One of the absolute fresh sushi I’ve ever had. This restaurant used to be a fishmarket that’s been converted into a restaurant. Don’t expect no boo type ambience but fish is the freshest you can get. The price is reasonable but it’s solid value for the quality that you get. As other reviews of said this restaurant is in an industrial area it doesn’t look like anything worth entering. Even after you enter you will still wonder if you made the right decision. All of that will be put aside once you taste your first sushi. This really good location if you land in Honolulu and want to get a quick bite.

We looked at the reviews and thought to give it a try and it’s worth it. The fish is so fresh! They have less rice with the rolls, which make it even better. I came back again on Valentine’s Day. The sushi was still fresh and we tried the lobster and oysters. Now lobster and oysters are our favorite dishes as well. I just really love the fresh fish they have here. So great!

We came here for an anniversary and the sushi was so fresh and delicious. We ordered 2 sets and some ala carte items. Some items we would definitely get again is the lobster van van, Toro sushi and the oysters. The place is a little small but the decor was nice and modern. The staff were friendly and the only thing that would have been a wrinkle was they forgot not to add the masago (fish eggs) on our bowl due to an allergy. Location may not be the best, but the food makes it worth it to go. Overall a great time and we would come back again.

Don’t understand why they charge what they charge for the food. Yes the fish was fresh but there is zero effort put into decoration, experience and service comparing to some other options. The whole place still looks like a fish market instead of a decent sushi restaurant. Loved the uni, and all the sushi. Hated the oysters and grill lobster.

Wow, some of the freshest sashimi I've had outside of Japan, and definitely the best on the island. Traditional plates, rolls, and grilling, nothing fancy like the Americanized rolls everywhere else. Nice to be able to come to a place that just focuses on quality and presentation rather than flashy sushi rolls. Omakase menu is even available. Conveniently located right outside the airport and next to hotels. Excellent servers that are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Wow what an amazing find! Mitch’s at first seems like a small fish market but inside is an oasis of fresh, delicious sushi straight from Japan! Very friendly and accommodating staff, open to giving recommendations for things to do in the area. Must try!

Im visiting from LA, & this is literally the best sushi I’ve ever had. I ordered 6 raw oysters, omakase & the 10 piece sushi. The omakase was $185, but SO delicious. To be honest, I wish I’d ordered 2 omakases instead of the 10 piece. The 10 piece was okay, but the omakase was incredible. The oysters were also VERY fresh & top notch. Parking was also pretty easy. I made a reservation online the morning of, & I was seated right away!

my dear friend introduced me to Mitch's Fish Market and it's such a little hidden gem it's quite easy to find , once you know what you're looking for. Closer to the airport than anything, it's located off of Sand Island Access Road We ordered the Omakase (chef's choice/speciality) and enjoyed the delicious, wonderfully - thoughtfully prepared meal The restaurant is nice and cool (A/C) and the seating is very socially distanced at more than 6ft apart from each other. Service was excellent 👌!!

I can’t believe I had the opportunity to dine here. I showed up right at opening on a Sunday after reading how hard it was to get seated without reservations, but I was lucky enough to be seated right away! I ordered their oysters, uni, amaebi, and chirashi. Some of the freshest sushi I’ve had and it did not disappoint. It’s a ways away from the touristy Waikiki and nearby the airport, so if anyone has an opportunity to come here, I would highly recommend.

Fresh fish but sushi rice was not holding up well. Hamachi Kama was juicy and nicely grilled. Very noisy dining experience because it’s right next to the kitchen sink. Kind of privy to justify the mediocre total dining experience.

I called them last minute on Monday to see if they have any availabilities for Tuesday night. Unfortunately they were fully booked but they were able to accommodate the two of us. They don't have omakase apparently so we just ordered ala carte. We started with the chef choice sashimi omakase with 6 fish. The toro was good but still could be defrosted a little more. I considered other omakase places I tried in town to be half frozen so this was 1/3rd frozen . Better than those outside but still could be better. And yes as other reviews mentioned, their cuts are thicker also. All the pieces were ok but the salmon was really good! Literally melted in my mouth. Then we ordered a few pieces ala carte. The scallops also could be more defrosted so this was also about 1/3rd frozen. Uni was great and creamy. Ikura was also good. This toro piece was better but a tad veiny. The abalone was interesting....I have also had softer ones. But this was pretty crisp. The liver that came w it tasted a tad gamy, the ponzu sauce and scallion ginger helped but still not my favorite. The seared toro was very nice and melted in the mouth. (Again fully defrosted/cooked vs not thawed enough). The maguro was also 1/3rd frozen so didn't melt. The fluke fin was interested but very veiny and chewy (hard to disintegrate when you bite) Overall I would come back for the salmon and perhaps if we buy the platter and let it thaw a tad more to room temp, more pieces would melt in the mouth. It's better than sushi ginza onedera though for the price. Quality is pretty similar.

2nd visit to Mitch’s and it’s easily one our favorite restaurants in Honolulu. You can always count on them to serve the most fresh and wide variety of fish sashimi, almost Kitsuji like! And don’t forget to BYOB🍺

Took my family here to celebrate a birthday. The staff was very friendly and immediately offered an ice bucket for our drinks because it is byob. The food came out quickly and the tables were nicely spaced out. Based on other reviews we ordered the lobster van van and to our surprise it was on special for the day so it was almost half off. We also ordered the hamachi Kama which was phenomenal. The toro and salmon skin were our absolute favorites that we had multiple rounds of those. This was a very nice lowkey restaurant that they will cater to anything you may need. Parking was easily available in front and on the street as well. We will definitely be returning soon!

Went with partner, partner’s parents and grandfather at the very beginning of January. The staff was friendly and accommodating of grandpa’s walker. The place was nicely decorated, still had a Christmas tree near the door and all that. We ordered a LOT of food for the five of us but it was all fresh & super delicious so that’s probably why we kept ordering more haha. At the end of the night, my partner’s parents and grandfather each pulled out a credit card and let our server pick at random. She was a good sport, said sorry to the “winner” (grandpa!). All in all, this place was such a good time! Would def come again!!

Felt like we were at a FAST FOOD chain. The server gave us a VERY RUSHED dining experience when we were the ONLY TABLE. Came here for a family lunch on Sunday, and we were the only table out of the entire restaurant. The four of us ordered a few rounds of sushi, and as soon as we stopped ordering more rounds, they asked us to cash out. We were only there for 30 MINUTES then, and we were still eating! It felt like they were rushing us out when we were the only table here (no need to turn tables or anything!). It was poor service having spent about $200. My family was happy with the fresh food at first, but very disappointed in the service at the end. This service makes it no different than dining at a FAST FOOD chain.

Buried in the recesses of Honolulu's industrious area is the hidden treasure called Mitch's. Wandering up to this place, you may think Maps has the address wrong. Have faith and go forth, and you'll be rewarded with some of the most satisfying cuisine you'll ever encounter.

This is a real sushi 🍣 restaurant. No Safeway sushi filled with immatation crab and cucumber. Everything tasted so fresh. Many options. Dining in is available, BYOB. Be sure to bring your pocket book because you get what you pay for and the tab can add up depending on how many people. Definitely recommended, make a reservation in advance.

11/1/2022: Popped in for lunch on a Tuesday. No line, quick seating for 2. It is on the pricey side, however, their selection is very good. Very fresh. Lots of locals go here. BYOB so it's easy to sit and enjoy food and company. Really friendly crew, prompt service.

I had to only rate this place four stars. The sushi on the menu was excellent. It was high-quality, and the sashimi was some of the best I’ve had in a very long time. So, why rate it four stars instead of five? Simply because of the lack of variety. There are no special rules here – not even a “rainbow roll,” which is one of my favorites due to the variety of fish it typically comes with. The price was what I would consider “above average,“ but not “premium.“ Convenient location near the airport if you were on your way out of town.

Can’t complain!! Fresh seafood, decent service. A bit pricy but acceptable cuz the food quality is awesome. I liked abalone sashimi over grilled abalone. Grilled lobster was juicy and chewy. Loved giant clam!! Loved evening. Would have given 6 stars if there were.

Quality sushi and seafood. They don't serve liquor but you are free to bring your own booze to drink as you want. The price is high but that's consistent with the quality of fish. They aren't worried of ambience as you come here for the fresh fish and sushi.

This place is something else. It looks suspect from the outside and even as you first enter your wondering if you made the right decision. But when the food arrives you realize you picked the right spot. Their sushi menu lacks any fancy designer rolls - but what they serve is outstanding, some of the best around. You can get a lot of options that you won't find at many places, at least not all at the same place. Don't forget it's BYOB. Oh yeah, and the Wasabi. Legit.

Super fresh hamachi sashimi that melted in my mouth! So sooooo good, we got another order. Everything else was good too, so definitely coming back to try more! Note, this restaurant is a bit far off the beaten path, but well worth it. You can dress casual. The restaurant is large with many different rooms, but does fill up quickly. We had reservations for 3 at 6:00 p.m. on a holiday weekend... so glad we did because by the time we left the restaurant, it was jam-packed! Service was impeccable by Chad; he was very accommodating and always delivered everything with a smile! Quality of sashimi and other items were delicious. I definitely will be back!!

Summary: Outside looks rundown, inside is nice. Everything was delicious, only thing was they're limited on what they have that day. Items: We got a 10 pc sashimi platter, miso salmon (cooked), and grilled hamachi kama which is the yellowtail collar. ~$95 with tip Notes: Everything is super fresh, really delicious. Scallops were super sweet, tuna just melted, quality cuts of fish. Miso salmon was sweet, savory, and saucy. Hamachi kama was huge. Delicious on its own, wished they gave salt on the side but I'm just like to eat a bit more salty. The only 2 things I gotta say is the outside is a bit intimidating because it looks very run down but the inside is just like any regular, clean, dimly-lit restaurant. Second note is that they have limited supply of ingredients and for whatever reason, they didn't have the any abalone (sashimi or grilled) and no grilled scallops. But based on what we ate, everything's delicious.
