Great location and very functional and affordable. There is no cleaning service with this hotel and you visit the office for additional amenities like shampoo or to change out towels, etc. Nice little kitchenette that was very much as advertised. Loved the view from the 10th floor shared balcony and overall well worth the price.

If you're expecting a resort, that's not here. However, I would happily stay again! While the place is kinda outdated, our room served it's purpose well! The room didn't use a card key either, it was a code lock which was awesome. As two girls in their 20s we also never felt our safety at risk here. The location was perfect for us as Waikiki beach is right down the street and everything was pretty much walking distance. We checked out Hula's on the second floor to use our drink ticket we received at check in and had a blast there! (Plus it was super convenient just hopping in the elevator back to our room after a night of drinks.) Every staff member at the front desk that we talked with was helpful and kind, from check in until check out! I was nervous at first because I booked at a great price for the whole week, but I had a great experience! Make sure to check out the rooftop for some sunset and evening views!

The worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Staying here was like paying someone to give me chores. I had to change rooms on arrival, because of pillows that still smelled like a prior guest’s hair (519), I was sent to a room that was already occupied (900), then another one that smelled like cigarette smoke (a green room on floor 4), and then finally to a room where I was horribly bitten by bugs (518). The next night I was moved back to 519 and thankfully the bed had been changed, but I had to spend several hours of my trip going through all my luggage and disinfecting everything. The bites all over my hands and feet were very uncomfortable when I was trying to walk or grab things for at least 3 days. I asked for a refund for my stay, but the staff told me they needed to have someone inspect the room before they could confirm any refund. I felt like this was a deflection, because I had no bites when I went to bed on Wednesday, 9/27 and woke up 8 hours later covered. I hadn’t been anywhere other than the room where I could have gotten those bites. I tried being patient to wait for a resolution, but after a full week and an ignored email from the manager Ronald Sugihara. I had to reach back out to threaten this bad review and disputing my room charges and within 5 minutes Ronald responded refusing to accept liability for the hotel’s infestation and no apologies for other uncomfortable aspects of the stay or cleanliness. This hotel is awful while still charging similar prices to better hotels nearby, such as the Aston Waikiki or the White Sands. It’s disgusting how they operate. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The rooms are so so. They don't do room cleaning unless you pay for it, however you can exchange towels and such at the front desk. The staff is great and very helpful. The location is at the far end of Waikiki, really good for families (proximity to zoo/beach/aquarium) If you're looking for night life, most of it will be a half mile walk, doable but there are better places to stay for that. The assigned parking is nice if want to pay for it.

Had a wonderful one week stay in a great suite that had been updated in recent years. Although no daily housekeeping service available, the front desk always had towels to pick up. Love the location and staff!

I stayed here through an Airbnb rental in September. Overall good experience. Roxy at the front desk is so genuine and kind. Upon arriving we got a free drink coupon which was an added bonus. The room itself was pretty small for the price. They have paid covered parking for about 25$ a day which I recommend so you don't have to deal with crazy Waikiki parking. There is a rooftop terrace that offers GREAT views of diamond head and the ocean. This place is great on a budget!

Not only is this place in an excellent spot, but their staff were clearly doing their best to make us happy. The rooms are privately owned and managed by the hotel, asomewhat humble and dated, but that's part of the charm. The location couldn't be better! It's also a gay friendly place to stay, to boot - visiting Hulas, (one of the more prominent gay bars on waikiki, i understand) on floor 2 for a few fruity beverages and rolling back into our room was a true delight.

I have stayed here a couple times, but not on this last trip... The best reason to stay here is the location. On the far end of Waikiki, it's quieter and better access to the stuff I want to do. I like that it's so close to the beach, the zoo, and my favorite places to eat. Not the fanciest of rooms, but I only need a place to shower and sleep. Really like the staff... They are always friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel. I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and the view of Waikiki was great. Amazing location too for the price. ABC store is within 50 yards of the hotel entrance. Kalãkaua is right around the block, And parking across the street at the zoo is relatively cheap too. Definitely recommend staying here for your next visit

I have not stayed in this hotel. However, I have been several times to the club Hula's which is located on the second floor of this hotel. The lobby is always clean, the clerks are always friendly and speak when you come into the building. On valentines day they had cookies and chocolates out for people coming into the building and of course the location of this hotel is amazing, across the street from the beach, zoo night life and public transportation. Just my experience coming in and interactingwith staff, I would stay a night here abs see how the rooms are.

I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Completely ruined my vacation here. To start off and clarify, I booked through Castle Resorts there are some vendor responses here that point that out in reviews, it's the same hotel. You get what you pay for, the bed gave me horrible back pain. The curtains had black mold, there were yellow stains all over the walls and the mini fridge corner smelled of a combination of mildew and sewage. The sliding door did not close all of the way and the room smelled of cigarettes from outside late at night. There were no blackout curtains and the lights outside fully illuminated the room at night. I had to cancel my stay due to the substandard conditions. I contacted the company multiple times to be refunded for the time I didn't stay with no response or receiving the run around. Please consider paying more for a different hotel, it's not worth the discount here.

Okay stay. Booked the room directly and not owner owned room. The bed was old and squeaky! The room was so tiny with a big column blocking the bedroom! The AC was loud! Overall stay was a disaster! I would not stay at that hotel room ever!

Great location. Rooms are adequate. Prices are fair compared to other hotels. Low key spot to stay. Worth it if you have to be in the area.

For a vacation rental it's a great place. I'm sure it was the pinnacle of Waikiki luxury back in 1978 but, it holds up very well. The condos are in great shape and clean. The staff is awesome.

Excellent location on the east end of Waikiki. Very quiet, except for the A/C, which was really loud. The room was well appointed and the small refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. The staff is extremely friendly and had good recommendations for several places to eat. The rooftop deck has an amazing view and was a great place to sit with a book in the shade during the heat of the afternoon.

Great location at one end of the beach and only one minute walk, Nice lobby, friendly front desk, laundry on site, a restaurant inside, and affordable parking. Would definitely stay here again. Nothing overly fancy but for the location and price you really can't beat it! I would say it can be a bit loud in the morning but that was from neighbors and trash removal, nothing the hotel could really do about that.

Location is great! Not enough parking. Room was very dirty feeling. Mold in the AC I didn’t notice until the third night. Mattress base had a stain so did blanket, dishes needed to be cleaned, shelf was chipping and also stained. Had to throw away own trash which was kinda weird but not to hard to do. Needs new furniture and better cleaning!

On the corner by the zoo and Waikiki beach both places are walking distances. 2 restaurants on the lower levels, and laundry room in the basement level. We got a room with a kitchenette, the rooms are a little outdated but it's fine if you plan on doing a lot of outings and adventures. Parking is first come first serve but you can reserve a spot during your stay at the desk or call ahead, it will be $31/day with in and out privileges back behind the hotel on Lemon rd. No room service since COVID and they only clean the room after you check out. You can go to the desk though and ask for beach supplies and fresh towels (after 3 days of stay) as well as more toiletries for free. All in all good experience for what you pay for and convenience for how close it is to other places, but if you're looking for something more fancy and bougie this isn't the place. Hope this helps 🤙

I like that its on the edge of "populated" Honolulu, in part because it makes the view from the top of the hotel epic and you can travel easily to beaches to the east! You can visit the beach just a block away and there are other pretty areas nearby. However, there's construction by the pool, no hotel parking, no temporary parking to check in, and its a little dated. I don't know how it compares to the cost of other places in the area, but its worth it overall if you don't mind moving your car around or paying a good bit for parking!

The set up was pretty, it has air and you can open the windows. The bed was hard. And I ordered food from a local restaurant. What I didn't like is that I found cockroaches in my food after I had it set out on the table.

Building location was pretty good, interior and amenities were ok (there is a pool, but we didn't use it) but feels outdated like many local hotels. Covid protocols were being enforced and reminders / hand sani were plentiful around the common areas. Parking is $25 per day, a very competitive rate for the area. If you need to bridge parking check out time with your airport departure time, park across the street in the zoo parking for 1.50 per hour.

Loved the location, very convenient and close to shopping on the right and nice run path towards the mountain. Vacation vibe of the place, really good burger place downstairs - can do takeout and wait for it in your room. Safe too. The only drawback is the pool as it was cold, small and needs TLC but who needs it when you have nature at its best - the ocean across the street!

Location is perfect. But the housekeeping is a DIY experience. They do not clean the room daily. Gotta swap towels at the desk. Beds are 2 star hard. Light from outside streams into room at night. But it's right on the beach.

These guys are thieves!! They told us at check in everything was paid for and all good. then at checkout, the bullied my wife into paying another $135!! even though i had a receipt that said i was paid in full. Then a week later charged us another $125 for no reason, saying there was an unpaid balance. My reciept clearly states ALL taxes, cleaning, and resort fees are PAID!!

My room was not impressive, not a bit, but it was functional with a tiny kitchenette. The personnel was great. They also have underground parking at a decent price. The hotel has some nice facilities like a bar, a pool, a laundry and they can lend some stuff for the beach. It is also just in front of Waikiki beach.

Wonderful location with wonderful staff. The sun deck rooms on the 10th floor are the best. There are no king beds, however, only queens. You change your own sheets and towels but that’s not a huge deal. Laundry facilities on-site which were great. Free usage of beach towels, chairs, body boards and more. Hulas was fun too despite still keeping social distance and keeping mingling to a minimum. Would definitely stay here again.

Can’t begin to explain how great of a experience this hotel is! The staff are so down to earth and welcoming along with a beautiful and clean stay. Had the best vacation of my life! I’m going back to see the staff William, Keoni, & Roxy ❤️ Where did they find such great people? The room and views were spectacular ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

To Roxy thank you very much for your hospitality and for going above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable one. The location is great I liked it. The prices are pretty competitive and parking is not too bad. Word of advice if you have a rental please call the hotel in advance so they can reserve a spot for you. On the second floor they have a bar, Hula's Bar & Lei Stand, which does gives a nice view of the Diamond Head. The next time I go to Honolulu the Waikiki Grand Hotel is most definitely the first spot I'll check out.

I'm not sure why the negative comments, fantastic room, and sun deck that have amazing views from the 10th floor. Has a bar with decent bar food and live music, a restaurant. Under a minute walk to a burger joint, ABC store, smoothie place, Starbucks, and to Waikiki beach. I understand this is an older place with upgrades but worth the location and price. Definitely will still be here again.

Thank you Aunty Roxy for accommodating our needs and wants. She went above and beyond. We truly loved our stay at this hotel. Location is great. It’s safe. Everything is from walking distance!! Bus stop is next to the hotel, as well. And the people who work at the hotel are kind & helpful.

Great location across from the beach, as well as the Honolulu Zoo. Front desk staff are amazing and the hotel has all the amenities you could need. Bed is super comfortable, a refrigerator and microwave are provided, and air conditioning works great. Within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and activities. I would absolutely stay here again when back in town.

We went through Vrbo. Best location next to zoo and very close to beach. We had to pay for parking $30 per day. Rooftop terrace is accessible and many went there to watch sunset. Tables were there so you could eat outside. Our room like a studio apartment was very basic but had everything we needed and they had ample towels! Front desk staff guy has been great. Be careful if you have to park in basement. Very narrow!

There were 4 of us that stayed in room 1006 (including 1 toddler). Although it was a little tight, we managed to function well for the full 2 weeks without any issues. The kitchenette was great and stocked well with everything needed. We had tons of towels and toiletries in our room when we arrived. When we arrived, we only had a couple of knives and a couple of forks, but had a new, full set of cutlery the next day. We asked to have our bedding and towels changed once mid-stay and within an hour of the request 4 ladies were knocking on the door and ready to go. They changed both beds, towels and they even swept and mopped the floor in no time. Very efficient and very friendly. You can't beat the location. Across from the Zoo, Waikiki Beach and very close to Diamond Head. Never made it onto the sundeck for sunrise, but the sunsets are spectacular there with an unobstructed view. We travelled with 2 more people that stayed in another suite and ended up having a few family dinners together on the sundeck around sunset. It's a nice perk to this place as well to have some tables and chairs on the sundeck. We rented a mini van for a week while there and the front desk drew me a map of where free parking was in the area as they could not accommodate a vehicle that size. Although it fills up in the area, most of the time by 4ish, parking spots open up on the backside of the zoo as people are starting to leave the beach. I never once had to pay for parking, no issues with damage to the vehicle and had to walk at most 5 mins to get to the hotel. There is a pool on site, paid laundry that wash and dry well and faster than my machines at home and a couple of restaurants/bars in the building. I highly recommend this place as we had a great experience there. Again, YOU CANT BEAT THE LOCATION FOR THE PRICE!!!!!! We booked directly through Waikiki Grand Hotel and picked our room based on our needs and we weren't charged any additional fees upon arrival/check out.

We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. Firstly, the location is prime being right on the beach and within walking distance of the zoo, multiple parks/restaurants/bars etc. Second, the room was great. Our room had a private balcony with a beautiful view of the park by the zoo (totally worth the extra money) and you can see the beach! Kitchenette was stocked with dishes and utensils, which was greatly appreciated! Third, and most importantly, the staff were so so so kind! Roxy works the front desk some nights and she is the coolest chick. We got in at 10pm after 18 hours on a plane and her happiness, warmth, and energy made all of our frustration melt away. She’s the kind of person you can’t help but smile around, and that’s super important in customer service! I wish I knew the name of the other front desk staff to shout them out, but everyone’s been so warm and kind. 10/10 guys, keep it up!

When here for an Airbnb (the hotel manages some rooms but most are individual rentals). This review is for the front desk staff. They were over the top kind and helpful. Smiling and greeting everyone who walked in, both gentleman during each shift appeared to really enjoy their job. I called a few weeks prior to visiting and had an equally pleasant phone call. I was truly impressed. Keep it up! The facilitates are aging but maintained and parking is difficult but the location is pretty great!

I will never come to this hotel again it is so ghetto. first off we asked for towels and there's no room service or no phone to call so you have to go downstairs to the front desk and ask for the towels. the towels are towels that we could get from home. and you can't have more than three towels. another thing we're going to our room and the beds are sunk in because the frames are broken also the room is so small there's barely any space to walk or there's nowhere to sit down except the bed also if you want to pay $90 for a checking out and cleaning fee I wouldn't recommend here💯

Location was the best on Waikiki The staff was very friendly and professional Parking on site was a big plus for us for a reasonable fee. Everything and everyone made our stay the most enjoyable experience. Huge Mahalo to Roxy and her staff for making us feel welcomed We will definitely be return guests in the future. We felt right at home here at this property.

Roxy, Jonathan, Kiyonie, Alec & Chip (tour guide recruits) Solomon (tour guide) Kim, and the manager made our trip amazing! We extended it because of their great service and our overall experience! Will recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Waikiki! We are short walk from everything, the beach is only 2 minutes aeay. There's food within a 3 minutes radius, shops are within a 5 - 10 minute radius. It's on the strip!

The location of this hotel is so great and so close to everything! However, a few draw backs 1. Rooms are very small 2. One wall is essentially a window which is great but without black out curtains, the lights of the city, more specifically other hotel patios across the way made it very bright in the room, even in the middle of the night. It was difficult to sleep. 3. They charge you a cleaning fee even though they don’t clean your room during the duration of your stay. They clean when you leave. When you do leave, you are expected to take out the trash. 4. Speaking of the cleaning fee, we booked online through Castle Resorts and paid the $200 cleaning fee but when we arrived they said that company never gives them that money and we have to pay that amount again in person and contact the online company for a refund. What!? Why are you working with a booking company that treats your customers like that!?

  • 3/5 Lynda S. 5 months ago on Google
Gorgeous location close to beach. Nice view from the top floor patio, overlooks the zoo and the ocean. Rooms clean but dated. Last room we had was extremely small with no real storage and bed was accessible only from one side. No real kitchen although it had a few appliances and a small refrigerator.

I really like this place, I am rented an Airbnb from one of the units. It was very clean and it’s centrally located in downtown Waikiki across the street from the zoo which I could see from my window. There’s a bar that’s also connected to the building on floor two which is really fun. They have pool and open air seating, bartenders are fast and efficient and very friendly and that place gets a little crazy at night time but it’s really fun and there’s a burger place on the first floor which is really good call teddies big burgers.

My conclusion on this place: 1) You got what you paid for. 2) I would not recommend this place. 3) Location was the only good thing. Reasoning: 1) the whole shower set broke, cant shower at all. Front desk personnel was not willing to change room (allow me to go to another room to shower) until the Wi-Fi was not working in that room. 2) front desk personnel seems busy all the time, no patient with attitude. Made a big deal of getting a blanket and bringing back a blanket.

I enjoyed everything about this place. The service was so friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, good size and came with almost a full size refrigerator! Lots of activities to do. A lot of people out, but it's on the outskirts of the downtown area so not too bad with noise/traffic/foot traffic. Close to everything especially with the beach literally across the street. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Mary (2nd shift desk clerk) was rude , although the beach is a block away you can only get towels every other day , rooms look great on line but in person you will be highly disappointed. They didn’t have my room ready upon arrival (booked it 9 months in advance) so we were given a much smaller room for 2 days , uneven floor , leaking faucets , rooms wreaked of mildew and poorly maintained. Parking is a joke as well. Travelers beware. #NEVERAGAIN

So the first couple nights were ok, then there’s a black out. Which I guess is understandable. About $150 worth of left overs spoiled and ice cream melted. I went to The front desk to tell them and they started basically saying I was lying, “how could your food have spoiled” like maybe because the power was off for over 12 hours and our rooms get hella hot and humid without the AC and fans. Luckily I’m younger and I was able too sleep through the nights but I heard multiple “elderly” people who sounded scared about the night. Besides that it would be World war 3 if I dared to bring any of these problems up to the front desk. Another big problem I had was the towel situation. You have to swap out old towels, I get that but what I don’t get is why every Rowell we ever received still looked dirty as heck. When we arrived they told us too keep the room clean and dusted how it was when we arrived, when we arrived I took photos of all the dust on top of furniture, there was a thick layer on it. I wasn’t going to post this but I saw the ladies at the front desk arguing with other guests about the same problems I was having. Zero hospitality, they try to brush away any problems. Oh haha and then the 4th day our water went out too. It was definitely a trip staying their. Idk what the worst part was, the front desk who tries to brush off your problems and argue, the power going out, the water going out, the spoiled left overs, the dirty towels or the dusty room.

Great location right across from the beach, restaurants and shops within blocks in every direction. Gotta check out the hula bar on the 2nd floor, great music, even better bartenders (justin), and the food is wonderful. The drinks are crazy 🤪.. try their pitcher long Island or Mai Tai... then sit back and watch the ocean .... awesome fun.

As with every other hotel, the pandemic did leave its effects on the business, but didn't stop me from enjoying the closeness to the beach. Front desk will answer all your questions with kindness. In the lobby there is also an agent by the name of Alec, see him for your tourist bookings!!

Hotel was close to the beach but that’s where it ended for us. Rooms need updating, didn’t get cleaned in 7 days even though we paid almost 200us for cleaning. Aircon keeps you awake, old and useless. Can do better.

  • 4/5 Haley M. 4 months ago on Google • 1 review
I found this place through a different booking site but booked directly through WGH. The room is small but it was just the two of us so we found it to be great. It does need some updating. The windows don’t really close so you hear a lot of the traffic below. The bathroom light went out on us and flickered any other time we had to use the shower. For our 12 day stay, we got to see the sunsets to the right and the sunrise over Diamond Head to our left from our balcony. We had a rental car that we paid parking for and we were able to walk to anywhere close by and really enjoyed it. Having the beach so close was fantastic! We loved it and would recommend this hotel.
