This hotel was more than what we were expecting. It is at the far end of Waikiki which means it is quiet. it is pretty much at the base of Diamond Head. Bus stops are very close also. The pool/restaurant area has an awesome view of Diamond Head. Beach chairs and towels were always available to take to the beach. The beach is only a block away from the hotel and if you are interested the Zoo is right across the street. The is a cafe in the lobby has good coffee but if you want there is a Starbucks less than a block away towards the beach. The hotel is decorated nicely as well. They have other services that we did not use. Check in was easy and the people were very polite. In fact, everyone at the hotel was nice. We did not use room service or housekeeping during our stay but whenever we saw them in the hallways they always asked if we needed anything or fresh towels. When we used the restaurant, the service was really good. Fast and friendly. They knew the menu well, and when asked about preferences they did not disappoint. If we go back to Hawaii/Waikiki, we would definitely stay here again!

Amazing hotel with amazing staff. Didn’t expect to feel so welcome. The hotel is close to the beach, they have a lot of interesting activities in house almost every day. Free beach towels/top cleaning of the rooms/receptionists are friendly and helpful. Stayed there for 8 nights. Recommend

Great location and awesome boutique hotel. You can tell the building itself is older but it’s been beautifully redone. The rooms are perfect and having a walk out balcony and view of the ocean and Diamond Head is wonderful! Pool is awesome for laying out and enjoying a cocktail with a great view. Restaurant for breakfast was super good and the coffee shop on the first level is great for grabbing a coffee on the way out. They even have a dole whip shop on the first floor too! I would recommend to anyone coming to Waikiki!

Do not waste your money on this hotel. Not worth the money. Better hotels and AirBnB. This is not a 4-star hotel. More like a 2-star hotel. 1. Furniture is old and outdated in the lobby and rooms. Dirty stained carpets. Cleanliness is not kept up. The strong perfume smell in the hallway masks the cigarette smell in the rooms. 2. Pool is extremely small with limited lounge chairs. The pool can literally fit 5 feet people and nowhere to sit since all the chairs are taken. 3. For a 4-star hotel to charge hotel guests $4.00 to ‘hold’ luggage when checking out is pathetic. This tip could have went to the staff. To penny pinch is really unfortunate. 4. Daily resort fee is $47.00. Most expensive with no amenities is awful. There are way better hotels with 4-star rating that charges less. 5. This hotel is literally a 2-star hotel. The rooms are extremely small. Pictures are recidivist 6. The couches outside the fitness room is always occupied by hotel staff conducting their ‘’meetings” within earshot of guests regarding guest complaints and concerns is extremely unprofessional Do not waste your money there are way better hotels in the area!!!

This is a quaint hotel which I loved ❤ very classy. I loved the location. There is a breathtaking view of Diamond Head AND the ocean. I loved it! Definitely an Island feel. The artwork in the lobby was both modern and historical in that there were portraits of what looked like island royalty. There was nightly music in the restaurant DECK, Monday nights duo was the best for me. What was most impressive was how the manager, Kim, handled a very tense situation. I left my CC at home in California, the clerk checking us in became very short with us. I had plenty of cash to cover everything and my cousin had a CC as well, however, she proceeded to treat us less than. The next day after discussing the matter with Kim she made us feel welcomed gave us a couple of perks...upgrade. Finally, on check out I realized that I was missing a pair of shoes. Kim looked for them personally and found them! Because of the manager Kim, I will definitely stay again

Overall, we had a great experience on our trip. The hotel is clean, has dining options, and is in a convenient location. However, the hotel room was WAY smaller than we were expecting. We shared a room with another couple we were traveling with and there was no room to put luggage or even walk around easily. I read that there was supposed to be a kitchenette area, there was only a mini fridge and not even a microwave. Each meal cost us at least $50 (for 2 people) and it would have been nice to be able to warm up leftovers. Upon arrival, we were denied the valet service that we were expecting because they "ran out of room." It was frustrating considering they should take priority for hotel guests rather than accept parking for others. We ended up having to park across the street at the zoo where there were homeless people laying all over. Overall, I do not think I would stay here again. The amount of homeless people near this hotel on the main strip made us nervous as they usually seemed upset or were acting violently amongst each other.

BARELY ANY PARKING...Try to get your car in the morning ASAP... as this hotel does not have enough space. If you arrive in the afternoon, YOU WILL NOT GET PARKING HERE. If there's space, just pay the $45/night parking and forget about it.. It's a lot more than what other hotels charge but the valet service is worth it. Parking in Waikiki is a NIGHTMARE. It's bad enough that this hotel does NOT provide enough parking for their guests but finding parking anywhere else, especially at night, on weekends, is stressful. The Valet suggests to start driving around the area/other hotels for parking when they do not have space. I suggest the Honolulu Zoo parking but it can get full real quick depending what time and day. When you can, just cough up the expensive parking and never worry about walking far for your car...The Valet and Bell Desk are definitely UNDERSTAFFED and you will see them running around trying to help everyone. Please go easy on them. I've seen a lot of guests who couldn't get valet get angry at them several times... Pros: Got upgraded to a Diamond Head/Ocean View room upon arrival for my anniversary. The view of Diamond Head is amazing. 100% suggest if you want unobstructed views of it. Room I got is perfect size for 2 people (king size bed) Had a mini fridge and a balcony. Bathroom is a little small for standard hotel rooms but I'm happy. Overall, this hotel is a great budget hotel and the only bad thing about it is the parking situation. Great location between the diamond head mountain and the bustling shops

Very nice hotel but it was totally different from the pictures on the website. The ocean view was very difficult as you had to look up and around the wall and just above the trees to get a peek at the ocean. The view of the volcano was beautiful. Most people want a cup of coffee in the morning but hard to do from the convenience of your room when there’s no coffee pot of any sort in room, no microwave either. Great location and meal options available but very pricey, $30 for a burger.

Came here on Costco travel, the hotel is a little older but, well kept and the staff was friendly and accommodating! They offer you free drinks upon arrival and you can request free beach chairs and towels during your stay! The Deck has amazing views of Diamond head and the ocean😍 the only hang up I experienced on our stay was the elevators. There were only 2 operating elevators and sometimes climbing up the flights of stairs was the better option. You have to try the dole whip slush, best I’ve ever had! Location is close to all of the hot spots in Waikiki! Fun fact: There are a bunch of Awesome food trucks next to the Hotel side street, give them a try! Till next time, Mahalo❤️

The hotel itself was nice. We booked a “suite”, but it’s not what I would consider a suite on the mainland. The room was very small. The couch in the room was stiff and uncomfortable and you were unable to watch TV from bed. The staff were VERY friendly and super helpful as well as accommodating. The hotel is located on the east end of Waikiki Beach - it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the shops and the majority of restaurants in the area. On site parking was $50 a night and their valet system was odd. Luckily, there is a public parking lot across the street (near the zoo) for $1.50 an hour. Just be mindful of times! It gets packed pretty quickly. Great ocean views from our room and overlooked Waikiki Beach. Beautiful view of Diamond Head from the pool/on site restaurant. Very small pool.

The Queen Kapiolani is a beautiful hotel. I was able to book 5 night for free through my credit card point, and they didn’t have any hidden fees which are VERY common with hotels in Honolulu. You don’t get the “ultra-luxury feel” like the near by Sheraton Waikiki… instead you get a very comfortable and relaxed island vibe type decor. Everything was very clean and the staff was super nice and always willing to help and engage. The restaurant inside the hotel has absolutely amazing food. I was very impressed because I was kind of expecting bar food. My personal favorite was the Hawaiian-style French toast. It’s a super original take on the classic dish. Overall, I just felt welcome and relaxed. The room had everything I needed, and I had an incredible ocean view. I would definitely stay here again.

We just stayed at the Queen Kapi'olani with our wedding party, families, and guests a couple weeks ago. We initially had some issues with the AC in our room, but management was very quick to fix the problem. I just scrolled some of the other reviews and, yes, the rooms are a bit smaller than average motel 6's on the mainland, but for good reason. This hotel is historic and had a multi-million dollar renovation a few years ago. I appreciate that the hotel remodel kept the iconic Waikiki charm. The remodeled hotel rooms have a vintage "boutique" feel, and I believe most rooms have a gorgeous lanai. If you need more space, go downstairs to any of the wonderful hotel amenities: the pool, the bar/restaurant, or relaxing open-air lobby. The pool and bar/restaurant are both located in the same space with incredible views of Diamond Head--and they offer pool beverage service from your phone! In the lounge, there are tons of comfy couches, tables, and chairs along with a coffee shop, sweet shop, art gallery, and surf shop. The artwork and murals on the walls are beautiful. Finally, the best reason to stay here is the location. It is right on the edge of Waikiki (tourist central) and a block away from the less crowded beaches. There are plenty of excellent places to eat (both touristy and not) within a short walk. And you won't find another hotel in Waikiki with views of Diamond Head as amazing as the Queen K.

Had a wonderful time staying here! The view of diamond is absolutely amazing. The hotel is really pretty and great location. Loved the large windows in my room. I did the yoga, which was very lovely. The room was missing some basics. There was no full length mirror, microwave, or coffee maker. The restaurant and coffee shop were good, but very expensive.

This hotel has some pretty mixed reviews but I would definitely give it 5 stars. It's by far the best option in its price point especially considering how close it is to the beach. The rooms were small but comfortable with some nice updates and a great layout. If you are travelling alone or with just one other person, the size of the rooms is completely fine. If you can, opt for rooms with views of diamond head as those views truly are unbeatable. Great restaurant and bar as well as a fantastic lobby with several shops, a dedicated employee to help you book tours, and a really good coffee shop. Last but not least, it's right across the street from the zoo. For me, this is a HUGE selling point but I get that it's not for everyone. All in all, great stay.

Great stay! Clean and comfortable. We parked at the zoo and were pretty happy with that (it's 4hr max at the meters, but pay for 1hr and enter in your phone number. When they text you to extend your parking, you can extend it all night... There is no 4hr max.) Bummer that there aren't coffee machines in the rooms. I would have loved a coffee on my balcony in the morning. And FWIW the coffee place in the lobby sucks. Cold & expensive cappuccino. We also didn't receive the water bottle or dole whip I thought we were supposed to get on arrival. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay!

My partner and I stayed here for a quick getaway this month and had a wonderful experience. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. I loved waking up early and grabbing some coffee from the place downstairs and walking over to the pier to watch the sunrise. The location is unbeatable and easy walk to restaurants and grocery stores. We’d definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to our friends.

We had a 2 star experience at this 4 star hotel. Staff was friendly enough but our room was broom closet sized with a lovely view of the alleyway. (great for hearing disgruntled valet staff conversing below) All of this would have been manageable were it not for the ant infestation in our room. I probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again even though aspects of this hotel are very nice

Location is great, nice artwork and cool vibe in common areas. Unless you pay top of line for some rooms, you will get a pretty basic room with a really outdated bathroom and missing basic amenities such as tea/coffee maker. Also pool is tiny. Certainly not worth 300/night.

So far it has been a great place to stay. The bed is a little too hard for my liking but it does the job. The people are friendly and accommodating. Greeted with an Aloha every time you pass one is a nice surprise. The rooms are clean and our view was great. Within walking distance to the beach and a lot of restaurants and shopping areas.

I have to admit that I was highly impressed!! This was my first time staying at this hotel as I wanted to try somewhere new on this visit !! So for my first night on the island I stayed in this hidden gem!! The employees were all very nice and super helpful!! The property is very clean and well kept. I stayed in a mountain view room which had the perfect view of Diamond Head as well as a nice view of the ocean!! I do not like smaller rooms so I would not stay here for 10 days but I could definitely do 2 or 3 nights!! And would recommend to anyone that doesn't mind the space! Only real downside for me was the size of the bathroom!! It's really tight in there but there was a window which helped!!

Hotel was nice stayed for three nights. We stayed on mezzanine floor which had a small balcony but was easily able to be looked into by any of the neighbouring hotels. The location of the hotel is great but there was constant street noise and the hotel walls were thin which made it hard to sleep some nights. The staff were friendly and accommodating to us and very helpful. The coffee shop in the lobby was unreal! Overall a good hotel but thin walls were hard to get over.

The star of our stay here in Waikiki. Great location close to everything but not in the thick of it. Our room overlooked Diamond Head Crater. A block from the beach. Walkable to many places. The staff were courteous and attentive. The pool was nice, but chilly. the upside is you can hear the monkeys at the zoo on the pool deck! This place is definitely older, but clean, well kept and perfect for what we were looking for.

The staff are so helpful, originally we were in a room that smelled like old cigarettes and we asked them about it because we a non smokers. They offered to change our room no problem. Great location, just a short walk to Waikiki beach. We never had to wait long for our vehicle with valet. They offer beach towels and backpack beach chairs. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had an incredible experience at the Queen Kapi’olani. From the minute we entered we were given top notch service. Told our room wasn’t ready, which was fine because we were early, went to the amazing bell hop Kelvin and our room was ready. They had also given us an upgrade to a beautiful ocean view room because it was our honeymoon. The staff then continued to impress us throughout our stay from the beach towels and chairs, to helping me out with a special surprise for my wife, to just taking a great photo of us on our last night. The location really can’t be beat either, if you are able to walk 20-30minutes you are in reach of some pretty great stuff, don’t forget beach is only two blocks away! Highly recommend staying here!

Not happy at all. We paid for full beach view room with king bed , what we got was partial beach view, queen bed. Basically we got charged extra for nothing. And I’m the middle of night around 4 am they turn on the fire alarm asking everyone to leave their rooms immediately and when we got down they said they were just testing the alarms !!!!!!!! Like are you kidding me !!!! It’s 4 clock in the morning and you decided to test the alarms!!!!!!! I do not recommend this place . Save your money

From arrival to departure, all staff was full of Aloha spirit. So friendly; felt like the hotel genuinely wanted my family to have a really nice time and did everything and then some to accomodate. I would absolutely return to this hotel next time I am in Oahu. Location is great for beach time and easy walks into town - even the food trucks behind the hotel are a delicious way to enjoy food here, although The Deck is FANTASTIC. Brunch options at the The Deck are the best, and an Ocean View w/ balcony (lanai) room (two queen beds) is a must! The lanai was a highly used piece of our hotel stay.

I just got back from Hawaii and I already miss it so much! The hotel is absolutely well located close to the beach and everything. In front of the Waikiki Zoo and overlooking the Diamond Head. The facilities are modern and beautiful. The size of the room is adequate. If it had breakfast included and parking, the hotel would be perfect. We'll be back!

Recently stayed in one of the ADA rooms, as I am unable to walk unassisted and use either a walker or scooter. The room had 2 double beds and a sofa that took up the entire room. I'm not even sure why the sofa is there because you cannot sit in it because it's so close to the bed. There was barely enough room for my scooter to make it from the door to the bathroom. The bathroom was huge and had a shower seat for me to use. That was definitely the best part of the room. We did have a lanai overlooking part of the pool and the outdoor seating from the Deck restaurant. It did have views of Diamondhead mountain and the ocean, which was beautiful. The downside, though, is that right next to me is the window of another guestroom. If they open their curtains, we are both in clear view of each other so they definitely would not have any privacy. The other downside is that the ac units are on each side of me and are loud & blow hot air on me, making it difficult to enjoy the view. I did find the beds comfortable and the staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. The location is both a hit/miss. It was great to have shops & restaurants within walking distance but on the weekends, you get the nightlife crowd as well.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Staff were lovely. It was very clean and the interior design is simple, but felt very welcoming and incorporates the hotels history. The deck bar and restaurant was great by the pool. A small pool but amazing position with views to Diamond Head, the park and the beach.

We told at the counter that we are on our honey moon vacation, so they provided us a room with better view and more spacious. We really liked the view. However it was very old room and i could smell foul smell on carpet and bed. Utensils were not clean and were even smelling bad. Their lift was very slow and one of them was not even working. However their valet service was really good. Their ac was really old too. I would recommend it only if you are going to sleep and not going to spend much time in the room.

We had a great time at this hotel. It was competitively priced compared to other nearby hotels and we were not disappointed. We had a "city view" room, while, being one of the more affordable rooms was still wonderful! We did not look directly into another room (my concern) and at the 16th floor had a lovely view. Room was air conditioned and spacious. The bathroom definitely shows the hotels age (small and dated) but the room, lighting, and service were excellent. There are free towels and beach chairs as well. And we enjoyed the free morning yoga. The sheets and towels left something to be desired. Elevators are SLOW. Restaurant beautiful but not cheap. The pool is my only real complaint. It's tiny and NOT what the website shows. But, all in all, great for the price :)

This hotel is feeling a bit dated, but I really want to call out the quality of the gym. The gym smells very good, the equipment is dated but well maintained. The front desk staff Eileen was very patient and helpful when checking in our large party. The rooms felt small, the popcorn ceiling and walls made the room feel dirty. The location and views are absolutely amazing. One thing that really tilted this review to a negative/neutral rating is the porterage fees. We never used any of the services offered for luggage here, but we were charged a porterage fee twice (once on check in, once on check out). This is not a good business practice even if the single booking party is large. This seems like a scam because we totally could've booked separately.

  • 5/5 Alvina W. 4 months ago on Google
I don't really have any complaints. It's not a glamorous hotel by any means, but the location is good and it's one of the cheaper ones in the area. Valet parking was typically quick and reliable. Check in was not as glamorous as it is advertised on the website though lol, it's just like a normal check in but you get to pick a canned drink as well. One complaint is that the sunscreen at the pool deck is only spf 30. (Neighboring hotel had spf 50.) They also offer free rental of beach chairs which is awesome. Hotel is right by the beach. Lastly, the free yoga class was a nice amenity but definitely more geared for an older and less active crowd.

We stayed here in October and used QK as our wedding block hotel. Working with Julie and Itzia was fantastic--they are the nicest, most efficient, professional, and communicative team. This was a big reason I chose this hotel. It was recently renovated and the pictures they post are very accurate to what you get. It is a lovely open air lobby and the views from our room were incredible. We got the corner junior ocean view suite, but even family that were in the city view also had a really cool view. The front lobby staff was extremely helpful in delivering welcome baskets to our guests (I believe Theresa is the one that helped us!). The valet attendants were AWESOME!! We used them daily and they are the friendliest and fastest team you'll ever meet. We can't say enough good things about this hotel and can't wait to visit again someday.

For our 25th Wedding Anniversary, we were lucky enough to get a double aspect room with AMAZING views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. A perfect room for our special stay. The balcony really made a difference. Very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and the staff were very friendly.

This hotel is an older hotel in a prime location on Waikiki Beach near Queens Beach. Their staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pool and The Deck restaurant on the 3rd floor have a perfect view of Diamond Head. The Deck had good food, friendly staff and with a view. The rooms are basic and comfortable. I loved the Dole pineapple ice cream served in one of the shops there. Thank you for everything! You guys did a fantastic job! Thank you!

Had a great experience at the Queen Kapi'olani! The staff was excellent, especially the valet service staff. I would definitely recommend this place. I would advise anyone staying here to keep in mind that this seems to be a very old building that has been refurbished/renovated so it will not compare 1 to 1 with brand new establishments.

The staff were all really kind and helpful but the room itself was not like any hotel room I’ve seen. It seemed kind of broom closet like with our bed, settee and desk/fridge all against the same wall. The bathroom wasn’t well cleaned with a previous guest’s lipgloss smeared along the door. Great view of the ocean though!

Came to Hawaii to visit our families and for our honeymoon. We never regret staying at Queen Kapiolani. Stayed at a premium ocean and diamond head view and it was literally jaw dropping. Room is a bit dated but it’s just like any other 4 star hotel along Waikiki. Staff was friendly and helpful. Valet parking only. We miss Hawaii, will definitely visit again and stay at Queen Kapiolani! Mahalo!

This resort is the best rated in this area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you definitely won't be let down. For a close to beach spot with views a great choice. They have free beach chairs you can check out at the bell hop desk which we did both days . The chairs have backpacks where you can put your beers and snorkels... Also surf board rentals lessons good food etc

I really enjoyed staying here. This is a perfect spot for military families pcsing to Hawaii and needing a place to stay while waiting on their housing. They allow dogs which is perfect because not many hotels here in Waikiki allow them. That can be very stressful for families moving here. I saw a couple reviews here saying that the dogs being there worried them but don't let that keep you from going. Most of the dogs are friendly and if they are aggressive in any way the hotel will handle it. They seem to keep all of the dogs on the same floor(s) as well, so it isn't likely that you'll be disturbed by any noises. It is great that this hotel helps military families. It isn't easy moving your family so far away. They made the experience nice. We were only a 5 min walk from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs! The restaurant is nice too. The only downside was there wasn't a coffee maker in our room. It's not ideal for someone who is staying for a while. There is a cafe downstairs, but it gets pricey buying it on a daily basis. I would recommend the hotel investing in some sort of common area for guests to get complimentary coffee. I like that the elevators require a card key to get to the upper levels. It is a nice safety feature. The only downside about the elevators is it can take a long time to get on one. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. There's a few things I think they could improve on, but overall it's a nice place. Good for families too!

Nice hotel. Convenient location, it was so easy to get to wherever we needed to. The restaurant and coffee shop in the hotel are good. The housekeeping staff are wonderful! The beach views and the diamond head views are absolutely amazing!! The elevator scene however sucks and such a nightmare if your room is on any of the higher floors of this 18floor tall building! There's 3 elevators and during our stay only two of these elevators were functional and we were there for an entire week! So that sucked!!

Wonderful experience—we ended up getting our room upgraded which was a very nice surprise! Beautiful views of the ocean and city. Great coffee shop downstairs and easy access to everything in Waikiki beach area. Pool area was nice as well with lots of shaded spots and lounge chairs.

Great experience here. Had a great view of Diamond Head. The only tiny inconvenience we had was that there was no coffee machine in the room. Luckily there was a Starbucks close by and even a coffee place on the lobby floor. We never went there though because if we are going to pay we prefer Starbucks. The gym was open and the pool which was refreshing since most hotels have that stuff closed due to COVID or very limited. We did not try the restaurant as we did not like the setting or the vibe. They also did room cleaning when needed unlike a lot of hotels that we’ve stayed at during our trip. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Valet service was excellent and quick despite them being busy. Towels and beach chairs available as well as an ice machine.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your room. They compare countless booking web sites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of my favorites in this area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't regret it. Close to the beach and Diamond head. Great establishment and not very expensive compared to other hotels in Waikiki. The rooms and lobby are very clean and comfortable. The coffee shop and restaurant are both very good with a very relaxing ambiance. I loved my stay and I have already booked my next one there!

Staff is friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, bright, and unscented. Water pressure and temperature were great and the drains all worked. Pool had plenty of chairs and towels. Nice sunscreen dispenser at the pool. Lots of street life, food, and bus connections are right there. Great value hotel!

A really nice, older hotel. Rooms are a bit small, but nicely appointed. Parking is valet only. Location could not be better, just steps from the beach. Staff are friendly. Food was so so. At "The Deck", we had a very oddly tasting (not in a good way) Mai Tai, and one of the smallest calamari appetizers I have ever seen in my life (literally, less than an ounce of calamari before it was fried). I'd stay here if you can afford the rooms, but eat elsewhere.

Very good hotel! Reasonable price! Very strategic place! Close to the beach and bus stations! Highly recommend it! The only negative point is if you want them to keep your luggage after check out for a few hours, they will unfairly charge you hourly which I have never seem anywhere else!
