I have taken my animals to Kalihi Pet Clinic for years. Dr Lau was down-home, efficient, thorough and amazing! Dr Obara is friendly, but his system is set up like a high speed Dr's office. I don't like having to speak only to a tech. I'm paying for a Dr ($1300 in the last week alone) I want to speak with the Dr. Only after insisting, did I get that courtesy/privilege... The velocity of their business creates mistakes. I have been given incorrect info and instructions from not only the young techs but also the Dr's assistant... Each time it was for someone else's animal, not mine. I have received meds for other animals, and billed for animals that are not mine. Everyone can make a mistake, but the double-check system is lacking here.

Wow…I used to love this clinic, but it has really gone downhill. When my dog was bleeding from a mass on her abdomen a couple of months ago they gave an outrageously expensive quote and said they were not able to fix her for 2-3 weeks. I ended up getting it done at another clinic. Today I purchased flea medication costing nearly $80 for one 3 month dose and it took three days to prepare the order. In the past their prices were more or less comparable to online prices, so I try to support local businesses instead of online merchants. I have learned my lesson. I was told there is a new doctor here so that may the reason for the horrible service. I do not recommend this clinic.

This place is happening. The staff is on it like no tomorrow. Very busy but at least the customers are very satisfied when they leave. You drop off your pet and then pick them up when there done. Very friendly staff. This is my first time ever going to take my dogs to the vet and so far so good. Really good job guys. Keep up the good work.

We've been taking our pup here since we adopted him 8 years ago. Very friendly staff and vet will always talk you through everything regarding our fur baby.

The professional and personable care, advice and treatment for both our pit bulls were amazing. Everyone - I mean everyone on the Doctors staff is friendly, engaging and attentive to my dogs needs - and mine too :) the Doc is awesome. Super awesome. You just gotta experience them to believe.

I want to give a special thanks to the Kalihi Pet Clinic team. I moved earlier this month to Texas and brought my beagle with me. On the day of the flight it turned out I was missing an important breed verification document and would not be able to ship my dog without it. Thankfully I was several hours early and was able to email the Kalihi Pet Clinic team and get the document emailed over within 30-60 minutes, and I was able to get my dog on the flight. Thank you all for your continued care and the speedy turnaround on that vital document for the flight, and I will happily recommend this team to my ohana on island.

Dr Obara and his staff are wonderful. They truly care about your pet's needs and try to keep the costs to a minimum. I was previously using another veterinary clinic in Hawaii kai and their prices kept going higher and higher. That's when we decided to look for a vet that makes your pet's needs a priority over $$$. One of my dogs desparately needed dental work and was suffering. We couldn't afford to have it done at my old vets office and we finally found Dr Obara and his team. They are kind and very professional. Dr Obara quickly got the wheels turning and my dog got all his dental work done, plus they removed a growth that was getting bigger on his leg within 2 days of my call. His prices are very reasonable and both myself and my dog are very pleased. Highly recommend this clinic.

While we lost our dear Koko way too soon, I can't say enough good things about Kalihi Pet Clinic, Dr Obara and Jennifer. They went above and beyond to care for her. I would give them ten stars if I could!

Excellent service! They take great care with all my dogs I have in my life, even my parents dogs! Prices are not even that bad here too. Maybe the parking is a little rough but the inside is nice.

I highly recommend Kalihi Pet Clinic to cat owners. I've been going to Kalihi Pet Clinic since the time Dr. Obara was a new veterinarian working with Dr. Lau. Over these past maaaaany years, my adult daughter and I have brought several cats to Dr. Obara. From our first visit at Kalihi Pet Clinic, it was clear that the staff were compassionate, caring, and gentle. One cat I had was very feisty and a vet at another, local, clinic would gingerly examine him...if he was in a NET! Not Dr. Obara and his team. They treated that ornery cat as if it was one of their beloved family pets. This of course helped each vet visit to be much less traumatic than it could have been. When that cat got sick, Dr Obara invited me to pick up medication, even as most businesses were shuttering to prepared for a hurricane. Over the years, the Kalihi Pet Clinic team has helped us prepare for the death of three of our elderly, beloved cats. I recall Dr. Obara advising us to think of five things our pet used to love to do. How many of those things does he still enjoy? This is one way a pet owner can know when it's time to make the hardest decision we ever make for our pet. When that time came, Dr. Obara gave us the phone numbers of vets who would come to our homes and put our "tiny cat" to sleep while my daughter held her in her arms. I currently have a cat who is extremely hard to crate. In the old days, I opted for walk-in appointments, so this wasn't a large problem. However, since the pandemic, veterinary clinics all over town only take patients via appointment. I have had to cancel multiple appointments because I just couldn't crate Ella at the right time to get her to her appointment. Even though I consistently canceled at the last moment, the Kalihi Pet Clinic team patiently allowed me to reschedule every time. Dr. Obara is extremely knowledgeable. He is able to answer my numerous questions. Sometimes I wonder if certain tests or shots are needed. Dr. Obara doesn't recommend unnecessary procedures, and he explains why they are not necessary for the situation I am asking about.

They made us feel very comfortable with bringing our precious pet for his vaccinations. Dr. Obara addressed my nervous first time pet parent concerns. He made me feel confident that we were doing alright raising our new furry family member.

Dr. Obara and the team are excellent and thorough. They will take care of your pet and get them the care they need, and charge the right amount for their service.

They took care of my little guy and had him in and out of surgery pretty quickly and very effectively.

Dr. Obara and his staff are the absolute best!! They always take the BEST care of my fur-baby and I could not recommend him enough!! As a former employee of the clinic, I can attest to the fact that prices are comparable to those found at the humane society or other clinics. Dr. Obara and his staff are always SUPER sweet and caring with every animal that comes in the clinic. Kittens and puppies receive just as much attention and love as the geriatric patients do. We LOVE this clinic and will continue to use Dr. Obara while we are on the island.

Decline our dog after they told me they could help me my dog needed a surgery right away he was in serious condition otherwose he could Die. I was sooo dissapeared and mad....I hope they don't do this rut others.Bad experience on my end.

With the covid19 precautions the visits are less personal. U park in a barking stall and call a number. An employee comes out to retrieve the animal. You remain in the vehicle until u receive a call and the findings are told to you. Pay by credit card and then the pet is brought out. Not too bad but prefer to b in the exam room with the doctor. Dr. Obama is a very good vet.

The most compassionate vet on island with very fair prices. Our dog has skin issues and Dr Obara and his staff have been our go-to vet for our years on island. They’ve always treated our boy as if he’s their own. We just moved off island and I wish I could take them with us!
