About a 30 min walk from Waikiki beach. You can get there by foot, it's very easy and plenty to see along the way. Due to COVID-19 you can't dine in, but you can take your food and eat it inside your car. The food is super delicious, i went back almost everyday during my stay for breakfast because it was super affordable, they pack so much food for one serving and the taste is unbelievable. Everyone working there was very nice and welcoming. I encourage you to go and try it. Better then so many other restaurants near by that will charge you more for less quality of food.

I've heard of the Rainbow Drive-ins back in the late 80s and lived it when we had it in 87. They have only gotten more popular since. Good inexpensive food. The meat options are excellent including ground beef patty, linguica, and my personal favorite, spam. Got to get some macaroni salad too.

This place is pretty cool nice vibes and great food! I had the traditional loco moco, and it was pretty delicious for a guy that's not a big fan of gravy. It all mixes well together. Two eggs, two balls of rice, two burger patties smothered with gravy and a side of macaroni salad. Definitely recommend trying this place! They also have a nice little gift shop.

Whoever created this dish is literally genius. Not going to lie, it looks quite unassuming but it is straight up delicious! Crispy fried egg with grilled burger patty on fluffy white rice smothered with aromatic gravy and a side of creamy macaroni salad. Sounds like some frankenfood but they go unbelievably well together!

Believe in the hype. The YouTube influencers are spot on. This place deserves to be on your Hawaii bucket list. You can’t go wrong with the mixed plate order. BIG tasty portions at a good price, about $10 to $15 per meal. Yum πŸ˜‹

Busy on a Tuesday afternoon but so delicious and not a very long wait. The mixed plate is fantastic - the beef and mac salad being the highlight. Ample seating with quite a few tables still blocked off.

This is a local favorite and must dine in restaurant if you love Loco Moco. My friends and I stopped by on a weekday and the line was really long. We ordered the Rainbow's mixed plate, Loco Moco plate, chopped steak, and BBQ Ahi. Wow portions here are huge. Between 2 people 1 plate should be enough. First off this Ahi tuna was probably the best I've ever had. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Fish was tender and really fresh. We loved the steak and the mixed plate had a lil bit of everything. The macaroni salad here is no joke. Between the 8 of us we finished all of our food including the sides. Prices here are reasonable and we definitely got our best bang for our buck. Even with the long lines we got our food under 10 minutes. They have outdoor seating and the tables were very clean. Parking here can be limited and be careful when you make the first right into the same street as we saw folks speeding through. This was a really fun breakfast/lunch spot. Highly recommend if you need to load up on carbs before the beach or a hike. Good hearty and savory Hawaiian food that will definitely fill you up. I'd recommend check their social media first to find out what specials they have during the week. Definitely don't want to miss the Ahi!

08/31/2022: First visit and I loved it! Wonderful spot frequented by both tourists and the locals. The food didn't disappoint. If you're looking for authentic Hawaiian plate lunch, go to Rainbow Drive-In! You get a hearty, tasty plate at a very reasonable price.

Legendary plate lunches at very affordable prices. Order ahead by calling or even better, order online at use the phone orders line. The normal lines can be 30+ min waits.

Inexpensive, tasty food at this iconic, Honolulu classic eatery. Definitely try the chili and the mix plate. Have a slush float as well πŸ˜‹. Good advice is to place an order through their website so you don't have to wait too long when arriving.

Really good local spot. It's not fancy at all but the food is very very good. There is ample parking πŸ…ΏοΈ there and they have picnic tables for you. Their are two lines to order. Their mixed grill is nice with fish 🐠 pork and beef. The fish was super nice and moist. The beef was greatest thing it was thinley sliced but not dry at all it was super moist and flavorful. The loco Moco is really good as well.

I really like their menu options! And decent prices, but certain dishes may seem a little under-seasoned. Not the best outdoor seating, but it's still a solid place! Try the ice cream slush it's yummy!

not healthy. at all. tried moco loco, which is rice with a hamburger, gravy, and a fried egg on top. it was heavy. I didn't like the gravy, it tasted fake. my hubby got chicken and it had a nice ginger sauce on it. we also tried the slushy float, which was shaved ice with strawberry syrup, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I thought the slushy float was nasty (but I think anything with red dye, corn syrup and artificial flavor is nasty so that's just me.) it was also weird to me to mix ice with cream. they said there was salad on the plate, so I got that instead of a smaller bowl. turns out the salad was some nasty mayonnaise covered macaroni. definitely not green and definitely not healthy. I felt really full and disgusting after, I would not go back-- but the ambiance was really fun and retro and I like the drive-in vibe of the place. for that reason I'm glad we went, but the food was not nutritious or satisfying.
