I booked this place from Booking.com and the pictures of the room were nothing like the pictures on the website. The room I got was in really bad shape. Everything was old, the carpet was dirty, and hallways were in bad shape too. As soon as I seen my room I went back down to the lobby and told them that I was expecting a room that looks like the pictures in the website. They said they could move me the next day to a more modern room. I took their offer. The room I moved to was remodeled more recently and was in better shape. I had a better view too. I think they should be more honest with their potential customers so that you know what you are getting for your money before you get there. The staff was friendly.

Dingy and outdated but great "rooftop" pool. It was about halfway up the hotel. When I was swimming in the pool on the first day of my vacation, it rained for about 10 minutes and instead of getting out and running inside - I enjoyed the lovely experience. It was such a warm short shower and gave me a laugh. As far as the rooms, the bathrooms could use a redo. Water pressure was lacking. If you look past the negatives, it's not a bad place to lay your head in between exploring the island. When we went to fly home, our flight got delayed another day and the hotel squeezed all 7 of us into a room for no extra charge for the night. I ended up forgetting my makeup bag in the room and it had an expensive necklace in it. When I got home, I called them to send it back. I paid the postage and they shipped it out.

The Aston Waikiki Banyan is a condominium-style accommodation that offers a full kitchen and spacious rooms at an affordable rate. It claims to be a favorite among locals, but not this one (me), nor my family members, of which there are plenty. But, I figured that I'd give them another shot. I mean, things should change over a decade or so, right? Well, things have not changed much. The pictures are beautiful on the website, but the suites are less than desirable in-person. There are unknown stains on the carpet and watermarks on the ceiling. Carpet stains are overlooked and covered by furniture. The decor is durable, yet very old-timey "Hawaiian" themed. The property provides both guests (short-term) and long-term residential rentals. There are less than pleasant residences that are annoyed by short-term guests. Aston services are a bit confusing when it comes to on-site laundry, maintenance, and security. I am sure there is a reason for confusion and inconsistency between the website, welcome letter, and signs posted on the walls. The location is great, just a couple of blocks from Waikiki, if you like to frolic with other tourists and just want to say, "I have swam at Waikiki Beach." The bed is firm and fits my style of comfort. The bathrooms are very tiny and I feel sorry for those that are taller than 5'11". You would barely fit in the garage, let alone the shower. Recommendations for upgrading rooms and services should be taken for consideration, but since the property is run by a board that is probably made up of long-standing members with no intent of improvements to the property...any recommendation provided will be pushed to the wayside. So, here are recommendations for potential/future guests. Do not stay here, unless you are using this place for location and a place to lay your head. Do not have high expectations for modern decor and services, to include central air. Rent a vehicle that is less than 6 ft tall if you are using the garage. Be prepared for irate residents.

I liked this place when I first came to Hawaii some years ago, that was why I recommend we stay here for my Birthday this year. It has good prices, a full kitchen and enough space for the family but the quality sucks. Only 2 out of 4 of our room keys actually work. The ceiling and carpet have stains in them. . The mattresses on the bed are very hard. Closet space is very limited. Last night there was a Cockroach in our room!! Which made me very paranoid, I could barely sleep. The store downstairs is very overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend buying anything. The security staff are friendly but the others were not. I won’t be back.

This is a trying time with COVID and every, so I gave this place the benefit of the doubt. As long as you are willing to communicate with the staff, they are willing to accommodate, I think this is one of their strengths. For those coming here for the first time, make sure you try to go to the front lobby loading zone area first before heading into the parking, so that you can pay for parking. We payed for a whole week which was $125(pricing for parking), but the only other price I remembered was for a day which was $25(for parking). They have other prices, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. Having it be possible to pay prior would be nice or at least have the prices up on the website would also be nice. When we arrived at the parking, they sent us to the parking lot loading zone and that was our bad. I feel like a sign pointing new arrivals to the main lobby loading zone would be better than the enter at your own risk sign. In addition, I didn't realize this at the time, but there are many names for this hotel which I found strange, Koko Resorts at the Waikiki Banyan and Hawaiian Sun Holidays were a few that I found. The beach is around 1.5-2 blocks away and is also around 2 blocks away from the Honolulu Zoo. At the time I came, the house keeping service would clean the room every 3 days of my visit due to COVID of course. After the first housekeeping cleanup of our room, I would say that everything was cleaner than when we first arrived. Also we did have an extra sofa bed, so check if your room has that, if you've got 5 people. I agree with many people when they mentioned how their halls and rooms seem worn, but everything was at the very least serviceable. Their parking is fairly small in terms of clearance. In which case I would definitely love to see at least some more maintenance via repainting the halls and checking that every room is cleaned before new clients come in(not sure if they do this). They have a great recreation floor on floor 6 and I believe every floor has a laundry room and trash disposal room, located at the end of the right hallway when exiting the elevator. So that was helpful. Though their laundry machines and grills on the recreation room were coin operated, I found them to be serviceable. For the cost, there are a lot of things that this hotel provides, which I appreciate. Though the rooms may not look like the photos that are posted, they are great for the price. The reason why their pictures look great is because it is their cleanest rooms and they were definitely touched up in terms of brightness and saturation. I will mention that they have 2 towers with around 30 floors in each(not too sure about the floor part). Again I hope to see this hotel perhaps with a slight makeover in terms of repainted walls and making sure everything is clean, but I found my stay to be great. Great staff, would come again. Finally, their website. When we first booked a room, their website looked a lot more outdated. Their new one is alright, but one of the things I did not like about it was that in order to check your reservation you needed to try to book a room to find the "Find Reservations" button at the top right. In addition, the name of the hotel is extremely close to the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, so make sure you look up the entire name "Aston at the Waikiki Banyan". Great for looking at what you want to get, not great for looking what you already booked is what I'll say about that. Overall for those looking for a good place to stay with your family this is a great place. Make sure to communicate with the staff and ask for reclarification if you miss anything.

This place was an absolute dump! It almost ruined our vacation. They make it look good in the pictures and then we got there it it was horrible. The carpet was all stained. The beds were hard. It was like staying in a Motel 6 that hadn't been remodeled since the 80's that we payed $279 a night for. I shouldn't have paid more than $100 per night for that dump. What they don't tell you is that it's actually a condo complex where some of the owners rent out their places. I am so angry that I wasted all that money on that place. Then on top of that, I got kicked out of the parking garage because my rental car was an SUV that was to tall. They didn't care that I had to walk over half a mile away to park at a public park parking lot. I hated this place and wish I can get my money back. Don't ever stay here!!!

Hands down this property is the best place to stay in Waikiki Beach! Every room is basically a one bedroom apartment with a balcony and some great views. The kitchen is fully loaded with a full fridge and oven. Literally one block from the heart of Waikiki Beach. Tons of restaurants within walking distance. Great pricing and the staff was awesome. Jennifer the GM knows how to take care of business travelers and Jonathan at the front desk went out of his way to help with local suggestions and amenities I will definitely be back. Such a great place for the price!!

Great location, good room and serviced every second day. Laundry and rubbish facilities at the end of the floor hallway, great mini mart onsite and small cafe. Block away from beach. Plenty of food options close by. Used the pool area. Free beach towels from reception. Bus services close by. Enjoyed our stay thank you.

Went for 11 days. The location is easy walking distance to the beach and too restaurants and shops. Close to bus stops, the service was fast. Food can be ordered to the room but we never did. Overall good “homely” space, for the price you cannot complain.

Staff is great. Very friendly and accessible. Room was a little dated but more than adequate for my needs and relatively quiet. Location is pretty good. Within 2 blocks walking distance of Waikiki beach and near all the shops but also far enough that it’s less busy then the Honolulu side of the Waikiki.

My favorite place for a staycation. On top of parking garage there is a pool, hot tub, large grill area, Tennis court. The location is very close to Waikiki beach. They have rooms with 2 full beds and a kitchen. Beautiful views!

Stayed for 2 weeks in Tower 1 on the 33rd floor with beautiful view of Diamond Head and partial ocean view. Room was excellent. Staff was accomadating, 4 elevators, staff in the convience store were not very pleasant and a little pricey. Enjoyed the stay, the walking distance to everything all around was great for first time.

Good room, comfortable. We had a unit through airbnb, very easy check-in/out was easy. Older corner unit with some minor renovations. Partial ocean view and view of Diamondhead. Room a/c could only be operated for 6 hours at a time without risk of freezing the a/c unit. Not very convenient for sleeping comfortably though because we set the time for 6 hours to be sure it didn't freeze which meant the unit went off in the early mornings before 4am, causing us to wake up because it was so warm. Not sure if that would be true for all condos in this property. Good amenities, nothing fancy but the basics. Would have been great for a longer stay but we were only there for three nights. We didn't really have any interaction with staff except for security in parking garage. They were helpful and friendly. Location is convenient and easy walking to most Waikiki attractions.

Good: reasonably priced suite with swimming pool access. Koi pond in the lobby is nice. Banyan Breeze downstairs is a solid cup of coffee and a nice little bite to start the day. In 2022, as in Soviet times, room service is strictly rationed. If a kid wets the bed and you aren't due for room service for a few days well at least there is a laundry room down the hall, comrade!

Great location, parking included, beautiful condo, and ample amenities for guests to use. Enjoyed the stay and weather (July). No real beach/ocean view, but that's expected from properties that are one block or more away from the beach. Easy access to zoo, Diamond Head, and the east access to Waikiki (north-west roads to Waikiki tended to be very busy).

Great value for a full suite that includes everything you need like a full kitchen, tables, a couch, etc. Wish they had room service, but the cafe and mini mart on the first level were good stand ins. I would rank wifi a 7/8 out of 10. I'm a photographer and I was able to do my work and upload photos just fine. Page loading was sometimes a bit slow and it timed out 1 or 2 times but overall the signal was strong. While definitely stay here again.

Over all very happy with our room. It can use a fresh coat of paint and the picture frames have years of dust built up on them. My only real complaint is the shower water does not get hot enough. Plenty of hot in the sink though. The hardware for the tub needs updated looks like a 1980's set up.

Mahalo to the very friendly & welcoming staff at the front desk! The service was great with making sure we had lots of towels & good service. The rooms were ok but in need of upgrading as they were very outdated & absolutely nothing as advertised in pics online! We rented 2 rooms in different towers & both need to be upgraded!!

I stayed at a unit managed by Midway Realty on the 33rd floor. The building needs to be updated in the hallways and lobby but the unit is in perfect shape. Everything you could possibly need for a great stay. Great location, great view from the terrace, great communication with the management company and for the money you can’t beat the price. The unit is professionally cleaned. The unit comes with free parking. They did everything right with this property. They don’t provided a whole lot of towels and washcloths unless you pay an additional price but everything else you could need is there. I highly recommend this property.

There is an in-room speaker system for emergencies. They have conducted emergency testing between 8-9AM for the last three days. Today, they just blasted an alarm with instructions to evacuate with no warning, then just came back and said "All clear" The building is nice, but the maintenance and security are freaking poor.

The view from Tower 2 in our unit 3602 was fabulous. It's only 3 blocks away from Waikiki Beach. The condo is very to clean, spacious and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. We slept very well on the huge Tempur-Pedic king sized bed. Highly recommended.

Rooms are old and a bit run down. We had to move from the first room as it was awful. Stained carpet dirty floors, walls and bathroom. The second suite was much better with hardwood floors and much cleaner. The staff is amazing and the location is great.

I will 100% stay here again. Our room was clean, updated, and the kitchen well stocked with utensils. The elevators could sometimes take a while, but everything else was phenomenal. I booked direct through the hotel, and stayed in tower 2. View of diamond head from the recreational floor and super easy to reserve a grill.

Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Slept with the patio door open. Enjoyed the morning bird doing his call between 4 and 6am. It sounded so enchanting. I loved it. 5 minute walk to the beach. ⛱️

I've stayed here twice and we love it. It's not the Hilton but it's still great. Very helpful staff and accommodating. Short walk to the beach from here and the strip. BBQ, pool, hot tub. Spacious rooms with kitchens and separate bedrooms. I'll probably stay here again when I come back!

I am a VRI condo owner so my room is probably different from others. We visited July 2022. Our room needed updated but most importantly it needs a new bed! This has to be the worst mattress I have ever slept on! My lower back killed in the night and it hurt so bad trying to get out in the mornings! If the bed is bad it makes the whole stay bad! I had to take my towels to the office to get new ones. It was down 15 flours, then over to the other tower and back up 4 floors. Wouldn't have been terrible except the elevators were soooo busy and slow! The location to the beach was walkable but it is quite a ways and super busy. We didn't spend much time in the area. Much prettier places to go and see. And one last thing, the hot tubs were smaller than some people have at their homes. We could barely fit 5 of us and our feet and legs were all touching!! That's ridiculous considering there's hundreds of rooms and even more people they are trying to serve. All in all, I wouldn't stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone!

We stayed in a vrbo condo in the building. Great view of Diamond Head from 34th floor but lower floors would have been looking at a building. Still, good location, decent accommodations. We like having a kitchen. Walkable to many stores, coffee shops, beach, etc.

I visit Hawaii for extended periods of time multiple times a year, and always stay here at the Waikiki Banyan or at the Waikiki Sunset next door. The prices are reasonable and the location is superb. Just a block away from the beach, and a 5-10 min walk to Central Waikiki. Close enough to be convenient but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. A top benefit here is that (most) vacation rentals come with parking included. This costs a whopping $50 a night at nearby hotels so the savings here are huge. Having free parking along with what is essentially a 1-bedroom suite, all for the a price CHEAPER than the chain hotel resorts. I don't see why any visitors would want to stay in a Hilton, Marriott, or Hyatt when you can stay here at the Waikiki Banyan. Room quality and service is hit or miss depending on the property managers you book with. Aston (the front desk managers) is pretty good but by far the best experiences I've had have been with Jong on Airbnb. Highly recommended!

It's a tall apartment building. Inside the building had a weird smell. There are four elevators. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are two buildings, tower I and tower II, which are actually near each other. There was someone at the front desk. The best thing is the location and the view. We enjoyed staying at this place.

We selected this hotel because it is very affordable and figured we’d only be in the room to sleep. We were pleasantly surprised to find it very clean and secure and the location was excellent for everything.Although we only ate one meal in the room(apartment)we easily could have eaten every meal there with a fully stocked kitchen. There’s also a laundry on each floor. The pool, hot tubs and view were great.I would recommend this place and would gladly stay here again.

This is the place: home away from home. We were greeted by Lance ( a very polite and courteous staff member)at the front desk. And from then on our every request was met with satisfaction. The front desk staff is always willing and ready to lend a helping hand. House Keeping services made sure our stay was comfortable. Tower II has the best setup. No hesitations to say this is the best place to stay for apartment style hotel in Waikiki

The front desk Staff were EXCELLENT!! We were not happy with our room when we arrived, and they went above & beyond to find us another one, and it worked perfectly! The only drawback was the older "security" gentlemen that works for them, he was EXTREMELY rude at every encounter!! Other than him, this place was a great choice for our Hawaii vacation, and we would definitely stay here again!

First the downside. Been here 6 nights so far. There have been 4 emergencies! The speaker is in the bathroom. Evacuation down to the street using the stairwells. Do not come here if you want peace and quiet. This has been going on for years! Inexcusable and building owner should be fined for each occurrence until it is resolved. The upside. Inexpensive parking. The staff all work very hard and are dedicated. The room was okay.

  • 4/5 Game P. 1 year ago on Google
The room was clean and the location is great but very no frills from the management. One of the elevators was wrapped with blankets for some reason (my family called it the murder scene elevator the whole trip). You should know the fire station is only about a block away so you will hear sirens regularly. But it's so close to the beach and was very well priced.

Stayed here for a week and it was great. Great rooms and the mini mart was super convenient. There’s a cute cafe on the first floor as well! Only complaint is that the pool closes at 9, but it’s understandable!
