This is a great place to stay as long as you do not require a pool - and are okay walking 15 minutes into Waikiki. I love the location. The rooms are nice, the food is fine - not amazing but good enough. The views are amazing. If you like a casual low key vibe right ON the beach - this is for you.

Our stay at this hotel was great! Right on the beach and near lots of park amenities like tennis courts, soccer field, and basketball courts. Wide open stone walkway to run alone the shoreline. Great views of Diamond Head and close, easy access to gas stations and restaurants. The older part of the hotel doesn’t have an elevator but it is key access to get to stairs. Our room was 302 or 304 I believe. We had the corner room on the third floor and it was awesome! Very roomy and loved the large balconies and 3 sliding doors to access each side. We still had a partial ocean view. Room was always nice and cool. Fridge and microwave worked great. The vanity had two sinks so it was easier to get ready. Room was always clean everyday and everyone was always super nice to us. Definitely will stay here again.

I just loved my stay here, so much that I extended it twice. What a beautiful hotel, with the awesome open air lobby (and delicious/gorgeous Hau Tree restaurant) fully open directly to the beach. The rooms were spacious, recently renovated and so clean — I had a beach view room which had massive floor to ceiling windows and a porch with insane views (see the picture attached). At night the restaurant was truly gorgeous, with lanterns and the sound of the ocean. The key to this hotel’s charm is that it is in a part of Waikiki that is just so much nicer, cleaner and more laid back than the rest, with the most relaxed blue and green water beach on one side and Diamond Head on the other. The staff is so, so kind and helpful — Orlando even extended my stay in my gorgeous room at half the price. The vibes are calm, the restaurant is so relaxing, and the atmosphere is light years better than what I experienced in other touristy parts of Honolulu. The restaurant attracts locals and tourists alike, and the food is absolutely amazing. Just stay here. Can’t recommend it enough. And get the pancakes at the Hau Tree… such a treat. I’ll be back for sure!!

Spectacular. Room with sunset and beach view with gentle hubbub and sound of waves from below. Staff were 100% delightful at every interaction. Restaurant is somewhat exclusive (reserve!), but great food and drinks. And countless other lunch and dining options are just a short walk away. If you desire a Hawaiian feel but less of the Honolulu bustle then this is for you! Highly recommended and hope to return.

Overall, I really loved this hotel. The location is a bit quieter than Waikiki but it’s also all right there. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful! I reserved an ocean view and felt my particular room (316) left a lot to be desired, though. The third floor in general looks pretty run down, and there is a concrete area in the atrium that looks like it should be a fountain, but wasn’t on when I was there. The view was just okay from my room and the room itself is really really small. Otherwise, though, it was a good stay. I wouldn’t pay for ocean view again, though.

They didn't tell us that parking was an additional $40 per night. The total parking charges were $246 that we were not made aware of until we checked in. Some additional resort charges but this includes beach towels, umbrella surf board and stand up paddle boards. The hotel is right next to a beautiful beach. Totally worth it. Room was small but clean. The hotel staff is wonderful and very accommodating Location is awesome.

Great location right on the beach, and very reasonably priced for an ocean view room. The bed, which was listed as a queen was a bit small (full size), and the room itself was also on the small side, but it worked fine for my wife and I. The bikes, surfboards, beach towels, and beach chairs were welcome amenities that were included at no additional cost. The lobby is fantastic, and the restaurant appears to be very nice as well (we didn't eat there). The rooms been updated as well, but you can tell it was done on a budget, so don't expect anything too fancy. That being said, the staff were great, and the location was perfect for what we wanted. It's not as nice of a beach as Waikiki, but we did see sea turtles, a Mahi Mahi (crazy so close to shore!) and a seal that beached itself to rest every afternoon we were there, so that was an added bonus since we love the wildlife. It's also right next to surf school and convenience store, so that was nice. It's a bit of a walk to to everything else in Waikiki (1-2 miles in most cases), but you gain some added peace and quiet compared to the main hotels of Waikiki. Lastly, the views from the upper floors are amazing. The sunset is better here than further up the breach since it's facing more Southwest, than straight south like most of the other hotels. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

If you are planning to stay in the park wing rooms - don’t. This appears to be an older portion of the hotel and it doesn’t even feel like part of the hotel. There is no elevator so you are carrying your luggage up and down steps. There is valet parking available, but it is $40 plus tax every 24 hours. And if you don’t do the valet, they tell you “there’s metered parking across the street”. But trying to find a meter on Thursday - Sunday is nearly impossible. No microwave access anywhere so don’t keep leftovers. There is one in the convenience store that is attached to the hotel but you aren’t allowed to use it for anything not purchased there - even though we got coffee daily and purchased other items throughout the stay. Check your bank statement during your stay because while we used the valet the first day, we didn’t use it any other time and were continually charged. There is also a $25 per day plus tax resort fee that is supposed to include access to beach towels / chairs / paddle boards, but when you ask about paddle boards we were told to talk to the surf shop because we have to pay for lesson / use. Only plus side to the stay was beach front access. Kaimana beach was very beautiful. Very disappointed in the hotel though.

Although we only stayed for one night, Kaimana was great. Close to everything and easily walkable to the beach. We stayed in a 1 bedroom facing Diamond Head. The morning sunset was gorgeous coming up. The staff is excellent. Everyone was so kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Justin was especially helpful getting us settled. He went above and beyond to find my daughters lost toy we left behind after we checked out to head to stay on the north shore for a week. He even offered to bring it to us, but luckily we had family that lived near that could get it for us. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

This is a lovely hotel. It’s a little on the upscale side but not pretentious and the staff is very accommodating. For the price, the location can’t be beat. We opted to spend a little extra and get one of the panoramic ocean view suites and the extra cost was money well spent. Our room had a wrap around balcony overlooking the water and also had excellent views of downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. If you stay here 10/10 recommend leaving your balcony door open while you sleep - the sound of the waves at night made for a great nights rest. Definitely look forward to staying here again.

Great place to stay if you're looking for a location close enough to the main drag but far enough to miss the madness. The friendly staff and wonderful service from the front desk, valet, restaurant, and room service made this stay wonderful. Amenities were plenty which includes complimentary beach umbrellas, chairs and towels with friendly service to set you up right on the beach. Can't say enough good stuff about this place. Highly recommend.

Overall, this is a very cute, small, boutique hotel. The staff is very welcoming and helpful and the beach front bar/restaurant is convenient. We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Out of the 4, 2 days there was construction noise happening right outside our room. For the last 2 days we stayed there, the wifi was not working. The restaurant was always busy and it seemed that the hotel did not prioritize their guests coming to it. We went down for brunch one morning and asked to sit down on the beach level and were told that all the tables were reserved so, we sat on the upper level that overlooked the beach level. We sat for a little over an hour and there were at least 5-10 tables that were never used on the beach level. The first day on the beach we attempted to gather 2 chairs from the hotels activities desk and they had none available, we didn’t have the same issue other days however. Luckily the day we wanted to use bikes, they brought out an extra bike that was brand new, we used them all day long. The beach at this hotel is very nice and does not get as crowded as Waikiki beach. There were a few things to note that could be improved but overall we enjoyed the location of this hotel and the hotel as a whole. We would absolutely look to stay here again in the future.

Quiet location, fabulous panoramic ocean view, tastefully decorated lobby/outdoor dining area :). Unpleasantly surprised about the $60 daily charge for a roll-out bed for a 3-person room. Had to call for bedding linens for the third person. Had to request for dental kits (none readily available.) Had to walk up the counter to ask for a drink menu after having waited at the table for 20+ minutes. No area to clean off wet sands before entering the lobby (hotel is right on the sand) :(.

We stayed now the second time there and really enjoyed it. First 5 days we had a more simple room with Diamond head view. And then upgrated to a panoramic ocean view room/suite. It was so beautiful. Sure it also costs more😅 but worth it. The location is the best in Honolulu. You are away from noisy Waikiki downtown, but a short walk through a beautiful Park and you join the hustle. The private beach and restaurant are the cream topping of the place. Sure the building could need an Update and facelift as it is old but not bad. The staff made the stay! Everybody was friendly and there to help. Jonathan carried everything you couldn't, Quintin at the front desk had always a happy smile and especially Brent was helpful and showed that you can give an outstanding customer service. I want to thank you for making our Honolulu stay awesome 💫

Giving this hotel five stars based on our entire experience as well as the price!!! Our panoramic ocean view room was perfect!!! An old hotel updated nicely!! Hau tree is lovely especially lit up at night!! Food was amazing and the Mother’s Day brunch was perfect!! The lobby is fun and the staff was very attentive!! We borrowed the bikes and enjoyed riding around. We were able to park rental car and staff helped us with any questions!!! Highly recommend and hope to return someday. 🌺

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location, the quieter part of Waikiki Beach, the proximity to the beach, the convenience of finding parking on the street for our rental car, and the very pleasant walk to the stores and restaurants are all great features of this hotel. We also had very pleasant interactions with the staff at the reception desk, and with all the staff. We would stay again. I do need to add that our initial room assignment was a disappointment. The location in the Park annex, a three story set of rooms, was difficult to access, without an elevator, and up a narrow staircase. The carpet in the room was old, and shredded near the edges. The view was nice, but the access was difficult to navigate for my husband who was dealing with sciatica. But when we complained and asked for a change, the staff very kindly accommodated us, and gave us a wonderful room!! And so this is a vey positive review!

There are many things good about this hotel. The location out of the middle of Waikiki is great. The beach is great. BUT this is NOT a place for families. If you need the space, you're put in a separate wing of the hotel. Our room was infested with ants. They promised a coffee maker and didn't provide it. There wasn't even a blanket for the sofa bed. We really felt like second class citizens.

Great, waterfront property with a distinct mid-century feel. Though there is no pool, the calm ocean and private-feeling beach make up for it. Excellent swimming and snorkeling right out front. Also loved having the big park across the street.

Delicious good ( Breakfast lunch dinner ) Breakfast Pancakes Eggs Benedict Waffles Lunch & Dinner everything was delicious Japanese food was on point You got to stay here. I love this hotel and the beach is amazing. The beach is quiet and amazing. ( You will see sea lions and humongous sea turtles [ respect the Hawaiian culture stay away from the sea lions and sea turtles 🐢 ] it's a birthing area. You can take photos from a distance but don't horseplay with the sea life. AGAIN, RESPECT THE CULTURE. Caution ⚠️ don't play with the animals you will get a $15,000 fine. They are protected species. If you don't have the funds jail time. Hotel stay was amazing 👏 ( Trump style 👏 quotes ) Hotel has history. Enjoy 😉 yourself. I have traveled 23 different countries. Hawaii is my home for 12 years.

Feelings of an intimate boutique hotel with all the amenities you could want. Situated on a great beach and next to a beautiful park, you won't want to leave the property. Incredibly friendly staff: shout out to Kalei and Orlando at the front desk for providing such warm hospitality! Tip: Book an ocean front room and enjoy the gorgeous sunset from your room!

What a great hidden gem of a hotel! The locals know all about this hotel and it was my brother who recommended it to me. I wanted to allow my 95 yr. old father who I relocated to the mainland to experience the beach and sand before we left. He loved sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view of the ocean. His bathroom sink area and counters could have used a lot more room since he's disabled. The room also could have used more counter area closer to the bed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and were all very accommodating which was so nice and refreshing! Will plan on staying there every time I visit!

This is a great place if you are looking for a little more privacy, yet easy access to the beach, and surrounding kid friendly activities such as the zoo, the aquarium, and the park. It is easy to drive to and from the hotel with quick access for trips out of town and easy walking trips to all the Waikiki beach front shopping and restaurants. It has a killer sunset view from the hotel restaurant under gorgeous trees on the patio and an open balcony above where the bar and more tables are available. It is clean, safe and well kept up especially with an open style hotel. The staff is incredible from the valet to the housekeepers, to the receptionists to the restaurant staff. My only complaint would be the furniture was uncomfortable. I wouldn't say it was high quality furniture but it was clean and the bedding and towels were new and soft! We were contented with our stay. :)

Pros: Right by a great beach. Walking literally a block or two Very close to a lot of food. Room was nice Bathroom worked well Ocean view was a true ocean view Con: Walls are super thin. We could hear people in the hallways and definitely outside. There was a roaster who lives near the hotel and wakes you up at 5:30 am.

Corner rooms with balcony allow for a view to Diamond Head, park, beach and skyline of Waikiki for the win!!! We were blown away by these incredibly beautiful relaxing and lush views. Hotel staff very friendly and attentive. This was our second stay here at Kaimana. The first time was in 1981 for our honeymoon. Our stay was reminiscing and allowed for new memories. It appears rooms and lobby areas have been beautifully renovated and modernized recently. Hotel sits right on the beach. The restaurant has both a bar area and patio dining off the beach with beautiful views of sunset at dinner hour. Definitely recommend.

We wanted a place close to Waikiki but not in Waikiki. Kaimana Beach Hotel has that close location but is so much quieter! You also can't beat that true beachfront location (like having your own private beach), and sunsets right in front of the hotel. Restaurant was amazing, staff super friendly and helpful, and rooms very clean. Bring your own snorkelling gear though, none for hire from the hotel. Plus, it's a little on the pricier side.l, but you pay for what you get :)

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon in June 2023 for 5 nights. We were looking for a true Hawaiian experience without the hustle and bustle of Waikiki right outside our door. Can’t say enough about the staff, so kind and accommodating, it was sad to say goodbye to them at the end of our trip. Anything we asked for (towels for the room, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas) was provided so quickly. The beach is incredible and very calm. It’s a short walk to all the bars and restaurants of Waikiki. We were also very impressed by the restaurant at the hotel, Hau Tree. We had brunch and dinner there during our trip and enjoyed both meals immensely. The coffee shop on site, Sunset Provisions, had incredible coffee and pastries. We had a city view room which offered a partial view of Diamond Head and a slight view of the ocean as well from our balcony. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Some may consider the city view room to be a bit on the smaller side, but we had more than enough room for all of our stuff and it was everything we needed it to be. We really can’t say enough good things about the Kaimana Beach Hotel and will recommend it to anyone we know staying on Oahu.

  • 5/5 Solomon K. 1 year ago on Google
Overall a great stay. The location is perfect, quietly tucked away in diamond head area but also a quick 10 min car ride or 15-20 min walk to Waikiki and all it has to offer. The staff were super nice. Free parking nearby. We stayed almost a week and there were small events going on almost every night in nearby parks. Amazing vibes. I know some of the other reviews are more nit picky, but we had a great stay for our plans.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Kaimana Beach hotel. We started off in a very small room (I forgot to check the sq footage) but paid for a larger room on 8 with a fantastic view (absolutely worth it). The Hau Tree is a tad expensive but the food and view is exceptional, Sunset Provisions is great for a more reasonable pour over coffee and thick slice of banana bread for breakfast. Super quiet location and 15 min walk into Waikiki along the beach.

I'm glad to have found this resort. The staff was kind and welcoming and I loved the private beach entrance. Because Kaimana Beach Hotel is not right in the heart of Waikiki, it is quieter and the beach is less crowded. This did mean that there were less food options in the immediate area, but it was just a short walk to more restaurants and resorts. The rooms are small, but this was not a problem, as we did not plan to spend much time in the room. It was wonderful having a balcony that looked out to both the beach and Diamond Head. The little (non-sleeping) time we spent in the hotel, was mainly spent on the beautiful balcony. My only complaint really is that there is nowhere to just sit and look out onto the beach (without actually going out onto the beach). I would have loved a place to sit and drink coffee or read a book, without having to make restaurant reservations. The bar was also pretty packed usually, which was a bit of a deterrent to me personally. Unfortunately the bar also had a pretty restricted view of the beach. Overall though, it was a good experience -- clean, great staff, and a quiet beach! :)

We stay here when we come to Honolulu for business, and it’s my absolute favorite hotel. It has a lovely beach, but it’s farther from the tourist hubbub. You can still walk to many fun spots, but you may be walking for 20 minutes or so, which I don’t mind at all. Their accessible room was spacious enough for my family member to navigate in their powered wheelchair, but the door to the room is incredibly heavy so it’s a little difficult to hold it open while they enter or exit. The staff is friendly, the lobby is stunning, and the location is perfect for our needs.

This is by far the nicest hotel in the strip of endless brand hotels which could be in Hawaii or California. This hotel is adjacent to a beautiful park. And the best part of the hotel is Chad who created great mana. He embodies the Aloha spirit. He always welcomed us back as if we were his long lost friends. This type of warmth and positivity brightened my day and makes a huge difference between a good and great stay. Thanks Chad.

Different rooms are very different experiences at this hotel. The ones with a view are definitely exciting but overall the whole place needs a refresh. There are some very strange architectural details that make it seem like it was modified at some point and some of the lingering motel quality brings the whole experience down a notch. The public places are very nice and the beach location is ace. Amenities for the beach are super.

  • 5/5 Ava S. 7 months ago on Google
The beach and location of the hotel is quieter than the main Waikiki area which was nice. About a 15 minute walk to where all the restaurants and stores are so still accessible. The convenience store is nice if you need something real quick or a snack while at the hotel since all other restaurants and stores are a walk. Hau tree is pricey but worth it would recommend reserving ahead of time as they fill up. The coffee shop is great. The beach amenities (chairs/umbrellas/towels) very nice. The classes they have are on certain days you have to look on their website, not everyday. If you do the SUP “class” it’s basically like a free SUP rental for the morning.

We chose Kaimana Beach Hotel for our wedding block and the only word I can describe this place is "amazing." What makes this hotel magical is the simplicity of it. It is a smaller hotel right on the beach a small walk from the heart of Waikiki. The views were magnificent, the restaurant on premises was delicious, the rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, and the staff. My God the staff truly makes this place shine. From the valet staff who had great recommendations on places to eat and which direction to come back from to avoid traffic, to the front desk staff who took care of us throughout our entire stay and ensured we were happy, to the housekeepers to made sure our rooms were clean and spotless, to the bellhops who assisted us and our guests with their heavy luggage, the waiters/waitresses at Hau Tree, to everyone who made our home away from home extra special and in turn our wedding extra special, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights this week and I really enjoyed our stay! We tend to be low key hotel guests, easygoing and not very needy so I felt the vibe of this hotel really went along with that. I could see if you’re a high demand type of hotel guest that you may not enjoy this hotel as they are very “island time” about things. For example, one day I went to borrow a beach chair for my husband and I- there was only one available so he went back to the room to nap while I went to the beach for sun; for some people, that would’ve been an earth shattering inconvenience- but for us it was whatever. It seemed like the hotel had lots of little things like that so if you are staying awhile, that could add up to an unhappy guest- but we didn’t mind. We did their sunrise yoga class and really loved the instructor Kayla. I also really liked that we got two complimentary drinks so we got tasty mac nut lattes at their coffee shop. The hotel toiletries that they provide in the room were also good quality and smelled great. The bed in our room was also comfortable! The front desk staff were slow at times but I thought it was cute and very stereotypically full time Hawaii resident of them. Whenever we really needed help with things, they always worked it out- which is what matters in the end. We decided to rent a car and drive to the north shore, last minute one day, the front desk staff- checked out two chairs for us to take for the whole day and gave us so many towels to use. They also advised us to use the city street parking when we got home because after 6 pm it is free since we decided to rent the car last minute and didn’t budget for the cost of parking at the hotel. These are the things I appreciate from this hotel and I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Waikiki.

A great two star hotel that should have been a four star hotel. The hotel just needs a little better management of what was great staff, a little investment in bathrooms and the atrium and most importantly attention to beach amenities. It is a beach hotel, only no real beach chairs. The ones give out were guest left-overs.

  • 5/5 Rachel K. 1 year ago on Google
Great stay at this hotel! We arrived on a late (delayed) flight, and the front desk staff efficiently helped us arrange a room change request. Staying east/south of the main strip of Waikiki and being able to walk out directly onto the beach, or run/walk around the park, was ideal. Very efficient, friendly, and helpful staff, and quiet, clean rooms. It made us feel safer that the main lobby and eating areas/bar were open-air.

The hotel management has been changed and hotel name also changed. The hotel wants to be a luxury hotel but service is lower than 3 stars. Basic customer service is not educated. The staff was busy in the morning of course, customers are waiting. But not care to tell them "I will be with you shortly" you know these word make big different to make better customer service. I asked to the staff, are you taking order? She replying me that I am busy working here now. Also she told me if someone rude to me I am not nice to them. Really, are you are really working in Hawaii's tourism industry? Manager told me that because we are just started a new hotel. Hello, these customer service is the bottom of basic. Fighting with a customer? In Hawaii we have Aloha Spirit. I am a travel agent I don't want to book my clients vacation at this hotel ever!! Their restaurant prices are over charged too. There are so many great hotels in Waikiki so why do we need to stay at the hotel gives you bad customer services!!!

This beachfront property is amazing. I like the fact that the hotel is small and it's not crowded inside. The staff were all friendly and very attentive to our needs. The Hau Tree hotel restaurant is a bit expensive but definitely a "must try" while staying there. I will definitely stay there again.

So amazing. It was better beach access and less hassle then being directly downtown. Also I was only a 10min walk to the edge of the downtown area.

Giving this a 5 star rating based on our entire experience. The hotel is very clean! It’s an older hotel that’s been very nicely updated! Especially in the beautiful lobby and bar/Restaurant. The food here is beyond amazing! The rooms are nice and clean. But more than anything, The entire staff made this an incredible experience. You truly feel like they become friends. Pony up and get a room with a beach view or better yet an ocean front. We had a beach view which was nice but wished we had a beachfront once we saw them. Location is amazing too! Away from the crazy Waikiki but yet close to everything! Thank you!

Stayed here for 3 days 2 nights. Very clean hotel. Gorgeous curb appeal. Right on the beach. Bar and restaurant in hotel. Beautiful sunsets on the beach. Very romantic❤ No swimming pool. The beach is ENOUGH. Room was small but it worked. Close to all attractions. Be prepared to pay $40 for valet parking PER NIGHT😬 There are parking meters across the street, which I highly recommend. Have quarters😀

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel on the quieter side of the downtown Honolulu/ Waikiki area. The view from our balcony was stunning and the beach was great for swimming. As an added bonus, some of our favorite meals were enjoyed at the Hau Tree.

Great hotel on Kaimana Beach. It is a short walk to Waikiki (10-15min) where most of the restaurants are. We had a car with us and parking is valet only - $40/night. We had an ocean view room with floor to ceiling windows which I highly recommend. They have an attendant on the beach and provide towels, chairs, and umbrellas.

Amazing location and amenities at a super reasonable price! We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. We especially loved the hotel provided beach chairs and towels as we spent many hours posted up enjoying the beach and water with our friends and family. The proximity to Waikiki without being stuck in the tourist traps was fantastic. Will definitely be looking to book another trip soon!

Great hospitality especially from the bald bell hopper. The way he kept a smile on his face, I don't think he knows what a bad day is. The ocean view from the room is awesome. The only missing thing in the room is a microwave. The room/cleaning attendants were also very nice. We also enjoyed the complimentary bikes. That was very helpful getting around and exploring.
