We loved our stay! The location is perfect with walkable distances to the beach and Waikiki but also being far from the busyness. Our room was on the top floor with beautiful views, we were out exploring all day and the room was a good size for our needs, we did valet and it’s totally worth it as well as the daily breakfast! Buffet offered everything we needed to get our day started. We recommend going to the signature for happy hour at the bar, call ahead as it’s popular and pint and jigger does not have a lot of food option so stop for a drink or go to the signature instead we visited twice! If you don’t want to pay resort fees and want a comfortable hotel with nice views then look no further

Never again. Checked into a room which didn't match our booking and was extremely dirty, hotel is under construction and no mention of this when placing booking. Basically told not their problem and Manager gave the same response and was only willing to move us if we paid extra. I asked to speak with their Manager and only then did they finally agree to move rooms. Room was acceptable at first, however being on a lower floor (7) right next to the shopping centre wasn't great due the noise of the constant burnouts and revving of car engines. Lifts are inadequate for the hotel size, we were told they were st 80% capacity during our stay and it was a nightmare getting up and down the lifts in a timely manner. They reserve 1 lift for the restaurant and remains unused most of the time. Other than the lobby the place is tired and dirty. Kitchenette missing basic items such as toaster and kettle which we asked for and they didn't stock, common items we had in other hotels across USA. Pool is small and overcrowded most days. Overpriced hotel, was the last leg of our 4 week trip to USA and the most disappointing. Would not recommend and won't be coming back.

Stayed here for 3 days, 2 full nights. Clean room and convenient location. The front desk was also very prompt and accommodating for our early check-in. As we are traveling with a baby and had to refrigerate some of baby’s foods. I love that there is a bridge that attaches the hotel to Ala Moana Mall and it’s located about 20 mins. away from the airport as well. They also have daily housekeeping as well, which is always nice to come back to a clean and tidy room. Some down sides were that the room had no extra pillows, blankets, cups or utensils. There were rush hour times for the elevator where lines would start to form in the lobby for guests that just want to get back up to their rooms. There is an extra charge for valet or self-parking per day. The outside front lobby to get our vehicle was always packed. The water pressure for the bathtub is strong if you wanted to take a bath. But as soon as you switch it into shower mode you lose all of that strong water pressure and it feels like a water gun. I believe for the price tag it’s just a little over priced. Would I stay here again? Yeah but only because of the convenience of the bridge to Ala Moana mall.

Check in was easy. The hotel is CLEAN. No foul smells, it actually has a fresh smell to it. Beds are comfortable. Housekeeping daily was greatly appreciated. The only thing is parking. You may or may not get a spot. Other than that I’m enjoying my stay. Side note even though parking isn’t the best, the location of the hotel is walking distance to food the beach and entertainment. I’d definitely stay here again.

Great accommodations just off Waikiki. If, like us, you were there to spend time in Waikiki then be prepared to walk a bit or take a short bus ride to the heart of Waikiki. We had a Waikiki trolley pass and used that option from the shopping plaza next door. An easy 5 minute walk from the hotel. The staff was very hospitable as were the shopkeepers in the lobby area. Our room was in Waikiki tower and faced Waikiki for a pleasing vista, tho with all the high rises in Waikiki the vista was a little on the narrow side, but the lanai was a fantastic spot from which to enjoy a morning coffee.

Good Location and nice hotel. But it was somewhat outdated and housekeeping sucked. The bathroom was dirty and I mentioned it to the front desk. The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned in ages. The ice bucket/lid and coffee mugs were dirty(pictured), toilet handle was nasty and stains on tables and bathroom cabinets. The beds were comfortable and sheets were fine. I asked for more towels and they brought a bunch of random towels that look like cleaning rags( striped). Staff never mentioned the concierge desk so we missed out on deals for tourist stuff until the last day. It would be 5 stars if housekeeping did their job and it was renovated because the hotel itself was great but the housekeeping not so much.

This hotel was perfect for my stay on Oahu! It is connected to the Ala Moana Center with tons of shopping and food! It is a short walk to Ala Moana beach park and magic island! The staff were amazing and so helpful. Rooms super clean. Close to downtown Honolulu and Waikiki ! And an affordable price! Would definitely recommend !

The front desk staff literally could care less about their customers. Booked an ocean view room specifically with a king and a pull out. The room stinks! And I got a room with 2 full beds. With a city view. Not what I paid for. Asked for 3 keys and he refused to give me more than 1. What kind of hotel does that? Customer service is always lacking here. This is my 2nd visit. The first time I waited for 2 hours to check in (in-line). Don’t expect anything wonderful from this hotel and definitely skip the breakfast. 🤮

Stayed here for over 2 weeks ! Hotel is clean. They have excellent customer service from the parking garage to the bell service. Housekeepers are very helpful and cheerful. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable. The hotel is in a very crowded area of Waikiki with a Skywalk to the Ala Moana Center. Parking is $34.50 a night for hotel guests. Very difficult to find a spot to park after 7 pm. Construction going on with the Waikiki tower. They are redoing the balconies. So balconies on that side are locked and it's loud from around 9-4. But again, will be wonderful once done.

Clean and convenient. Ala Moana hotel has been around for as long as I can remember…I believe it was built in 1970. The rooms are small but functional and the staff responsive. I had to request extra pillows and towels and it arrived within 5 minutes. Parking for hotel guests runs about $35 per day. The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to Ala Moana Center and can be accessed via a walk ramp from the second floor.

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The fire alarm went off while we were there. We were told we had to evacuate at the nearest exit and we could not use the elevators. We had to go down 12 flights of stairs. The railings were filthy and our hands were black from touching the railings. There was urine in the stairwell. And a dirty needle. Once we got to the bottom we were four blocks from the lobby. When we got to the lobby, we were told it was a false alarm and that they had announced that but, the announcement could not be heard in the stairwell as they did not have a speaker system installed there. My husband injured his knee on our way down the 12 flights of stairs and we were unable to continue the rest of our planned and paid for activities. Management did not compensate us for anything and were quite rude to us instead of being apologetic and trying to make it better. Matthew, the manager was the worst. Completely rude and condescending. I do not recommend this hotel in any way, shape or form. Please feel safe to message me with any other questions. I would not want you to have this horrible experience.

The single room I had was very small. Not enough room for me to open up my luggage comfortably. Pulling my luggage over the bed to get to the other side. My room was very clean. I only needed to stay overnight, so I managed. My colleague's fortunately had larger rooms. I definitely would stay at the Ala Moana hotel again. I recommend the Steak restaurant on the 32 floor. Fine dinning , great service, fabulous food.

Beautiful hotel, kind staff, and good rooms. Beds are soft but not too much and the pillows are the perfect amount of firmness. So often hotel pillows are like air so thats really great here! We are enjoying our stay and will definitely recommend friends and family who want to be near the city without being in the city to come here! Plus the fact its connected to the mall is only a 10 minute walk to Ala Moana Beach is amazing!

My only complaint would be the long wait for the elevators. For having 6 we should not have had to wait 30 min. There has to be a better system for programming them. Super convenient that there is a bridge that connects to the parking garage of the mall. Staff were super friendly and overall it was very clean.

The hotel was very clea an comfortable. My only complaint was checking in. There were only two clerks and a large number of us came in around the same time. Took about 45 minutes to check in but once I was at the counter it was quick. Full room cleaning service each day and the room was spotless.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Maybe a solid 2.5 or a low 3.0. Lobby is nice but once you go to the rooms in the tower, the rooms need some loving tender care. Location is good as the hotel is adjacent to the mall.

First time staying here and I must admit I was rather impressed. The rooms are spacious and view can be amazing to if you get an ocean view. The only downside is parking…. Depending on the amount of traffic flowing in and out of the hotel you can find yourself waiting a few minutes for car. Self Parking is $38 and Valet Parking is $45. Valet parking is a much better option in my opinion.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very clean, and the views from the Waikiki tower rooms at least are amazing! So many positive things, and just a couple negatives: this is a condo hotel as well so if you need to extend your stay and the owner of your room is using it for something, then you will need to change rooms. I had to do this, but they gave me a room on a higher floor with an even better view, so I got over it well. Also, bring conditioner for your hair: they have conditioning shampoo... but for me at least, that doesn't do the trick. Last negative: parking is difficult. The garage beneath the hotel is going to always be pretty much full. I paid somewhere around $35 for parking per day, yet had to park near the hotel in designated parking areas and walk a bit, or park in the lower part of the mall parking lot next door... that was a longer walk. Other than these things: beautiful hotel, awesome staff, and I plan on staying again when I return for my next vacation.

Not certain how this got a high rating. It lacks service, the rooms are tiny, and they are in need of a refresh. There’s no room service or laundry service, there isn’t even a coffee table to put your coffee on in the room. The night stands don’t have lights-off, you have to reach or get up to turn off the side table lights. How could this be in downtown Honolulu in the hotel district. I’d rate this a little above a Motel 6, maybe a Comfort Suites, but certainly not a top shelf, high-rise, premier hotel that it wants to claim it is. Was so disappointed. Thank goodness I didn’t plan to spend any time in my 12x12 room because this would have ruined my vacation. This hotel is very DATED. If I were you, I’d book somewhere else. Updating: This morning at 4:45 a.m. we had a fire alarm. Climbed down the stairs, emptied into a dark back alley, no hotel staff to meet you, no one in the lobby to direct you, just left to your own. When complaining got a passive “sorry” and basically “oh well”. Turns out it was a false alarm. Again, a hotel that doesn’t care or know how to be in the hospitality industry.

Such a wonderful hotel! It's connected to the mall, which allows for ease of shopping for food or any other goods you might be needing. It's also a short walk to a park and the beach. There are motorized scooters nearby that allow you the opportunity to ride to Waikiki (should you want to). There is also a Starbucks in the lobby, which was super convenient. When I return, I will definitely stay here again!

The location was convenient because we needed to be close to the Convention Center and it was pretty much across the street. However, this was the most unpleasant hotel stay that I have ever had. The bathroom condition is a big deal to me for a hotel stay. This bathroom was the worst. The shower had mildew on the walls and on the shower curtains. Using fabric shower curtains is not very sanitary for a hotel. There was old used soap still in the shower. Clear evidence that the shower had not been cleaned in a while. The fixtures were old and broken. There was a plunger right next to the toilet, as if it were a part of the decor! I was so glad that I could take my glasses off to try to ignore the grossness of it all. It was requested for housekeeping to clean the shower, but no response. Not to mention the pseudo balcony was weird. The bottom sheet for the bed was just thrown over the mattress! No fitted sheet, no mattress cover, no layers. The carpet was so dingy and almost brown. It was supposed to be blue! The furniture had so many stains. Maybe the Kona Tower is the older part of the hotel. But it needs an update or a least a deep cleaning ASAP! Come to the hotel to enjoy Signature restaurant with the great food and views, but don't get a room.

I paid for an ocean view but I was given a room with the view of the parking lot. I contacted the front desk and they moved me to another room with a better BUT partial ocean view. The bathroom in my room had to be serviced twice while I was there but all staff members I encountered were friendly and very polite. I really liked the location. I was walking distance from a 24 hour super market which came in handy because I arrived at midnight. I enjoyed their pool, starbucks, and restaurant that is attached. There is also a mall right next door with a walkway to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Bedroom are so small that you can’t go in your shower if someone is using the toilet. Location was great! Can’t ask for more. Dirty surroundings because of homeless people though. Staffs are not the greatest except the one person that cleans our room. She was really nice. Lobby hosts are not the friendliest. Parking are the worst in this place. You are paying 35 dollars a night for a safe parking inside the building but we always have to park outside the building and walked 10mins to get to your hotel. Horrible! They said, they will find a parking for you if you can’t find one and one night, we didn’t find any and we went to them and they charged us 45dollars. Ridiculous! Not recommended! It’s a nice hotel, not a question, but crew are lazy as **** there. I came here for my wedding but I regret booking this hotel.

Not what we expected. Small rooms no balcony no covers on glasses and the shower mediocre. The staff was also not what we expected. The owners and employees of the shops and the Starbucks within the hotel where much friendlier than the hotel staff, maybe because they are union workers and figure they cannot be terminated if rude to the customers.

Friend came for surgery. We stayed here. The room was perfect. Asked for extra blanket and towels when we checked in. The maid brought it right away. Its a plus having Starbucks right there in the lobby too!! Will recommend to friends!

Have gone here for business meetings at the lobby Starbucks. It's convenient at times and crowded in other times. Bathroom access is easy, although newly renovated, somehow, their bathrooms have a smell that's unpleasant. Make sure to bring a spray to help your nose out. Seating can be limited from hotel vacationers and airline workers arriving and prepping to leave. Getting to this hotel can be difficult with city traffic and perpetually full at the front of the lobby with valet. The atmosphere inside is nice, the renovation is a definite improvement from before. Despite all the cons, the atmosphere, and ones ability to get work done in groups or solo offset it all

My review is based on the event I went to at one of their ballrooms and not actually staying in the hotel rooms. The venue and food were very good. Staff was helpful, courteous, and attentive. Hotel garage parking was ample, and it is conveniently located next to the Ala Moana Mall. I reserved rooms for my family and had friends stay there but never actually roomed there myself being a local. Everyone has told me it is very nice and clean and inviting. I think room types vary, so choose wisely. If I had a hotel to stay in, I would definitely keep this one in mind also because it is away from the crowded Waikiki corridor but I know some folks love being in the middle of the action. Personally I like being close to the mall and the beach.

We traveled to Hawaii for a conference. Booked here because it is so close to the convention center, and the hotel we were booked at wanted to double our rate when we needed to change the date of our stay. We were a bit disappointed when we got to the hotel, they gave us 2 double beds instead of a king and said the rooms were overbooked. The room did have a fantastic view, however, with a nice little lanai equipped with a small table and two chairs, so we were able to eat some snacks while watching the sunrise/sunset. The views are mostly blocked by other hotels, but that's Oahu these days! The TV does not have streaming services like most of the nicer hotels I've been to. The TV guide channel doesn't even have accurate TV listings. It's not super important, but I need TV noise to sleep so it was an inconvenience for me. I found the mattress to be comfortable. The real reason to book here is it's proximity to the Ala Moana shopping center and the Hawaii Convention Center - this hotel is in between both! I didn't know about the shopping mall before this trip, but it's the largest outdoor shopping mall in the world. And it's full of so much more than your everyday mall would be. We walked around it every day during our stay at this hotel. Overall, it wasn't a bad hotel location, but it was missing a few things that would have made it more comfortable. The cleaning staff was very friendly and did a good job.

This may not be the best equipped hotel, but location-wise, it definitely has its advantages. The hotel is located in between to the Ala Moana shopping center and the Hawaii Convention Center. Plus, you would be only about a 10 minute walk to the harbor. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there in October. A special thanks to Debi and Gavin in the housekeeping department for helping me locate my earrings that I had left behind. Mahalo for all your time spent on this case! If it wasn't for your efforts, I wouldn't thought I had lost my 40th birthday gift from family forever. Thanks a million! Wendy

Stayed here for 2 nights. It is good for people who like convenience to shopping centre. Close back door toward Ala Moana shopping centre. However for beach access, parking, access to bigger space of the rooms, quietness for sleeping and even ventilation, good shower pressure, this hotel does not deliver. I would advice getting a better valued AirBnB nearby, where they have much larger space.

Great location on island. Ala Moana Park across the street is a nice place to hangout. Mall is a quick walk somewhat attached to parking garage. Didn’t know this at the time but Ala Moana Mall is World’s Largest Open Air Mall, with premium stores, great food choices and nice family atmosphere.

  • 4/5 Andi K. 2 years ago on Google
We were overall satisfied with the hotel. Room was great. Our partial ocean view was basically a chunk of ocean to our far left. It was visible, but we saw more parking lot of the Ala Moana shopping center, which is also fine. We had a balcony which was nice for morning coffee. The pool hours were a bummer because it closed at 7 so we usually weren't even back at the hotel by then. Not sure if that's the regular hours or if it's reduced because of COVID. The location was excellent. Literally connected to the shopping center (2nd floor) where you can grab food, drinks, or groceries or just go shopping. (Largest open air shopping center in the US). It was also about a 20 minute walk to Waikiki or 30 minute walk to downtown. Bus stop right outside outside hotel and the bus is a super cheap way to get around the whole island. (Need cash or a Holo card which you can get at the shopping center at the city hall office.) My biggest issue with the hotel was the elevator line. The worst we had was about a 20 minute wait one night. Sometimes there was no line, but sometimes it was excessive.

Friendly and helpful staff at check in, bell hopper, and housekeeping. Convenient location attached to outdoor multi level mall. This hotel is under construction with limited balcony use, it is locked at 4 inches. Business center has not Re-opened post Covid. Clean room though had to ask for soap and pillows!

This is a really great hotel with good clean rooms, attentive, courteous staff, and right next door to the ala Moana mall. It's also not far away from Chinatown or Waikiki. The underground parking is pretty tight so if you have a rental get the compact size. Overall a really great hotel.

Customer service, friendliness, cleanliness, and a welcoming spirit all in one. My mom and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience from anyone in the hotel or in the hotel shops. Everyone has been so courteous and gracious. This has been a wonderful first time experience for us both. I’d like to especially thank Diane and Kailua. Ladies, thank you so much for being so kind to my mother. I wanted this trip to be a once in a lifetime experience for her—I can’t thank you enough.

Nice moderately priced hotel (for Honolulu) next to Ala Moana mall and across from Ala Moana beach park as advertised with several nice amenities including pool, restaurant and Starbucks. The rooms are small but nice, with daily house-keeping service. Lines can be long during busy hours, such mid-afternoon check-in, so consider avoided rush periods - for a example check-in at 6 pm instead of 4 pm.

There are 6 elevators, 1 is permanently reserved for a restaurant and you always have to wait for the other 5 and they're always crowded. Parking is $35/night and you may not even get a spot. Rooms are decent. Nothing fancy, but not bad. Cleanliness was okay. Found lots of hair on bathroom floor and a big toenail in front of the fridge. 15-20 minute walk to waikiki beach. Nice lobby and the staff is nice and helpful.

We had a lovely conference. Facilities were good, but I was freezing. Check out the hand made origami peacock centerpiece. The vegetarian lunch was superb. My room was good, but not much of a view. I didn't expect to have someone come in to make my bed or empty the trash (not usual protocol since COVID) so unfortunately some pens and business cards got thrown out. It was nice to come back after a long day to have a nicely made bed.

Front desk staff are just lovely, very friendly and helpful. Heide in particular was so wonderful to us and made check-in quick and easy after a long 18 hour travel day! She's an absolute gem and goes above and beyond to make sure you and your family are taken care of. Room is also very clean and tidy, bed is surprisingly comfortable and the parking garage is well-lit with plenty of space. Hotel is also in an excellent location - within walking distance to shops and restaurants. If you were comparing hotels to stay at in Waikiki like we were, choose Ala Moana and you won't be disappointed!

Decent rooms for a decent price. Nothing fancy about the dated rooms but they were clean and comfortable. Patio was nice. Location is great. Attached to the mall so lots of inexpensive food options. Beach is a short walk as well as the waikiki trolley line. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

If I could leave 10 stars I would! The staff was very accommodating! The 410 cafe was superb! There is a super mall just steps away, and attached to the hotel! I see all of these reviews on how there are homeless here. NEWS FLASH! There are homeless people everywhere! And this is out of this hotels control! And you should be grateful that you have a chance to be in Hawaii. Don't take things for granted. The bathrooms here aren't even small and are actually larger than my home bathroom! The whole idea of vacation is to step back and enjoy. Not find things to complain about. Y'all be careful cause tomorrow that homeless person can be you! Mahalo Ala Moana, for such an unforgettable experience. God bless!

Nice hotel and convenient walk to mall, food and shops. Rooms were clean but small bathroom (just a minor issue). Elevators sometimes took a while to get on to but most of the time it wasn't too bad. Pool was also nice with lots of cabanas to use.

Nice location. Rooms definitely need an update. Some rooms have a nice view. Others look into a parking lot or an apartment bldg. Nice pool. Great staff. Towels are scarce. Pillows and bedding are sub-par at the least. Nice it have refrigerator and microwave.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any resort. They compare hundreds of booking websites and typically will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is the best rated in the area. I have been coming here for years. If you stay for a few nights you won't regret it. Nice hotel and convenient walk to mall, food and shops. Rooms were clean but small bathroom (just a minor issue). Elevators sometimes took a while to get on to but most of the time it wasn't too bad. Pool was also nice with lots of cabanas to use.

Great hotel to stay at! Make sure you have your SafeTravels QR code ready when checking in. I had no problems with the room; maybe the pillows could be a little bigger. There's a balcony where you have a partial view of the mountains and the ocean. There's a Starbucks on the ground floor which is open at 5:30am and a few souvenir shops. There's a pool as well with spacious rest area. There's a bridge connecting it to the Ala Moana Center, a super-sized mall with plenty of shops and restaurants. You can also walk through the parking garage to reach the beach. You cross the street and you're at the Waikiki area.

We really liked this hotel! The room was clean, we had a beautiful view of the city and mountains, and the air conditioner worked! The bed was a little bit uncomfortable for our tastes, but they readily provided another pillow and blanket when we asked. The hotel is in a great location near many bus lines and reasonable walks to activities without being right on the main tourist strip. There is a pedestrian bridge to the mall next door (although it took us a try or two to master exactly how to get back to the hotel via the bridge). There are also a few dining options within the hotel itself. The one on the top floor is fairly pricey but has a good happy hour menu. The breakfast cafe has fairly limited menu and I don't personally think the price is worth it (how can the fruit be so dismal in Hawaii of all places?) We didn't get a chance to try the cafe at the salon near the pool, but the menu looked reasonable. The Starbucks in the lobby is also pretty handy and the wait isn't bad if you can avoid the prime hours. We also were able to check in an hour early without issue.
