it called into Long's at Kahala Mall - directly across the street. Was sent to the Long's -Pali Hwy)

I don’t normally write reviews, this was such a terrible experience I felt compelled to! And honestly the front desk staff were so kind - this review is about the actual medical care. I came in with a very painful ear infection, knowing that it needed to be removed from my ear. Dr. Briceno told me he could not remove - that he was worried he would damage my ear drum. I later found out this to be untrue. Gave me drops and sent me with my painful ear away! They didn’t seem to care… Went to a walk in medical clinic at Ala moana where they removed the painful infection. Would still have my ear infection if did as directed by queens urgent care/Dr Briceno.

no one left in waiting room (people left because they were waiting over 1;5 hours and no one else in waiting area ) had a blunt head injury after waiting for over 1;5 hours to even get into a room with only one person being treated still.. nurse told me they would not be able to treat me after waiting all of this time but they would triage me to the er. why oh why I asked they couldn't tell me this at check in ?.. nurse told me the director did not want to make it seem that they were refusing treatment. ridiculous waste of time for anyone needing help. seriously wasting someones time while they are very sick and hurting will not return

Location is very convenient and the urgent care is really nice and modern. The receptionist was very pleasant and patient. The MA was very efficient and personable. The physician, Dr. Wei was thorough and engaged. I was in and out in 45 minutes total. I’m going back there again!

Since the lowest rating is one star, that would go towards the minimal wait time it took to get in to see a doctor. However, this visit was a waste of time and I won't ever return. Dr. Briceno lacked confidence the moment he walked into the exam room, looking at me asking what the problem was and stating that he has never heard of this situation before even examining my 89 year old mother. He only examined her through her denim shorts and shirt, moving her joints to determine flexibility and that it might be nerve issues. He didn't address the pain she was experiencing. I had to ask if he even palpated the areas she was experiencing pain in because I was present and it didn't look like it to me. When I asked if it could be due to stress, his reply was "what kind of stress could an 89 year old woman possibly have? She's retired so doesn't have to work, must get able to get a lot of sleep, can relax..." I told him my dad (her husband) is currently in the hospital so that is very stressful for her. We don't need the judgement of what he perceives her life to be like. Family asked me upon return what was wrong, my reply was it was a waste of time and I knew from the moment he walked in the room that it wasn't going to be good. I even double checked his embroidered scrub to be sure he was a doctor. The next evening my mom was writhing in pain. This is when I looked at her skin, something Dr. Briceno could have done, and noticed a rash in the area she was complaining about the pain. I guessed it was shingles, and thankfully we found an excellent doctor at the Straub urgent care at Ward who immediately agreed and diagnosed her and gave us the correct prescription (any prescription) with useful information. I go to urgent care to be examined by a doctor. My mom didn't experience this at Queens. I should have gone with my gut and asked if there was another doctor present for a second opinion. That really was a waste of time and she could have been better two days sooner.

Came in to get a Covid test for my brother, mom and some kind of medicine that’s supposed to reduce the stress and life of my symptoms. The front desk staff were rude as hell. He was going to charge my mom out of pocket instead of using insurance for saying she had a “scratchy” throat instead of a “sore” throat, because having a scratchy throat wasn’t a symptom of Covid even though I had experienced that a day prior. When trying to clear things up (while my mom took a phone call) they proceeded to cut me off and didn’t listen to my question before trying to answer it. They were loud instead of keeping our conversation private in a waiting room full of other patients. You’d think in the medical field they’d have some sort of compassion. Disgusting. I wish I got their names.

Dr kauhane and staff were great. I have been to hawaii kai urgent care too but this seems better. Wait time was reasonable in waiting room and once i got in the room.

The Kahala location is great. New interior, excellent staff and lots of free parking. If you need immediate medical attention this is the place to go.

The receptionists are kind and give a star. If you get sick and go here and meet Dr. J Briceno, you are a very unlucky person. I couldn't sleep at night for two weeks because of a bad cough and a high fever, but Dr. Briceno told me that my symptoms were just a common cold and that I could go to work in three days if I took medicine. But after three days, the symptoms got worse, so I got prescriptions from another doctor, and I started to recover 10 days later. I just realized that Dr. Briceno doesn't understand anything even after hearing the explanation of the patient's symptoms. If you see this doctor, you should never believe everything he says All I want from everyone is to see a good doctor and get well soon.

Brother waited 1.5 hours and still not seen. He walked out. Last time we waited for the doc to finish eating his lunch. Super slow place. It’s a not so urgent care.

Been here three times - for stitches and an x-ray. I've had great experiences. My waits weren't long; care was friendly, kind, and thorough. Stiches were really well done. There's now a sign up that if you're in more of a hurry, it might be better to go to a bigger location. But I went around 1 pm on a Sat, around 6 pm on a Tues - wait times at each point (greeting, after paperwork, intake, doc, follow-ups) was about 5-10 min. Clinic is clean and comfortable. Convenient location and parking. I especially liked the doctors!
