Location is great, short walk to the beach. A lot of restaurants and shopping nearby, within walking distance. The staff is very welcoming and nice. The rooms are EXTREMELY outdated but clean. For the price, it’s a great deal. The pools are disappointing, we didn’t even bother spending time there. They are extremely small and located between two buildings. Might be the saddest pools in Waikiki. Overall, if you are looking for a budget option, it’s an decent choice. But if you are looking for resort type of property, with nice pool and view, this isn’t the one.

The Good: Location is good and parking prices was good with in and out privileges. Hotel staff was accommodating and friendly. The Bad: Other than the lobby, rooms and hallways were outdated and a little run down. Rust in bathroom and shower head was low. Parking garage is one of the most tightest squeeze in existence. Everyone comes in and you hear is the undercarriage scrapping against the parking deck or walls not recommended if you are not a well seasoned driver. The hotel seem to attract a more party crowd as it has cheaper prices than most others. One night we had to call security at 2am for music playing loud. Limited plugs and lighting. The Bottom Line: If you like a place to go just lay your head... go for it. However, its a little worn down and the hotel can use some fresh paint and renovations. Or better cleaning.

Great location! The hotel is situated near the heart of Waikiki, so everywhere is walking distance for the most part and the bus stop is just across the road. The service here is also good, with the receptionists being nice and informative. The rooms for the most part are good, however the fan is so loud I wasn’t sure if I was in bed or standing on the runway next to a plane taking off; the bathtub was also kind of dirty and would not have used it.

The staff make the difference here, they were great! We picked the Malia for reasonable prices and weren't looking for frills. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was central for walking but the street can be noisy if you're a light sleeper. We were happy with our stay and thrilled with the staff!

Location, location, location! (And, relatively inexpensive.) Centrally located near Waikiki Beach. With the public bus running right in front of the hotel, a short walk to the beach, beachfront parks, shops, and restaurants, this is a great spot for those who like to walk and use public transportation. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Our room, the lobby, the courtyard/pool area, and other public spaces were neat and clean. The pool was very small. Although we specifically booked a hotel with a pool, we found we didn't use it because we were so close to safe ocean swimming beaches, with lifeguards. We did enjoy the jacuzzi after some extra long days of walking. Our room was cool and clean, but there was definitely road noise from 11 floors below us. We used ear plugs and slept through it. We used the bus almost daily, including a trip to the fabulous Bishop Museum. We would definitely return to this hotel.

The Malia is an awesome hotel! It is clean, super convenient, priced right and the staff is great too! Brenda was excellent with us checking in, our room is super clean and everyone is so friendly! It's a short walk to everything in Waikiki including the beach 😃 Also, close to many rental cars for when you want to explore other parts of the Island or there is the bus and many taxis etc too. I definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back again too. Don't worry about any negative reviews as their probably from "Karen", this hotel and Island is absolutely perfect 👌😎🤙

Wasn't quite like the pictures, but was clean. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I would warn about the parking garage. It is steep and VERY narrow! We ended up scratching the side of our rental car because it was too narrow. If you have a small car, this could be a good option. It was close to the beach and walkable things in Waikiki.

Not perfect, but the staff was accommodating. Good location. The parking lot is tight, and there are service fees you need to add to your budget that took us by surprise. Decent gym open 24/7. Overall, the experience was great.

Affordable, very nice staff, convenient and inclusive parking, laundry facility, small gym ( very convenient) Spa, small pool, convenient location. Room service is provided daily, including weekends. This hotel does not come without a few negative aspects. Parking is very narrow to navigate; therefore, compact vehicles can best maneuver in the parking lot. The rooms are comfortable, but have very few outlets and lights and no microwave. There is only one microwave for all 18 floors of hotel and it is located on the 9th floor.

I booked my trip through beachbound. I was very impressed with the service I received. I brought back a lot of sand in our bathing suits and accidentally made a beach in our room. I called room service and they were very quick to come up and vacuum for us and with a smile. The front desk was quick to answer any questions we had and very polite. The room was spacious but simple which was perfect for my taste. The staff made me feel like we were not guests but visiting family that they care about. This made my trip easy, at home, and very welcomed. I’ve never felt this well treated even by a higher end hotel. I was very skeptical at first due to reviews I read but for my experience they were very very wrong. Thank you for everything.

I would highly recommend paying a little more to stay elsewhere if possible. The location was good, but i am very confident with the number of resorts in Waikiki you will find better value. Overall I was very disappointed and underwhelmed. The shower was discolored, facilities seemed old, bed wasn’t very comfortable, and housekeeping was bad. I would come back to the room around 4-5pm to get ready for dinner and the room still was not cleaned. The hotel makes you sign a contract to borrow towels, which I find incredibly cheap. Only 2 towels in the room and they would charge $20 if the extra ones are not returned to the pool area. The pool was small and only 4ft deep. We waited 40 minutes to check in, and the lobby is tiny. The service was very poor. The garage was absolutely horrible! To make the turns you need to back up and align the car well. Bad overall experience, I give the hote 2 stars solely based on the location and convenience in Waikiki. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time in the room, but the fact they survive the competition in Waikiki is beyond me.

Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is a little old and outdated but fits the needs if you need a clean and cheap place to stay, on a budget. Within walking distance to everything including beach. Water pressure is great and the beds are super comfy. The only disclaimer I have is its a bit noisy at night if you are facing the street.

Such amazing hospitality and one of those few times where it looks better than the photos online! They made sure we had an awesome experience for our honeymoon and the partial ocean view is beautiful! The bed and pillows were also perfect! I travel frequently around the states and stay in all kinds of hotels and this was the most comfortable bed I’ve been in. Would definitely stay again on my next trip!

I cannot express how nice, helpful, and just overall amazing the staff is here. The rooms are typical in size for a "cheap" hotel, but it was clean and comfortable with a decent view (see photo). We got a good deal on the price but before my wife told me that, I thought we were paying a lot more because I couldn't believe how courteous and prompt and above-and-beyond the entire staff was. It blew me away how much they tried to make our stay comfortable (we had our two small children with us and we had some extra needs, but the staff jumped to make suggestions to help us out). I can't say enough good things about this place. I wish it was a little closer to the beach, but the staff and the price made up for any negatives.

I would give 0 stars if possible. My friends and I booked a hotel with this establishment and a Supervisor by the name of Manny told us he wasn't going to give us our room because of the number of guests and in order to stay at their hotel we needed to book 3 rooms. We had paid thousands already on our reservation so we felt that was unfair and Manny directed us to cancel and book at a different hotel. He refused to help us and made us pay an additional $150 to cancel it, and one we did and left the hotel we thought everything was fine. Not even 30 minutes after leaving the hotel we discovered that Manny checked us into a room without or knowledge and than refused to give us a room number or keys for the room we booked. He was aware of the scam he was doing and he was trying to take advantage of young women, one of them being 4 months pregnant, take your money to a business that will respect you.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights before cruising around Hawaii and 2 more nights after the cruise. The hotel is perfectly located in Waikiki, close to bars, restaurants and shops. Only a 10 minute walk from the beautiful Waikiki Beach. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are more than adequate to use as a base whilst in Hawaii, because let's face it you don't go to Hawaii to spend all day in your hotel. If you're looking for 5* accommodation then maybe you should look elsewhere. I will definitely be going back to Hawaii at some point in the future and I will be more than happy to stat at the Malia again whilst there.

1 day during our stay a forklift was in the middle of the lobby. The hotel is under construction. Drilling all day long. The room is old smelled like mildew. They offered us 1 complimentary breakfast for the trouble but we stayed 6 days! We were never told before booking. Possible mold in bathroom. No screen on sliding door to help us ventilate the room. Toilet bowl had dark stains. No fan in bathroom either.

My partner and I loved our stay here at Waikiki Malia! The room was exactly as expected and all of the staff members were kind. I love that every Friday, they do a complimentary activity which we happened to experience the lei making one. Also gave us a free scoop of delicious gelato. Highly highly recommend this spot for its convenience and affordable price.

This was an enjoyable experience with a beautiful view of the mountains. My first time in Hawaii; but it will not be my last. My whole experience was fantastic. The only thing I missed was a Polynesian restaurant. I guess that will be added to the next to-do list.

The hotel’s cleanliness and overall quality were satisfactory, and the staff, including the excellent housekeeping team, contributed to a pleasant stay. The hotel’s prime location in Waikiki and the reasonable pricing for four guests are definite highlights. For breakfast, you have the convenience of an IHOP located right next to the lobby, and there’s an ABC store just across the street for your daily needs. However, it’s worth noting that there is room for improvement when it comes to soundproofing. The noise from both neighboring rooms and constant road traffic can be heard throughout the day and night. Furthermore, the pool, although clean, turned out to be smaller than expected, better suited for a quick dip to cool off rather than for swimming. Taking these factors into account, I would rate the hotel as 3+ stars, with the main concern being the noise issues in the rooms.

I cannot say enough about the Waikiki Malia! We hopped islands for an appt & made a girls trip out of it! The front desk staff was more than happy to hold our bags for us while we roamed around town until check in. Then, when we realized that all 3 of us forgot toothpaste, they kindly gave each one of us a travel bottle. The room & the decor are extremely tasteful & clean. The hallways were quiet at night, and although you’re right in the middle of town, there was no street noise. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to stay close to Waikiki. They have an adorable pool area, as well. Although it is small, it includes a hot tub and a lounge area, too. Perfect for a little soak after a day of walking, shopping and site seeing. The price point was my deciding factor when booking, but after the great stay we had, our list of reasons to stay is much longer now!

Read the entire review- not just the first line. The location is good, close to everything in Waikiki. However, the pool is absolutely tiny, wedged in between high walls so there is no sunlight and not really anywhere to relax. The room is clean, but as I write this my wife and I are being absolutely deafened by the air conditioning unit. In 40 years of staying in hotels we’ve never had an air con unit come anywhere close to the racket this makes. We have the TV sound on 25 and still can’t hear it. So the choice is going to be boil, but listen to the TV and be able to sleep in peace tonight, or be cool and be kept awake all night , with a visit needed to the hearing clinic in the morning. So, if you want to relax when in your room, and be comfortably cool don’t stay here. Oh and as for the shower I can pee faster, and that’s despite my having prostate issues!! UPDATE- it’s now the morning after. Ritually no sleep all night. We roasted for 4 hours and in the end had to put the air con on. Then kept awake by the noise. We suspect those in the adjacent rooms had the same issue as we could hear their air con units as well. Do not stay here if you want to sleep!

The staff were nice and the room was acceptable. Super nice location. BEWARE THE PARKING LOT! The ramps are super steep and tight. We were very careful after reading the other reviews and drove a small rental car, still scraped it on the ramps.

Where do I start , 1st off the room smelled like mildew. The towels was dirty. Then the front desk moved me rooms. The second room smelled better but the shower was dirty. There was a big water bottle that was half way drunk in the room next to the bed. The “kitchen “ more like microwave website gave me different impression that there would be a kitchen. The dishes in cabinet was dirty and not dust dirty it had food on it so gross and there was no dish soap to wash them. The front desk was not welcoming and I felt they didn’t want to help anyone but their Asian customers. Maybe because the people who was on staff at the time couldn’t really understand English or they were playing with me I’m hoping they just didn’t understand me. I had a studio room with kitchen. I been to almost every hotel on Oahu but this room was not worth the price. I will never ever come back here these rooms aren’t clean. I wish I could have got my money back and went somewhere else. I’m going to see if I can report this hotel for the unsanitary rooms which is so disgusting. Please be aware of the uncleanliness of this hotel. Not worth price at all it needs to be shut down.

We booked a last minute stay for Memorial Day weekend. We were allowed to check in early, and drop our bags which was very generous of the staff. We stayed in a newly renovated room, which was beautiful. We loved the beautiful colors of the new design. There were USB ports and plugs everywhere, nice touch. The pool was small but had a nice hot tub. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of everything. The parking garage is a tight fit but we made it work just fine. The AC in the room was very cold, which I loved. The bathroom was clean and fresh, but a little tight , I wished that the door swung out instead of in, because it almost hits the toilet. They could use a bathroom fan desperately, I would suggest adding a small fan to each closet that can be used to help clear out the moisture in the bathrooms. I also suggest an extra spare blanket in the closet. There is a sports bar, IHOP and pizza place all within the building. This was a very nice hotel for its price point, and I would stay again.

If you’re looking for a hotel that is reliable, close to everything in Waikiki, and amazing staff. This is your hotel! Of course, if you plan to be on the go and not be there lounging in a hotel/ pool. The staff let us check in our bags in our room before our check in. That was amazing of them. It was perfect for us. We wanted to explore and not be stuck in an expensive resort. It’s not fancy at all, but it does the job. It did have a distinct order but that’s with any hotel. Housekeeping, always kept us with clean towels and that’s a huge treat. The only little down fall is the parking it’s so tight but we really didn’t have issues as others. The first night I did struggled to get the car up the ramp but once, mastered piece of cake. Do not hesitate if you plan to be on the go and stay at Waikiki at a reasonable price. Stay here!!

Overall, it's okay. The rooms were clean and efficient. It's conveniently located in the heart of Waikiki, just minutes from the beach and restaurants. We only stayed one night, but had a few issues. I messaged them a week before we came, to clarify the parking situation. We were told it was valet with in-out privileges. Turns out it's self-parking in a tiny garage. Our rental car was small, so it was OK. We were very careful to adhere to the signs in the garage (the only ramp going in/out is open to oncoming traffic from people entering and exiting the garage). While trying to check out, the front desk was very busy and a crowd formed in the lobby. We paid for parking there and tried to leave. On our way out of the parking garage, staff stopped us to ask if we paid for parking. They wouldn't listen when we said we had paid already, and we couldn't leave until we did. Other cars were getting backed up behind us, so we paid for parking twice just to get it over with. Eventually got one of the charges taken off, but it was quite an annoying process. It's pretty noisy in the rooms, we were sirens going off all night and people partying in the street. If you don't have a car, and plan on enjoying the night life, this would be a great place.

Location, staff, parking everything was to what we had imagined.the manager was nice. Housekeeping staff was prompt to bring us items of our need. My mother in law 81+ she said her stay was as she was in her room. The kids enjoyed the convenience of going around from this location. We could cook, they would come clean. The trip was affordable. Appreciate Amante and his whole crew.🙏🙏

The room is good and the hotel is located at the central location. In general the experience was good but it would be great if the reception staff can be helpful. I asked for a spoon and bowl since I needed it to eat my special diet. However the person at the staff totally blew me off arrogantly! I have stayed all over the world and asked in hotels simple things like these and never have such a bad experience.

Very good location close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Liked the hot tub and pool. Never had trouble with parking during my 6 night stay. My room was well cleaned every day. My only complaint is I could really hear the neighbors and when toilets flushed.

Nice hotel. Has a bar downstairs which is very nice. The parking garage tho is EXTREMELY STEEP AND NARROW. CASH ONLY. And if you while you stay there, you still have to pay for parking of $10/day. I drive a tiny Honda Fit and i still barely had any room

Best location for the price, room was super clean and the staff were super helpful and welcoming. I will definitely stay here again. A lot of people will complain about the pool, but at least this hotel did its best to provide the guests with one and it’s clean and cozy. Loved it here and will come again for sure. Thank you

Staffs are great. Location is good. The two things I didn't like are the parking and the bathroom. Parking lot entrance and exit are so narrow I had hard time going in and out. In addition the parking lot gets full so quick we had to park at a remote parking structure several times. The bathroom shower curtain smelled bad.

The customer service at Waikiki Malia by Outrigger is beyond exceptional. My wife and I had booked 5 nights for our 10-year anniversary. There was a mix up with our hotel shuttle for our departing flight into Honolulu, and though we were there nearly an hour before our flight, the airline had stopped accepting checked baggage, so we were forced to miss our flight. I called the hotel directly and the front desk rep, Robert, was very polite, professional and reassuring. We had to end up calling back when a manager was on shift to approve any refunds. They went ahead and approved a full refund, despite the late notice. We definitely will give them our business in the future as they have the Aloha spirit. Thank you so much.
