Despite of the mixed reviews, we decided to go anyways. Our very first meal in Hawaii. Yet we weren’t satisfied with the quality. The staff were nice, the wine portions were on the generous side .. but food!!!!! We didn’t think it was great for the price. Not bad but more so, over priced. Not sure if we will visit again. For two people, it turned out to be around $130. We didn’t order much as we are small eaters. It was nice of them to serve a free dessert with a message written in chocolate. Creme brûlée was a little bit heavy on the taste as we prefer the light and fluffy kind. Also I wish it’d be nice if they had served food on the nicer dishes. Our dishes were quite worn out.

This was by far the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. I can tell chef Roy spent a lot of time training his brigade to cook such a high calibur of food. Me and my wife decided to do the three course meal, and everything was outstanding. I highly recommend making reservations as early as possible if you're able to make them before going to Waikiki for a family trip or visiting from another country. You will not want to miss out eating here. The staff was phenomenal, atmosphere was incredible. Next time we come to Hawaii this is going to be our first thing to plan. 11/10 highly recommend ❤️

I've had great fish at a lot of fancy restaurants, but I've never had fish like this. The hibachi salmon and the macadamia nut crusted Hawaiian fish were absolutely unreal. Forever changed the way I think about fish as a meal. Lots of fancy restaurants, the food scales up, but the service stays average. Not so, here. The service was every bit as incredible as the food. It was formal and yet welcoming. Highly professional, but also warm. Very impressive! Atmosphere was upscale, but there were still plenty of muted Hawaiian shirts and tan cargo shorts. Highly recommend going here!

Shared a great meal with friends. Still as good as ever. Not many places have a delicious variety of dishes and specialty items. We had seafood, beef, pork, duck, salads and more to please our palettes.

I think if you want the ambience and a good first impression with a date without getting full from eating, then this is your place. Otherwise, it’s not really all that. The prawns were overcooked, the chocolate soufflé is not a soufflé - sorry, the steak was tasty and yet the sides were not enough. Their fish, however, is on point. Overall, I would recommend it if you have a date. If you have a family, maybe.

Food was absolutely amazing. First time in a long time where drink, appetizers, entrees and dessert all were great. GET THE BABY BACK RIBS APPETIZER. YOU WILL LOVE IT! The servers were very hospitable. Very attentive and knowledgeable.

Would definitely recommend the garlic butter prawns & crab dumplings, as well as the frying dragon roll. Sauces on both dishes were so good that we cleaned the plates. Definitely come hungry because American portions make it harder to try everything and still walk home, plus the cocktails are quite strong 😝

There are a number of Roy’s restaurants but this is the one to visit. Specifically choose a seat at the outside bar. Great service, atmosphere, and the whole menu is available. There are a number of great items on the menu but you have to try the baby back pork ribs on the appetizer menu and the frying dragon roll. I wouldn’t call it traditional sushi but it’s addictive. Butter fish and a wonderful selection of sauces. We literally order two of each and that’s dinner. Also don’t skip a good rum and fresh pineapple cocktail!

Absolutely wonderful meal from start to finish, great flavors and technique in every dish. The crispy zucchini bao buns were packed with texture, with pickled relish for acid and XO sauce for rich umami flavor. Both my butterfish and my wife's ribeye were immaculately cooked. The wasabi buerre blanc with the fish was spectacular, as was the Thai steak sauce on the beef. For dessert, we had pineapple upside-down cake. The combination of warm pineapple and caramel rum sauce with cold vanilla ice cream was a perfect ending to an amazing meal.

Staying at the Outrigger Reef Resort, Roy’s was close by. Was looking to try Hawaiian cuisine instead of American food that we normally eat in NY. It is very pricey and the food was good. It isn’t great that I would be dying to go have it again. The service was phenomenal though although I must add, there were only maybe 4 tables within the restaurant. I guess they require reservations but the restaurant was able to accommodate us without a reservation. There isn’t much of a selection in food in my opinion so I asked for recommendations from our server. He didn’t steer us wrong. I think the best thing I liked were the edamames - slightly spicy on the shell but a good snack. The children’s ribs were great! The meat just cut up very easily. The local catch was swordfish the day I went to eat. It was bland but went well with the scampi. The upside pineapple cake was good, but I didn’t know whether it was because I ate the lava cake first, which was sweet, followed by the pineapple that made it sour but I wasn’t a fan of the pineapple. If you do opt to get both, try the pineapple first before diving into another sweet treat. Otherwise, great dinner for a final night in Hawaii.

Best sushi rolls I've ever had, and I eat a *ton* of sushi. Very reasonably priced for the quality and service. Friendly staff with good recommendations. After a run of horrible food on Oahu even from "5 star" restaurants, Roy's singlehandedly redeemed the island's culinary abilities.

Roy's Waikiki is an amazing restaurant! This was our first visit to Roy's Waikiki; we've been visiting Waikiki for over 30 years. Our so encouraged us to visit Roy's Waikiki with him on this trip. Oh my, I can't even imagine a better dining experience. The restaurant is staffed with professional and friendly staff attending to our every need. The menu is robust; there is truly something for everyone. Expect to spend about 2 hours for dinner. The service was great; our entrées were prepared and served to perfection. Our beverages were top shelf! Do yourself a favor and give Roy's Waikiki a try; you will not be disappointed! Beautiful restaurant right at the corner of Seaside. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. They use nothing but fresh ingredients. The Butterfish was amazing along with the rest of the dishes. Service was top notch and the ambiance is second to none.

Top notch restaurant! If you want an upscale dining experience in Waikiki, this is the place for you. The amazing food is topped still by the impeccable service. We had multiple people caring for our table at all times to ensure glasses were always topped off, dirty dishes were cleared and if you left the table for any reason, you'd come back to your napkin folded on the table! Incredible, we'll be back

Great service! Friendly staff. The food tasted excellent. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten sensitivity. Many dishes could be made gluten free. On the expensive side. Service was so fast. We were acknowledged for our 25th wedding anniversary by the hostess, the servers, and the food runners.

I’m visiting Hawaii with my family and this wasn’t a typical place we would pick to eat but definitely a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing not only in taste but presentation as well. The portions size was not skimpy at all. The service not only is friendly and attentive but also knowledgeable about the menu, you can tell they have pride in what they do. I ordered the tiger shrimp with crab ravioli and I finished the whole plate it was so flavorful and moist, not to mention the biggest shrimp I’ve ever eaten in my life and the garlic parmesan sauce is the perfect combination. Others at my table ordered the ribs and finished the whole dish as well as the sampler all were very pleased. And for those who enjoy fish the snapper comes WHOLE head and tail attached and cooked to perfection. I definitely would recommend and plan on coming back for another meal.

I will start saying that I’m not a big fan of fancy food, so you shouldn’t consider this review if you like a good “quality” meal. That being said, I’ve ordered the short rib, which was pricy but tasty…what I don’t like is that I cannot choose the sides, and as much as there was a good portion of food, the sides weren’t enough. One thing that I’ve loved was the fact that my water glass was NEVER empty, there was someone filling out every 5 minutes. One thing I didn’t liked it at all, was the bathroom, very dirty for a nice restaurant. In the other hand my husband ordered the sushi and he absolutely loved it, he said was one of the bests he ever had I’m sure if was for him he would give 5 stars…but it’s my review, so for stars for me!!!

This place was superb. The portions are generous and the unique flavors and savory combinations were so thrilling to eat that it felt like a true culinary journey. My husband and I came here two nights in a row because we loved it so much. Not only was the food spectacular, the entire staff was also warm and inviting. Special shout out to our waiter Maike, who treated us like family both nights. Thank you!

Roy's Waikiki has been a well known establishment and after visiting this restaurant, I can see why. The service at this restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and quick to assist you. The food was great, with a wide variety of dishes. I had the pre-fix and that was a great option to have a little bit of everything. Overall, I recommend this restaurant for anyone staying in Honolulu.

My family had a wonderful time. Definitely made our last night in Hawaii more memorable. I’m so glad I took my parents here. We did the prifix 3 course meal and the portions were perfect, we were so stuffed by the end. And the wine parings were well done. Presentations and taste were both great. Wasn’t crazy about the appetizers but the main and the wine pairings made up for it. The waiters were fantastic they were super courteous but very pleasant and friendly. Would love to come back when I get a chance to visit Hawaii again, thank you for making our night 🤙

Great experience from start to finish! We sat outside and it was great people watching. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. Special recognition to the ahi poke (best we’ve ever had) and the chocolate cake dessert! Would recommend to anyone staying in Waikiki.

Roy's presents a fairly consistent experience across the various locations where I've eaten, including California and Hawaii. It is upscale with prices to match, but the food generally matches the prices. Plan to spend $50-100 per person for normal plates and minimal drinks. Foods and flavors are quite rich, including the pineapple upside down cake which was pretty tasty.

Everything was super tasty 😋. Butterfish was yummy, sample appetizers were extremely tasty. Loved my Mango cocktail.

Excellent date night! We tried a little bit of everything. Highly recommend the macadamia nut crusted fish and pineapple upside down cake.

Idk what all the raving reviews are about. Most of the food is good, some of it great (e.g the 3 fish appetizer) but dishes are very small and overpriced, and the 16oz ribeye definitley isn't 16oz, and wasn't that good (middle was great but outer was chewy). For almost $78 I'd expect MUCH better steak! Service was also painfully slow, but that could be due to covid

We were personally not impressed by the food. The smell of cooked food in the restaurant was overwhelming during the entire dinner and the food for both of us seemed "not made with love". My husband's short braised beef was too salty and we mentioned that and the waiter just looked at us. We realized after ordering that the restaurant is a chain and it made all sense.

It was really good. Definitely a place you should visit for date night with your love one. It has intimate vibe to it and the food is awesome

Roy's had, without a doubt, the tastiest food I've had throughout my 3 weeks across several Hawaiian islands. My husband and I liked it so much the first time we just had to come back one more time before heading home! We made reservations both times and the second time we were able to be seated almost half an hour early. It's a bit expensive, but totally worth it. The ahi 20 roll is a must-try, it's now my favorite sushi roll. We're looking forward to coming back next time we're in Hawaii!

Roy’s is the most surprisingly awesome restaurant during our trip at Oahu. The $59 tasting menu was so delicious. And I think it’s portion would definitely feed one person, so we share it and order something else. We really enjoyed the ahi ( yellow fin tuna) in the appetizer and order another dish for it. The slow cooked beef in the main entry was also a good combination with its sauce. The two tropical fruit cocktails we ordered were also refreshing. What’s more it’s that the place is not very hard to reserve, the service was also very nice.

I got the 3 course set menu at Roy's. I had the best spring roll I think I’ve ever had, which was followed by a hearty ‘surf and turf’ featuring a crusted local mahi and a juicy braised short-rib on a bed of creamy orzo pasta.

Delicious dinner for our first night in Oahu! We did the prix fixe dinner, and I especially loved the mac nut crusted fish. So good!
