If you're thinking this is a cheap hotel and a good deal, you're only right about one thing; this place is cheap. It's dirty, smells, and the workers absolutely loathe tourists. They've been primarily rude and sarcastic, of course there were a few kind/polite employees, but you have to be lucky. Its just pretty funny because they're a HOTEL, it's literally their job to work with and accomodate tourists and travelers. The parking attendants don't know how to properly inform guests of procedures, causing more mishaps and inconveniences. Problems before even getting into the hotel! If you're lucky, housekeeping will bring the things you ask for, but after 1-2 hours... Mini Mart worker cranky and mean; 2 little girls were looking at hair ties (they were with their dad) and the lady kept telling them to "put it down". I don't think that's a good way to make sales? I won't ever be returning here and this hotel definitely makes me consider never returning to Hawaii, despite this being my first time. I'll actively be discouraging everyone I know from booking here.

We stayed here in January 2022. Compared to most of the other hotels in and near Waikiki, this one was the most reasonable especially for the amount of square footage that you get. So price-wise it was a good deal. On a positive note it was only about a 10-20 minute walk to the beach and most other places and restaurants nearby, making it conveniently located. You could also Uber most anywhere, other than North Shore in about 25 minutes or less. The hotel offers a large open outside seating area with grills, and a pool which the pool requires a reservation due to COVID issues. The room is a nice sized suite, with a living area that has a full kitchen and a bedroom area. They also have laundry for a fee and a mini-mart that is a little pricey. On a negative note, it is a bit worn, and could use a paint job. It is not a resort style hotel, so the lobby area is small, and there are no restaurants. There is no maid services, you are responsible to ask for your own towels, toilet paper, and trash, etc. I believe they clean after you check out. After business hours you have to pick up towels from the front desk. Not sure if, when they clean the room, that they clean the bird poop from the balcony rail and outside furniture. We would have liked to use the balcony, but it was lined with bird poop. If you are looking for a spacious room for a reasonable price, then it may work for you, but what they offer in price, they lack in quality and service. "You get what you pay for."

I will start with some positives. I had a great view of diamond head, the staff has been nice thus far. It’s in a good location, within walking distance to the beach and other shopping. Now…. Parking is difficult to come across and do not park in the back of the hotel by the fence by that school, you WILL get a ticket. The garage next to the hotel is not owned by the hotel and costs $25. DO NOT DRIVE AN SUV!!!!! It will not fit pass the first level. You can fit pass the first ramp and once you come to the second it will scrape the top of your car. The rooms out very outdated, they appear dirty and look dirty. However, my bed was comfortable so they get a star for that. But then I deduct a star because I seen a couple roaches in my room and all they offered was to change rooms or just have a company come spray. No apologies or accommodations no nothing. And I’m stuck here for 5 more days 😭😭😭. I will never stay here again. EVER!

The room was a little dated. Peeling cabinets, no cover for pot, broken can opener and no glassware with covers for food storage. We loved the full size fridge, location was close to everywhere we needed to go and we were able to find parking in the parking garage each day we were there. We got a DVD rental card which allowed us 2 free DVDs at a time and admission to Bishop Museum. We definitely made use of the laundry room which was conveniently located down the hall from our room. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. We would stay here again.

It’s a dirty, old building with clear signs of its age and use. Hallways are smelly and not air conditioned so they are hot and stuffy. Walls are super thin so you hear people talking at normal Conversation volume. The grills on the pool deck are nice. They clean them daily (could see if them from my room). We had a city view which was decent view of the hillside. The room I had was a decent size one bed room with a decent kitchen. The AC works well be is crazy loud. The shower left some to be desired, I like a hot shower even in a hot climate, so the temp and water pressure were terrible. Make sure you keep open food in a container because they got roaches. I saw a big one (prob 2” long) on my balcony which I killed and when we left we found a dead one by one of our bags 🤮. We knew about the roach problem on the island so we were using ziplock bags and resealable containers and once we found our “roommates” we were happy we had been. How this place has 4 stars I can’t understand 2 is more accurate. There prob are worse but of the multiple places we have stayed in Hawaii, this was by far The worst.

We were on the 31st floor. The view of the ocean and Diamondhead were excellent. The staff was nice and friendly. Room 3108 was old and tired. Carpet and cabinets were worn. Condo contained the bare minimum for cooking utensils. The refrigerator was barely cold. Freezer was really cold but didn't keep things frozen. We actually kept all our cold food in the freezer. Reported the broken appliances every day and was told Maintenance would come up, but they never did. We were completely disappointed this time. We stayed in the same location 5 years ago and loved it. Certainly a difference in owners and how well they take care of their units. Doubtful we'll stay here again!

Run away!!! My family and I are here in Waikiki now and checked in yesterday and we have already decided to try to get a refund and booked the nearby Hilton hotel which is an actual 4 star hotel. Whether we end up getting a refund or not, we cannot stay here. To start, they told us the water will be off from 8am to 5pm on multiple days of our stay, but no discount on our room for those days. The actual room is very dirty and outdated. Fridge had orange marks all over the outside and brown marks all over the inside, looks like it has never been cleaned! The kitchen floor was dirty as well as the inside of the microwave and sink. The carpet that covers the rest of the room has stains throughout and also looks like it’s never been cleaned. Same with the couch, gross. Our two twin beds had holes in the sheets. The water pressure in the shower is non existent and the tub was also dirty and had hair in it. DO NOT STAY. There are plenty of other hotel options in the same area, if not way closer to all the activities near by.

Front desk staff are very friendly and the location is very close to the Waikiki beach. There are many restaurants to choose from. The ocean view from the balcony is beautiful. This is where the good things end. The rooms are run down and disgustingly dirty. We had to disinfect all surfaces before touching them. The couch in the room is stained. We sat on the balcony chairs instead. Housekeeping was completed every 3 days. During our one week stay, we had 2 false fire alarms and had to go down 30 stories. The front desk staff never came out to let guests know it was safe to go back. I will not stay here again.

It’s good for the price and is in a good location that’s a 10 minute walk from Waikiki. They should make the hotel prettier on the outside with torches and other stuff. Not really a 4 star hotel. More like an Airbnb that only gets cleaned once a week. Did come with the right kitchen appliances and utensils that made breakfast a breeze. Hotel was quick to provide extra bedding when asked. They also provided late checkout at no additional cost. They charge 25$ in amenity fee daily and another 25$ for parking. The parking attendant is not the nicest person.

My Ocean View condo was amazing worth every penny! Condo was clean and comfortable and also close proximity to the beach and the zoo. My only disappointment was the pool, more like a plunge pool and on shady side of the building with the trade winds whipping in, it got cool, if you want to swim get down there before 11:30am if you want some sun.

If you're traveling with kids don't stay anywhere else! So convenient to everything! Rooms are big with fantastic views. And kids get beach balls up on check in. The little market on the 5th floor has everything you need for a fantastic stay too! The pool always seemed to be crowded and cold tho.

Upon entering our room, we discovered a sofa bed containing a screwdriver and a blood-stained tissue. While changing the sheets, I accidentally stepped on a piece of glass, resulting in a cut on my foot. Although we informed the hotel, they only offered to change our room the next day after 3 p.m., which wasn't convenient as we had already unpacked. Despite the nice room layout and a comfortable bed, cleanliness issues were evident, particularly around outlets, especially in the kitchen. The kitchen lacked essential items like spoons and oven pans. Additionally, parking proved to be inconsistent and frustrating. Various attendants charged differently, some upon entry and others upon exit, providing different-looking tickets and charging inconsistent amounts (ranging from $25 to $25.75). This lack of professionalism and organization was frustrating, not ideal for a vacation. On a positive note, the hotel's proximity to the beach and amenities was advantageous. The pool area, equipped with BBQs, tables, and lounge chairs, offered a pleasant environment.

The Aston Waikiki Sunset is a great place to stay based on location and price. It's a 3 minute walk to the beach. Plus, you can get a full kitchen, including appliances like a blender, and all the needed cooking utensils, along with lots of free coffee at no additional cost, so it's ideal for someone traveling on a budget, or big families who don't want to eat out for every meal. The hotel also features several laundry rooms, meaning you can wash your clothes on the same floor you are staying without a big fuss or leaving the site. The views are awesome, I was staying on the 37th floor with a full panoramic view of the beach, which kept me waking up at 5 a.m. just to see the sunrise. The only thing that I was surprised about was the small fitness center charging $27 to get in, I'm still unsure if it was a daily or weekly pass, if you are a gym fan, call to ask them about the fees. In the end, all the features overcome the gym fees, or the lack of a jacuzzi.

Hotel went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. Our room was clean not exactly what we expected as far as layout but seemed to be a misconception with the travel agency. Our views were amazing staff was friendly attentive. Kitchen was nice beds were comfy. 1 thing parking with a large vehicle is a nightmare only about 5 spaces available for a vehicle taller then 6ft so several nights there were no spaces available. Just don't get the xl vehicle and you will be fine !! Short distance walking to beach ⛱️ great room views and balcony

I'm not gonna lie, I was very nervous about staying here. It is an old property but our 2 bedroom with a full kitchen was clean and had everything we needed to prepare meals. The location was good, in a quiet area and about 3 blocks from the beach and the main area where everything is located. I did not park here. Would I stay here again??? Hmmmmm....maybe.

Great location, we were on the 35th floor with the views of the ocean and side views of Diamond Head. Waikiki is a busy place with lots of traffic and action, the noise does carry to your room even to the 35th. There is constant noise from emergency vehicles, transit buses and other services (all necessary). The building itself is dated but has everything you need and it works. The staff are excellent and are willing to assist. Overall a good place to enjoy the views and relax. This was a 3 week stay for us and we enjoyed it.

Location is 3 blocks from the ocean, service was amazing, rooms are decent. Cute little balcony that we could see a piece of the ocean. Parking was easy to figure out but if you plan on staying close to shops or doing tours, everything is within walking distance. Diamond Head trail is 7 minutes away but you do need reservations.

Room was clean and correct! Though the hotel is old, some equipments should have upgraded. Staff was very kind and good!! The room here was spacious but too much noise like vehicles at night , and old engine rumbling 24/24. And yes, view is good !

Very quiet side of Waikiki with an unbeatable view of Diamond Head. Was wonderful to eat outside on the lanai with this amazing view. The beach is a few minutes away. Corner unit - so very nice cross winds. Fully equipped and very comfortable beds. We stayed in apt. 1414, rented through Captain Cook rentals. Parking included which is very important to have, because street parking is almost impossible to find.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room came stocked with dishes, utensils, and cooking pots and pans and a full size stove and fridge. Excellent view of the ocean. Staff was super helpful and accommodating. Pool is on the smaller size on a great deck with lots of barbecues and lounge chairs with a great view of Diamond Head. Would come back again.

The views are spectacular. Just a few minutes walk to the beach and a large variety of places to eat, convenient stores ect. All of the staff that I encountered were very friendly, informative and professional, including the parking garage. And I never had any problems finding a parking spot, even late at night. Sure the furniture is a little dated, but if you’re on vacation in Hawaii, how much time are you really spending there anyway? All in all, my stay there was great, and don’t have any real complaints. I would definitely stay here again.

Am ever so happy that I booked here. The room we had accommodated five of us. The Deluxe suite. Huge comfortable room. 14 & 13 year old slept on the pull out sofa bed (you would not think it was a sofa bed) and partner myself and 6 year old in huge king bed. Staff are accommodating absolutely lovely people. Location is excellent close to public transport, the beach, convenience stores. Would definitely come back here.

Great hotel, great view and great location. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. 5 minutes from the beach and ABC shops as far as the eye can see. Will definitely be back next year.

I’ve never taken the time to write a review for any place in my life. This place has motivated me to do so. Neither of the TV’s worked. Guy came and fixed it a day later, and it was broken again next time I turned it on. Eventually, I figured out you just have to press random buttons for 20 minutes to get any type of connection to cable. The fire alarm went off twice, obviously a malfunction. I heard people saying on the street outside while everyone was outside that this happens literally every week. Most people didn’t even come out because they already knew. We got barely any towels and was an absolute chore to get more for absolutely no reason. And finally, the human being (don’t know if it’s a woman or man) that works the parking lot entrance and exit was quite possibly the rudest person i’ve ever met in my life for absolutely no reason. Reading these other reviews, it’s obvious she’s an issue for everyone. Overheard her yelling at other people too. Not sure why she still has a job at this place, but it goes to show how much this hotel actually cares about their guests. Got yelled at multiple times for mask when i was literally 2 steps in the lobby with it in my hand in the process of putting it on. Only thing good about this place is location and the shower feels nice.

Here is the good and bad from someone who stayed a week at this hotel. The good....the view was fantastic. A beautiful view of Diamondhead. Couldn't ask for a better view. The location was very convenient. Everything was no more than a 20-minute walk. Easy to get to everything you needed. The bad....the room and hotel were very outdated. Everything was old-looking. The service was no better. They only cleaned the room one time. You had to ask for towels and then they wouldn't bring them up....you had to go down and get them yourself....sometimes they didn't even have any left! There were no eating facilities. There were no conveniences of any kind except for a "mini mart" for basic items. Their lobby was two wooden benches. On top of all this, the fire alarm went off twice. This is not the place if you want any type of convenience or service from a hotel. It is just a place to sleep. I wouldn't even mind this, except for the fact they charged a lot of money. It honestly wasn't worth the money but if you wanted a two-bedroom place to stay with a kitchen it was the only game in town and they knew it so they charged a lot of money for it.

I’m not sure what all the complaints are about, but my spouse and I have been here for almost four days and it’s been nothing short of amazing. The reviews almost made us cancel our reservations but I’m glad we didn’t. The room was nice and clean, with a BEAUTIFUL view of the beach and Diamond Head. The staff, from the security guards to the front desk attendants, have been nothing but nice, helpful and respectful. Any questions we’ve had, they’ve answered them to the best of their abilities. I’ve seen several people complain about the parking, the water situation and the cleaning. 75% of the hotels charge more than this hotel, and if you actually read their site, they made it very clear about the water situation (which wasn’t a situation at all) and the housekeeping. For our first visit to Hawaii, Aston Sunset has made this trip memorable for sure! Thank you!

Nice rooms, great view, and easy walking distance from the beach. There's no hot tub, and the gym is about as well stocked as some random guy's garage but they still make you jump through a bunch of hoops to use it. Oh, and parking isn't free! In fact, it's pretty expensive. On top of that the people behind the desks don't always know what's going on. However, their actual policies are convenient, there's plenty of easy access to beach towels and so on. As long as you don't plan to spend much time at the hotel and don't bring a car or don't mind paying to park, then it's great.

😐 The rooms no longer have dishes or cutlery, we can buy our own from the MCX across the street.... Not exactly ideal considering the long stays.
