Nico's Upstairs isn't quite ready for a total opening, but it promises to be a superb experience. The ambience is reminiscent of Nick's Fishmarket and the long ago Canlis, but contemporary. Upscale, but laid back. Lounge area is going to be popular, and the BAR!!! Copper all around. Our service was excellent. Unobtrusive and anticipatory. Our party of 4 tried four different entrees, two starters, a salad, soup, and every dessert. We tried two signature cocktails and a whiskey sour. Everything was delicious and distinctive. So much so that each of us tried a dish that we normally wouldn't ever order. And we were so impressed. We spent three times as much at a long time Waikiki establishment and were so disappointed. We have a new go-to. We would like to keep it our secret, but we want them to succeed. We could've lied.

Delicious food! Served in a timely manner and the portion was generous. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. The fish flaked perfectly under the fork. I loved the chips too!! They were perfectly salted and coated with garlic making for a truly decadent experience. The live entertainment was excellent. My only regret was we couldn’t stay the whole evening to listen.

Fantastic environment write down by the water with a lot of open seating outdoors. We had to swordfish to catch of the day which was a tuna and the shrimp scampi and everybody loved it! I would highly recommend this place for some delicious seafood dinners! You won’t go wrong.

I'm not sure what my expectations were going here to eat except for a fellowship with a colleague of mine. Admittingly I was hesitant because the last time I ate there or at least upstairs I had to have the hepatitis b test and vaccination because an employee was a carrier. This event was less remarkable. It was chaos at best. It was like a beehive people stirring around getting menus placing orders finding places to see it was less orderly and more pandemonium. I understand you don't go to a fish house and order a hamburger but I don't eat fish and my colleague does. What can go wrong with a hamburger and fries hot. They were 50/50 the fries were hot as promised. I'm not sure what I was eating for a hamburger. Perhaps it is the highest level of ground beef used but undercooked and had a strange taste. I ate only about half. So unless you're all in for fish related meals you and your group probably will do well to go somewhere else. I imagine that they're trying to minimize contact of Trey's etc but it was kind of odd handing it to you in a brown paper sack that's stapled.

Found out about Nico's Pier 38 from a local after a swimming with the turtles excursion. Probably one of the best Poke I've ever eaten.. So fresh. We ended returning on our last day to eat again. The toppings are fantastic. Would highly recommend. We heard Tamishiro market gets their fish from here. After you buy your Poke, you can go into the dining area to eat. You can also order drinks from the bar. 5 stars 🌟

The food was awesome, the wait staff we super polite and personable, never felt rushed and they were happy to advise. The fisherman 's stew was well seasoned with nice sized seafood chunks. The fish bites were enough for a meal! Amazing flavors and the fish was delish (not breadedl)

An amazing local spot with great specials, live music, and a menu that is not easy to choose from. I wanted everything!!! Seafood chowder is my son’s fave. Just like clam chowder, small portion. If you like oysters, get the oyster shooter! By far the best I’ve ever had. I personally dislike like crowds, it was busy but it’s spacious and open-air so I didn’t feel enclosed. Cool and casual just how I like it. John exuded the aloha spirit.🤙🏽 A++ service!

If you're looking for a place to eat that has great desserts, too. This is it! It's located off of Nimitz Hwy. and not the easiest place to find. There's an outdoor patio offering a nice choice to get fresh air. The restaurant is also well ventilated as one whole side of the restaurant is open. Nico's has a bar for those of you who want to enjoy some mixed drinks or tap beers. The food is delicious!

We ordered calamari, hamachi kama, bouillabaisse, shrimp scampi, steak, and grilled peppercorn sword fish. Everything tastes great, and the portions are good. The ambiance is nice with TV's for the bar, and background live acoustic music, open fresh air with the view of the pier. Prices are Hawaii standards between 15-30$.

Throughout Covid they've survived and been doing it pretty good and safe. They've brought back entertainment, still exercise safe protocols, and the food still rocks. We had the Catch of the Day Special, Panko Crusted Swordfish with a Mushroom Sauce. Very nice and tender. Staff works hard and well. You gotta live the different, but relaxing view of the harbor. Fresh poke and fish shop is still a great deal too. Good job! 🤙👍✌

Live music, great food & drinks, amazing service! I got the braised short ribs very good, next time I’d like to try the crab cake sandwich! Also recommend the chocolate cake for dessert! There was a 25 minute wait so may be worth calling a head!

We joined great local friends last night at Nico's Pier 38. They chose the restaurant and as it turns out, I believe that this is the same restaurant that I saw years ago on a Places to eat show on the Good Network or Travel Channel or something like that. When it first opened it was a very casual restaurant serving food in styrofoam containers. Today, it looks more upscale casual and open air. Last night there was live entertainment, a Grammy award winning singer George Kuo and he was outstanding. Beautiful guitar player and singer with a brilliant and colorful Hawaiian sound. For dinner we shared calamari ($16), Poke Sampler ($23.50) as appetizers. We ordered Grilled Peppercorn Swordfish-Green peppercorn and five herb marinated grilled swordfish topped with sauce vierge. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and house vegetables ($26) and Furikake Pan-Seared Ahi - Fresh tuna ahi steak coated with Japanese dried seaweed and sesame seeds. Served with your choice of rice and house vegetables with our famous ginger garlic cilantro dip ($26). I had never had Swordfish before and this was a very tasty and flaky culinary creation. The calamari was prepared well and perfect. The Poke Sampler was really really good and large enough to share or to just have as a meal. The Ahi was also very tasty and prepared nicely. For dessert we ordered a very tasty and light cheesecake....so very good. They have a case of desserts that you can pick up to go also that I passed on the way to the restroom and I think I would love to try several more desserts. Service was as attentive as we wanted and needed, the restaurant is dog friendly as there were several families with dogs dining around us. This is a nice restaurant and nice casual attire is very welcomed. We highly recommend Nico's Pier 38. Mahalo to our wonderful friends who treated us to this amazing food and drink experience.

Can’t get any fresher than Nico’s, situated right at the pier where the boats come in with their catches! They offer an extensive menu to sample their local take on fresh catches of the day - don’t miss the dessert selection either in their chill case! There’s lots of parking, with the prime spots along the road in front of the restaurant. There’s also an unpaved parking lot next to the road, although it can get full depending on how many tourists are on island. After parking, you pick up a menu then go to the register to order and pay. You’ll be given a buzzer that tells you that order is ready, then you can seat yourselves at the table of your choice. It can get pretty crowded at lunch, so be prepared to wait if you’re. Ok’ing at peak hours.

Good poke (not sinewy or chewy) for slightly expensive prices ($18 or so for poke bowl) Plenty of parking when we went on a weekday morning Staff in the poke area was curt and not the most friendly (i.e., "what do you want?") and cashier was slamming the till drawer (rough morning?)

Beautiful location and amazing service! Highlights: My group was seated outside as the sun was setting, making for beautiful views. I did not think I would find a location with crab cakes that rivaled those found at Chart House, but Nico's Crab Cake Burger proved me wrong! Definitely worth it! One thing I would say needs improvement is the chairs used for the outdoor seating. They're too large/deep, but adding cushions may make them more comfortable and not as awkward to sit in. Overall a great experience; I will be back again!

Perfect place to hang out prior to a big flight out of Honolulu. The poke was so fresh, delicious and not over priced! The staff was super friendly and helpful to get me a bar seat since I was alone. Live music and great sunset views. I'm sure their fish market is also tip notch.

Of course you come for the ambiance and super relaxed atmosphere and food! Friendly wait staff, breakfast and lunch is nice freestyle dining with affordable breakfast choices. Best mochi I've had. Been in the past and disappointed that poke bar is opened later at 10am they were open earlier pre-Covid.

After seeing reviews about this place on a few "must eat here lists" we decided that we must eat here and see if it lives up to the hype. Upon entering the restaurant, which is easily accessible and located along the pier, which makes for a great views if you snag a seat along the edge of the restaurant, which we did. We enjoyed live music during the lunch hour with our lunch of the fish burger and cheeseburger. Both were very delicious with high quality ingredients. The vibe of the restaurant of mellow and relaxing with an upbeat feel

Wait time to be seated was over an hour for party of 8. Make reservations a week in advance when traveling to Oahu, Hawaii during the summer. Food was good but the vibe is what deserves 5 stars. There was a performer (Kimo Artis) played the ukulele with nice voice. The restaurant’s website has a calendar of who will be performing. It’s a restaurant on the pier and customer service was great.

Casual, dining with great views of the boats docked at the Pier. Off the main drag of Waikiki, the fish is fresh, filling and so yummy. Try the seafood stew or clam chowder in a bread bowl, was so rich and creamy!! Definitely a must stop if you are visiting Honolulu!

Met a gorgeous gentleman that is native, taught me about the area. This was favorite restaurant for seafood. Ahi Tuna is a must. My companion got the pasta. It looked so good I bought it to go for dinner. No disappointment. Friendly staff makes fab drinks! Thank you..my first stop and would go back if ever in Oahu.

Atmosphere here was great, cool attentive waitress , oh and live music, the man played guitar, sang and cracked jokes, food arrived in timely manner and it all tasted great. Short ribs and the pork belly was moist ,and had flavor. Meat portions of the two I mentioned is enough for 2 so if they allow, try sharing a plate (we didn't ask because we are greedy, well I am lol) I was craving the hawaiian plate (kalua pig) but it's only served Fridays. Prices are very reasonable for such a great space w. Free entertainment There's indoor and outdoor seating and a parking lot. They were super nice because my party of 4 stayed way past closing, which we honestly didn't realize, and no one said a word or complained to us at all. As soon as we realized we left with huge apology to the team, who I'm sure was so tired and so over us but they never showed it, super nice people. Oh yes, we then after partied in their parking lot. Every single car and person was gone. Great time.

Always love going here with my ohana. The service is always top notch, great atmosphere, sometimes featuring live music. Like to go there in the evening during dinner time. It is a nice relaxing environment and vibe. The food is very delicious. Their desert is even tastier!

Ate as a family on our last evening in Honolulu. We sat outside and watched the boats and ships come and go or get unloaded. The Kids got virgin drinks, we got a bloody Mary and lava flow. As appetizers we ordered fish bites and the orange chicken. For the meal, fish & chips, grilled swordfish, spicy crab burger, shrimp scampi and a cheeseburger were ordered. We did not have to wait too long for them all to come out. Everyone enjoyed their meal, some more than others but there were no complaints. The food was prepared and presented well and the server was attentive.

Saturday evening was decently crowded. We had a wait of 20 mins. We were then quickly seated at the outdoor tables. The service was alright. For appetizers, we had the fish bites and it felt like a mixed batch of fresh and frozen/older fish pieces were served on our plate. Not impressed. The lomi tomatoes were quite tasty though. We also had the crab cake burger with fries and it was delicious! The fries were hot 'n enjoyable!

Been here many times and never disappointed. It can be busy, we had a 45 minute wait. Gotta try the furikake encrusted Ahi, it’s their signature dish. Decided to try their Bouillabaisse this time. Not bad, but since my mom used to make what I consider the best Bouillabaisse, my expectations are high. Mom would say, “we’re having fish head soup”. Years later I realize that it’s Bouillabaisse. We were poor and fish heads were cheap.

Great affordable food and live music with friendly service. Can even leave with a souvenir t-shirt! It looks to me that it is built into a fish 🐟 market so seafood is fresh fresh fresh!!!

Oh my, this restaurant well worth the stop. Food was awesome. Drinks were strange but we tried most of them. Parking a little tricky but it is there if you look. They don’t start the dinner menu till 5pm but they have appetizers and drinks prior to that. So eat drink and be merry!! The server was top notch. He was very friendly and very helpful. We had the Marlin.

Great location on the pier, check the weather first if you're dining outside. We got caught in a short 10 min rain with wind but it cleared up fast. The food is delicious! I ordered the Herb Dijon salmon salad, everything on it was delicious! My friend ordered the roasted garlic chicken salad, I had a bite and that too was delicious! Other friend ordered the shrimp scampi look amazing, didn't try it though. The service is beyond amazing as well! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We arrived a little early for dinner and there was no wait for inside or outside dining. They were very efficient in checking IDs and vaccination cards and we were seated quickly and told they have a 90 minute dining time due to capacity restrictions. Our waiter was very prompt and kept good tabs on our drinks. My husband had the ahi tuna dinner and I had the Pesto Chicken Ceasar. He really enjoyed his dinner. My chicken was kinda saucy, but I'm not going to hold that against a seafood restaurant. The prices are very reasonable, especially for this area. I definitely recommend and would return if we make it back to the area.
