Okay so everyone at the hotel was great and friendly and the hotel itself was very clean. Now for some of my complaints… the windows to the rooms appeared to be missing their seals or in need of replacements. Because of the seals not being replaced we heard loud trucks, people outside yelling, ambulances and my favorite and the reason I am writing this post, construction. I’m sitting here writing this at 6 am because I can’t sleep with all of the beeping noises coming from the construction trucks down on the street below. My next complaint would have to be the water temperature in the shower, whenever we did want to shower you’d have to let it run for at least ten to fifteen minutes to get it to a bare able temperature. Lastly, something to consider before staying at this hotel is all the extra little fees. You have paid for everything, then they hit you with $25 resort fees every day, but I’m not even sure what you are actually getting out of that when we are already paying hundreds to stay here. Then if you want to park a car it’s $35 a day for guests and $50 for everyone else. I guess I’m not understanding why there isn’t a better rate if we’re already paying that other fee. We had an awesome time here in Hawaii but needed up spending the majority of our time in the north shore away from the crowds and loved it even more. This hotel otherwise was not bad to stay at and it definitely got the job done for the little bit of time we spent in the room. Again not a bad hotel but you ought to know these things before you choose to stay here.

While the hotel is a bit dated, the property was very family-friendly and the location was super convenient. We were greeted warmly upon arrival at the hotel by concierge and front desk staff. Check-in was quick and friendly. Our 1 bedroom partial ocean view suite was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The balcony gave us fantastic views of the ocean, the mountains and Waikiki! We also stayed in a 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms suite, which was comfortable but not quite as great and somewhat misleading. It was basically two single queen bedrooms connected by a small enclosed hallway with the kitchenette and dining table completely situated in one of the bedrooms. If you like value space and plan to use the kitchenette often like we did, this suite is not recommended. The pool was undergoing maintenance during our stay so we made use of the rooftop pool and hot tub at their sister property, Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger, which was close by and really nice. Just a bit of a hassle carrying swim bags, beach towels and gigantic tubes. There is a self-service coin laundromat located at street level, which was super convenient. The hotel is also surrounded by plenty of shopping (right next door to The International Marketplace) and dining options, and situated only a block away from Waikiki Beach. Housekeeping was very friendly whenever we passed by in the halls, and the front desk staff were always so helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel and excellent location. The hotel is close to the beach and downtown. The view from the balcony is good; we can see part of the ocean from our room. The staff was very friendly. They know we like tea, so they left us extra tea bags in the room. As most of the hotels now, we paid for parking.

Centrally located. A couple of blocks from the beach. Restaurants and coffee shop with breakfast on-site. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little dated in some ways and updated in certain areas. The rooms were roomy. I will definitely stay again.

I made a reservation early enough to get a King room with view at a very good price. I would like to give them 5 stars but I do have 2 issues. First of all, there is no microwave in the room. Secondly, the restroom is very small that they can only fit in a shower instead of a tub. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay.

Loved the location and outstanding, friendly and attentive service by all staff! 🤩🤩👍🏻👍🏻 Any issues I had were promptly and efficiently resolved without having to follow-up, and the price and close proximity to the beach, shops, and restaurants can’t be beat! 👍🏻👍🏻 My only complaint would be that the hotel and rooms are woefully outdated and could use a modern update, but otherwise the room was very clean and fairly roomy compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at on the mainland, the a/c was super powerful which is why we’d shut it off after only half an hour, and the bed was very comfortable. 👍🏻👍🏻 I will definitely stay here again whenever I return to Waikiki! 🤩🤩👍🏻👍🏻

I cannot express enough how wonderful my stay here was. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure to help meet my needs whenever they arose. Sarah was the most memorable front desk worker and she deserves the largest raise. She was spectacular to speak with and I found myself just stopping and chatting with her. The coffee shop located here is fantastic as well. I loved every coffee they gave me in the mornings.

Great location, but the hotel is definitely a little run down and in need of an update. They just finished the pool renovation which looks fantastic. The hot tub is a nice feature. The gym is functional. Staff was very nice. The best thing about the hotel is that you are one block from the ocean and it’s in a very walkable location.

The staff and location is what makes this place great! This is not a 5 star hotel but has a much more local feel. The breakfast cafe in the lobby is just the right mix of local flavor and atmosphere and food. We miss it already! The staff is outstanding from the front desk at check in to room service. I forgot a whole drawer of clothes and they boxed it up for me and sent it back to the mainland. The rooms are older and the beds are really double beds that really won’t sleep two adults so take note. They were more then accommodating with a role away but after traveling to Hawaii, probably don’t want to sleep on that. The pool was closed but that gave us access to the other property pools that were right on the beach! Can’t complain about that for sure! Rooms need a remodel as showers are smaller and older but worked just fine. Overall I’d stay there again for sure just because of staff, the cafe, and the location!

It’s the location !! And the price! Who actually hangs out in their hotel room in Waikiki. As long as the beds are comfortable (and they are) this will do! The pool is under construction, and the carpets need a deep clean but again, the location and price is why I keep coming back to the east

An older hotel, but very clean and cozy. This hotel was much more comfortable for my budget. Also, I enjoyed the Japanese Restaurant and coffee shop connected to thr hotel. I am so grateful that we stayed there. They communicated that there pool was being renovated so we were invited to swim at their sister property. We were even upgraded to the penthouse on our very last night in Hawaii! I will never forget the hospitality and attention to detail.

Service was perfect, location was excellent. The rooms were just meh... It was clean, water and electricity were fine. However, my biggest complaint is the room noises. I got in on a late flight so it was quiet when I went to sleep. Around 8am though, when I wanted to sleep in, I kept waking up thinking someone was knocking on my door or coming in my room, and each time I looked up or checked the door, no one was there. I feel like having a place to get a quiet, restful sleep is a hotel fundamental. That's why I'm giving it two stars. There are plenty of other hotels in this area to choose from.

The hotel staff was very accommodating, however the rooms are cramped, outdated and originally we had a room where you could barely walk around in it and could hear the elevators going up and down constantly. After talking with the front desk, they kindly switch us to another room. The hotel was a nice 5 minute walk to the beach and close to many restaurants and shops. It was also a neat that they had a person in the lobby that helped plan your activities on the island. Overall it was an average stay.

Staff were AWESOME! They really were very welcoming that it made my family and I feel well at home and our stay a breeze. The rooms are not modern but have a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Housekeeping were in everyday and even they were awesome with their smiles and kind personalities. Location is perfect. Located on a road where it’s not busy, and the two main roads it’s connected too are great for tourists. Waikiki beach is literally 5 or less minute walk with restaurants and places to eat near by. The atmosphere in the lobby has to be my highlight !! They had the whole Hawaii vibe going on and honestly I would recommend it. I’d come back here.

Location was the best part of the hotel. Everything including tour shuttle pickup, food, shopping spots were very close. The room did not have a balcony and had a not so pleasant view. It was a lot smaller than we thought and just out of date. It did have a fridge and was clean. The service and hospitality was very nice. Everyone was very helpful and polite and it also had a nice Cafe.

We had a great stay! The housekeeper was amazing. Our room was cleaned every day and she did a great job. Short walking distance from Waikiki beach. Would stay again. Just a heads up: the pool was under construction when we went mid August 2022. If you arrive late you might have a hard time finding a parking spot.

The hotel itself is outdated and showing its age. The rooms are OK. The beds are a little hard, but the pillows are great. It's actually very quiet considering the location. Get a room not facing the street and away from the elevators. The staff are super friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The wonderful housekeepers on the 12th floor made sure we had whatever we needed when we needed it. Will stay again when we holiday again in Hawaii.

The service here has been exceptional. The room was clean. We have spent every evening after our adventures in the hot tub, just at the perfect temp. Only reason for 4 stars for this location, we're country folks in paradise and this place is in the middle of the metropolis. A little overwhelming. If city love is your thing you'll be right at home.

Great location close to the beach, buses and restaurants. We stayed for 10 nights in August 2023 and they were still working on the refurbishment of the swimming pool that was started months ago The room was fine, a balcony big enough for us to sit on. Bathroom adequate, but very dated. Room was cleaned daily with new towels provided. I would be happy to return but only when the pool is finished….they did offer pool privileges at a sister resort, but I really missed being able to just go down for a swim after being out all day in the heat.

I stayed here for 1 night in October. The location was really good, it was only a 2 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the main strip where there is shopping. Service was good & rooms were basic but nice. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in the perfect location to walk to just about everything. Check in was easy and the staff throughput the hotel were wonderful, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.the reason I gave it a 3 is because the hotel is showing its age and us in need of some serious updates. Also, the bathrooms were quite small. Need to shave your legs? You'll do the Hokey Pokey dance to reach them! I just love the staff here. They're Ohana!

  • 5/5 Jayna L. 1 year ago on Google
We had originally booked another hotel that as miserable. We booked a room with Ohana East last minute. The staff at the front desk were beyond helpful especially Tracy. She got us into a room earlier than expected and upgraded up to a high floor. The room was clean and twice the size of the previous hotel There were plenty of towels. Parking was also less expensive here than the other hotel. The option to use a hospitality room was wonderful as we had a late flight. We will stay here again.

Not too bad. The outlets were all a little finicky in the rooms so had to push the bed against phone charges to make sure my stuff got charged overnight. The shower is a little tight but bearable for the price. Mini fridge in room was super appreciated to keep our food and drinks cold! Keep in mind AC on the island is rare so the vent in each rooms labeled lo-medium-high are quite a luxury. At night of course it cools down so it’s not too bad but if you’re someone who needs it to be in the 60s you might not want to stay here. The staff was also super friendly and helpful, from the front desk, to downstairs bellman.

Checked in early with a $100 fee, paid the "resort fee" and we didn't use any of the amenities, would have used the pool but it was under renovation and wasn't told we could use the pool at another property. booked a (two-bedroom) wasn't really a two bedroom it was two separate rooms 1024 and 1025 that also shared a "main door". Keys didn't work - tried numerous times finally got 1 key to work the "main door" so we had to leave the other doors open so we could get in our room. Over all it was a good trip, but paid way too much for the rooms we got. They only have 1 hospitality room, which we didn't even get to use because they gave it to someone else.

The staff was awesome very friendly and always willing to help. The place is a bit outdated, but my biggest gripe were the thin walls, had some neighbors who stayed up till 3 am, and kept waking us up, they were not being particularly loud. The place was clean, beds so so, but comfortable enough to get a good night sleep. Their pool has been out of order for several months, but you can go use the one at one of their other properties about 5 minute walk from there. A bit of an inconvenience, but not too bad.

WOW! Fantastic hotel visit. Angela was super during check-in and remembered our name when we were settling in and asking questions. We requested extra amenities such as extra towels and shampoo and they were quick to help us out. The manager was great as well especially as we sang Angela's praises. Thank you for a great but short stay. This was our second time staying at this site. Comfortable and quiet. If we come through Honolulu again...we will stay here again!!!

I stayed here with friends 6-8 May. I was located in a prime position for access to shops, restaurants and the beach. The staff were absolutely lovely. The rooms and the building itself were all a bit tired; a little bit 80s (much like myself!). Overall it was a comfortable couple of days and well worth the money.

This hotel is close to everything either way you go. Awesome location. It's not on the the beach only 3 minutes away, but those hotels on the beach will be twice as much if not more. If you want an ocean view this may not be for you. Also this hotel is extremely dated and could do with an update. However, it was clean and the service you got made up for what was lacking. The ladies on the front desk were awesome served us well and were very accommodating to our needs. At the end of the day you do just sleep in the room. Well maybe not but you get my idea. Well priced too. So if your looking for economy and don't really mind not having a major fancy hotel this is it.

Our stay here was top notch. Such a perfect location to the beach, less than a 5 minute walk. Staff was friendly, they provide beach towels as many as you need, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Shower is small so be aware, and don’t leave your balcony doors open while you’re out, birds do fly by/in the room sometimes. You’re close to all the best spots in Waikiki and the parking is pretty easy. I’d highly recommend staying here!

When we try to get that early check in, we arrived there at 10:30. The two older ladies mentioned that it would be ready at 1. Once we called at 1:10, it wasn’t ready. I thought it would be nice to offer to put our room as priority list. I have been checking every 30 mins, my girlfriend and I been waiting at the lobby for an hr. Finally at 2:30 when the new front desk agents clocking in for there shifts. I asked them about the status for our room and it’s ready. I want to thank Jason for being friendly and helpful to provide us a maintenance guy to fix the light in our bathroom and giving me extra key when I left it in the room.

  • 5/5 Surf D. 2 years ago on Google
The front desk staff was friendly, and helpful, the parking was significantly cheaper than the other hotels in the area. The interior is slightly dated, with a big however!!!! The room you get with this hotel is significantly larger than you would pay comparatively. I've moved between 3 hotels, and this although having a early 2000's theme, this hotel was vastly superior in cleanliness, size and value.

We booked a family suite but we’re instead given two adjacent rooms. There was no couch or seating area as pictured on the site. The pool was closed for repairs, and that was not disclosed ahead of time. (You are able to walk to use a pool at a different property). Hot water for showers only available once during the week. The rooms are decently clean and the location is good.

  • 5/5 Janet B. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice stay for a week. The staff was hospitable and catered to our needs. The hotel is central to everything in Waikiki. It is close to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center where you'll find many restaurants, cafes, shops and many other things to keep you busy. This hotel is close to everything in every direction, it is central. If you are staying in Waikiki this hotel would be a great option for the beach, shopping, restaurants, and just a night out all within walking distance. The rooms were clean and spacious. The ocean view rooms on higher floors are definitely worth the splurge. If you can't be at the beach at any given moment your may as well sit on your balcony and watch it as you can do from this hotel. Mahalo.

The pool was out of commission, the toilet doesn’t work even after getting it fixed. We are a family of four requiring the pull out bed and there wasn’t any extra bedding, when we requested it we had to make an additional request for pillows and then we realized we didn’t have a blanket and we gave up. Maybe it’s covid and they are under staffed, but they are not meeting expectations.

A wonderful Outrigger family friendly hotel in Waikiki! We loved the Aloha atmosphere of all staff workers and the beautiful city views from the lanai ❤ The Hotel is about 1 1/2 block from Waikiki Beach & close to restaurants & shops. The hotel is a bit older but well-kept and clean. The best part of staying here is the way staff does their best to please it's guest! Mahalo Ohana East for doing such a wonderful job! 🏖🏢💕

Update… Denise took care of us… after the complaint. We were satisfied with the outcome. We were moved to another hotel and Outrigger honored the price of the hotel we booked at… No notifications prior to arrival that the pool was closed. Reserved a room with a view of the beach. I have a view of the parking lot and a peek a boo view of the beach. I was giving a different room but had thought about it and the hotel misleads you that they have views. Come on! Was told I could go to their sister hotel for the pool. While the hotel did put me & husband in a different room this hotel and credited the resort fee it doesn’t have beach view rooms and doesn’t have a functional pool. They should have offered to move us to the other hotel they are associated with. I came for my daughter’s wedding and the fist day we were here sucked!
