Disappointed! Pagoda Hotel Rycroft ownership changed in April 2022, no longer Aston Hotels, was told to me by rude front desk person. Said "everyone is the manager at the desk!" ? Plus, our local Kamaaina discount didn't hold up. Price jacked up double during part of our stay. Not as clean as before, a bit crusty & it's an older hotel that shows wear. Had the hotel staff tell us that they had to come in our hotel room & check the ceiling? We waited & they showed up at about 4pm? So had to stay in all day at the hotel to watch our stuff, or carry all of it with us, & so we missed our meetup with family. Newer Pagoda staff were not accommodating, polite or professional like the old owners. Lost our previous balance /credit towards future stay. Next time, we prefer to stay elsewhere. So disappointed!

The room needs to be cleaned prior to guest checking in. I found dried noodle pieces by the sink. Toilet needs cleaning. Carpet needs cleaning...musty smell. Staff was nice and friendly. Location makes it very convenient to get around.

For the value, it's a decent place to stay. Very old hotel but you can tell they try their hardest to keep it clean and tidy. Pool area was nice, little store in the hotel was convenient for last minute needs. Cleaning staff always got us what we needed. One thing that really bothered me was how dirty the window was in our room! We had a nice view but it would've been nicer to see through a clean window. Location is very convenient also. For the price I would stay again.

We had a short vocation in Oahu and stayed in this hotel for three nights. Pros: The hotel is located in a nice area with shopping center, beach, Waikiki busy area close by. They provide $5 discount for each person for the breakfast ( so we paid $5/each). The breakfast is good. Cons: the front desk person was arrogant, unhelpful, and impatient. We paid them $25 for overnight parking. They didn’t explain how should we do. When we reached out to the desk in the evening, they were impatient and told us we had to go to other places (collaborating with Pagoda hotel) first to figure out if there are vacancy spots, although there were lots of vacancies close to us. Eventually, we spent ca. 40 min for parking. No body wash, shampoo. Soap is provided.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any resort. They compare hundreds of booking web sites and typically will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure will love it I'm sure! Friendly staff, especially the guy who runs the little shop..super nice. Room was spacious and quite for the most part. Location is very good for waikiki trips and plenty of things to do. Koi pond is awesome.

It was ok. Some pros, there is a microwave and fridge . The A/C worked . The location was great and accessible to many areas with a short drive. The rooms were a nice size. There was soap and towels . Cons, I felt blindsided by the change in price for the resort fee and parking being more than double what was advertised on the website. I checked the day before we arrived. I was also shocked that the museum amenities still being advertised on the website were no longer available. It wasn't that they increased the rate, but that they didn't bother to update the website to reflect that. They were supposed to be more of a budget hotel, and with this price hikes I might as well have gone to somewhere nicer. The no housekeeping until day 4 of your stay was also a bit too extreme for me. Especially when you give such small trash bins. Having to call 24 hours ahead of if I wanted more towels was a big inconvenience . Having to pay $15 if you wanted early housekeeping was also not a practice I liked. They gave you a coupon for breakfast, but in reality the price of the meal was coming out of the resort fee, so you are paying for the entire meal. Plus the $5 you still had to pay. Parking was very limited and if the parking lot was full you had to park in the 4th floor of the Ross across the street from the hotel and then walk up to the crosswalk to get back to the hotel. Another inconvenience for me. If I had known about their many inconveniences , I would have stayed somewhere else. But after paying for our week stay, parking and resort fee, we were committed to stay. Overall, it's not the worse when you know what you are signing up for. I personally will not be back.

Would have given 5 stars but BEWARE: the price they sell online doesn't include a "resort fee" that is several hundred dollars. With the fee included, they're actually the same cost of several hotels nearer to Waikiki. About a 25 min walk to Waikiki, but really located near lots of good Asian food, this is a cheap, no frills hotel. The pool is small, but usable. Pretty quiet. I got a studio with kitchenette, which was alright; could improve bug control, but it's the South Pacific.

If you're just looking for a room with a shower and a bed, this is a great place to stay. The rooms are nothing special, but they have a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and fridge, so that's a nice plus. The location is perfect for getting around the city area and if you rent a car, the parking is plentiful and there's a freeway entrance not too far. If you go to breakfast, be hungry, the food quantity is quite big. Don't be fooled by the price, the quality is pretty good. The pool is a decent size if you just want to relax and be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to feed the koi. They're very cute and it's a few minutes of entertainment. All the staff was friendly from check-in, breakfast servers, security, and groundskeeper. Be sure to give a little aloha to them.

Park at the Ross parking garage...much cheaper. It's a crosswalk away from the hotel. Staff is friendly. Pool closes super early. (6pm). Elevators are ridiculously slow and between the hours of 7AM to 9:30AM..all you hear are doors slamming shut. Check out is 11AM..but it's within walking distance to Ross, Walmart, a grocery store, Sam's Club and Panda Express. Lots of hidden fees..check the fees before booking

It’s an ok hotel. Yes the hallway did smell musty, our AC unit was loud, and apparently we did have roaches in the room but it still wasn’t a bad place to stay. Hubby and I figured its just old and therefore just has more issues. The service was pretty good, we liked the little shop downstairs, the pool, and the koi pond. Beds could probably be upgraded ( they felt really springy to me). It looked like the owners did try to keep the place nice although it does show its age. Overall it wasn’t too bad…but they definitely have some issues to work on.

I stayed at this location 1/7 until 1/11 The staff there was warm and friendly, they made me feel at home 10000 miles away. The coin laundry was clutch and the guy in the store is very nice the hospitality of the hotel was great and I loved the $5 breakfast I almost didn’t want to leave they were so accommodating my preferred stay when I visit Beautiful Honolulu

Wonderful hotel to stay at. My wife and I have been here for a few days and it was great. The staff are friendly and excellent in providing help. Also, the hotel is not located near a tourist trap. So food and entertainment were at a reasonable price and not overpriced. Will definitely come back here again

By chance we found this hotel and I'm going to say what a gem of a place this was, we arrived at 6am in Honolulu and they offered luggage storage but when we got there we had the chance to do early check-in so we were able to go to our room and relax for a bit before starting our day. Being a person who loves mindfulness getting to feed the Koi in the mornings was a great way to start the day. Overall the room was clean and tidy, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My only issue was the bath leaked but considering we didn't really use it, it wasn't a problem for me. If you are looking for a great value hotel I highly recommend the Pagoda.

It's easy to tell it's not the Four Seasons but by Waikiki standards it's a good value. Also, location was perfect for our needs. Staff appears to be doing their best to keep an aging hotel clean and acceptable.

Amazing Hotel One of the best value for money! Perfectly clean, nice employees, a mini market and a delicious 5$ breakfast with 5 different opportunities to choose between eggs, pancakes, sausage and Müsli. There's a machine for lending DVDs and a PlayStation in the rooms. The hotel is in a quite central position!

Very poor experience checking in. They charge for everything. Charge to check in early, charge to check out late, charge if lose key, security deposit was super high. Charge for amenities and a bunch of other stuff it was ridiculous. Was willing to pay for parking but they didnt have anything available. Room had kitchenette but no pans/pots/kitchen stuff is provided. Entrance was great with lots of green. Only good thing about this place

Convenient location. Room smelled musty. Linens worn. Toilet had a big rust spot at the bottom. Had to hold lever down to completly flush toilet. Room was out dated & dark. Got kamaaina rate but they add accommodation fees $28/night + if u have a car $29/night plus all the taxes etc. Paid almost $200/night to stay there. Not worth it.

It was great experience. They have breakfast, parking and very nice cleaning ladies. It feels like it’s not enough cleaning staff in the hotel because these ladies always looked very overworked. No cockroaches :) that pleasantly surprised us. Clean hotel.

It's a nice hotel to stay at an affordable price, which is a lot to say at Honolulu. Breakfast is good and cheap (see the pictures). It has a small shop inside, swimming pool and the restaurant seem very cool. Staff is friendly.

As much as its aged, the atmosphere and the friendly familiar faces add a touch of homey-ness here. Breakfast team was awesome too! Loving the perfect balance of island and oriental ambience and warm, mellow service here. Hands down, super convenient location too! Parking however, whoa the cost has really gone up; low-key missing the old parking arrangements.

I dont know much of Asian culture but if you're kind, respectful and courteous you will have a wonderful time at this hotel. It is located next to the most convenient stores and restaurants. Pricing is affordable, rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is attentive. Make sure to visit the Pagoda Restaurant and see all the fish 🐟🤙

PERFECT…if you would like to experience what it would be like to sleep inside a bar. The hallway and room smelled like cigarette smoke, I called the front desk and the guy said the entire hotel was non-smoking, and just like that, problem solved. I originally booked 2 nights but I just couldn’t stay there another night so I canceled the 2nd night and stayed somewhere else. Overall, it did not feel like a safe or clean place for my family, I do not recommend.

Security is cool. They know what's going on but they wait on making contact, usually just minding their own business. You have to have a key card in the elevator. This place is clean. The rooms look like they were set up to deliver babies with sinks right next to the bed. Reasonably priced.

Service was exceptional, check in and check out was a breeze. The parking fee is a little high, but right across the street is a parking garage for Ross's and they charge half the cost to park. There's also street parking that's free from I think 6pm to 6am everyday (if you can find one) The location is great, Walmart, Sam's Club, Ross's, Ala Moana...all in walking distance, not to mention all the different restaurants around there. Overall it's a great (old) hotel that might need some renovations soon. Has a little musty smell from being old, but didn't experience any bugs or anything, so that's a plus. When I go back to Hawaii, I'll probably stay there again because of it's great rates

The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were hard as rocks. The $5 breakfast was great. Feeding the kois was a treat. The pool was small but cool and refreshing. Lots of construction nearby. Walmart is walking distance.

If you can stay in a different place, avoid this hotel at all costs. Cockroaches in each room, I’ve change my room twice and all rooms had them. The pictures on the website don’t show how dated the hotel is. The alarm was going off one morning for half an hour, and you cannot call them to figure out if it’s real or not because the number is cut after one or two signals.

Don't trust housekeeping. My daughter took off her Jewelry and left it by the lamp near the bed. Went to eat lunch and she realize that she didn't have it on. Went back to the room and it was gone. Talk to the front desk. They sent us to house keeping. Housekeeping made excuse for their workers claiming that their workers worked there for 20 something years. And try to flip it on us, like it was our fault. Someone in housekeeping is a lair and a thief. The supervisor saying that's why they have a safe in the room. Hello, my daughter is only 13 years old. She only took it off when she went to sleep. She forgot to put it back on because we was rushing he. when we went out to eat lunch. How are you goung to blame a 13 year old and anyways I know when emptying trash and changing towels, your works shouldn't be snooping through paying customers personal property. It doesn't matter if they work there for 20 something years. You don't know if they took it or not. Who else would come into the room and take it. They couldn't answer that question. So they had to blame my 13 year old daughter saying that it was an irresponsible thing for her to do. Making like we the parents should teacher her better. I am very upset. They are very unprofessional. The supervisor is worst to blame a child. I'm a manager. You never blame paying customer's. You try resolve the situation in a professional way. Not to make the situation worst.

Checked in at 3. No rooms clean for me. For the $33 a night tack on resort fee, as if the rooms aren't pricey enough, they could hire more cleaners or put some hustle in it. I know it Hawaii slow service for super high prices is normal here, but still is still irrating when I could do the job faster myself while I am waiting for them.

Pros: Wonderful people. Rooms were clean. AC worked great! Loved feeding the coi fish. Quick response from maid service and the repair department. The beds were very comfortable. The "kitchenette" came with a sauce pan, a skillet, and a large Dutch oven. There were a spatula, a slotted spoon, carving knife, and manual can opener. Dishes were plate, bowl, and coffee cup. Knife, spoon (soup and teaspoon), fork were supplied. Cons: Service was incredibly slow at the front desk. Language a barrier here. Rooms a mix of 60's and recent construction changing a suite to two rooms. Very odd having a bathroom sink, right next to my bed, being designated as the "kitchen sink". Washing dishes and pans was an act of juggling! I had to pay $9.00 a night extra for wifi. This also got me a daily newspaper (only received it once in 2 1/2 weeks), unlimited DVD videos (first come first serve at a DVD vending machine) and 1 at a time, and free food for the coi fish. Don't go outside after dark, high crime area. They only change your sheets and make your bed every 3-4 days but they did knock on my door asking if I needed maid service (waking me up) but when I came back after a 4 day unexpected stay at the hospital the room hadn't been serviced at all. The blankets were thin and when I requested another it had a rather large hole in it! The "kitchenette" consisted of the aforementioned bathroom sink, a single hot plate, a mini fridge, a toaster, and a 2 cup coffee maker. The mini fridge, coffee maker and toaster were inside the closet while the hot plate was on it's own counter across from the bed. Overall, I was not impressed. I gave it a 2 star rating simply because the employees were kind even when we couldn't understand each other.

We stayed here for 10 days and loved it. The location is perfect for shopping and right by some great restaurants. Hotel staff were attentive and pleasant. The $5 breakfast was unbelievably good. We never had trouble parking as there are several spaces, and meters with free nighttime parking. This is not a super fancy hotel - the rooms are very modest, but clean. (We stayed on the 12th floor which may have been updated more recently than other floors.) We had one issue with a shower, not working properly but by the time we got back from morning fishing trip, it was fixed. Will definitely stay here again when we come visit family who live across the street. Mahalo for a great stay!!!!

We stayed at Pagoda Hotel for 24 days. We are so happy with our stay and want to give a huge shout out to Lynda who took care of all our needs and answered our questions with grace and warm hospitality. She even called our room to meet our request. What awesome customer service! We also want to thank Pagoda security for saying hello, reading the note we left on our door, and relaying the message to the front desk. The housekeeping staff are friendly and always try their best to take care of us. Cleaning the room over this length of time can be challenging, but Nancy would always ask us if we needed anything or she gave us extra towels immediately upon request with a smile. We love Pagoda!

Decent, old-school hotel with friendly, attentive, and welcoming staff. Great location surrounded by restaurants of every description. Convenient to downtown Honolulu sights like the local museums. Great house breakfasts in adjoining dining hall at very fair prices. Small shop on site and a decent out-door pool. Nothing ultra-fancy but good for a short stay.

It's a bit dated inside but the price is decent. Rooms and spacious and clean. The room air conditioner is so loud, I don't know how anyone sleeps with it on. Evening when you turn it off your can hear the neighbours'. The elevator is flakey, it often takes several attempts to activate so you can access your level.

  • 2/5 Petri808 M. 2 years ago on Google
The location is nice, price reasonable, but the service was poor. Front desk didn’t acknowledge me , just kept their heads down until I spoke up, both on check in & check out. My key card had to be redone 3 times over a 4 day stay. Got bit by a flea the first night in the room but luckily no other incidents. Elevator went down one day. Security one night just left a guy stuck in the elevator cause he didn’t have a key to go up despite two of us standing there waiting, just went back to his security desk until I said something. When I asked the guard how do we get up if the guy won’t come out, he got out of his chair in a huff like it was a bother. Luckily the guy got out. I accidentally left my $100 custom pillow in the room after check out, when I called back the same day, the receptionist wouldn’t help me because lost & found was already closed. I called the next day, lost & found still doesn’t answer, reception then said nothing was logged as found in the room. The only way no one would have found it is if housekeeping didn’t make the bed and notice an odd pillow in a completely different printed pillow case! They didn’t even offer to have someone double check. I love the location, but I don’t think I’ll go back.

The staff were excellent, and the breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. The hotel has diverse services and is in a great location for access to downtown Honolulu. Laundry was also reasonably priced, we would suggest bringing powdered laundry soap if you are on a budget.

Our stay at the Pagoda was marred on registration when the two receptionists tried to get us to pay additional tourist taxes although we'd already paid them on booking.com. The hotel is tired and in need a redecoration. They say owning to covid the rooms are only serviced every 4 days. I think this is a lame excuse for not serving the rooms and looking after their guests. They are very stingy on dishing out the coffee for the room only giving out a bag at a time unless you insist on more. All on all I'd recommend staying somewhere else if you need more than one night.

This is an ok hotel if you’re on a budget or not planning on spending time in your hotel. We were assigned to a room that had a running ozone machine. It notes on it “FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. POTENTIAL HEALTH HAZARD EMITS OZONE.” I was shocked at the room air when I walked in and didn’t even read the machine thinking it was some kind of AC unit. This could have been extremely hazardous. I have respiratory problems and prolonged exposure could have been a health hazard. I tried calling from the hotel phone which was muffled and the call was dropped. I will however commend the staff who was nice, apologetic, and refunded some of the “resort fee” in lieu of the mistake and did immediately assign us a new room when we retreated back to the lobby. I understand this was a mistake. The new room had a few issues like we didn’t feel it was too clean as there were faded carpet stains, the toilet runs at night, and the sink faucet handle leaked at the base when in use. We did inform them upon leaving. There are resort type fees to include things like the WiFi and parking pass needs to be purchased if needed ($25 a night). The positives were that the staff was friendly, were attentive to the issues we brought up, and it was central to places we were going. They also include $5 breakfast coupons to their restaurant, free dvd rental, and families seemed to enjoy the pool- but I can’t comment on these things as I didn’t try them.

The price of the hotel $241.83 for one night! This is NOT a luxury hotel. This place is in a crummy part of town. Places like this are the reason the local community is suffering. This is more than Waikiki!!! They are taking advantage and are committing fraud. Check in at 7pm and leaving in the morning. This is more than $20 and hour for this room. Do they even pay the staff that much?!?!?! The Hotels should be stopped!!!!! They are killing the community

This is a very good budget hotel, I know most hotels in the mainland offers continental breakfast, but here in Hawaii it is not customary. However, Pagoda offers a $5 coupon that could be used at their restaurant. We regularly had their sunshine fried rice with ham and bacon. They also have Guava Juice! Their rooms are somewhat outdated, they even have a sink beside the bed. Lol. But, it was good for overall use. We only used the hotel a couple of days because of a last minute emergency. But the experience was as expected.

  • 5/5 Sheng J. 1 year ago on Google
We stayed here for five nights. The hotel is located outside of Waikiki. To get there you need walk a couple of blocks and take bus #8. Or if you have a car, they offer parking for $25 per night. We did both and worked great for us. Hotel is within walking distance of the 24-hour convenience store Don Quijote, which became our favorite store during our stay, where you can buy food and drink at any time. Hotel did not have daily housekeeping service but you can call front desk if you need something such as new towels and shampoo. The response was good so we were ok with it. A little noisy in the morning when city trash trucks were working. Highly recommend their $5 Sunshine breakfast with coupon. Tried pancake sandwich and French toast with Portuguese sausage. It was delicious👍
