What a pleasure to see such beautiful fish 🐟 and various sea creatures. The Monk Seal and Octopus Tanks were closed and empty. The Admission 🎫 Price should be lowered until those 2 Exhibits are up and running. However; The Aquarium Building is Well maintained and THOSE exhibits are extravagant. The Souvenir/Gift Shop sells Wonderful Aquatic Themed Items and at a Fair Price. It was nice to be able to walk thru the temperature controlled Aquatic Building...then, exit out the automatic doors into a Well Landscaped and Maintained Garden of Trails. We will return here again, next visit.

It’s a very small aquarium. People say it can be completed in an hour. I say 30 minutes tops for a whole walk-around. It’s nice that they take your pictures once you enter. The photo book can be purchased for $38. Expensive for a few pictures, but priceless (I guess). The sea lion tank was being renovated so no sea lions. I can’t say much about the aquarium because it’s nothing spectacular, but it’s a nice detour.

Sad little Aquarium Tanks. Never saw smaller Tanks for Rays, sharks and octopus. This should be forbidden. Also often only one of its Kind in a Tank. Rest of Tanks for smaller fish was acceptable. Without Rays, octopus and sharks would have been good.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this aquarium. At first I was a little hesitant. After looking at reviews people said that the aquarium was small and you could walk through in 15-20 minutes and it was expensive. The most expensive ticket at the aquarium is only $12. That is a small fraction of the price of most aquariums I’ve visited. It was only $41 for my group of 4. It took us an hour and a half to get through the aquarium. Yes a couple exhibits were closed (jelly fish, octopus, and seals) but that’s to be expected as the aquarium was closed prior due to covid and exhibits were moved or taken down for maintenance. If you actually take time to admire the fish and read the information about them you will not get through this in a few minutes. There is currently 3 outdoor tanks as well and the first one being a beautiful open top tank.

A smaller aquarium than expected, but have great exhibits and beautiful fish, corals and sea creatures to see. I really enjoyed the natural coral, fish display they have outside to view. It was a unique touch! It took about 1 1/2-2hours to go through both in inside and outside exhibits.

Aquarium was small but still fun and worth the $12. The only complaint I have would be that a lot of the main exhibits like the Monk Seal and Octopus enclosures were down for maintenance, etc. There were also a lot of smaller enclosures inside that were blocked off for various reasons. It would be a better experience if things were repaired or cleaned at seperate times, because we ended up missing out on a lot of it.

Had a great time here!!! It is much cheaper then most aquariums, $12 a person for adults. Although this aquarium is definitely on the smaller side. We still had a great time and made the most of it. They had a sea dragon which is something I had never seen before. The gift shop is cute and it is a fun activity for kids.

It may be small, but I always enjoy visiting. The selection of fish and other aquatic animals is pretty diverse, and since it focuses on Hawaii, there's a lot of color. Unfortunately, the last time I went, the monk seals weren't available, and the touch pools outside were closed (not sure if permanently). But this is still a good place to go, especially for families with small kids. Parking right at the aquarium is limited, but there is plenty of metered parking along the street.

Very small aquarium, takes about 30 min to see the whole thing. A lot of spots for the biggest creatures are very small, like where the sharks are. All 3 vending machines were out of everything and there is no option to refill your water bottle, so make sure to get some in advance. Sea dragons are amazing!

If you are looking for a small short aquarium where they help rehabilitate some marine life then heres the aquarium for you! Was looking for somewhere that didn't keep big fish and this aquarium was perfect for my 4 month old. We saw some small fish and loved the experience. Don't come here if you're looking for a huge aquarium with a lot of marine life. If you want that then you should go out to the open ocean and see it yourself. :)

Lots of colorful fishes and coral reefs. Don't expect to see lots of sharks. The tank for the seals was empty. Disappointing. Don't waste your time looking for the elf to get a price. All they give is a peppermint candy 🍬 🙄 you can walk the whole place in 15-20min.

After snorkeling the beach and the north shore we thought we would give the aquarium a try. It was great. The kids were amazed by all of the unique creatures. We saw a zebra shark in a huge aquarium , loads of amazing tropical fish and my daughters favorite the sea horses. The seal habitat was closed and why we gave it a four but overall a great experience. The entire space can be done in an hour. Tip: Go early for free parking.

Lovely place to go for families with small kids. You’ll probably get through the whole thing in under 30 min. We had a very good time and glad we went. 3 adults (locals rate) and 3 kids cost us $26. Some of the displays were shutdown. When we went there was no petting ray area for the kids.

A perfect little adventure especially if you're looking for something quality to do before a flight home and don't wanna be at the beach... Nice little place. The staff is friendly and everything is well maintained. To he honest you can probably do the whole thing in a hour or less. But there is a great park across the street and the zoo one by so I can be also combo'ed with the zoo near by. All in all we had fun and it was the perfect adventure before our flight.

Small, but very nice aquarium. A great place to come with kids. If you like snorkeling, it will give you a better understanding of what you are seeing. Outside they have created brilliantly several types of tidal pools and reefs you'll encounter while swimming on the island.

Anytime we can support the education of local aquatic life and rehabilitation of animals, we will pay the small fee ($12) to explore. The shark, sea horses, weedy sea dragons were our favorite. This must be the smallest aquarium we have ever attended and hope they are able to support an expansion of educational efforts and rescue. As a money maker they capture fun photos that are over priced ($50) but support the aquarium so I justified the cost. Please support your aquarium🌊🦀🦈🐙🦭🪸🪼

Free parking although there are only like 8 spaces available. There's an indoor section and an outdoor section, but the outdoor section is currently under improvement and the seal exhibit is empty. That being said the indoor section is small but it was still a lot of fun looking at the fish and coral. All in all was able to see everything in less than an hour. It's fun looking at the pictures for each exhibit and trying to find the fish swimming. It's almost halloween and they had halloween decorations in the tanks.

In September my son and I visited Waikiki Aquarium. I thought the experience was quite worth it. The aquarium was extremely reasonably priced to get in (I think it was around $12 per adult at the time). It wasn't as big as other aquariums I had visited but they had a large variety of beautiful fish and corals there. And they had a few exhibits on Hawaiian culture and the ocean which were interesting. Also the aquarium was located right across from a large open park beneath the shadow of Diamond Head. All in all a very nice visit.

This aquarium was a good break from the crowds along Waikiki. It's not large, but the exhibits are good most have an audio, which can be played on your phone. It doesn't compare to the super aquariums like Monterey Bay, but for kids this is a five star, and there's a project area outside for them. There's also nice gift shop and it's at good location near the beach with parking and public transportation nearby.

A hidden and overlooked gem of the Waikiki Aquarium is the vibrant soft coral in some of the cases. With climate change and coral bleaching, the only place to see coral in it’s beautiful, live state is in an aquarium, unfortunately. As we strolled through the small aquarium wondering why we paid to see such a small attraction, I couldn’t help but take notice of and sincerely appreciate the hard and soft coral in the tanks with the fish. Of the small variety, I’ve only seen one or two of them in the ocean. It was beautiful to imagine that there was once a time when the coral here populated the coral reefs of the islands near and far. Sadly, that time has gone. Fortunately, UH has them available to see here in Waikiki. Although there isn’t a whole lot to see here at this dated and worn establishment, the coral itself is worth the price of admission because, well, where else would I see the coral in real life that’s not in a textbook or history book? I appreciated others wearing a mask in here because the air circulation wasn’t the best for such close quarters.

$12 admission gets you $12 worth of experience; not saying it's a bad thing, just much shorter than expected taking about 70 mins to view everything. The aquarium is all about coral reefs so you'll learn a lot about conservation and preservation of this ecosystem. Lots of colourful fish for the kids. Best animal there was the Dragonhorse!

This is a small but informative aquarium, the displays are wonderful, they offer a headset to anyone wanting to know more about the exhibits. The admission fee was very reasonable for what it is. Although it doesn't take long to go through a of the aquarium it is worth visiting to help support and keep it open.

The relatively small Aquarium is a nice Sanctuary away from the city and away from the crowd. however, it is rather disappointing that the outdoor exhibition is nearly non-existent. the major attraction with the seal or the sea lion was not there and it wasn't mentioned at the time of admission. it was nice and comfortable observing the sea life at the indoor exhibition

The Waikiki Aquarium contains the right amount of exhibits for a visit. There are enough exotic specimens to interest about anyone. They have less outdoor exhibits than some bigger aquariums; but I don't think many folks would stay out in that tropical sun very long anyway. I was able to put into use the advice the marine biologist gave about the proper distance to stay away from a beached monk seal. I encountered one and did accordingly with no incident.

Excellent attraction read the reviews yes it’s small and yes not as big as large aquariums but this place has really nice displays. Clean and we presented areas. Fantastic fish to look at and some nice outdoor areas. It’s only $10 something dollars to get in so real great value. A major yes for kids.

I have been coming to this Aquarium every time I come back to Oahu. Helpful staff. Informative displays. Nice collection of aquatic life. One of the best coral 🪸 displays any place. Make certain to see the out door coral tank. Note the rapid growth of their farmed coral. I hope you join, and get their news letter....lots of events plans over the year. When you sing up tell them Joe sent you... they will say Joe Who...that's me😃

A lovely treasure trove of sea life, especially the Seahorse section and seal lions. Affordable prices and large selection of souvenirs. Upside: Plenty of hands on activities, located along the beach, great views of Waikiki. Downside: Flow of crowds are uneven- some parts are busier than others.

Ok it's not big but the prices are very reasonable. The exhibits are varied and indoor and outdoor and the staff are friendly and helpful especially with getting the kids involved in the outside area. The best news is the grandkids were fascinated - 100's of Nemos, jellyfish, sharks, crabs, coral, seahorses, sea dragons and even the diving tank cleaner lady etc. With the kids on an island tour this escape was a grandparent godsend. It does get busy so arrive at 9 to avoid the post breakfast rush.

Moderate sized aquarium with a rich history run by the University of Hawaii. We spent about 90 minutes going through at a modest pace, which I felt was perfect. Within easy waking distance of Waikiki Beach. It has nice displays, several beautiful tanks, a large fish gallery with a shark, and an adorable leopard seal outside 😍 the sea dragon's and several seahorses tanks were an absolute favorite. Would make for a great stop for families with small children. Indoor and outdoor exhibits. It's not a huge facility but it is nice, has clean restrooms, and a cute gift shop. Oh, and the jellyfish tanks are very pretty too!

Stopped in while walking around the around. For $12 (for adults), it was a great way to spend about 30 minutes learning about coral and fish. The staff were very friendly and had a small live exist going to see what sea cucumber and spiky sea urchins feel like. Unfortunately the resident monk seal was on vacation in California, but they expect him home by summer of 2023.

Small but extremely informative. Video presentations explained what they do & how they get it done. They have living things on display that don't look real. The sea animals that make up coral & live off of the coral look like something made up for TV. It is seems things on TV imitate these intelligent living beings. You can feel like you are a part of the experiences. Bravo 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

Not happy to have to rate so so, but the Waikiki Aquarium has really been let go and needs some deep improvements. This is nothing new and was going downhill even before the COVID situation. Compared to other Aquariums I have been too, this unfortunately is a big disappointment. Of course if you were a kid, you wouldn't know any better, but it is truly shameful to represent the state. I hope they find the funds to improve, but for now, it is a mediocre aquarium at best.

So ended up here as a fall back plan but it was a nice experience. It is a modest aquarium but nicely executed. Mostly fish although there is a shark and an adorable monk seal who acts as an ambassador for the severly endangered species. It only takes about an hour to walk through if you are letting your toddlers look at every exhibit. It's next door to a pretty cool piece of Honolulu history called "The War Memorial" which was a giant seaside pool built after The Great War. It is unused now but still pretty neat. All and all the aquarium was a nice visit but has not yet reached the size to be consistently interesting i.e. I wouldn't buy a pass however, they do appear to be improving and expanding so I would check back in six months or so. The price is fair and they offer military discounts.

Nice displays but very small and a bit overpriced for what you see.

Not a bad aquarium, but is borderline whether the price point is worth the experience. If you have young kids and its raining - its a good way to kill 30 minutes to an hour.

It was a small place but only cost $12. There were lots of really cool fish, seahorses, jellyfish, coral and more. Unfortunately the seals were not there when i went.
