This hotel is fine. It's not particularly memorable in a good or bad way. Nothing bad happened here but there were lots of little annoyances that take the magic out of a vacation. Then again, not everyone can afford to stay at the Disney Resort or Sheraton so for budget travelers or backpackers, this hotel should be sufficient for your needs. While not beachfront, there are some nice views of the park and even a bit of ocean from some of the rooms, although you can hear the traffic noise from Ala Moana Blvd if you are in the front. We did not drive/park so we did not need to deal with the limited parking situation that has affected other travelers. Its fairly close to the beach, but you do have to cross a major avenue to get there so its not quite as whimsical as if you are staying closer to the water. There is a resort fee here like there is at virtually every hotel in Waikiki, which is a minor irritation considering there is not daily housekeeping. I knew this going in since we were only staying here for three days before moving on to a hotel in a different location (I don't really care about neatly made beds, and there is abundant soap), but the build up of trash in our room sort of took the magic out of returning back after a day of adventures with the odor. The room itself was fairly basic, but reasonably modern and comfortable. There were not separate freight elevators so all of the custodial and maintenance equipment was brought into the regular elevators with guests, which were fairly slow and often crowded. None of these things really affected our vacation, and I don't regret staying here; we certainly liked saving some money versus more expensive hotels nearby but you get what you pay for as they say.

Good location but a shabby hotel that’s seen better days. No daily clean, you have to ask for fresh towels. Room smelled of socks, clingy shower curtain (no glass screen) AC didn’t work and neither did the lifts after a fire alarm (for several hours). There’s also a $30 “amenity fee” and various other taxes to add to your room rate too, so factor that into the cost. But all hotels nearby also expensive. Nice staff. Amenity fee at least gets you beach towels and free entry to the Bishop museum, which is normally $29.

We had a great time! Room was clean, no mold in the bathroom which can be a problem in a humid climate like this. Staff was very friendly and RESPONSIVE! Our tub/shower had EXCELLENT water pressure but the drain was slow. I notified the front desk and the drain was unclogged within an hour!! Our room had an excellent ocean view and city view, including Diamond Head. Within walking distance to the beach and downtown Waikiki and restaurants. We stopped into our local ABC store around the corner for coffee most mornings and on our last day and they recognized us and let us in before the store opened so we really appreciated that. If you want to save a little money on food, I’d have to recommend checking out the food to go offerings at ABC. We had fresh papaya most days from ABC and it was always ripe and delicious. The microwave in the room is also handy and the refrigerator kept things cold!! I would stay here again!

We recently stayed for 12 nights at Aqua Palms and couldn't fault the service, staff or cleanliness of the hotel. Whilst our room was a little dated, it was still completely fine and the beds were very comfortable. It was a great base for our holiday needs. The staff were very helpful and always friendly. My only criticism would be that the pool area needs some shade for those that don't want to sit in full sun (however, there were shady areas in the afternoon). Would certainly look at staying at this property again if we returned to Hawaii!!

I can't get over how wonderful this hotel is. The rooms are spacious and some have balconies. We love the location! So close to alamoana and easy to get to the other side of Waikiki. Close to a beach as well! Staff was very friendly and we were very happy they had a parking garage that comes with the room! The rooms are very clean and have a microwave and fridge !

Cons: $27+ a day for "Amenities" No room cleaning service Need to go to the lobby to get more towels, coffee, creamer, clean water etc. $30+ a day for parking Pool has no umbrellas / shade The balcony had a huge pillar in the middle so you had to squeeze out of the door to get onto a very small balcony. Pros: Relatively clean to begin with Staff was nice for the most part Close to a lot of places in Waikiki

We came for a family holiday for a week in Waikiki and stayed at the Aqua Palms Waikiki. The hotel is not in a bad location bus route and with in a 20 min walk of the beach and the outdoor mall. The staff were very nice and Courteous. The house keeper when you saw them in the hallway were very friendly and happy. The room was what I wood except for the are showing it age but very good for the purpose we were in town for we will go back next time we’re in Waikiki.

Terrible experience. Double check before you book here, especially on intermediaries where the details aren't too clear. Some rooms are not part of the hotel, but owned separately as airBNB's. On Expedia this room came up as a "hotel". We got stuck with this inconvenience. There is no housekeeping, no resupply of bathrooms, made beds, nothing. Any extra amenities will cost you. This becomes a big problem if your stay is longer than 3 days. We booked for 4 people and 2 beds, yet when we arrived found only 1 bed and a futon. It did not get better from there. While it seemed fine on the surface, once we started looking around things fell apart. We tried to put something in a cabinet and the front came clean off. We tried taking a shower and the handle slipped right off. There wasn't even a screw holding it in place. Not sure how these things made it past the "owner" considering their very tight rulebook. The closet also has very little space to put your personal items in. It's already filled with the "owner's" other broken furniture and supplies (That are locked away). I'll update this review as time goes on since we've only been here a day. I apologize for leaving this review on the hotel side of the business, but as it occupies the same building and has the same name, I have no other choice until they decide to very clearly identify one from the other in the future.

This was the last minute booking so was a little nervous, but this hotel was actually very pleasant. Very quiet rooms were very clean. The shower is very small single person standing only and the water coming out of the shower head was a little weird, though I was too tired from my flight to care. I would definitely rebook at this hotel for another visit. Love the convenience of the IHOP downstairs. Also a prime location to getting to the beach quickly. Only about a 7 to 8 minute walk. They may check out very simple via text message. Bonus points for that!

Staff is pretty awesome, extremely helpful with taking our bags up (don't forget to tip). Rooms have been updated and if you get a lanai room the views are pretty nice! A lot of restaurants and shops near by! Parking is an extra fee added on if you need at check out! We are doing a staycation and very happy with the stay, and can't beat the location. A short walk from Waikiki strip

I’m not sure why this place has such mixed reviews. We loved it! Room was super clean, very quiet, and has a microwave and fridge. The staff was helpful and also loan you beach chairs and towels. It’s within walking distance to the beach, shopping, and dinning. A better price than most.

I wanted to like this hotel as the reviews were decent. I will say the photos are very deceiving! I honestly feel like I could of gotten better for the price had I researched more. The room was updated, lobby is very simple and reminds me of old motel. No A/C upon check in till a few hours after we checked in. The hallway to our room floor smelled HORRIBLE, like dirty wet towel, carpets are very old they had a fan dryer as if the floor got wet or something. Our rooms carpet looked dirty and smelled like straight up pee, I did not walk barefoot on floor. Also there is no housekeeping daily, only once you check out. Some pros are good area close to kalakua avea about 10 min walk or 5 min drive and Ala Moana mall is about a 15 min walk or 7 min drive. Beach nearby, Decent view from room. bed was comfy that’s about it. I’d say if you’re in a pinch and want something semi decent this will work for you. I personally would stay here again,

We recently travelled from New Zealand and stayed at the Aqua Palms. The staff were always helpful and friendly giving us so much good advise .A special mention and big thank you to Mike the Bell Guy .He is an asset to the motel .The pool was always clean. Location and price was excellent. Located on a popular boulevard it is a short walk to many eateries and shopping malls. If you cant walk ,Buses are near by as well as uber service . most uber cost us $8 us which got you to most places out of walking distance . To access the main beach it is quick 3 minute walk over the road and through the Hilton Village. The village has Starbucks, Quality branded clothing shops and dinning of many cuisines . Always good entertainment going through the village .I highly recommend Aqua palms .I will be returning for sure .

Great location near the beach, IHop is downstairs! Great service. The rooms were a bit small, but it did have a balcony. The parking was horrible though. Very tight spaces and driving through the terrace. And it costs another $30 a day! That's my only complaint.

The hotel is located in a very busy and happening area of Honolulu. Thankfully it was at least a few blocks away from the gazillion homeless camps in Honolulu. There are MANY places to get a bite to eat within a few blocks of the hotel. Luckily there are people everywhere so it did feel safe. The front desk staff were very friendly and engaging. Check in and check out were both a breeze. The parking garage was a little tricky. No street parking to check in so you have to pull next to a 95° ramp. Check in was smooth and easy. The parking garage is full of tight turns so good luck with a larger SUV or truck. The room inspection upon going in immediately pulled me to the balcony overlooking the city. What a spectacular view! Balconies were a great choice. The room was DEFINITELY not the cleanest. There was a large hairball on our bathroom floor in front of the trashcan. I attached a picture so everyone could experience it. The shower wasn't the cleanest and the soap on the wall was empty. There is no daily room service so you have to call or go to the front desk for service. The bed was very comfortable but the pullout couch is less than an admirable sleeping arrangement. The rooms were quiet from above us and I didn't hear any noise from inside the hotel. The only noise came from a lot of shouting outside from 9pm to 2am from the homeless people. One particular guy shouted the F word at everyone walking by accusing them of being with the FBI. Clearly a schizo-affective disorder exacerbated by stimulant drug use. I was extremely satisfied with the price of my hotel stay. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay here. Mahalo!

this was honestly a really good Budget hotel, it is relatively renovated and modern compared to other places I looked at. however, it is filled with cockroaches, one time I came back and had to kill three cockroaches (1 escaped under the bed). The service folks for maintenance were amazing, they sometimes do hire the right people, also they really need thicker blankets. for these reasons I still think $180 a night is a bit too expensive but consider your options!

Beautiful hotel and great location with easy access to the beach and shopping centre. The harbour where boat tours depart is walking distance and the Hilton complex is across the road with public access to their beautiful lagoon shops and gardens (and fireworks on a Friday evening). I would have given 5 stars if the cleaning service was up and running, I only stayed 4 nights but unfortunately did have to renew my own towels and soaps (however I was pre warned by reception that this would be the case as I was only on short stay) Free black coffee and water facilities at reception, and the pool area is beautiful. The whole hotel is wonderfully kept, clean and quiet. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return. The staff are also fantastic, every staff member I spoke to was extremely polite and helpful, they are happy to call taxis and arrange wake up calls etc. All around a fabulous stay, I'm very satisfied!

No room service dirty towels trash cans over full , got to find maid to give her your trash & exchange your towel due to covid 19 they say! When does this end! Charge me good money & tell you no room service, no parking unless there's no reserved sign everything is reserved I hop next door rents spots for parking for them, must have people living there! Across the street from the Hilton about 200yrds from shore line not a bad spot but you can't see any water. See pics. My view

Location was good, Hotel staff was really friendly and for a 3 night stay here it wasn't too bad but I'm not sure we would consider this hotel again. Booked two rooms, shortly after check-in one room had a live cockroach in the drawer. The staff was kind enough to switch us rooms but it did make us weary for the rest of our stay. Rooms were nicely updated with comfortable beds but the couches and carpets were quite outdated and stained.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We visited for 4 nights. We had a room on the 6th floor. The room suffered a little from the noise from loud vehicles on the street but there was no noise from any adjoining room or from other floors. The beds were comfortable and both twin beds had 4 pillows. The room has a safe, microwave, iron and small fridge/freezer which were all really useful. We were able to get clean beach towels from reception each day. The location was good for access to Waikiki beach and there were plenty of shops nearby too. Parking was $35 a night which seemed pretty steep and we only rented a car for 1 day so didn't need to use this. The pool was warm but small and with kids we felt a bit awkward as the pool is right outside of other guests rooms so we were worried about noise!! Overall a very pleasant stay and we would use the hotel again.

Overall stay was nice, once we were able to figure out where to park it was fine but getting to that point was a bit of a failure in the beginning. We stayed 3 nights, water was shut off the last morning of our stay between 9-10am so that was fun, pool was closed due to an "emergency" and although it was a non-smoking facility the person below our room smoked at least a pack...called front desk and they took care of it immediately but our last morning there was a bust because we couldn't open our balcony doors because the smoke was coming in...we didn't figure out where it was coming from until it was almost checkout time. They apologized and told us they fined the guest $500 but didn't offer any type of refund to us at all. It's an old hotel too, so floors are uneven and slanted, don't be alarmed though...I'm sure it's safe. haha Location was beautiful though, I attached a pano photo from our balcony.

We loved our stay at the Aqua Palms. We checked in after a late night flight and it was a breeze. We were very fortunate and grateful to have a room upgrade for our honeymoon, we were so moved and appreciative. The hotel is slightly older but we found it to be very clean and renovations done where they were needed. Elevators were timely and we had no issues finding parking, though we did make sure to arrive in the afternoon from our adventures to ensure this. It was quiet, very little street noise was heard and the walls seemed quite sound proof. Housekeeping was every other day and appreciated. The location was wonderful, very close to the beach. We never tried the pool because we were so close to the water. The staff was warm and welcoming and we will definitely stay again in the future! Thank you, Aqua Palms, for making our honeymoon so memorable!

What a great location! I felt like I got the whole Waikiki experience staying here. It's super close walking distance to Waikiki beach, it's got ABC markets on both corners and across the street (3 within a block) as well as Ala Moana mall within 10-12 minute walk. The pool is pretty small and 3-4 feet deep, but it works. Plenty of parking, and an IHOP downstairs. The rooms are just average. Beds are ok, includes a mini fridge but you gotta wash dishes in the bathroom sink. My tub drained slow, and also the whole building has a damp smell to it. But I chalk that up to the humidity and the age of the building. Staff is super friendly. I would stay here again.

  • 5/5 Kristin D. 1 year ago on Google
Great stay here in Oct. Rooms are affordable, but right next to expensive resorts, lots of retail & food options nearby. Close to the beach, short walk. Loved the water station in the lobby. Included a free museum admission which we liked.

They were very rude at the front desk VERY rude attitude an all. The rooms were just horrible I mean disgusting from point a-z as soon as I walked into my room there was a roach on the wall then 2am there were about 30 all over the bathroom on my tooth brush towels tooth paste everything. They moved me to what they called a better upgrade it was a complete down grade an again roaches everywhere I complained an they didn’t care at all didn’t offer anything they looked at me like I was stupid. They charge u a bunch of hidden fees an were suppose to offer local rates with 20% off that didn’t happen. Everything about this hotel was horrible. They didn’t even follow the mask rules and the pool rules. Not even an ice bag for the ice maker it was horrible. Never go to this hotel unless you have no other choice. It was disgusting everything. Even the sliding doors didn’t work broken lamps wall outlets didn’t work

A really lovely hotel especially for young couples. Really great location and good for staying a while :) we enjoyed the hotel and the staff were always delightful and kind. We will definitely be back! A shame that the gym was closed and we weren’t notified but overall a great experience

Nice room and view. Not beachfront but close to the beach. Very small bathroom and housekeeping was absent. Had to ask for towel changes. Parking is also an issue if you are driving. 70% of the parking deck is reserved. We didn't know before checking in and had a very rude experience with a local when we parked in theirs for 5 minutes. If you try to park at night it will be hard finding an unreserved spot. They will have you park in the next parking deck where you have to pay. I suggest getting up as early as possible to move it so you can pay $20 at the least. This is a decent hotel for the most part. Gives discount at the ihop next door.

Great location and friendly staff. Clean rooms, and great prices compared to similar hotels in the area. One tip is to not accept the room that is right behind the elevator shaft. Maybe you will not notice, but to me, it sounded like a jet plane was taking off every minute or so when the elevator was moving between the floors. The front desk knew exactly why I asked for a different room when I mentioned it, so it is obviously an ongoing issue. My advice to management - redecorate the room to include some soundproofing in the walls, and move the bed away from the elevator shaft. Only other tip is that the parking garage is a bit tight to around. Every turn in the garage has a boo boo carved into the concrete from a car hitting it, so my advice is to rent a small car, or skip the car completely if possible. Nothing the hotel can do about it so just be aware.

  • 3/5 Jake S. 2 years ago on Google
You get what you pay for.We were comfortable staying here but our standards aren’t extremely high. The building is older and has its quirks. The floor in our room was not flat, which causes the drawers on our night stand to hang open creating a knee-bashing situation. Got the maintenance guy to above some cardboard under it but it looked pretty janky. The shampoo and conditioner bottles in our shower were filled with water and had grime all around them (gross). They provided shampoos but should have removed that. The bed was comfy and clean. We also really enjoyed the lanai. The pool was small but nice and clean. Elevators were used a lot but they were fine. The parking garage was kind of tricky to find and figure out at first but we never had trouble finding a spot. Just bite the bullet and pay for parking because you won’t find it on the street. We loved the location. Right across the road from Hilton Village. About a 10 minute walk to the beach. There’s a couple ABC stores along the way. We would stay here again but I won’t give it anymore stars unless they take take more pride in their rooms and fix the issues mentioned. The beach towels they provided for a fee were nice to have, but $25 a day is too pricey.

Had a decent experience here. Would stay again. Everything was clean. Smooth check in and check out process. Fairly close (walking and driving) distance to food places. The parking could have been discounted for guest though as it was $30 a day.

Get the AC fixed. At first I thought it was just set to go off whenever the door to the balcony opened but no it just shut off at random times. The furniture needs updating. I stayed here the first time in 2015 and then again in 2019. This year I has to stay somewhere else with ac because it is rather warm in June. I wish the shuttle was still available because Earl and Charlotte were awesome and very reliable. Due to covid the shuttle is not available. Another reason I had to stay at a different location. The pool deck is nice though. And the laundry area is sufficient.

  • 4/5 Alexandra N. 2 years ago on Google
Staff was very friendly and helpful! Room was small for the price, but it did come with a balcony. Elevators are very slow. Pool is nice but a reservation is required due to covid. Free coffee machine and organic sunscreen. About a 10min walk from the beach. They let us keep our luggage there between our checkout time and our flight!

  • 4/5 Ana J. 2 years ago on Google
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Aqua Palms for 9 days. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The front desk staff were delightful and so accommodating. We were given the highest floor with a balcony. Our room was clean, the AC worked well, coffee pot with actual mugs was so nice, and they gave us Mac Nut chocolates for our anniversary. Housekeeping was only available upon request, which I liked better because no one came to our room unless we asked. I think we only requested extra towels once. They do give out beach towels for the beach, which was SO helpful that we didn't need to buy that. I only gave it 4/5 stars because our floors were pretty dirty, our feet turned black and the pool was closed due to a pipe busting. Other than that, a pretty great stay for the price! Parking was $28 a day, but totally worth it since there wasn't any available parking any where else. I would definitely recommend this place!!

We stayed at the Aqua Palms Waikiki while in Honolulu, and it was a nice little hotel. We weren't looking for something extravagant as we were only in Honolulu for 2 days, so the Aqua Palms was perfect. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel is close to many restaurants within walking distance - as we didn't take a rental car while in Honolulu. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget friendly location while visiting multiple islands in Hawai'i. Thank you for the accommodations!

  • 5/5 Katie E. 2 years ago on Google
Really nice, clean, fresh accommodations, super close to the beach and within walking distance of lots of cool restaurants, shops, and attractions! Staff is invariably friendly, courteous, and pleasantly helpful. The elevators sometimes take *forever*, but we'd stay here again in a minute, easy choice! Really great deal for the location and amenities!

  • 5/5 Jeff W. 2 years ago on Google
I recently stayed 7 nights here on a solo trip. I wasn't expecting much, due to the relatively low cost compared to some other options in the area, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is about a 5 minute walk to the beach. My 8th floor room was rather nice and away from most street noise, maid service every 4th day. Friendly staff and bus stop almost right in front of the hotel. No rental car although I've heard it is $28/day extra to park in their garage. My only minor complaint is the SLOW elevators. There are 3 but one has not worked for who knows how long. It frequently takes a long time for an elevator to arrive. I got my fair share of exercise walking up to my room, which was actually 12 floors up after adding in the extra floors for the parking garage. I didn't mind too much since they do not have a fitness center and it was good exercise. I would definitely stay here again.
