My least favorite hotel/resort experience in a long time. But there is good and bad. VIEW Bad. Horrible. An ugly roof, the side of a building, and a busy, LOUD street. Sirens, racing cars, busses-- all so loud. BATHROOM Good-- the bathroom shower is the best I've ever had with strong water and a hand held option. There is a bidet on the toilet and the TV in the bathroom mirror. Bad--tub fills from the ceiling- yes this looks cool but it turns out that is not because the splashing is craziness and it is so so loud. KITCHEN Good--It's fully stocked with dishes and cookware, has a cook top (no oven). Instant hot tap on sink and a kettle. Bad--zero room for food - you have to move and rearrange all the dishes to find any space for groceries. A glass shelf over the counter for dishes would look nice if they ever improve storage. Also, the cabinet hits the entry door when you open it enough to pull out a drawer. A designer somewhere didn't do a very good job spatially. DINING Only designed for 2 in a room that sleeps 6. We had 3 so we pulled a stool from the bathroom to make it work. BEDROOM Good--Hilton beds are always awesome. Know This-- is double beds, not queens Bad-- only one beside table between both beds so shared space with a big lamp, phone, and clock on it, so little space left for phones and drinks. BALCONY Bad. All 100% bad. Our door was locked and we couldn't go out on ours at all. Probably because of the worst location a room could ever have. Even if you could open the door, it's Itty bitty. POOL Forget about it. Why they bothered is beyond me. Made my kiddo want to be inside playing video games and she normally loves pools. 3ft max and not even a lap pool since there's a bench down the middle. Worst pool of any resort I've stayed at. If you just want a lounge chair and bar, fine, but it's no kind of pool. LOCATION Meh. If you're visiting Hawaii to spend thousands of dollars on high-end items, fine, but it's just a fancy mall with lots of traffic. You have to walk a few blocks to the beach. CONSTRUCTION Worst part of the stay was construction. Every single morning and throughout the day, jackhammering, drilling, noise so intense we could feel the whole room vibrate and couldn't hear a TV. Every single day. SERVICE The team was nice and helpful. The bottom line is that I would never stay at this resort again. With the cost of it, the constant noise of traffic and construction, and a total lack of pool when it's not on the beach makes it a waste of money. Pick somewhere else.

The Hokulani is a perfect place to stay on Waikiki. It is so close to everything. We didn't get a car because of the rental car situation right now and were worried how it would affect our vacation. It didn't. This hotel is close to the beach, shopping, restaurants and the bus system. The rooms are plenty large, comfortable, and well equipped. The front desk is so helpful too. It's a great place for couples to stay unless you want a large pool. The pool area and hottub are nice and have a great view, but the pool is just very small and only 3 feet deep.

Location is very convenient. Walking distance is within 5-10 mins to restaurants (price friendly to high-end), shopping, convenient store and beach access. The hotel has kitchen, rooftop pool ( small) and laundry room. The staff are friendly. But keep in mind the location is at the corner of two busy street; it gets very loud at night. I would recommend requesting your room to face the building view.

This hotel is fine, but it's nothing special. We chose this place because it was relatively inexpensive and could sleep two adults and two children, but the couch bed is the single most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. The balcony is too small to enjoy which doesn't really matter since the view from it is another building It has pros, though. It has a free washer and dryer. You can walk to Waikiki beach in ten minutes. There are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby including a Starbucks right next door. It has a place to cook as well as pots and pans and dishes. The bathroom is very big compared to the room and is the nicest part. I loved the rain shower. It also has a bidet and a TV in the mirror in the bathroom. The roof has a shallow, small pool, a bar, and a projector. Some of the seating area was closed off. You can't see the Friday night fireworks from their roof, so it's best to go to the beach and watch. The turn in was hard to find, and you can't get in touch with anyone if you call after hours. So you know, there's a garage under the building before you get to it on the right on Kalakaua Ave.

Amazing resort at the heart of Waikiki. Right at the Beach walk. We had a 1 bedroom suite. The rooms are modern and clean. The kitchen is very nice with all the amenities that you need. The bathroom is very modern. The rooftop amenities including the hot tub, pool and lounge chairs where nice. The surroundings are well kept. The people and service were great, from the valet, to the concierge, lobby and housekeeping, everyone was friendly and great. This will be my go to hotel in Waikiki.

The rooms are gorgeous, and we liked where the hotel was. The down side to the location is finding the parking garage and when there is an event the traffic is horrid. The Yellow Umbrellas next door made it easy to find once we knew where it was at.

Best part of the hotel is the big (>600 sq ft) rooms with nice bathrooms. Great for us with a baby. They also provided a pack n play. We did a couple free activities, yoga and lei making, which were fun. Hotel is walking distance (<10 minutes) to Waikiki Beach and the even better Fort Derussy Beach. It's also right next to lots of shopping, some convenient and reasonably priced food (Subway, Starbucks), a Gelato place, plus some nice restaurants (Castro's breakfast and lunch, plus a couple American restaurants we didn't try). Most anything on the to-do list for Waikiki is within walking distance. Rental cars are expensive, and no free parking according to Priceline so we used Lyft/Uber during our trip. Rides to the airport can be over $100 in the afternoon, though, so be flexible.

It grew on us! The staff was very nice. The rooms were fairly well equipped. We had a leaking coffee maker, but, the staff fixed it for us immediately. The resort is NOT on the beach... it's a bit loud as it is located on the main drag through honolulu in the mall district. Otherwise, it's very nice. Oh... parking is VERY expensive.

The Hokulani is the perfect place to stay in Waikiki. Walking distance to everywhere in the area is a plus because its basically right in the heart of Waikiki. The convenience of a beautiful kitchen, a huge bathroom with a TV built into the mirror, huge shower and a tub with the water flowing from the ceiling is so awesome. A living room area with a sofabed also makes a stay at the Hokulani so comfortable. The valet service is great. The crew working valet are fast and super nice to be greeted to in the morning as well as in the evening. The front desk employees are also so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place to stay.

My family will give the hotel a 10 not only because of its location and the cleanliness of the rooms, but also because we were impressed by the thoughtful customer care. I found their response to problems to be excellent. We also stayed at the Grand Islander, and I don't think we will stay anywhere else in Hawaii but the Hokulani. Those wonderful staff led by Tomoko the manager are awesome. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

This was hands down one of the best hotels i ever stayed. The location is amazing, the staff is beyond stellar, the rooms are super clean, super contemporary and luxurious. Parking is$30/day which is very reasonable given you are in the heart of Waikiki. The only small downside is that I wish they had a real full size swimming pool. If I come to Oahu again I will for sure stay here.

I was looking forward to this hotel, but it did not meet my expectations. On check in we were told we were given another room with ''a nicer view''. But not once was it mentioned that it's a wheelchair accessible room and bathroom. So it felt like, they needed to change our reserved room, as they may have been overbooked in our room category. When it's a wheelchair access room, it should be mentioned on check in. Second thing we were told on check in is that the pool is closed Monday-Friday currently. This information could have been emailed to us in advance, but they didn't, so people don't cancel their stay. The neighboring hotel room had their volume up in the TV in the mirror in the bathroom. So extreme that we couldn't sleep and could hear every word they said on TV next door. I gave the hotel 3 stars for its location and comfortable bed and the staff at the Valet parking service were really lovely!! They always took time for a quick chat even though they were busy and they were all very friendly.

CONSTANT screaming and bass heavy music till 1am (or later) from a rooftop club/restaurant across the street and up the road 2 buildings. The frequency would be comical if it wasn’t so often and late into the night. Can’t even enjoy a movie at the end of the day. Goes till 1am or later on Friday and Saturday. Starts on Sunday at 12pm. If your room is facing East you will suffer the consequences. This hotel in particular is nice, hence the 4 stars… but wow. Don’t expect to get to sleep early if you are a medium-light sleeper. I would imagine that all the hotels in the area have to deal with this, but it is beyond obnoxious. That being said, this hotel has a fantastic Italian restaurant and a nice rooftop bar and pool.

This hotel really has the best staff I've seen, however here are a few things they don't tell you on their website about this hotel: 1. The floor to ceiling height in this hotel is REALLY low. It's probably around 6'6" in the bathroom and 7' to 7'6" everywhere else, including the corridors. That's just below average and bizarre for a hotel at this price. What make it worse is that the hotel rooms floor area are bigger than average, which makes the low ceiling height even more oblivious. If you are a tall family you might feel cramped in there. 2. Half of the hotel rooms face the back wall of another building. It's a shame because these rooms are equipped with pretty expansive windows. 3. Paired with #2 this is a deal breaker, the hotel is not connected to the Hilton Honors App so you cannot choose your room location on the App. So it's possible you will end up having to stare at a blank wall from your hotel room during your stay at the heart of Waikiki.

Twenty four hour valet parking was located in the basement of the building. Key access is needed to access other floors on the elevator and is a great security feature. The hotel is located perfectly in waikiki. Great restaurants on the block. The Sitting Pool and hot tub is on the 16th floor and it has a great view of the city and ocean. There is a pool bar with cabanas. The hotel hosted a couple of movie nights, yoga classes and Lei making class during our stay. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge helped book Us four excursions; this made our lives so much easier.

Rooms were spacious, clean, and elegant. I love that they had a laundry room and you didn’t need coins. The valet parking was easy and convenient. I also love that they were located near the malls and eateries which made it easy to go grab food and snacks at the ABC stores. Customer service was A1!

Absolutely an Amazing Experience with both staff and hotel! As soon as we walked arrived, we were greeted with a friendly face and our luggage was brought to the main lobby. Check in was so smooth. All staff were so accommodating and friendly, made us feel at home for our entire stay. Beautifully clean rooms. The pool and bar were amazing! Walking distance to everything and super close to the beach. Seriously, had the best time. Photos do not do it justice but I will post them below! Will definitely recommend staying here and we will be returning.

Friendly staff. Helpful valet staff. Rooms were big enough for a family of 6. Beds comfortable. Located in the business/entertainment center of Waikiki. 5 minutes walk to the beach. Cab and rideshare easy to get not that expensive. Overall nice place for family and night life for adults. There is construction going on. Disappointed with the pool. They can do better compared to other properties.

Outstanding location and a short walk to the beach. The king suites are huge, clean and modern. Housekeeping was great, there wasn't so much as a spec of dust to be found. There was construction that would cause noise in the room we reserved on the third floor so we were offered an accessible room on the 10th floor. This was an upgrade with the view alone, but the huge shower was another plus. There is even a TV in the bathroom mirror! The room had a HUGE double slider and a small balcony that when open was like being outside. The rooftop bar and cabanas were a huge plus. The bartender was very friendly and provided some great local recommendations. One minor inconvenience was the in room TV. The software/ smart TV device they are using was slow and unresponsive. It would be nice to have a standard smart TV interface that you could login to from your phone/laptop. This was a super minor inconvenience since we hardly used the TV.

Very nice hotel/timeshare! Short walk from the beach, plenty of nearby shops and restaurants. Room was clean and the bathtub was great!

Many high-end stores and eateries are within walking distance. The room was well thought out, spacious, and clean set in urban Honolulu. We would stay there again.

We gave the Hokulani a four star instead of a five star comparing to other Hilton GVCs but it would have been a 5 star compared to other resorts without beach or ocean frontage. Most rooms have a view of the street with ocean view available on the rooftop terrace. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen area is limited to a half size refrigerator and separate freezer. Ours would not keep ice cream solid (always soft serve) but other items and meats were frozen just fine. There was plenty of ice in the ice maker and gallon size containers fit just fine in the refrigerator. There is only a two burner electric stovetop and a single sink but the counter top came complete with a instant hot faucet for tea and hot drinks besides a coffee brew station. Rooms tend to be too cold and A/C only turns up to 80 degree F. (Felt like 70 unless you open the sliding door to the balcony which turns off the A/C automatically) partial wall separates the bedroom from the main area with sliding doors to complete the privacy. Bathroom was large (15X12) with a glass door shower separate from the free standing soaker tub. Large vanity area with built-in TV screen in the mirror. Separate closet toilet came complete with a bidet. Bathroom ceiling is under 7 foot high so not recommended for a pro basketball player. Other ceilings are around 7 1/2 ft high. Despite the height I never heard a sound from any other adjacent room in any direction. There are no BBQs on the property so don’t bring your steaks. This was my second stay here and I would come back without hesitation. Accommodation rate depends on how you are associated. We were here as Club members and used points with only the room taxes to pay at check-in. You should be prepared to pay a daily rate of $450-500 for 1 bedroom suite with kitchenette. Parking is $40/day, but who needs a car in Waikiki.

Rooms are nice. Unfortunately faced a argumentative and condescending agent at front desk. Just feels uncomfortable. Best thing would be to avoid speaking to front desk. Location is in a fancy tourist area with many high end shops and dining.

Beware this hotel faces a wall, and it’s extremely noisy wall with some sort of vents coming out that run all day and night. The balcony has no chairs and no room for chairs. It’s too small to sit out on. Embassy next door or Wyndham and imperial across the street are far superior to the hokulani

The Hokulani is a great location and I would recommend it to those traveling and want a more urban stay. The bathroom itself was beautiful and spacious. The staff was friendly and responsive. You’re right in the midst of the beach, food and shopping, and a quick trip for different excursions around the island.

Great accommodations! The concierge staff was fantastic, helpful, polite, and readily available at all hours. The hotel valet parking was super easy and the staff were prompt to get the vehicle ready at a moment's notice. Centrally located in Waikiki, one only need walk outside for restaurants, shopping, beach access, etc. Free laundry services on your own floor. We will definitely be back!

Excellent hotel. Such helpful warm friendly staff. We’ve stayed here numerous times and always come back. We are a family of 3 and my son has the comfortable sofa bed while my mum and I have two twin double beds. Rooms are so spacious and bathrooms are excellent configuration as it’s so big, double sink and separate door to the wonderful Toto bidet toilet! Separate big bathtub, two person shower. Three TVs in the room. Then a great kitchen where you can prepare a light meal if you don’t feel like eating out, complete with 2 burner cooktop, decent sized fridge, cutlery and even a dishwasher. Laundry on the floor also which is free of charge. Ideal location and close to everything on Lewers Street. Not noisy either. We will always come back here!! Thank you Josh and your wonderful staff for always making our holidays back to Oahu so memorable!

Fantastic hotel! Exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Despite being in the center of the busy downtown Waikiki shopping area, it was also very quiet. While not on the beach, it's a short walk. The entire staff is amazing - so friendly and helpful. The only shortcoming in my opinion is that one side of the building has views of the side of a building. If you are looking for a nice view and a lanai, this is not your hotel. But in every other way, it is great. We loved our stay here!

  • 5/5 Tina J. 1 year ago on Google
Beautifully designed, boutique accommodations, and well appointed. I loved being able to indulge my guilty pleasure of a nice soak in the tub, and this was one of the best! Roomy, great access to all Waikiki. Service/staff demonstrated true aloha. Rooms don't have great views, but who really needs to stay in a room except for sleeping, soaking, or warming up some leftovers from one in the multitude of restaurants nearby.

You will never go wrong with this hotel - the quality of the rooms, attention to detail as to how the rooms have been designed is outstanding. The location is fantastic - walk away from so many food places, the Royal Hawaiian center and the beach. extremely satisfying experience

Had a very comfortable stay here and its surrounded by great shops and restaurants the costumer service is absolutely amazing here. the rooms are very clean and spacious and we had a nice view on the 14th floor of the city and the ocean. you also get two free bottles of water everyday just go down to the front desk and ask for them. i definitely would come back to Hawaii and stay here again.

Location is perfect. In Waikiki proper but location feels private. Room exceeded our expectations, with a small two-burner cooktop, dishwasher, soaking tub, private balcony, and loads of space with a TV in each room. Modern, clean, and comfortable. Staff super friendly. Hilton does great job taking COVID seriously and keeping things clean and people safe. Thank you.

Great place on the main street in Waikiki, located next to all the shops, bars, beaches, and restaurants. Friendly staff, especially the valets in the parking garage. My only complaint is upon check in, no one told us the hotel rents beach chairs to their guests to use during their stay. Would have been helpful to know this when we check in. Had to learn this from a friendly couple we met at the beach. Also no told us there are umbrellas the hotel provides to their guests on rainy days. Again why the mystery and lack of communication. Do better!!!

We love staying at the Hokulani on Lewers St. It is smaller property where the guests get to know the employees and are welcomed back. The service is great and the location right in the heart of Waikiki perfect for a big city get-away. We look forward to each visit in our home away from home!
