We had a lovely stay at Hotel Renew. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and were helpful with any questions. The location is very close to the beach and very walkable to shops and places to eat. Our room had good views of the beach and Waikiki. The only negative was that the street can become noisy with the other hotels close by getting deliveries, and the noise of trucks reversing and loading can be loud. But other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed on the 7th floor with an ocean view room - decent view of the ocean, but you're also looking straight down at neighboring hotel's pool and roof top bar. Hotel is situated right off of the main road, but was very noisy at night. We had to sleep with ear plugs in and a sound machine going. I didn't catch his name, but the young guy who checked us in and took care of us the majority of our stay was so nice and accommodating. He even brought a hair dryer up to our room after we discovered our room was missing one. He was awesome - thank you! The hotel parking is tight and limited and at an additional cost of $35/night. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Quick access to main road and beach by foot. Likely wouldn't return here because we prefer somewhere more quiet and secluded than being down in the hub of it all.

My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about our stay at Hotel Renew. The front desk staff and the housekeeping staff were phenomenal and kind. My husband and I ventured to various parts of the island and the ability to check out chairs, snorkels and beach towels was a nice enhancement to our vacation. We loved being so close to everything in Waikiki but removed enough to escape the noise. Our king room was beautiful and the bed/linens were Devine. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great location, small boutique hotel, complimentary chilled and filtered water station to refill your water bottle, friendly staff. Nice beach towels, beach chairs and storage for surfboard. Rooms are very tired, paint was peeling off the ceiling in bedroom and bathrooms, Aircon was old and noisy. Louvred glass window was missing a piece or two and hadn’t been cleaned. Only one lift was working. Unfortunately there was no bar or cafe in the lobby even though it was advertised as a service/feature. Generally it was nice, comfortable, reasonably priced and convenient location , a short walk to the beach and restaurants.

After reading the positive and negative reviews below I decided to review the hotel before booking in. It didn’t disappoint The whole hotel is beautiful and a gorgeous small boutique style which is a warm welcome from the large scale commercial hotels. This hotel, once American owned, has new traditional Hawaiian owners who are bringing Hawaii back into the cultural feel of this hotel. It’s so lovely in every way. The hotel is filled with aromatherapy fragrance which is so calming and inviting. Your personal sachet of lavender to sleep beside is gifted upon check in The standard rooms on the left facing side, overlook a traditional Hawaiian street (people complain about the view but forget they’re in Hawaii and not a big commercial city) it’s quaint and reflective of the streets that make up the feel of Hawaii. The ocean side on the right have views. The hotel is so close to the beach that you don’t particularly need views every moment of your holiday. The rooms are modern, well equipped and looked after. They gave a very comfortable luxurious feel with soft cosy beds equivalent to any higher end chain. They have beautiful smelling toiletries to use, again using aromatherapy. Rooms have both a privacy screen on windows and additional black out sliding Hawaiian shutters which make for a perfect black out room and sleep. It’s super quiet at night and the staff are so lovely, happy and make being here a delight It really is a lovely change away from the busy hotels only seconds from the beach

We had an excellent week long stay at Hotel Renew. We had a party of 4, and were in 2 rooms with partial sea view and balconies. For the location right next to Waikiki beach, this hotel is a gem. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. They were great at providing us with what we needed for the day such as beach chairs, towels, extra coffee, travel advice and bus schedules. The lobby is well decorated and feels very relaxing as soon as you walk in. The rooms may feel a bit on the small side to some, but you are paying for location. They are clean and modern, with a great shower and bathroom. Lots of places to unpack and hide suitcases away. We got ourselves organized on day one to clear the floor and put clothes away into the warddrobe and it felt great, once tidy, for the rest of the stay. Beautiful views of the sunset dropping over the ocean horizon from the balconies that face north. I would definitely recommend staying here, and we will stay here again for our next visit to Honolulu.

Bright, mid-century modern look rooms. It's in a perfect location, steps from Waikiki Beach. Extremely friendly staff. Overall, a really good value. Lots of great food nearby as well.

Good for a cheap hotel in Waikiki unless you have a car. (See below) The rooms were well decorated but nothing special. Less than 200feet from beach. Great restaurant next door (Tiki Grill) which has live music. The website lies about having a bar and serving food. The bar is closed and no drink or food is served other than a help yourself coffee pot in the morning. Was told bar may open next year. Also NO parking. Only Valet, which is $50 per night. Staff were very welcoming.

So happy I chose this boutique hotel. So close to the beach, wonderful and comfortable room, friendly staff, beach gear available. Couldn’t ask for a better Waikiki experience. I chose a partial ocean view room with balcony - very happy with this room. Have already booked my next stay!

Decent small scale hotel in a great location (if you want to be close to the beach). We were only here for one night flying back to Australia with an early morning check out. Staff very friendly and the hotel check in and lobby was clean and comfortable if not very small. The bar was closed for renovations and there is no food available on site. We paid about $300 US for a King room, bed was comfortable and the room itself quite spacious. Unfortunately the view was terrible, and the housekeeping needs some improvement as we found a few hairs on the wall and around sink. Overall a decent place for a short stay.

We stayed one night when we unexpectedly realized we were one night short at one of the bigger hotels nearby. The staff was really friendly and accommodating each time we came in, first to see if they had a room, then check luggage, and finally check in. The room was super clean and well organized, and beach equipment was a plus. Location is excellent. It’s not a big high rise so no endless waiting on elevators.

Loved this hotel! Was great value for the price. Centrally located to downtown activities and the beach. Having car valet was so helpful! We didn’t check out late but they allowed us to store our baggage in a safe area since our flight was late at night and they helped load our vehicles when we came back after more touring. We were very happy. Staff were excellent, Kait at the front desk was so helpful, Lance was our main car valet and also so friendly and helpful. We slept well, beds were comfortable, room was clean with no issues.

Loved this hotel! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The location is right near Waikiki beach. It’s a small and intimate hotel. Super cute balcony ocean view room we got. The only thing that is a problem is the parking.. you pretty much have to valet because there’s no parking in that area. And Google maps doesn’t take you to the right road.. so you have to Google the hotel next door to get there. But that’s obviously not their fault. Highly recommend.

Best hotel we’ve ever been to! My wife and I booked this hotel for our honeymoon and they treated us so so well! We love it here and look forward to coming back. Highly recommended. Amazing staff, accommodations, and perfect location. Right off the beach and near tons of dining places.

Loved this hotel! Was great value for the price. We arrived very early at 6am and the hotel was really kind and offered us an early check in. We also got a late check out for free too. We were very happy. Staff were excellent, location was perfect on the edge of the city and away from the madness and rooms were cute and stylish. We slept well too. Recommended for the price

The first star is for the location and second star for the staff. Aside from those two factors, I slightly regret choosing this hotel: Upon arriving, immediately found some shave clippings around the sink and had to go down to grab some cleaning supplies to clean it up. Staff was kind in offering to send someone to clean it but I was tired and wanted the privacy. Woke up, found some unknown stains on the chair cushion and window shade. Made the room feel dirty. Stayed on the second floor, only 1 of their 2 elevators worked (no big deal) but they don’t even have stairs to go up the one floor to our room, had to wait in a line for the elevator that could only fit 4-5 people at a time (or 2 people with luggage). Confused about the 4 star hotel thing because there’s no restaurant, no cafe/bar, no pool. It’s a basic hotel with limited parking and should be corrected to reflect their lack of amenities. Anywhere else would consider this 2 star for how basic it is, and definitely way overpriced for what we got. But again want to reiterate that the staff is friendly and welcoming and the location is ideal for a Waikiki stay.

1st room had baby roaches and I know it’s an island however I can’t do baby roaches. Was upgraded right away to this oven view room which was awesome but it smelled like mildew in bathroom. Staff was super accommodating. Beach chairs, umbrellas and mats all complimentary. You can ask for a microwave if needed, and if it’s available. No balcony in either room either. Day before checkout tho I had super roach in my room lol

Good location for the price and staff, esp Johnny at the front desk, are always friendly. We enjoyed our stay at Renew. The only downside I would say is that sometimes the sink leaks from the side and the bathroom is quite small. Oh and paid parking spots are tiny and they oversell the spots!

Outstanding hotel which is literally a minute’s walk away from the beach! Everything went very smoothly and we want to personally thank Roxanne for her amazing guest service and recommendations. It was a pleasure talking to you! All of the other staff we’ve met was also very attentive and we always felt well taken care of. The room itself was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfy and we slept well at night. Our room also had a balcony which was a nice extra touch. At the reception, the hotel offers beach towels etc. at no extra charge. Its location is perfect for a stay in Waikiki since it’s close to the beach, restaurants, bars and shops and there are bus stops nearby. They also offer parking but I’m not sure how much it costs per night. We picked up our rental car when we checked out of the hotel and continued our trip on another part of the island. Altogether, we had a very pleasant stay and would love to come back in the future!

The location and distance to major tourist attractions is the main benefit of staying at the Hotel Renew. It is a stone throw away from the beach and very close to upscale shopping and restaurants. The hotel itself has been recently renovated to be be more modern, but does not have a pool/dining and other amenities that one might want from a Hawaii vacation. The rooms were clean, however we did have a significant ant problem that covered our luggage and clothing. We told the front desk and they gave us a discount. There is parking, but it costs extra to use and is limited. Overall, a great stay and would recommend!

I love this place. Staff are friendly. Room was affordable -not huge but perfectly adequate. I had the partial ocean view with balcony and loved it. PLUS they stored my bags both before and after I checked in. And let me use a bathroom in their lobby! That’s good service. I’ll be back for sure.

Overall my stay was so pleasant. The front desk staff was SOOO kind and attentive during my stay. I was able to borrow many outdoor activity equipment (beach chairs, matts, snorkeling gears, life jackets, towels), and that was huge, as my friend's hotel did not offer any of them. The room was cozy/cute just like the photos I saw online, and it was clean and very quiet. They did not have body lotion (only shampoo, soap, body wash), so that would be a great addition in the future for them to consider. Free morning coffee in the lobby was nice to have along with my morning snacks before I head out. The hotel is very close from the beach and one ABC store is like 10 sec walk to get anything you like including snacks, water, sun screens, etc. The location was excellent. If I visit Waikiki area again, I'll definitely want to stay there again. :)

AMAZING hotel. Warm and friendly staff. Always greeting me with a smile. Very good location-literally less than a block from Waikiki Beach. We stayed in a room with an ocean view, a little more money but soooooo worth it! Modern rooms that were super clean and smelled like lavender. This hotel offered beach towels and chairs as a courtesy, which was very useful. I would 100% choose to stay here when I return to Oahu. Book here and you will not regret it. So sad I am leaving tomorrow!

Small but super friendly "ohana" style hotel that is less than a block away from Waikiki beach! The hotel was more than perfect for my family. Pretty much we were there only to sleep during our stay. Those beach-must-amenities (beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gears, and bodyboards!) included in resort fee were super helpful. Complemental coffee in the morning was pretty good. Oh, don't forget to fill your water bottle before you leave, there is filtered water machine in the hotel lobby! Miss Kaila, the front office supervisor is friendly and very pleasant ;) I rather stay at the Hotel Renew and enjoy their hospitality than to receive non-personal front staff at those over priced brand hotels..

Nice, affordable place today stay. Great location, walking distance to everything you could need. Have a lot of goodies to offer like beach towels and chairs. Too bad they don’t have a gym or pool. Otherwise, it worth what we paid.

We stayed here for a week. The room was nice for what we paid. The room was clean and as described. We had parking with in and out privileges. The valet was pretty quick every time we needed the car. I accidentally rented an obnoxiously large vehicle, and the valet was totally cool about parking it and getting it for me. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay at Hotel Renew again if I stay in this area of Waikiki again.

Great location. Center of dimond head, Waikiki Beach and all the restaurants. Yes the rooms are more compact than your standard mainland hotel room. But equivalent to any large city similar to a NYC hotel room. Space comes at a premium , but this hotel is the BEST value for your dollar. Quiet guests, completely GOOD morning coffee, informative staff good with directing hapless tourists to good restaurants.

Great spot. Clean rooms so Close to everything. View of the ocean from our window was a treat. Staff were all so amazing! Charlie, sorry we didn't get to have that tequila! Next time. Aloha and Mahalo Randy & Lisa-Marie from NZ

The hotel is rated at 4-star but felt more like 2-star for various reasons. 1) It doesn’t serve breakfast 2) It is not a resort but charges resort fee 3) The rooms were not clean enough (hairs in the bathroom and unclean windows) 4) Arranged airport taxi the night before at the reception but it was not booked and ended up calling on the spot. Also I was told it’s flat rate but it wasn’t 5) lifts are old 6) No laundry bag and empty minibar With slightly higher rates I could have booked a better hotel in a more central location

It was a pleasant experience staying here. The rooms are nice, and the hotel is a short walk to the beach and lots of stores and restaurants. It is a smaller hotel, but what made our stay memorable was the staff. All employees on all shifts were super nice, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Alanieta W. 1 year ago on Google
If you’re looking for a place to stay in Waikiki - this is the best place! Not too pricey, hotels are clean, beach is a mere 2 min walk away. The bus stop is also 2 min walk away, an ABC convenience stop is by it, if you’re heading out for Luau, tour etc the pickup spot is close too. They don’t offer breakfast but many breakfast spots are close, rooms are serviced daily and the hotel staff are very friendly. If you can get a room with a balcony - it’s got some of the best views!

Hotel Renew was great for the night we spent in Honolulu on our honeymoon! The staff was fantastic, warm, and so helpful. Parking was easy and we were able to walk to so many restaurants and shops to enjoy Honolulu and Waikiki. The décor was trendy and modern, but also super cozy. We would absolutely stay here again!

Very decent rooms, no balconys but it's clean and bright with the ocean view on one side of the building. Free beach chairs, towels, snorkels etc in the lobby. The rooms have a fridge but not one microwave in the hotel. Parking is best down the street at Royal banyan parking garage.

I stayed here for 2 weeks and it was a great perfect little home. Location is close to the beach or you can head east to other ones that are less crowded, also close to get to the hiking trails. Service was incredible, thanks Charlee and Lance and others for taking care of me! The room was clean, bed very comfy, AC was great and room service was top notch. I will definitely stay here again- hopefully sooner rather than later. Highly recommend :)

  • 4/5 Kay P. 1 year ago on Google
Service was top tier, they let you borrow chairs, towels, boogie boards, and snorkels. They're helpful and kind, and remember you. One of the elevators was down so the wait sometimes took a few minutes. ~5 was the longest we waited, when housekeeping was making the rounds. Parking is... just don't count on it. The AC in our room was a bit damp, and more of a humidifier at times. There was a strange button in the bathroom that said "touch me" but it did nothing.. Wish I got an explanation for that one. The view was of a power line but I did not have any problem with that. It was silly and I liked it honestly. Shower pressure could've gone up a few notches and still been almost enough. But honestly, I'd stay there again, hence the 4 stars. Gosh that "Touch Me" button is going to sit with me for awhile. WHAT DOES IT DO?

You couldn't ask for a better location, great view, extremely convenient to the beach and tons of great food. Staff was very friendly at all times and they offer a lot of extras for beach fun. It was a little wonky finding with a car at first, but once we got the hang of it, easy peasy. Scout ahead on street view and you'll avoid a lap around the block

  • 4/5 Walt M. 1 year ago on Google
The accommodations are really just average, at best, but there is a small, somewhat secure covered parking lot and the location - less than a block from Waikiki Beach ⛱ - is fabulous. Many rooms have a good view of the water.

Hotel Renew was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the doors. The staff was very friendly and always super helpful with any needs or requests. I love the smaller, boutique style hotel without all the crowds or noise. The room was nice and modern, but the best thing were the views! The location is amazing right in the heart of Waikiki and walkable to anything you would want to see or do. Hotel Renew is literally steps from the beach and with their beach chair, snorkel gear, and boogie board free amenities it was so easy to enjoy the beach and water every day. Just a short walk down the beach path (3-5 min walk) is Queens Beach that has lots of reefs for snorkeling right off the beach. Another short walk offers you access to surfing with both board rentals and lessons available right there. The number of restaurants and shops within walking distant are too many to count! Hotel Renew was a perfect place to stay for our Hawaiian getaway and the price compared to similar hotels in the area was so reasonable. Thank you Hotel Renew - hope to come back soon!!
