The atmosphere is amazing. I love the location and if you can get a table outside on the edge of the patio facing the ocean and airports it's an amazing view. I love watching the planes land and take off. The service was a little sub par from the beginning. There was no one in line when we arrived and nobody at the boat stand. As we stood there a few staff had passed by and looked at us but never acknowledged us or say that they will be right with us. The place didn't appear to be busy as there were lots of open tables. We were finally seated and got drinks ordered and eventually ordered food. Food was good surprisingly for something on base. I was almost expecting bowling alley quality but it was better than that. But again service is where the downfall was. Took a while for check backs and drink refills. Other than that a overall good experience. I would go back.

You will be hard pressed to find a place with this amazing view available for service or with process less than $40 a person. This is a gem that I encourage everyone to explore. The food is good, not amazing dining experience. It's casual with service usually being quite good. Often they are shorthanded and expect delays in service. However, I challenge this as a perk of you have the time to relax. The views are breathtaking and the drinks are amazing while maintaining affordability. We take guests here whenever they visit a it is Waikiki quality views without the prices, crowds, or parking issues. Come, enjoy, and have a relaxing drink without needing a second mortgage.

Minus one star for the food, it’s okay not anything wow about it. But the views are amazing here. A great place to come have drinks or quick lunch and watch planes take off. Updated review for a second visit 4 months later: the food this time around was much better. Even though our appetizers came out after our meals, the server was great and was very attentive to our needs.

Ate there today. Go for the view, then lower your expectations from there. Dirty restaurant, my arms stuck to the table, seated in the bar, (not a bar person), asked to be moved, but was told I couldn't move to the restaurant, yet they continued to seat people there. A decent server, waited 30 minutes for a burger and poorly made tacos. A Taco Bell kit from Long's would have been preferable. A highly visible big dead cockroach in the restaurant.... Need I say more? BTW, we've been going there since 1987. Haven't gone there for a long time due to previous owners switching strictly to a buffet. A great experience 3 weeks ago, but fell far short today.

Great environment. Food is fantastic but more pricey than you'd expect to find on base. You really can't beat the view. The staff was friendly as well. Be sure to see if they're doing any events because that will increase prices.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, the drinks are SO good. Love the view and the food. My only complaint is that the food is not consistent. I've ordered this salad 3 times and it looks different each time. Ahi poke appetizer is SO good. My kids love the burgers and kids menu!

One of my absolute favorite places when I want to scenic view. The staff are always absolutely amazing. My burger was also good. If you're looking for a quick bite or a laid-back scenic spot this is it.

Nice ocean breeze and comfortable atmosphere. Staff was super friendly and met with expectations. Blackened Mahi sandwich. well fish was proper prepared but lacked true southern blackening. But still flavorful and piece of fish was good sized. The bread was very tasty but oversized for the fish sandwich. A burger would have been perfect for the vessel. The calamari starter was very tasty and the garlic dipping sauce was plenty tasty. Beers were cold and nice selection. Did have someone order the Pumpkin Spiced Pina Colada. Ice could have been better blended but not a bad option. Worth a visit and view during the day is nice.

Best burger on the island you ask me! The Classic 50/50 is my all time favorite. Anytime I'm craving a burger, I think of the Lanai. I've tried a few other dishes, which were great, but it was all over after I sunk my teeth in on that fateful evening. The staff is friendly, seating outside is awesome with the cool breeze and an amazing view of the ocean, and it's an all around great dining experience everytime I visit. Unfortunately, it is located on Hickam AFB, so non-military will have to be sponsored by a military (DOD) member in order to experience this tasty bliss.

I rarely write reviews but we’ve been here a few times with the same issue and I’m hoping a manager will read this and something good comes out of it. For starters, the view and waitresses are excellent. The food and drinks are also good. I’d recommend the burgers, blt salad, coconut shrimp, and jack daniels salmon. Unfortunately Kai, the host, is awful. His personality is short and abrasive, he doesn’t want to be there and hates that he has to seat guests. Forget a simple, “hello, welcome to the Lanai” Kai would rather tell you that the kitchen is closing in twenty minutes...even though we arrived at 6pm and they close at 7pm. He then told us he couldn’t seat us...which was also not true. A waitress overheard him and literally stepped in to clear a table, seat us, and apologized for him. You could tell she was used to doing it and was also annoyed by his behavior. On a previous visit, I asked to sit at a certain table by the water. He told me we couldn’t sit there, even though the restaurant was pretty dead and my requested table had just become available (honestly, I think he just didn’t want to clean it). After he sat us, we ordered drinks while the table sat vacant for another 10 minutes. After ordering food, we asked our server if we could move to the table by the water and she cleaned it herself for us to enjoy the view. I honestly feel bad for the staff that have to overcompensate for the host. Thankfully, the drinks, food and the beautiful view are enough to overshadow Kai’s lousy attitude.

We very much enjoyed out dining experience our service and food were good 👍 . Not very busy at the time we dined so we were able to sit out near the water on the deck . The Hawaiian Burger and fries were very good. No issues with our visit .

The view is amazing, but the food is mediocre. I had the parmesan crusted Ono and it was bland. This is my second visit and both times the food hasn't quite hit the mark. *Update - I've lowered down to two stars due to the fact that I've been there 3x for dinner and twice for lunch. Every time the food has been subpar, especially for the price I'm paying. For instance, I went for lunch about a week ago and had the street taco combo - 1 Kailua pork, 1 beef, and 1 fish. It was pretty bland, not seasoned and luke warm. I don't like sending food back because you never know what they'll do to it.

Nice view of the water, but I got served the wrong burger and the waiter wasn't in a good mood. Personally, I'd rather grab burger king and a case of beer from the shoppette for the same price as 1 burger and chill at a pavilion.

The view and foods are great.

The food was excellent and the staff were sweet! There was definitely a wait for food but the quality made up for it in the end. The views during dinner were gorgeous and they really had a great menu to select from.

They didn't have pasta so the menu was quite limited. The food was very good. The service was average and the views great. I ordered the poke for an appetizer. It was enough for two of us and it was great . We paid $67 for the 16 oz ribeye for two. The vegetables were squash and had about four or five slices. Only enough for one person. Improve the service and maybe the menu a little bit and it could have gotten a five.

Relaxing lunch with a friend from the Mainland. Restaurant is right by the beach and you can watch the planes taxing the runway for departure. My friend had a delicious burger with sweet potato fries and I had an avocado 🥑 salad 🥗. Yummy!

Overall a good dining experience during lunch today. Salmon was cooked perfectly, though I did order my burger med rare, but it was definitely rare. Still looked raw on the inside. But everything else was delish, and beautiful ambiance.

However, I regret to inform you that I was somewhat disappointed with the quality of the food and the pricing. While the presentation and taste of the salad with fish were satisfactory, I felt that the coconut shrimp dish fell short of expectations. Specifically, the portion size of the coconut shrimp, consisting of only five pieces, did not justify its price. Moreover, I was underwhelmed by the flavor and overall value of the dish. In terms of pricing, I found the overall menu to be slightly overpriced, especially considering the average quality of the food. It would be beneficial if the restaurant reviewed its pricing strategy to align with the culinary experience they aim to provide to their customers. Despite these areas of improvement, I would like to acknowledge the attentive service provided by the restaurant staff. The waitstaff were courteous, accommodating, and ensured a pleasant dining experience. In conclusion, while the views from the restaurant were undoubtedly impressive, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of the food quality and pricing. I hope that my feedback can be taken into consideration to enhance the overall dining experience for future customers.

Great place for a meal if you've been on the beach and want to catch a meal! Love being able to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Service could have been better. We didn't get refills on drinks and it took a while for the food and check to come. But the staff was friendly and the food tasted good.

Great place with a fantastic view of both the water and planes taking off and landing. The prices aren’t bad, particularly for Hawaii but they aren’t a bargain either. The few times I’ve been here over the past couple of years, it seems to be short staffed which obviously affects service even though the bartender/waitress/server/etc. was doing an incredible job all by herself.

I honestly could go here everyday for the atmosphere. This place is spot on gorgeous. You can see military planes as well as civilian planes land and take off. You may see a submarine further out. The fish, birds, etc are all gorgeous. The beach, sand, water crystal clear and beautiful. The food and drinks are good. The menu isn't large but varied enough for just about most people's taste. Nice open breezy place to sit and relax and enjoy the water, people, and food!

Great food, even better prices. Restaurant has a pretty standard Hawaiian sports bar menu, but everything I've had in my multiple visits tastes great and portion size is well worth the price. Food and drink prices are noticeably lower than prices out in town. It's a hike to get here even if you have base access, but once you're here the view is great and it's worth the trek to come watch sports or get lunch. Bonus points if you're a plane or aviation geek, watching the military and civilian aircraft take off and land from the adjacent runway is unlike anywhere else.

Don't let the exterior of the building deter you. It has great decor on the inside and patio, and the food was very good. Similar to if someone took an Applebee's and made it classy.

Best place on Hickam to grab a bite to eat and chill.

Had fish and chips. The fish was so moist...flaky... not oily at all. Batter was just right. Very crispy and also not oily. Really enjoyed it. I really like extra crispy fries and forgot to ask for extra crispy. Fries were perfect. Slaw was local style...everything was Ono!!!

One caveat before posting this review - when we tried The Lanai it was carry-out only as a means to counter the spread of COVID. It may be a completely different experience under normal circumstances. The service: Quick and easy, we ordered ahead and our food was ready for pickup within minutes of us arriving. The food: completely underwhelming. We ordered a wide assortment of entrees and were consistently underwhelmed at the level of seasoning in each dish. If bland was a theme, it was captured flawlessly. The high point, however, was the fried macaroni & cheese balls - they were very good. The facility: Although we only caught a glimpse while waiting briefly for our food, the restaurant did look very nice and well-maintained. There was ample outdoor covered seating and the indoor dining area looked clean and refined.

Great space. I mean really, open lanai seating, ocean lapping feet from your table, the jets taking off and landing- we come for the atmosphere and drinks. Appetizers and desserts are pretty good. But entrees- well, I pass. Burgers aren't very flavorful, they seem to come overcooked or raw. The fish and chips weren't bad, and the pork sand was good! Service can be spotty. Sometimes super fast, friendly, attentive, othertimes- slow, and difficult to get someone when you need something. Drinks have always been awesome! A good place to pop into after the beach, or a lazy afternoon cocktail , quick snacks. Overall it's a good fun place, great atmosphere, okay food, excellent drinks, some really good desserts and appetizers. All my guest love to come here!

Kahlua Pork Dip was amazing, it's like a french dip and the fries were good too! Mint to Be drink was yummy. Fish tacos were ok. View was gorgeous and service from Megan was perfect!!!

We went there after a long paddle. The ahi sandwich that I had was very good. Our server Megan was exceptional. Also, the view is hard to beat.

We have been faithfully going to the Lanai for nearly two years since arriving in island. Usually, it has been good and the service was great. Tonight, however, we had the absolute worst experience with the service manager. Our waitress even apologized for how he acted but it was just too bad to stay. We walked out before we could even order food due to his horrible attitude. Sad way to experience the one date night we have planned on in months. We won’t go back - not worth the effort. Cusps to the sweet waitress - she witnessed how bad he was. Not the way to treat Servicemen and their Families.

The food was pretty good... the only complaint was the corn was super cold (like from the night before and not heated up) they took it back and microwaved it for us after we took bites 🤣 I've never had a restaurant take food to nuke it and bring it back with a bite missing. Usually it'll be replaced with the same product but cooked correctly it's cool though, I'd do the same at home 🤷🏼‍♀️ The service was good. The views are gorgeous. The price is $$$$

Honestly - I probably wouldn’t write a review if it wasn’t for the service I get there. The view and food is pretty good but Pam and Kai are fantastic. Last Sunday we went for dinner but had to wait on the bar side and got drinks while we waited. The service was meh and my drink sucked.....BUT it got better. We were waiting for a table on the dining side and Pam came to grab us and take us over to her section. She’s probably one of the best servers I’ve ever had. You can tell she gets busy - but the way she handles things and takes care of us is perfect. She literally feels like a lifelong friend it’s so strange. She told us what was good eats and made us laugh throughout our dinner. We came back tonight with our neighbors and she remembered our names and what we had ordered before. She da bestest. I can see my husband and I being regulars in her section only. And Kai - I literally wanted to meet him because I read bad reviews about him from a few weeks ago. He dropped off our appetizers and we talked and he’s great. He asked if we needed anything or if he could get us waters. I just think a lot of entitled people come in here and get upset when things don’t go their way. Not every table is up for grabs and nobody cares about your rank. Anyways. Love them. We’ll be back.

Great location but the quality of food has really dropped over the past few months most likely due to the challenges of shipping out here in covid-19. Only the bar area is open. We will wait until all this passes before going back and updating.

Hamburgers are ono and for local braddahs and sistas its a change of scenery.

My favorite place to eat on Hickam. This is a full on restaurant that serves ice cool alcohol and delicious burgers. You can't beat it's location next to the water and Hickam Beach. Peak hours can get busy so it might be best to call ahead for availability.

1 star for the male hostess/manager, 2 stars for service, 5 stars for views/location, 4 stars for food. This place is lucky it’s on base. It’s the week of Christmas (just to give the context) and we asked our server (who was nice) to move tables because it was sunny and the hostess came up and scolded us (the customer) about it. We said oh it’s okay our server said it was fine and he said “well I’m the manager and next time come ask me!” It was pretty hostile. We had just ordered our food. AWKWARD! This should have ruined my lunch, but I’m dying. It was comical it was that bizarre. It could be because I previously wrote a negative review and I booked the reservation under my name?

Currently meeting all COVID-19 requirements but still the wait time was pretty short for a table and our meal. Awesome scenery if you can get a table near the back looking out toward the sea. Last time I was there, the air force was flying jets and my kids loved watching them during the meal.

Location 5🌟 Service 4 🌟 Nachos 1/2 🌟 Go for drinks, not food. Seriously, nachos with canned fake cheese, pace picante sauce, manufactured guacamole and pork? It’s 2020, not 1985 at the ballpark. I hate to be wasteful, but could only force down 1/2 of these nachos. 🤮
