It pains me to only be able to give 1 star. My prior visits these last 20 years were exceptional. Staff shortages, inadaquet covid protocols left me feeling more endangered than ever. ER physician was the most arrogant non caring individual. I will consider other options in the future before choosing to come to QMC for any necessary treatment.

Had the worst experience ever in the Emergency dept today with nurse Sheila. Sad to say coming from an experienced nurse myself. There was no compassion as we nurses swear an oath to going into this profession. Even coming from an island with only one hospital. We do not treat our patients as such, ever. The CNA/ED tech was more helpful and sympathetic. I understand how busy it is and having short staff. But nurses like Sheila should change profession. This is why patients and their families/friends act a certain way towards us medical professionals.

Debbie K. The Doctors and Nurses were all nice and took good care of me. The Doctor came to see me everyday to see how I was doing. The Nurses were all nice and took good care of me. Whenever I needed something and pressed the Nurse bell they came fast to check in on me and helped me with what I needed. Every once in awhile they would stop by to see how I'm doing. I would tell my family no need to worry I am being well taken care of. If you want the best care Queens Hospital. You will be taken care with loving hearts and caring hands. I was...

Queens is very unprofessional in how they handle their employees. Especially their travel Nurses. My mom is a RN of over 10 yrs and has worked at one of the top trauma centers here in our home state. She was hired with Prolink for a travel assignment here to start this month and with no warning, or explanation, Queens terminated her contract. She is working tirelessly to get answers through her recruiters but to no avail yet. She has spend thousands of dollars to relocate which involves housing and shipping her car just to be left without a job or explanation. This is very Unprofessional and I will continue to leave one star until we get a response from the respected unit.

Literally one of the worst hospitals I have been to in my life. I was in the ER and they left me in the hallway the entire time and said “there aren’t rooms available but people that came in after me got a room before I did and some weren’t even sick or plugged up into machines. They wanted to keep me overnight in a hallway outside of a COVID patient room. The doctor told me I needed a blood transfusion and I had a horrible reaction to it, it was so bad that they had to stop it the transfusion altogether. I’m very concerned and I’m following up with my primary care doctor. I fear that blood was not cleaned and my health has been compromised. nurses were not attentive, then I receive a letter in the mail two weeks later saying that I have been exposed to Covid 19. Covid patients should be isolated and away from general patients! No was following up with me, they ran all of these tests and I had to ask for my results. The IV they out in my hand end up giving me an infection and my hand and arm was swollen. If possible do not ever go to hospital I didn’t have any infections when I came in and I left with 3. This hospital needs to be closed down.

I came in with shortness of breath, chest pain, burning skin, and headache. I was there for 1 hour and was told I was going home to follow up with my primary. I had to wait for transportation to come and get because I am overweight and can't walk. I was also dizzy! I explained this to them it's charted on My Charts. I have Lupus as well. I was left on a bed in the hallway for 2 days. My ECG that the doctor quickly folded and didn't even look at. Indicated I was having a heart attack. I didn't even get 81mg of aspirin to help prevent the heart attack. For 2 days I was in the hallway having a heart attack and the ED did nothing. In fact all I heard was complaining from the staff about patients. Thank God I spoke to my primary care provider and he was like why didn't they admit you? Based upon the discharge information I should have been admitted to the hospital. The notes from the doctors, from the ED that they sent to my doctor I should have been admitted. I am calling a lawyer!

I just gave birth on may 5 2023. Before giving birth I repeated several times to the nurse not to give me Pitocin. After birth I was wondering why I was feeling like I was about to pass another baby. The disrespectful nurse switched my I’v tube from fluids to Pitocin without informing me also against my will after I said plenty of times not to. I know for a fact this hospital better get rid of these disrespectful nurses that have no regard for their patients wants/needs. If nothing is done they will be looking at a big lawsuit, I know I’m getting my paperwork done now.

The nastiest place on earth. More and more doctored are leaving and going back to the mainland. Walking through medical defectors to see a doctor is pathetic. Anyone you do see that works their are all burnouts. No education and very underpaid. If they were worth more then they would t work there. Articles show employees getting attacked by patients. Maybe they deserve it. LOL

I was transferred to the Queens emergency department from urgent care the other night. While I was initially hesitant with being sat outside next to the COVID isolation area, the workers were super nice and understanding when I chose to stand a good distance away from the actual seats. They even let my significant other stay with me the entire time! I was shocked, and ultimately very happy to not be forced to be alone. That initial seating worst part of my experience here, and ultimately I can't blame them with COVID cases being on the rise again (early June 2022, boo). From the start, my intake nurse was an incredibly kind women. I was very anxious that night (I really wasn't expecting to have urgent care tell me they wanted me at the ER), and she was super kind and patient. She got all of my information, and after I was seated in the hallway waiting for a room, she came back to the waiting area multi times to check on me and the other person who was under her care as we waited! She was so nice. Once I was taken into a room, the story stayed the same. All of my nurses were super nice. They talked me through everything, they were patient with me despite me being very very stressed out from circumstances. My main nurse had a nice sense of humor and really helped calm my nerves just by being a really great guy. Ended up getting a CAT scan, and everyone involved with that was just great. My doctor was the same way. Very nice, talked me through everything. Amazing experience. Thankfully everything turned out being okay. ER visit was mostly for the imaging services, which thankfully ended up showing that things weren't as bad as they could be, and they got me out pretty fast after everything was read. I came into the ER that night stressed and on the verge of an anxiety attack. The incredible nurses and technicians on duty that night helped me get through everything and calm me down. That was such a incredible staff, and my intake nurse even asked me how I was doing as I ws leaving! This is honestly the first time I have ever been to any ER and actually felt cared for and like I wasn't just bothering all of the staff. Thank you all.

Queen's Hospital has been there many times when I needed Her over the years. the most recent time when they saved my life due to indulgence of salt and sugar, and my life of living like i was still a teenager in my mid 60s...without naming names I want to thank the intensive care Nurses in the cardiac unit, the heart doctors that treated me and not least of all, the behind the scenes support staff in testing, finance, housekeeping, food service, and out patient care. It has been my first extra year, and to the Queen's Medical Center, I want to say Mahalo from the bottom of my still beating heart

Don't bother calling the Billing system phone line. They open at 8am-4pm. I've tried calling from 8am. Apparently they have a high volume of calls at that time, and the WHOLE day. Called 3x that yesterday, and was hold for 30-40mins each time, just waiting. So I left voice-mails for a call back each time. Nobody calls you back. I tried calling again today, left voice-mails again, and same thing. Maybe it's a bogus number, or they have a half-a-person working, or they are on a vacation for indefinitely. Such BS and bad customer service. Oh wait, maybe I shouldnt say that about the customer service, because there is NONE!

Queens Medical Center is the Nicest hospital I've ever know! Kind and approachable nursing staff. And especially their manager Mark Nickel. Very accommodating and a hard working person! May God bless all of you and thank you for taking care of all the patients well. I highly recommend this hospital! 😇

Highly suggest avoiding this hospital, went there at 2 am with a stomachs bug feeling completely awful. The nurses had no care in the world, they lost my urine and stool sample in a empty hospital!?!? They said it was just food poising and I shouldn’t worry even though my wife said it had to be a bug and the plan they put me on might not be appropriate. Well a day later wife getting the same symptoms and when I called for what the correct plan should be for their misdiagnosed they told me to just come in and they can’t consult over the phone. Absolutely ridiculous team there I encountered who are clueless.

Emergency department Charge nurse Eric Palacol must be reprimanded and his unethical and unprofessional behavior reassign our kind hearted 101 year old tutu and aunt. They simply and kindly asked about treatment and a plan to treat our gravely Ill tutu after she spent 12 hours without receiving treatment of a definitive plan and when they politely asked to speak with the medical supervisor after 12 hours without treatment (which ultimately led to her death) he threatened to have security remove them. Queens must stop this practice of threatening patients and their family members with removal by security simply for kindly inquiring about treatment or requesting to speak with supervisors when someone is on their death bed He and other staff members there that engage in this unethical medical practice must be terminated or retrained And if local news agencies won’t do stories on this archaic practice then we request that national news agencies step in and prevent this sort of subhuman treatment of 101 year old severely disabled Covid patients who die because of inhumane medical practices

I went to the emergency room today because I have recently been having a lot of overwhelming symptoms that are affecting my day to day life, and my PCP recommended I go to the ER if they persist or get worse before the specialist she’s referred me to is able to see me- and today brought me to them. I just want to say thank you to Dr. Cheng for the level of care I received, and he’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. I have a poor genetic history of ailments in my family and the severity of the symptoms I’m experiencing, their frequency, how many at once have been affecting my day to day, and knowing my family history has caused a reasonable amount of stress and fear for me. Dr. Cheng thoroughly listens to you, takes everything you say into account, and takes time to very thoroughly explain his processes and what certain things sounds like. He was nice enough to show me some stuff he was discussing with me on the computer screen so that I could both visually see and better understand what he was discussing. He went ahead and ordered a ct scan for me and other tests so we can start the process of elimination of what it could be. He was also kind enough to switch out medications that weren’t working for me, and to give me pain relievers that will last me until I am in the hands of the specialist. I trust his opinion and analysis, and am grateful he listened as well as he did and had those tests done because it really helped with my anxiety and narrowed down the pool of what could be causing my symptoms. This is definitely someone who was meant to be a doctor and work in healthcare. With the pain management and reduced anxiety, I feel a lot better waiting for my MRI scan at the end of the month and continuing further evaluation and care with the specialist team going forward. I was also impressed with the minimal wait times I experienced. I came in in the middle of the day on a Monday and was promptly seen by everyone, and everyone was so so nice especially the older gentleman who sees you out with your prescription orders and paperwork, he is a funny guy. I never think to leave reviews for anyone or anywhere but I did today because their care has helped me both physically with the pain, and psychologically with the amount of stress and fear I have been feeling. It’s a process of elimination and you eliminated a lot! Thank you!!

I've been trying for 5 days now to get an answer to "where did this eligible charge come from" and have yet to find anyone at Queens who can actually assist me. I had an appointment on Monday that I had to cancel because I couldn't get a straight answer. First I tried the billing department on Friday and they said they'd call me back. They never did. I called them back today and they had no record of me calling and being promised a callback. So I've been waiting 5 days for nothing. Then I was transferred to some person's voicemail and I couldn't tell what her name was so I don't know what department she's from. Doubtful she'll call me back. The operator did not tell me where she was sending me so I have no way to follow up on this one. Then I was instructed to call the sleep center, so I did, and they also said they couldn't help me. They don't check CPT code eligible charges. That's not their job. The last attempt I have at getting this information is through their "intake department" and I have no idea if that'll be successful. The woman on the phone is also confused. She also promised me a callback. Will I call back in 3 days only to find out no promised callback was ever logged on my account? Probably. All I'm looking for is how they got an eligible charge for a certain CPT code. It's not from the insurance company. I had that code run and it's a different charge with standard providers. They are unable to check the fee with this provider if it's a non-standard contract and the answer must come from Queens itself. And yet here I am 7 phone calls, 4 departments, 1 voicemail, and 2 promised callbacks later and nobody can answer "where did this eligible charge come from? Who gave it to you? Did you make it yourself?" This is absurd. If someone from Queens wants to call me, the Sleep Center and like 3 other departments have my contact info. Please call me back with an answer. Thanks.

I suggest giving a map to visiting patients. It is too difficult to navigate what seems like the Winchester house expanse. Although people try to help with a smile it was 7th person that sent us to the correct neurology office door. Signage is very poor. Although it tells you what is in the front of you it does not tell you what is around the corner because every corridor looks the same. It might also be a good idea to mark the floor like the roads so we know if the hall is a thoroughfare or dead end. Dead end usually resulted in a restricted area. For this reason I suggest giving a map with directions upon entry. I saw at least 5 people asking for directions, frustrated and shaking their head.

Attention - astronomical charges await you - 1 minute = 200$ !!!! I have visited a doctor in the ER for a simple prescription to collect from CVS against insomnia - they measured my blood pressure asked a few questions and send me off after 10min - BILL for this $2155 - SERIOUSLY -and if you don’t pay they threaten you won’t get entry to the US, call the police and so forth. MAFIA methods, absolutely disgusting!!! They won’t tell you before too…they ask you to sign something and then just come back with a bill created by ‚the system‘

Malpractice - Nursing staff celebrated my self discharge after racially, religious persecution. Blatent disregard for basic safety. H. Oath violations everywhere. Denial of access to special medicines. INSURANCE FRAUD. Use of bleach in bathrooms (CHLORINE GAS EXPOSURE) Failure to clean blood and grime off tables/ everyday use items for admissions. Targeted harassment to deprive patients of sleep. Denial of water in the ER/ED. Allowed to leave with massive infection two times. Dr. Yanga needs to be incarcerated. US NAVY NEEDS TO SEIZE THE HOSPITAL (EMINENT DOMAIN)

I brought my dad into the ER (we were in town visiting family) and we had a great experience starting in the ER all the way through discharge from the hospital. The nurses and aides were exceptionally caring and the doctors took the time to speak with us and answer all questions. Very pleased with our discharge plans back to our hometown.

Sitting in Same Day Surgery Clinic and I must say that this is the friendliest visit to a hospital I have ever experienced. Not only have I been greeted 3x by various staff, I have listened to them all great each other with a smile and kind words. It is definitely appreciated in these hard times and it eases my nerves knowing there are happy people working here. Check in was easy and everyone is so filled with Aloha!

Took my mom to the ER. Check In desk for ER is located outside I guess due to them being so busy. Security asked if he we visiting or checking in and I told them we were checking in. Instead of asking what was the reason to check in or putting our name on the list, he just told us that they were busy and to have a seat on the row of chairs behind the lockers (which is really hard to see from the check in desk). He then process to tell the next two patients the same thing. Security then switched out with a different guy. A couple more people showed up and he then let them through without having them line up after us. I'm assuming the other guy didn't tell him the order people were coming in. I asked him about checking in again and let him know what we waited there longer than a few people that he let through. He apologized that the check in orders were currently messed up that someone well call us when it's our turn. The previous guy came back and started letting other people through to sit in the area that people are getting called in while webstill have to sit in the area that was 10 feet away and hard to see. I understand if people were being let in in the order of severity but they didn't bother asking for any information at all nor was there as proper sign in sheet to see who arrive first and so on. Decide to take my mom to another ER. Most of her doctors are at Queen so I thought if they needed her info it would be easier for them to pull it but I rather have the other ER request a transfer of informations at this point.

I had heart surgery here February 2023. While my surgery and care was good, dealing with the billing/financial assistance department has been hell. My insurance company didn’t cover $3k of my surgery, and I cannot afford that. Went back and forth with the billing and financial assistance department for SIX MONTHS, getting all the paperwork they need etc to deem me low income and have the remainder of my balance forgiven. Finally I get approved for Quest, in which case my balance is suppose to be forgiven in full, but they keep charging me, asking me to pay my monthly payments etc. tried to call maybe 7 times now and I just end up being on hold for an hour longer. Ask for a callback, no one calls you back. Leave a message, no one calls you back. There’s not even any way to contact the billing deptartment via MyChart. SO disappointing. (BTW, I had a similar situation at Straub, it only took them one month to sort everything out for me. Shame on you, Queens.)

The top notch staff at Queen's saved my life. In the space of a few hectic hours, I learned that I had a very serious thrombosis and was flown to Queen's from my home island. Once there I learned that I would require major surgery to root out all the clots that had split off from the main thrombus and ended up in my torso and legs. Both legs had to be amputated. I was alone until my son could fly over 2 days later, and I was anxious and frightened. The staff and doctors were wonderful. One nurse was impatient and rude during my whole stay. Considering the number of people working in such an enormous place, that is an excellent record. Anyone who has not had such a serious surgery can't imagine what the pain is like, let alone the grief and fear of facing life with no legs. My hope was as low as it has ever been, but there was such kindness and understanding shown to me by Dr. Kim, Dr. Koo and the entire team of caregivers that I just can't thank them enough.

I would give -0- stars if this program allowed me. Customer/patient follow-up and contact is very poor and intentional if not racially motivated. Hawaiian Telcom, Queens medical are two organizations that would benefit the public by agreeing to have a thorough audit by one of the Big Four auditing firms to return money to the customer/patient/insurance companies.

I’ve been watching trauma: life in the ER…. I must say Dr Gail Tominaga seems very unprofessional! She’s not only rude to her colleagues but has no compassion for the patients I’ve seen her treat! She apparently thinks her way is the only way! Maybe she should take into consideration others feelings & needs or better yet go back to where she came from!

I went in for severe back pain. I received excellent care from Dr. Suzuki and the 2 male RNs working in the ER that night. Radiology did a good job getting me in within a timely manner for a MRI. Thank you to all for the great care. The only negative I can say is the hospital needs to be udated to include additional space as I never had a room and was on a bed or wheelchair in the hallway. If there was a disaster in the area this place would be out of ideas as on a regular day they are already overflowed into the hallways.

Such a Great experience. QUEENS never fails in being the best on the Island. Visited the sleep center today. They emailed me clear instructions on how to arrive. They gave 2 options for parking, provided information on validation and how to get to the main building. 2 elevators in the parking garage provide a fast and efficent way down to the 1st floor. The 2 ladies that greet you at the temperature checj were so pleasant, i wore a material mask in and was provided a disposable as mines was not allowed. This made me feel very safe that everyone in the building had a good mask on. She gave me awesome instructions to get to Admissions. Admissions had to sweet ladies, as i sat in the wait room and observed they have the best customer service. Providing extra care to the Kupuna. They assisted them in grabbing a number, slowing down when talking and one of the ladies walked a patient to his destination so he wouldnt get lost. That alone is gold. I havent even made it to my appointment yet and im so pleased with my experience. Queens, safe, positive, and full of Aloha. When i think of Queens its the true Hawaii hospital.

Went there in pretty bad shape the urgent care was like out of a movie everything went so fast and so smooth the nurses and doctors was so caring and considerate i thought maybe I was dieing and they felt bad but they was legitimately just nice people the way the staff worked together was more advanced than I ever would have imagined I’ll be honest when I was ready to go I didn’t want to leave not because I wasn’t ready but it was just so nice being there I was a little blown away how I seen patients treat the nurses there and I don’t say this often but god bless those men and women they have nerves of steel and they was treated horribly by patients and would come to my room and treat me absolutely wonderful I was intrigued by how they could just let it go so easily I have a new outlook for the medical field I don’t want to get hurt again but I’d go there and stay anytime haha

Had a hysterectomy four days ago at the same day surgery and everyone was so kind. From the front desk to the nurses that took care of me after. Gerry was one of the nurses that went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I can't remember the young lady that took care of me after the surgery but she definitely made sure my pain was under control. I truly thank you for your kindness. 💕

Staff on all levels were not well trained or professional (from nurses to doctors). In particular, Trissy Chun MD should not be a licensed physician—incredibly poor quality patient care/experience, as I left in worse condition than I arrived. Her lack of empathy is only superseded by her ego and arrogance. She yelled at me and slammed the door in my face when I asked a few simple questions about next steps/treatment. I am being 100% serious when I say you are better off using WebMD.

The doctors here got our diagnosis right, but the hospital itself in the emergency room area is disgusting. The restrooms were very dirty, the floors are not clean. Wait times are very long, 8 hours to be seen for a blood clot, and they seem to be understaffed.

My doctor decided to leave Queen's and start own practice. During the move, the "MY CHART" software program was taken over by the staff of Queen's until the program connects to my doctor again. So I go into My Chart and order refill meds and I receive a reply of "order submitted to Tripler Medical Center". I go to Tripler, pick a number, and wait 2 hours only to hear that my order was not submitted. I call my new doctor's office and spoke with one of the nurses and she informed me that My Chart is not operational at this present time; therefore, they are manually submitting all prescriptions until they are fully operational. She also said that I'm not the only one being targeted of this fraud. The numbers are astounding, like in the 100s. I had high praise for this hospital for decades but not anymore. They resemble the left wing political party who condemns anyone they deem as a traitor.

Beware when your physician is on vacation. I had a CT scan scheduled for Friday. I was called by a Jenna from the Cardiology dept. She said the doctor wanted me to take a medication before the CT Scan. When she told me the name of it, I told her that I’m allergic to it. When I saw my regular physician, Dr. Khan, at my appointment we never discussed about this medication at my appointment. I told them i refuse to take a medication that I’m allergic to. They keep insisting and I kept saying no. Then they turn it around by saying why are you yelling well because wouldn’t you be upset they forcing you to take this medicine after you said no. She said well it’s not the medicine I was taking but a medication with the same name but different. I find out my regular doctor Dr Khan is on vacation and the doctor who’s covering Dr.Chowdhury requested I take this. The irony of this is that Dr Chowdhury was the person who took me off this medication due to heart complications. I asked them why do I have to take this medicine? They said my heart rate was elevated but I told her nobody mentioned this at my appointment. I told them this doesn’t feel right. So I told them I was going to cancel my CT appointment. Then Dr Lindsey calls me to tell me they’re giving me a different medicine. I told her no. Then she too said why am I yelling on the phone, I just hung up.

The emergency room was the worst employees in all the emergency I have been before. Every time we were there we always checked in with the person by the name of Amy. This lady will check you in and you can not ask her question her respond to all your questions will be (I do not know) they will hold you up in emergency room for hours even though you are shot of breath. This lady will be walked by by us and we will ask her question she will do her favorite answer ,I do not know while walking away never stop and answer your question. I believe this nurse hate her job cause it is not only us experience this situation from her it is a lot of people came in and I was watching her and she was doing the same thing to the others.

My sister trying to go in to give birth and this hospital is telling he not to come her stepson mom told her that this place is shady and and she works for them in the pharmacy with they are because when I was sent there because I was banged they were telling my family to pull the plug on me because I would not make it well I did make it and I’m living today making a lot of progress that I had an incident where I had to go back to Queens to a different part of the hospital, and they chose to be nicer so it’s different parts of the hospital different nurses different doctors. There are totally rude and they are very shady.

I got hit by a car and fractured my pelvis so I was here for a month. Later I was transferred to rehab of the Pacific. I have previously been admitted to Straub and was happy with the food there But let me tell you the food at Queens hospital was outstanding. Fresh fish daily available if it's your choice and how you want it prepared. Fresh fruits and vegetables properly cooked not overdone and mushy, so many choices, fresh salads. I wouldn't be offended if a boy took me on a date here. Pot roast you can cut with a fork. Don't skip the Miso soup with seaweed and tofu or the squash soup both available daily. Fantastic. Chef's kiss 😘! The staff was great the food arrived warm. It's fine dining every day. Do Not go to rehab hospital of the Pacific on Kuakini and expect to eat the food there was awful. Nice people but terrible food. If you have an extended stay the medical staff is top notch at Queens. Come for the injury stay for the food.👍👍👍👍
