NEWS:
This
hostel
is
currently
closed
due
to
the
COVID-19
pandemic.
It
is
not
known
when
or
if
it
will
reopen.
Instead,
check
nearby
the
Polynesian
Hostel
on
Lemon
Rd
or
The
Beach
Waikiki
Boutique
Hostel
at
2569
Cartwright
Rd.
At
currently
$33
per
night,
HI
Honolulu
is
actually
the
cheapest
bed
you
can
find
in
Honolulu
these
days.
Cheapness
comes
with
its
costs,
however.
The
hostel
is
very
strict
about
outsiders
coming
in.
You
can
be
kicked
out
for
letting
a
non-guest
into
the
hostel
without
asking
first.
There
is
absolutely
no
tobacco
or
alcohol
allowed
on
the
premises.
If
you
lose
the
key,
it
will
cost
$250
as
a
penalty
and
replacement.
That
being
said,
it
has
a
great
location
in
the
heart
of
Waikiki
and
there
is
the
downtown
branch
of
Alamo
rental
cars
very
near,
as
well
as
a
grocery
store
just
a
few
blocks
away
on
Kūhiō.
It
has
a
well-equipped
kitchen
and
a
modestly
large
dining
/
relaxation
area
with
TV,
book
corner,
and
restroom.
The
owner
also
acts
as
manager
and
handyman,
although
there
are
a
few
reception
staffers
who
rotate
duty.
The
rooms
are
fairly
standard;
there
are
very
small
lockers
in
the
rooms,
but
you
must
have
your
own
padlock.
The
bathroom
was
very
clean
and
they
strive
to
keep
them
that
way,
enlisting
the
guests
to
do
their
part.
They
provide
a
bath
towel
upon
arrival,
but
the
bunk
bed
is
already
made
when
you
arrive
—
a
nice
little
touch.
They
also
can
loan
you
beach
towels
and
beach
accessories.
Overall,
it
was
a
nice
place
With
a
good
price,
although
I
had
a
street-facing
room
and
Honolulu
can
be
very
noisy
at
all
times
of
day
and
night.
They
also
have
a
second
hostel
near
the
University
of
Hawaii
Manoa
campus,
which
should
be
much
quieter.
