This hike said a mile there and back but don't be fooled, 3/4 of the hike is on a incline not unbearable but there like rocks and pebbles which roll from time to time when you step on them, i did see lots of kid's and older people manage to make it up there. So my best advice would be bring plenty of water and a walking stick if you can, and take breaks as needed. It's a heavy traffic trail which can make it hard to walk around people at times and take pictures there, i got to the big waterfall by 10 a.m and there was already about 30 people already there. So there early the better if you want to beat the crowd. $7.00 to park up at the top by the trail or you can park down at the bottom in the neighborhood and walk about other mile and not have your car watch for you. I hope this helps you out and have a great day

A great intro hike to this region for anyone visiting the island. There is plenty of tree cover but lots of mosquitos so bring bug spray. The trail has gravel and benches so there are lots of ways to stay comfortable and rested even if you don't have great hiking shoes. It's an excellent trail to bring kids on. There is a restroom and a convenience store near the parking lot. Parking is not free.

This is the ultimate paradise trail that is short but steep. It has a breathtaking 360 view of rainforest at the beginning of the trail, with creeks and waterfall at the end. Moderate difficulty. The trail is 1.6 mile long out-and-back. May have bugs and some prats may be wet and rocky. Note that there is a $7 parking fee per car collected at the entrance.

Manoa Falls was such a beautiful hike! Unfortunately the waterfall was just a trickle when we went but the hike was so fun that it was worth it. Keep in mind the trail can get very muddy and slippery so wear good shoes and expect to get muddy. Also, don't stop on the trail in the wooded areas or you will get attacked by mosquitoes. Conveniently they do sell mosquito repellent at the entrance to the parking lot and you will definitely want to get some. We saw some very pretty birds and of course fun little geckos. Supposedly you can see Chameleons but we didn't see any. Worth the hike if you are looking for a fun activity to do.

Visited this place over the weekday. They charge a $7 parking fee (only for Manoa falls). The fall is pretty but feels too small as not much water is running. It is about a 30min walk one way. When we went, it started to rain heavily so it took us a bit more than that as the trail became slushy. On a sunny day, the trail is usually shaded as it is fully covered with trees. There are some benches halfway, else there are no other seating areas. Some sections have too many rocks, so definitely not a hike for runners. Near the parking lot, they have a small convenience store to buy some food. Also at the end of the trail they have a shoe cleaner/brush unit installed to clean your shoes. In the second parking lot they also have a hose with running water to clean the dirt from shoes/legs. Definitely a good trail to enjoy any day.

By far one of my favorite hikes on Oahu. It is easy to access, the trail is of moderate difficulty at most but it's very well maintained. The first 15 minutes of the hike were my favorite with large leafed flora and towering trees all around. It felt like I had truly stepped back into a land of dinosaurs, if only for a few fleeting moments. The waterfall itself was a bit lackluster regarding water flow rate but it was the better of the many waterfall hikes I've done on this trip. I recommend this hike for all ages that still have an adventurous soul that likes to be awed by the beauty of nature.

We have done this hike 3 times. The most recent being late March 2022. The trail has changed quite a bit but it's still the beautiful lush rain forest that seems to be on steroids! There is a breathtaking view of the waterfall before you actually get there. Just gorgeous! It's an easier hike that's appropriate for all ages. 10/10 recommend. Go reward yourself with shave ice afterwards right there on site at the little store!

Visited early on a Thursday morning. Started my hike at 7 am while it was still cool and refreshing. I didn’t need bug spray due to the trade winds and cooler temperature. I felt comfortable hiking alone as the trail had many hikers (while not too busy - I often had the trail to myself). The trail inclines, in some areas more than others, and hikers need decent tennis or hiking shoes as the trail is wet and rocky. I did see some hikers in sandals who were doing fine, just going slower. There is a hose to clean off your shoes at the beginning/end of the trail which was helpful. Beautiful hike.

Great simple and safe hike for beginners. My daughter posed like a dragon queen on the log throne that's about halfway up the trail. Rainbows End snack shop is a great snack saver before or after the trail. Artwork there is amazing, so it's worth going in the center and enjoying a pre - or post hike sit.

Just beautiful! What an amazing hike. Enjoyed every minute. My husband and I are out of shape, however, we managed to make it to the waterfall without too much problem. The earlier you go the better, before a lot of people show up. Also, be ready to get soaked if it rains. If you love nature this is a must.

Rated as Novice and it should be moderate. Very slippery in spots, the incline is no joke. Bring water, a sweat cloth and mosquito spray. It's a very beautiful hike. To get a better view of the water fall you have to take in a area that is off limits. We did not but many did.

Easy hike leading to a beautiful waterfall. The hike itself is very scenic, and paved most of the way. Lush green rain forest. Expect it to rain, and your shoes to get dirty.

Absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. The waterfall at the end is a wonderful ending to a very satisfying hike. We had a great time walking, enjoying the scenery and taking lots of pictures. Completely and utterly worth it. Also, very family friendly and just challenging enough to make you feel like you accomplished something worthwhile.

Good hike to see the Falls. Trail uneven river rock & dirt/mud. Can get slick if it rains. Not recommended if you’re not steady on your feet. Also recommend wear good shoes not flip flops. Some scenes from Jurassic Park filmed here.

I personally found the waterfall spectacular. There was a lot of rain in the days prior so I feel like it was flowing even heavier than usual. The hike / trail itself was not bad probably rated intermediate for your average folk like myself but definitely made me break out in a sweat (and this was in January lol). It’s very peaceful and we didn’t have any issues with crowds. At one point we were the only two people there around 3pm and the guy working there was super friendly and offered to take photos of us.

Beautiful hike. Be prepared to get muddy if you continue hiking up after the falls. We hiked to the lookout point It’s about an extra 2 hours round trip but the view is worth it. Not too challenging as there are a lot of switch backs. The falls are very cold but so refreshing for a quick jump in after done hiking!

Really great hike, short but sweet. I would say it's a moderate hike due to the incline towards the end with the muddy, slippery rocks, but it is completely worth it. The decline isn't as bad as you will anticipate. Definitely purchase a can of bug spray, you WILL need it! Overall, I definitely recommend!!

Super Easy short hike if you’re athletic and agile. If you’re a bit less capable or you have kids be careful as it’s slippery. Just take your time and you’ll be fine. Wasn’t much of a waterfall as only a slight trickle was coming down. There’s a Beautiful clearing right after the shipping container bridge. Gorgeous massive trees. Looks like a scene out of avatar.

Great hike. The trail was muddy but not too muddy. Gravel on most of the hike, so that really helps with the muddiness. I hiked in running shoes and it was just fine. It even rained for bit and it just made the hike more fun. This place just feels other worldly.... so beautiful and unique! $7 to parking and we paid $5 for 4 insect repellant wipes... one for each of us. We got the about 5:30 and we asked if we needed to leave by a certain time and the man taking money for parking said no.

Rough trail if ur new to hiking. Clean trail. Awesome views. Wear good shoes. Bring water and bug spray. There is bug spray for sale at parking area if you forget. There's bathrooms and snack bar at trail head. Parking is $7 cash or card

It is a beautiful hike. Most people say it's an easy/moderate hike, but it most definitely leans more on moderate. There's no climbing, but it is a consistent uphill hike. So go at an easy pace for yourself, bring plenty of water, don't rush, and absorb all that nature has to give us. Also, don't swim in the water.

Great hike. You do have to pay $7.00 for parking if you are a tourist. The hike is amazing. The waterfall was ok, but the jungle you hike through to get there is amazing.

It was beautiful. We had a 4 year old and 2 year old which we carried. It was hard, but doable. The trail is slippery with mud and just slippery rocks. Wear hiking shoes or at least good stable shoes. The trail overall is easy but long and hot. Bring your own big spray, lots of water and take your time. If you have a walking stick bring it. The water fall and was beautiful to see. There was a shaved ice truck and the start of the taii, which was needed.

One of the easier trails I’ve done! My parents loved the greenery and I loved the coolness of the breeze. However, don’t wear your white shoes, or it will be ruined with mud. Do remember to stop by and get yourself some dole whip or pineapple juice on your way home!! Mud can also be slippery at times, be careful.

Very lush and beautiful garden. The waterfall at the end was not very special, the hike itself and all the beautiful nature surrounding you was the best part. Only issue is there is limited wheelchair accessibility so a family member in a wheelchair had to stay behind. It would be nice to have some viewing points that are accessible by wheelchair.

This is a good 1.0 mile hike to get to the falls. You'll get your steps in on this hike. Great workout. This is a good hike for all ages, just wear good shoes and bring a walking stick. It's wet and muddy, so don't bring your good, nice shoes. You'll feel like you're in the amazon forest. It's very picturesque.

Hike was super reasonable and felt like I was in the jungle. Went around 10 AM and it started raining, but the canopy provided a lot of coverage. The trail didn’t get too slippery and was definitely worth still going up. The top has a little pool below the waterfall and the water was a very pleasant temperature. So many photo opportunities on the way up, definitely great for anyone!

This hike is mostly uphill on rocks at the end so i wouldn’t say it was beginner level but definitely doable if you take your time. Bring lots of water- they sell bug spray and bug spray wipes at the entrance. Waterfall wasn’t too full today but pretty hike nonetheless. I took the 5 bus from downtown and walked in- cars pay to park.

Nice, scenic trail. The trail is winding and in some places it can be muddy and slick. The pathway is very is rocky and steep at points, but the beautiful scenery makes it worthwhile. Made it to the actual falls, and it was low on water so to speak, with a small flow of water into the base of the falls where I saw several people swimming.

Walking to the falls was a great way to get in some exercise. Didn't realize it was that long of a walk to the falls and wore the wrong shoes. Had on some sandals and didn't realize until it was too late. The hike is about a mile and a half one way, with a moderate but steady up hill climb. Some places were a little steeper than others. However, once l got to the falls l was totally disappointed. I was expecting to see endless water gushing out of the mountain. But it was far from that. But the hike up was more than enough to help me to burn off the big breakfast l had prior to. But don't get it twusted... walking down isn't a piece of cake either. If you're gonna take the trek, please be sure to wear some comfortable walking shoes (preferably hiking boots) and bring water. The trail is very safe, but unstable in some areas. The surface is mostly gravel and rocks. It is not paved!

Don't bring a stroller, wear hiking shoes, not flip flops, bring at least one bottle of water. Must pay for parking. Trail has lots of rollie rocks, easy to twist an ankle. Use the bathroom before you leave the parking lot.

We arrived at 7:45, by the time we finished the hike at 9:00 the parking lot was almost full. Rain on and off so definitely bring some inexpensive ponchos. Trail was wet the entire way so be prepared for slippery rocks, my 7-year-old hiked it no problem but definitely have to watch every step you take. Took us 40 minutes to get to the top and 25 to get down. Amazingly although we may have seen a few mosquitoes not a single bite and my daughter and I are like magnets for mosquitoes!

I consider this one of the top things to do in Honolulu. The hike was moderate due to elevation and muddy path. You’ll see tropical plants, large open forest, bamboo sections, and end with a spectacular high waterfall. Oh best thing is a food truck at the entrance to reward yourself with a smoothie afterwards!

Hiking in the rain forest. What else needs to be said! We hiked with three young children. They were able to do this reasonably. The trail was fairly busy. Remember it is wet so a little slick. Very beautiful!

  • 5/5 Cirrus S. 4 months ago on Google
The waterfall may dry up if the weather is dry, so keep an eye on the forecast. If you are mainly interested in hiking, you should definitely go. An excellent trail for all people, young and old, for individuals and groups. The trail is in the lap of beautiful nature with several stops where you can rest, you will also find interesting information on educational boards. Lovely place, must-go trail. Check all photos in the review to know more.

Loved this hike! It was our first hike of our trip and it was beautiful! The falls were robust and full of water. We weren't expecting it to be as tall as it was! The water was freezing (to us, at least) but there were a handful of people who took the plunge. We hung out on the rock for a bit to enjoy the cool mist after the hot, muggy hike. Bring water and enjoy the cool rainforest/jungle-y sights along the way!!

Awesome experience walking through a Jurassic ste rain forest to the beautiful Manoa Falls. Parking is $7 if you take the hike. Bug spray is a good idea as well if you are a mosquito magnet like me. You are going to get a little wet, sweaty and muddy, but it's well worth this life experience! See how beautiful Hawaii can be. The trail is well maintained - mostly gravel and easily navigated.

  • 5/5 Sohel K. 2 years ago on Google
Very unique hike through the rain forest. Lush vegetation and amazing scenery. You get the feeling a dinosaur might jump out at any corner. Marvel at the huge tree canopies. The waterfall itself is nothing special but the hike alone is worth it. Make sure to apply mosquito repellent before starting the hike.

  • 3/5 Wanda W. 11 months ago on Google
This is a great hike if you are informed and ready. As seniors being told it was a gentle gravel and sand incline, we feel they weren't being truthful with us. It was not gravel or sand. It was sharp edged stones (edges like granite would have) and slippery dirt. It started as a gentle incline but became very difficult about halfway. Which, by the way, isn't the half mile we were told either. It was close to a mile each way and difficult. At the end of the hike, where the falls are located, it's a treacherous climb over huge rocks to get to the actual falls and "pond". Be prepared and wear good sturdy hiking/climbing shoes, and know it's a bit of a rough climb. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic. He was very informative, entertaining, interesting, and helpful. He even brought samples of different items for us to try each time we stopped to rest. He made sure everyone made it up safely.

  • 4/5 Johnny H. 2 years ago on Google
Super scenic and pretty well maintained. Although locals say this is an "easy" hike, most Oahu hikes arent easy for everyone. May be a bit muddy, bring a walking stick and the terrain is hilly but worth the hike.

  • 5/5 Roxanne a. 10 months ago on Google
I loved the trail but becareful on the trail because it is very muddy and you can slip so easily if your not careful. But compared to other trails this one ain't that bad. Also there is a little jungle place there that has food and chips that you can buy before you go on the trail and it is very comfy in there. As well as snacks and stuff there's bathrooms of course which is a must and its just nice that it's there. Also you can clean your shoes if they get muddy out there.
