They wouldn't allow me to just use the bathroom. At all!! I just feel really annoyed and felt discriminated by that check in lady. Wasn't helpful at all. I literally had an accident in my dress because she wouldn't allow me to use the bathroom. Very rude, not helpful at all!! Would not recommend this place!!! Sometimes people just need to use the bathroom, she should understand, she is a woman and she didn't even try to help me. Why work for a place that suppose to help people in need and you just refuse to help me.

Stay away from this rundown, poorly run hospital. They can't even manage phone calls. My mother , unfortunately, is in and out of hospitals and rehab , she is a good patient. But Kuakini was very upsetting to her. Bad communication! Very strange place, like in another decade!

Everyone will warn you that you have to be careful with everything thing you do. It’s like being in high school. I repeat if you are black, white, or Hispanic be careful working here.

My mother got admitted and the 2nd day there, I called and she said she had been waiting on her nurse for more than 15 minutes and my mother is capable of handling herself going to the restroom at home but because she was on meds that didnt want her to get off her bed herself, she had to ring a nurse for help. Anyways, my mother told me and i had to call the nurse station just to get a hold of her nurse and give her a piece of my mind.. my mom got discharged today and she told me after I made that call, a lady rushed in, not her nurse and told her why she told me that they weren't assisting her, mind you my mother can't speak but she understands. First and last my mother ever gonna go there. I remeber her nurse name but I ain't gonna say.

Best hospital emergency room experience ever! While visiting family on Oahu with my elderly mom, she took a nasty fall that necessitated a call to 911. EMT's showed up fairly quick, worked their triage magic and helped me to calm down because as you can imagine, I was just a little stressed, to say the least. Since the Kuakini Medical Center was literally next door to where we were staying, this is where the EMT’s took us. At Kuakini mom was cared for by primary nurse Patricia (RN) and treating physician Dr. Timothy Wilson. It was a fairly quiet ER that night and perhaps this had something to do with the level of care mom received but I was impressed nonetheless. Her team was caring, sensitive and super attentive. I have never had an emergency room experience like this one and believe me, as a caregiver to a senior with balance problems and other health issues, I have been in plenty of ER’s. The whole team who treated my mom, those who ran the EKG, took the x-rays, completed her CAT scan, drew her blood, and attended to her from start to finish, they all showed themselves to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. They worked really well together. Kudos to this hospital’s management team for making good hires and obviously making for a satisfying work environment. I highly recommend this medical center. (Mom was badly bruised with no broken bones and most importantly, no traumatic head injury.)

Worst expierence ever. My wife came in here with heart problems, with a last of many heart surgery and she has YET to have not even one doctor help her. While one room over, a guy was brought in after her and helped and treated before her with a LESSER issue. We're still here. Waiting and waiting. For some kind of damn help.

First time being here and being in the E.R on the island of Hawaii. I was brought on by the EMTs (thanks EMTs!!), so I didn't have to wait long for help. The nurses were super helpful and friendly, as well as the doctors. They helped with the paperwork, and explained to me what I was signing, instead of just telling me to just sign. Once the doctor asked his questions, and did his test, he ordered a blood test, chest cat scan, and other tests, and I was fairly surprised by how quick everyone was there to do the testing's. I was here from 5pm to 12am. I stayed that longer because I needed blood and I have profound respect for people who donate blood (Thank you donors!). Also, thanks to nurse Lehua and nurse Julie for making this experience easy and the doctors. Thank you!

Went to the ER with difficulty breathing. The ER staff was great and very professional. They explained everything that was happening to me and eased my fear. I was admitted and had a 13 day stay in the hospital. I would like to say the nursing staff on Makai 4 was awesome. They were really what Kuakini's statement of " Caring Is Our Tradition" is all about. Thanks to all the great staff on CCU also the respiratory team, the blood draw staff, and all the great doctors that were there for me all the way to the day I discharged. Mahalo Kuakini Health Systems you're hospital is the best. Other hospitals can have the most beautiful pictures, wood floors and fancy decor but Kuakini has the best patient care.

Really friendly staff. Had no problem with my procedure here, except I got poked 3 times in my arm before they finally found the vein. This hospital has old/outdated equipment. Easy to get lost as maps and signs are unclear. Quality of food was subpar. I know hospitals are usually not known for their food, but comparing to others I've been to, I can say it's subpar...

Had to have an emergency surgery and picked this place from Google, and so glad I did. The staff are excellent, the surgeon and doctors, and the nurses! They gave me a semi-private room (but no roommate so very nice) and one thing in particular is they LISTEN to patients and if you are uncomfortable with something they either don't do it or find an alternative. Got admitted quickly and Dr. Striker, my surgeon, is as good as it gets. Highly recommend, even if the general experience of needing surgery and a long hospital stay is never fun :). Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff for nearly 5 days of round-the-clock care!!

Everyone is very kind and helpful. It's an older building and not very modern but the history and art work is amazing!

Wife went to the Kuakini Clinic and received great service. Very efficient. We were seen immediately and completed our walk-in appointment in about 30 minutes. Much appreciation!

Called for a new appointment and the women “helping” me was immediately rude and bluntly uninterested. She turned me away for not taking my insurance. Then proceeded to say that no other practice would take my (very common) insurance. Im disappointed that this practice was a recommendation from a different doctor.

Called on Monday, March 7 at approximately 1 PM… After waiting for while the operator came on… We weren’t sure where our call needed to be directed so we briefly explained that we needed to pick up x-rays from a recent injury at the emergency room… She abruptly cut us off and rudely said “we don’ hello… I don’t need all that information“ I disconnected… When we finally got in touch with “Imaging“ that employee was extremely professional pleasant and accommodating… This is the second time I have experienced a rude operator management needs to do something about it because there are many people out there who need jobs and will be much more pleasant thank you! Remember… You are working and customer service

The person at Emergency Room front desk was very rude and unkind. When you are worried about a loved one, a little compassion would be nice, instead of being ignored and treated like you are bothering them!

Aloha Kuakini Hospital, Just wanted to say how grateful I am to have gone through surgery at your facility! When I found out that my surgeon here on Kauai was unable to do a ostomy take down procedure due to my myasthenia gravis and the complexity of it, I was terrified that I would have to go to Oahu to have it done. 😵‍💫 After meeting with my recommended surgeon, Dr Michael Rao, he immediately knew that I was terrified about this operation and that he was able to calm my nerves and said "everything will be alright". And let me tell you that from then on, it was smooth sailing!!🙂 Upon checking in on the day of my surgery (March 30th), I was greeted with aloha from the lady at the check in station who then directed me to the ambulatory to prep me for surgery. There, the team gave me a warm friendly welcome and wasted no time in preparation for surgery. I wish I remembered all the names to thank them all!🙂 After that, they wheeled me in to the surgery room where I layed there looking at so many of Dr Rao's team and thinking 🤔 wow, Im definitely in good hands!! I remembered right before they gave me the anesthesia, I was listening to Christopher cross, "sailing" that was playing in the background that soothed my soul and before the song ended, I was out cold and 12 hours later, woke up in the critical care unit with tubes down my throat. Sorry Nurse Koji if I gave you a hard time! At first I thought you were a doctor and I was in a panic to get the tubes out of me!😲 Thank you for being so patient with me! Nurse Koji took great care of me at night and during the day time, had the most beautiful, warm hearted and caring nurse anyone could ever wish for. Her name is Miki Tonaki. Thank you so much Miki for taking excellent care of me while in the CCU!! It's the little things that you do what makes a patient smile like slicing my papaya for me at breakfast.😊 You clearly show how much you love and care for your patients because of your warm hearted soul! 🙏♥️🤗 After they moved me out of the CCU, I moved twice to different rooms of the hospital to recover. Wish I could remember the rest of the nurses names but thank you all who took great care of me!! Others whom I would like to thank is all the nurses aids, the doctors who came to check up on me on a daily basis, the "vampires" who took blood works without any complications, Darryl Ching who took the time out to accommodate my wife and I a place to stay during my surgery, the food servers who came to deliver each meal with a smile and hats off to all the chefs at Kuakini for making excellent meals each day from liquid diets to solid onolicious meals!!😋 Was Soo good that I forgot I was in a hospital! 🤣 Most of all, thank you Dr Rao for a smooth sailing surgery! I would highly recommend anyone who would go through similar surgery to go through him! Also, thankyou Jan, Lei and the rest of your team up on the 5th floor infusion center for taking care of me twice to do my IVIG treatment and making me feel comfortable during those times.🙏♥️ Thank you Dr Kimata, my neurologist at Kuakini for my ongoing care for my myasthenia gravis!🙏♥️ Thank you Kuakini Hospital for the excellent services you provide! You saved my life twice! The first time was when I was six years old, my mother found me playing with an empty bottle of st.joseph aspirin which I had gotten from her medicine cabinet and crunched it down like candy! My parents rushed me to Kuakini Hospital to have it pumped out of me. Later on they came to pick me up and found me following a cute nurse going in and out of the patient rooms. 😂 I also thank my heavenly father each day for allowing me to continue to live on this beautiful earth 🌎 Mahalo nui and Aloha!! 🙏♥️🤗
