The presentation is nice, especially the “cinnamon roll,”. Although it didn’t taste like a cinnamon roll. Cute Purple Hearts and lots of frosting but not an ounce of cinnamon anywhere. The simple over easy egg that was ordered had a hard yolk and when it arrived at the table it was cold. Not sure if it was an “off day” in the kitchen. The pancakes were delicious. Although, I think the portions were small and the prices were high.

Thanks to their bigger new location, the wait time has been drastically reduced, thank goodness. The food is just as delicious as ever, with some new additions to the menu. Parking is available at the large paid lot behind the restaurant: note that the restaurant doesn’t validate and that the parking attendant only accept cash.

Koko head Cafe seems like the perfect destination after hiking koko head. Parking can be a challenge and I'd recommend just using the lot around the corner. The meters are all coin meters and who carries coins. The wait can be long here. I wanted to like it more than I did because the service and ambience were amazing. I found the food to be average. The billionaire bacon left much to be desired having had thicker cuts of millionaire and billionaire bacon in the south in the continental US. Very quaint and inviting atmosphere though.

This is the No.1 place on Oahu for Breakfast / Brunch I think we just found the best place to have breakfast / brunch on Oahu!! Koko Head Cafe is a local spot that has been business since 2014. The style of cooking here is something new called Pacific Rim: Korean, Japanese, Israeli, and Hawaiian combined. The portion are great and the service is even better. Trust me whenever you and your family visit Oahu you gotta check this place out you won’t be disappointed

This is a favorite place of mine. Start with a Queen’s mimosa. Bubbles, St Germain and guava purée are the perfect combo. Don’t even ask what the dumplings of the day are - just order them. They are ALWAYS spectacular. I fantasize about the Breakfast Bruschetta between visits so get that too, Now, you’re ready to order. Kitchen sink salad will make your meal feel super healthy. Don’t sit around and linger for long because I’m probably anxiously waiting outside.

Brunch is not to be missed. Get here early cause everyone wants to eat at this jewel. Chef Wong is a major player in the culinary world. Paid her dues in many top restaurants and was in Top Chef. But it’s the food that brings in the hordes of foodies. Pictured is the Ohayou eggs, hash browns and “Samoa” donut. Best breakfast ever.

Still after 8 years since we first experienced this place it is one of my favorite places to eat on the island. The flavors make sense and the quality food is always noticed and appreciated. Try just about anything on the menu and you will be happy but my favorites are ohayou egg skillet, volcano egg skillet, and the poke omelette. It is all ono and worth the visit.

Great food.. Great staff... Drinks were just okay.. I'll say pretty mild. Food was exceptional though. We tried pancakes, Bibimbap and couple of seafood entrees and everything was amazing.

Great restaurant with service to match. Please look at the menu. It is a fusion of different cultures. Very popular and busy so there will be a wait. They do have outside seating to help get more people in. Food was all very fresh and tasty. I really appreciate that they have acoustic panel's on the ceiling, helps with noise.

The theme of this restaurant is crunch. It was prominent and a welcomed addition to every dish we got. The daily dumplings was really a Mediterranean dish; it featured well seasoned meats in a crunchy fried wrapper to be mixed with tzatziki yogurt sauce, topped with lightly pickled cucumbers. The fusion came very well together. The koko moco was also crunchy from the scorched rice on the sides of the pan. The whole spectrum of texture for rice from soft and sticky to crunchy was exhibited in the bed of rice. The burger patty was thick; though it could’ve been less cooked. Fried onions and spring onions were both nice touches. The French toast was very unique; it featured an outer layer of cornflakes that felt deep fried, but the inside was so soft and fluffy. It came with a gravy syrup (a delicious and unique invention), some maple glazed bacon, and ice cream. The dish walked a fine line between umami and sweet, but it nailed it. I enjoyed every bite.

We're big fans of LeAnn Wong (my apologies for any misspellings) from watching her on Top Chef - we were so glad this eatery was still operating by the time we got to Hawaii. Let me just say there was no disappointment - food, drinks, service were all excellent. The Strawberry Hula drink my wife got - I would have ordered a pitcher of that particular libation if we could have. I really liked the Koko Moco, my wife really liked the Breakfast Bibimbap, and the Greatest Hash Browns were great too. Cudos to our server, Maddy 'Mad Dog' - she was wonderful and I really liked her personality even though we only interacted for a short time. Also - gave the Kitchen People some direct love - threw $5 in their 'Beer Fund' jar and they rang their bell and celebrated enthusiastically! This place I thought just had soul - good food and a great team from the door to the kitchen. Thank you, Ms. Wong!

It moved! Well I found out it moved awhile ago. The location used to be Victoria Inn where my grandpa and I used to have breakfast in 1970/80s. (Happy times). You can still get breakfast/brunch here. Opted in for the Kim chee/bacon scone of the day (very good). I ordered the “market price” fish and eggs (miso ono) with sautéed water spinach, soft scrambled eggs and pickles in a cast iron skillet that yielded some crackle rice. (Description was 5 stars, real dish was 3.5 because of dry ono and not much crackle rice) Hubby ordered the “kalua pork” omelette which resembled kalua pork meeting a French onion soup. Very tasty (5 stars). We sat outside and our server Lacey was very sweet and attentive.

Yes, there will probably be a wait. Recommend that you get on the waitlist before arriving. Worth the wait. Food is really good, with interesting spins on familiar dishes. There were more things I wanted to try than I could eat.

The food is always amazing. But what really makes this place is the service. Everyone is so friendly and the kitchen staff is has fun. When you tip the kitchen, they all shout out and cheer for the beer money. It makes for a great dining experience. I would suggest coming in early or there will be a a bit of a wait for a table. We always go at opening, make an early breakfast day.

Great food and service. Boozy brunch available inside but not on the patio. Excellent breakfast and lunch options, generous portions, friendly and attentive service. Went for my girlfriend’s birthday and it did not disappoint. Seems like the regular menu is a bit tighter than the specials. I got the congee and it was a bit different than I’m used to in terms of toppings but very high quality, super savory and filling. She got the chicken and eggs skillet and very much enjoyed it.

Stunning plating (you can never go wrong with personal cast irons). The food has string flavors but was definitely heavy. I personally really liked the koko moko’s gravy and patty, but the tempura kimchi on the plate may have been more of a fancy sell item and didn’t have much purpose. The other dishes were tasty as well; ohayou eggs had a unique creamy flavor.

Great food! Super tasty and quality ingredients at a reasonable price. The staff were all very friendly and the service was great. Solid drinks menu for that mid-day brunch and I highly recommend the Elvis's Revenge sando.

This was my favorite restaurant that I went to on Oahu! Our waiter was excellent! He was super funny and great suggestions, as we took all of them and each one hit. We got the cucumber lemonade, pickled veggies, a side of their hashbrowns, and I got the Koko Moco. The Koko Moco was insane! It had super crispy garlic rice, a delicious wagyu patty, a beautiful running egg, and tempura fried kimchi. This meal was fantastic!

I absolutely love this place! I had not been to the new location and decided to treat my team to a lovely brunch, and we were all so so pleased. Though reservations are not accepted, the wait list for the-day-of is wonderful. I suggest checking the waiting list with plenty of time ahead of your desired arrival. We waited about an hr and a half and the staff was so pleasant from the start. The host continuously came out to let us know the status of our table, and that was above and beyond. Our group was made of 5, and we were seated in a booth that wasn't huge, but it was very comfortable. I announced to our waiter, while ordering, that we had a birthday coming up, and she, very discreetly, repeated what the bday lady had ordered. To all of our surprise, her brunch dish came with a candle, and we were able to sing to her. All combined, we had the fruit plate (deliciously packed with not so common fruits), the cornflake French toast, chiky and eggs, koko moco, Volcano eggs, luau & eggs coffee, and ginger lime sparkler (great non-alcoholic option). The quality of everything we consumed was so lovely , we were all in between feeling very satisfied and wanting to order more! Very affordable for the quality (~$250 for 5 and we got 3 dishes to go!) We are looking forward to our next Koko Head Cafe outing!

You can either be greatly pleased or highly disappointed. It all depends on what you order. Thankfully, I absolutely loved my fish & eggs breakfast skillet. My friend who ordered the breakfast bibimbap, not so much (as a Korean, didn’t seem very special). Volcano eggs were also bomb. Heard breakfast congee here is amazing. It’s all kind of pricey, but like I said, if you order right, it’s worth it.

It just wasn’t what I expected especially after the good reviews. Didn’t wow me at all. I also understand how Covid has impacted small businesses but a 5% service charge for their kitchen staff is a little crazy on top of tipping. We are supporting your business by spending $100 on brunch. Patrons shouldn’t be responsible for paying your staff.

Prepare for divergence from the norm here. This place is massively OVERHYPED and may have given me minor food poisoning. The eggs were undercooked and bland, the price to value ratio was way off, and the overall quality of table, chair, water glass, plate… it all felt so 1990s cafeteria… I just don’t understand how this place is so popular! There are way better restaurants even within walking distance so skip the wait and go there instead. I think a few stand out dishes that we accidentally missed might distract you from the overall lack of quality on the main staples, but by all means you don’t have to eat here to prove me wrong. They’re truly suffering from too much success and it was very weird. We waited a half hour to sit when there were clearly plenty of open tables and staff just milling around. The decor was fine overall, nothing special. But we came for food, we could look by the rest if the food was amazing. It’s just… not. It’s quite mediocre and cooked/served without any real care or passion at this point. I’m guessing it used to be better and that’s where the hype came from? If you want great brunch, check out Farmhouse cafe, or my god take the trip 20 mins into the city proper and hit up Podmore; they’re legendary and the same price! It’s like 10x better food. Just my two cents.

The Koko Head cafe has great food! The dumplings all day wong are great starter and change daily. The gnocchi with fish was excellent. I was really impressed by the drinks and the pastry's! The cinnamon roll was the best I've ever tasted and the crème puff was decadent and yummy! The cooking staff really loves their art and it shows! I wanted to try the whole menu, but I'll have to wait until next time!

My first visit here was by chance in 2014. I ordered off the special menu, a beef tongue Okinawa soba, and Foie grams toast. Amazing. I have visited few times after that to try out other regular menu items.

Did was fantastic and the only reason not a five star.. And it's not a bad thing... Just super busyv and the wait is long

  • 3/5 Brad J. 2 years ago on Google
Food was slightly above average with a pretty long wait. The picture was a bit better than the food. I’d say at the price range and the wait (after you sit, not even before) make the place around 3 stars. Waiter was nice.

Use the OpenTable wait-list so you don't have to sit around waiting for a table for an hour. The link is on their website. That being said, it would be worth the wait! We got the Koko Moco and the Breakfast Congee with a side of hash browns and everything was delicious! I get why this place is on all the lists for some of the best loco mocos on the island. It's served on a hot cast iron skillet and my only complaint is that I needed a bit more of that gravy to finish off the crispy rice at the bottom! The hash browns were deep fried, so not what we were expecting but still very good - crispy outside and soft fluffy middle. The Congee was both savory and sweet and very good.

This is a cool spot with kind of a diner feel to it. They have some great food options. The egg sandwich was fantastic, as was the cinnamon roll. The service was good and the staff was courteous. I'll definitely come back to try more.
