DO NOT GO! Especially if you are a woman alone. I was ‘forced’ drinks, that did not take, by a couple. When I realized something was very off, I went a bouncer and explained what I assumed was happening. After that I was physically escorted out by the bouncer I expressed my concern to. Please be careful if you are not a local, and maybe to naive. I would just stay away!!!

I had a terrible experience here on Saturday night . When I went to the this terrible establishment I kept ordering multiple shots and drinks , I thought I was having a good time until it was time to close out my tab , they said they did not have my I.d or card . Mind you I have pretty good tolerance to alcohol , it was going to take me a lot more to be forgetful . Even after asking 3 times one of the bartenders even got really rude with me . I called my husband & he came down there and asked for my things back & it magically appeared. Now I thought of different scenarios to where maybe they thought I was too drunk but why would that be the case they would just need to close out my tab & stop serving me alcohol . Someone who worked there definitely tried there hardest to keep my I.d & card . Never go bck. They will definitely try to take advantage of you

I should of read the reviews first. This place has extremely horrible reviews dating back to 5 years ago to now. This is despicable behavior. These people need to be fined and brought up on charges for racial profiling. I’m not going to write a long review. All black people who have encountered an issue with this place need to report them. Do not attempt to gain access to this place. Keep your money, do not waste your time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. REPORT THEM !!!!!!

Security was on the dance floor but not in a cool way. Looking for a reason to start a fight or kick someone out. Threatening environment for no reason. Also dress code is weird. You absolutely need belt loops because it’s a policy and they’re a “high end” club. They’re not. The dance floor is so tiny and security makes it feel like an adult supervision field trip. Go to sky bar instead !!

We got here early, front desk female was really kind and recommended another bar until they opened. I was nervous because of all the bad reviews but we came here tonight (Tuesday) and it was actually a great turn out. I’m black (so the music here is great) and I enjoyed the music, drinks were strong, server was attentive and bouncers didn’t bother us. Follow the rules and you’ll be fine. It was slow but it’s Tuesday and it was still fun! They play great music. The vibes are definitely there and I wish we could be able to go on a Saturday I know it would be fun! Worth going!

Homophobic and trashy. Blatantly so homophobic. The guards are trash and their dresscode policy actively wants womem to wear limited clothing but requires men to wear sleeves. The guards were nasty and everyone who was leaving there actively told people in line not to go in because it's not worth it. Avoid the guards in the photos too because they are verbally abusive.

The bar we were at previously had mentioned this was the place to dance so we were excited! The server stated you opened at 10pm and we were ready. Well you opened at 1030pm which was fine we were excited! I went up to the bar and simply asked the bartender if she knew what a green tea shot is (I bartend at very busy bar in the Midwest USA and I know not a lot of drinks are similar). She rolled her eyes and said yes. I said awesome I need 6 of them. She huffed and rolled her eyes again. I asked her how her night was I didn't get much of a response. She then charges me 12 dollars per shot, when I watched her make them it was for maybe 4 of them not 6. I paid and tipped with no problem. She proceeded to be a not very nice service worker all night. The DJ also acted like he hated his job. I don't mind paying that much (back home they are 5.50 a piece) but I do mind when the service is terrible.

Security don't want you to have a good time period they look for anything to go wrong all way dr standing dancing. This place is racist period if you are black it's quite nerve wrecking when you trying have a good time. Anthropology you was like you were wrong for being there. Tres lightly if you are black

dress code which we thought.. okay. But then we get in and it’s 0/10. No dancing and weird vibes. Save your $5 and go to McDonald’s for a Big Mac.

Avoid this place at all cost, all the bad reviews are 100% accurate. Weird dress code about belt loops 50$ minimum credit card hold 10$ entry fee Sketchy af Unsafe for female presenting people Bouncers actively looking for fights like you wouldn’t believe Only cash accepted Terrible drinks Don’t go here there are lots of places around to go to instead. All the women I went with left 5 minutes later. Not worth it whatsoever.

If you are looking for the time of your life this is not the place! The bartenders are rude and unhelpful. My friend started to order a drink and she made the time out gesture with her hands didn’t let her finish what she was ordering made her a random drink that she didn’t even ask for. I then ordered a rum and pineapple and she just gave me pineapple juice with no alcohol. Also the bar wasn’t even busy so it wasn’t like they were overwhelmed with customers. The point is don’t waste your time or money here. You also have to pay with cash. If you want to pay with card there is a $50 minimum plus a 10 cover fee to get into the club. They were only serving older men and could careless about anyone else. If I could give this place negative stars I would.

What kind of night club prohibits dancing??? Why have a dance floor at all? Is it for looking and standing only? Save yourself the trouble of dealing with pushy bouncers and paying a cover only to get yelled at for dancing at a night club with music and a dance floor. Call it what it is, a club with a sticky light up floor, not a dance floor where everyone hates their job.

Really cool dance floor with nice lights. Def the jump off spot, open late, usually a dj. These reviews about bouncers being a little “extra” is true. They will warn you, and even kick you out if you walk on the dance floor with a drink - which I think is a FANTASTIC rule! It’s a dope dance floor with lights inside it **

Had a pretty good experience here. Drinks are reasonably priced. Pretty open during the weeks and packed on the weekends. Noticed they tend to play a larger variety of music on the less crowded nights. When it gets busy you'll mostly be listening to hip-hop; more of a latin mix on the week nights. Cool light up dance floor and a decent more mature crowd compared to some of the other clubs in the area.

The worst "club" in Waikiki. Customer service is non existent and drinks are watered down / expensive. PSA they close at 11:00 not 4:00 AM don't waste your time standing in line to get in, the bouncers simply won't talk to anyone after 9:00.

Don't come here...this place is not very welcoming to African Americans.. ..I love to have fun especially on vacation...but this place is not where I would if I was African American. Security person ( African American with blonde dyed hair cut made me feel very uncomfortable)

You HAVE to wear pants with belt loops. Doesn’t matter how nice your shorts are. I think intent has been lost because of enforcement of a verbatim rule. Allow the security to determine what dress/outfits are considered acceptable for the club based on an understanding of the image the club wants to portray verses a simple “we can’t let you in because you don’t have belt loops” rule. Jeans and khakis pants in a tropical area is ridiculous especially in 2022.

I’ve never been to a “club” with such a bad sound system. Zero Base sounds like your high school $25 cars sound system. Just trash! I don’t usually say this, but I’m pretty sure they are racist. They didn’t let in any of the black women trying to get in. Saying it was for dress code. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Hmm.

I was skeptical to give this place a chance because of all the reviews, but we decided to go anyways and I’m so happy we did. We went last night which was a Sunday night and it was a blast. Great music (hiphop/r&b/Spanish/house music). The bouncer at the door was from Florida and super friendly and approachable. Drinks aren’t too strong, they use premix, but it was fine, just pregame no biggie. Everyone just vibed and was having fun and there was a mix of people there. Everyone wore something different and no one said anything about the way anyone was dressed. The rest of security didn’t mess with anyone or in your face or looking for problems. They are strict about not drinking on the dance floor, but who wants drinks spilled all over the floor anyways. The bartenders were also nice and weren’t rude in any way. There is a sweet older woman working the bathroom but she wasn’t in your face about tipping she was sweet, I gave her a few bucks and she was appreciative. Overall good time. Give it a try it may surprise you 🤷🏼‍♀️

Beware - the establishment waters down their drinks by ~50%, so the cheap drinks are not actually a good value. Confirmed by everyone in my party. Music is fairly good, overall vibe is a miss. There are better places to go in Waikiki. Also - there is a MINIMUM $50 charge if using a credit card at the bar. Be warned

You would have to spend $50 dollars using your card otherwise you need cash. Security folks are so untrained and unprofessional! Believe it or not they were more drunk than anyone inside the club! One of the security harassed my friend, asked her very inappropriate questions! When he was confronted by me, he was acting like someone on drug! Not recommended for normal folks! TRASHY PLACE PAR EXCELLENCE

This place is AWESOME! We went once and spent hours here! The music is great, amazing bartenders and fantastic drinks. We went back the next night with friends and we danced the night away! One of my favorite places on the island by far!

Horrible place to go party. My friends and I were harassed in the bathroom to tip a lady that would hand us paper towel. Then tried getting ice and water and the bartender was literally saying no. So instead I tried buying shots of ice and the bartender still didn’t want to. She proceeded to be so aggressive and started yelling then the security kicked us out and I was so confused because she was the only one yelling. I definitely do not recommend going to this place the bartenders and security are horrible and it’s a place you can’t get water

Had a couple drinks at the bar . Cool vibes and decent spot to grab a single lady/guy . Not sure about the racists accusations in here as I was able to get in with shorts and slides no problem in December . It’s always about energy so if you come in with that mindset of having a good time you will . Aloha and hang loose !

Worst bar I've ever been too. I have traveled around the world and the workers here are the worst I've ever experienced. The bouncers look for fights and have zero respect for the patrions. The bartenders are great however the bouncers are terrible and look for fights despite talking to them with reason and respect. Awful bar and would never return or recommend. The employees deserve to be fired here. Awful service

Drinks are affordable, security makes sure everyone is in good hands. Music is great for everyone. Coming back for sure, don’t let the reviews scare you away. It’s worth the $10 charge, dress accordingly.

Very fun and laid back… drinks aren’t too expensive. But there was a creep recording girls on the dance floor and when a guy tried to block him, the security guard told him to leave. Creep kept recording no problem…

Gave this place a chance despite the bad reviews. They were right. Water costs $4 for a bottle (they don’t give you tap water) and there is a $50 credit minimum. Security is also actively looking to kick people out, and when rules are broken they are selective about who they enforce them on.

They don’t let you drink on the dance floor. Yes, you read that right lol, pretty bizarre. Because of this weird policy it ends up being 75% of the crowd standing around awkwardly watching the other 25% dance. Honestly this could be a really cool spot - the music is decent, the layout is nice, and the dance floor is actually really cool - but their weird rules kind of mess up the whole vibe.

Drinks were ok priced. Atmosphere was weird a lot of girls being rowdy and drunk. Dance floor looked cool but you can’t take drinks on it so it’s dry. Service from bartenders was good. Entry fee $10. Tiny bathrooms but they were clean.

Great club to chill or show off some dance moves! Make sure to talk to the DJ if you want a song. Dress code is strict, but vibe is still a mood!

Ghetto place pretending to be upscale. Amateur bartenders, DJ plays music like it’s a middle school dance. More security than attendees that’ll manhandle you to just get out of their way like they aren’t the service providers.

Playbar Waikiki Nightclub is a popular nightlife destination located in the heart of Waikiki, Hawaii. The dance floor is spacious, allowing guests to move freely and enjoy themselves. In terms of service, the staff at Playbar Waikiki Nightclub are generally not the most friendly and attentive. During peak hours, it can be challenging to find seating or get quick service due to the high volume of patrons. One aspect that may be off-putting for some visitors is the cover charge. While it is understandable for clubs to have cover charges to maintain exclusivity and manage crowd control, some individuals may find it steep compared to other establishments in the area. Playbar Waikiki Nightclub offers an enjoyable nightlife experience with its lively ambiance and diverse music selection. However, potential visitors should consider factors such as cover charges, crowdedness, and strict dresscode before making their decision.

If I could give it zero, I would! Terrible experience! YOU CANNOT DANCE!!! The DJ made an announcement for everyone to sit down and there are signs around saying no dancing! What kind of bar is this?!?! The DJ was terrible as well! I do not recommend.... spend your money on something else!

I tried many different night clubs, I do not recommend this one. Bouncers very agressive. Exemple out of many, they don’t hesitate to push you violently if your have a drink in the 10 m^2 dance floor. Go somewhere else !

If you’re a normal person, disregard the negative reviews. This is a great spot. DJ mixes a solid set. Highly recommend if you’re visiting, especially during covid with limited options.

  • 1/5 Katie M. 3 months ago on Google New
Bouncers were hostile to begin with. There is a $10 cover charge which is fine except there was no one inside. Then they tell you there’s a $50 minimum on cards after you order your drinks. The dance floor looks cool but there’s no drinks allowed on it. There’s also a strict dress code. Lots of weird rules for seemingly no reason. Definitely won’t be bothering to return.

  • 1/5 Julia E. 2 years ago on Google
We thought the other reviews were kidding about the dancing. They were not. You can only sit down in the booths and sip your drink. We felt absolutely scammed with the drinks as well - they called the last call at 11:30 and let us buy 2 beers and a shot per person. Then, they turned on the lights at 11:35 and RUSHED people out, and you can’t finish the drinks outside. How are we supposed to finish the drinks in 5 minutes? What a shady business.

  • 4/5 Mitchell T. 4 months ago on Google
My wife and I went there after reading the reviews. We had a greet time. Made friends and danced all night. The bouncers are a little over bearing with the rules. A girl we were with was talked to 3 times for breaking rules. She took her drinks to the dance floor and her lay was dropping flowers everywhere. We had no issues with twerking or dirty dancing. It was a ten dollar cover but the drinks were strong. 8/10 recommend

Great club with wonderful, attentive staff. Although no dancing is strictly enforced due to COVID, the DJ will have you yearning to get down!

😐 We checked in here for a late lunch and it was a bit of a disappointment. The food was better than it looked like and the beer was alright as well. The place was almost empty and there were a lot of pigeons. I gave only 3 stars for the service because you order online and there's little interaction...
