I would give zero stars if I could. This place has horrible customer service! I will never come here again. I took my daughter in because she had a cold. They put me in a room (in the back) and basically forgot about us. We waited over two hours. There was only one patient in the waiting room when we arrived. After waiting for about 30 minutes, they finally came in to get my paperwork. Another 30 minutes later they told me I forgot to sign something. I asked how much longer we would be waiting. They apologized and said sorry it got busy, but we were "first" so not much longer. Another 30-40 minutes pass and someone finally comes in to take my daughter's weight and temperature. I ask again how much longer. She said there were two people in front of us. I asked how that could be, as there was only one patient in front of us. She said I was wrong, and there were several other patients in front of us. I told her the waiting room was empty when we got there. She said people were all waiting outside and in their car. I know this was not true. Eventually a doctor came in to see us. We were probably the last to leave, as it was about 8:20 pm.- the door was locked with the key. I had to unlock it myself- nobody offered to unlock it or let us out. The people working there are completely disorganized and gave inconsistent information. The doctor that saw my daughter called me the next morning to apologize about me having to wait so long. She observed how long I was waiting to be seen, but said she can't enter the room until she gets an "ok". My daughter is not a new patient and we have insurance. According to the doctor, those are two possible reasons for me having to "wait". Getting a doctor's note for my daughter to return to school was worse than waiting for two hours. I was told they could email me a doctor's note, as long as my daughter's results came back negative. Nothing was emailed (even after I spoke to someone that said she would) . I called the next morning and they said they would return my call. Nobody returned my call, so I called back 7 hours later. I was given numerous mixed messages about how they cannot give me a doctor's note unless I bring my daughter in for ANOTHER evaluation. I told them I WOULD NOT come in again. I asked to speak to the manager. I was told that I was speaking to the manager on duty. I asked for someone above her. She said Dr. Bob was above her and she said she "hopes" he will call me back. How's that for customer service?

We had the worst possible experience while on vacation visiting Island Urgent Care- Hawaii Kai! After a 3 hour wait and 5 minute visit with a physician they called a RX into the local pharmacy. The pharmacy has called IUC 6+ times to get clarification and IUC has not responded. At all. So the antibiotic that should have been taken and completed by now has not started due the the HORRIBLE service. Thanks IUC for wasting time, money, and making my 4 year old more sick.

I came in here today after falling while hiking Koko Head. I knew my wrist was broken and did not want to deal with an ER wait. I am also visiting from Georgia and had no clue where to go, so I just went to the nearest urgent care. I am SO glad I chose this clinic! Everyone was super nice, helpful, and most importantly CARING! I was clearly in a lot of pain and they got me back immediately! Dr. Kauhane himself took the xrays and I felt like I was in the best care around. The ladies (Juliet, Sierra, and Ariel) were genuinely concerned about my care and experience. I thought everything was thoroughly explained from the care to the check out and explanation of insurance filing. I knew had made the right choice to come here! This is care at it's finest! I HIGHLY recommend this clinic and Dr. Kauhane! Thanks y'all for making my vacation mishap enjoyable!

I was going to bring my daughter to another clinic, but they had already closed for the evening. So I hunted for another clinic, and found this one nearby, and was so glad I did. I will certainly be going to Island Urgent Care in the future because of the following reasons: (1) You get seen by an actual doctor, not only a nurse. (2) They are open for more hours than other clinics. (3) They are efficient, as the wait time for us on a Wednesday evening was only about 5 minutes. (4) The reception staff was always friendly and courteous. (5) Our insurance covers their services. And (6) they have well equipped facilities and staff, not just one room with a nurse and a kiosk.

I was on vacation and had an issue that I had been treated for before vacation get worse. Based on previous reviews, I chose this urgent care and location. My experience was wonderful! All of the staff were very friendly and I was seen quickly. The doctor listened to my concerns, addressed them, prescribed medicines and told me what to expect during the healing process. I would definitely recommend this urgent care.

Beware of extremely bad billing - completely inaccurate and recklessly harmful. I was excited to see Island Urgent care open in Hawaii Kai. I had been to the one in Kahala and I very much liked Dr. Ruggeri (the owner and an exceptional Doctor). Last year I went there and told him his Kahala location had previously billed me for a $75 co-pay which they were paid by my 2 insurance policies, but they never sent it to me as they were legally required. He told me they had terrible billing issues, but assured it would not happen at the Hawaii Kai location and they were working on the billing problems at Kahala. I had many other billing problems with them prior to this and I never received my $75 that they still owe me. Today I tried to go to Urgent Care in Hawaii Kai and was told I could not see a Doctor until I paid a $30 charge from 2009 that they sent to collections. That is the first I heard of it and they never returned the money they owed me. I explained the secondary policy pays the co-pay after the first and it was their billing error. They refused to let me see a Doctor, unless I paid the 5 year old $30 bill from Kahala first. I asked to talk with Dr. Ruggieri and they said he rarely goes to either the Hawaii Kai or Kahala locations and they refused to give me a way to talk with him. Apparently the Urgent Care billing staff tried to ruin my 820 credit score sending a $30 charge billed in error in 2009 to collections. Also the last time I went there a year ago the wait was over 2 hours for my daughter's broken arm - not very Urgent for Urgent Care!

Doctors of Hawaii Kai UC missed my daughter pneumonia 2 years ago. I bring my daughter twice to same location and 2 different doctors missed her pneumonia not even listen much her lungs. On third time I take her to UC Kahala location and doctor listened her lungs and did X-ray then diagnosed her with pneumonia. So takes 3 visits and 3 doctors to get correct diagnose? Hm

They list travel testing on their website as a service they provide. But they don't actually do travel testing. BEWARE They ARE NOT a Hawaii trusted travel partner!

Came in at the end of the day and staff was pleasant, friendly, and professional. Lynn greeted and checked me in, Lisa did vitals, examined by Dr Ho then May proceeded to irrigate my ear. She was so pleasant and had so much patience. Everyone made me feel welcomed. I was out within an hour. Thank you staff at Hawaii Kai Urgent Care!

โ€œHome remedies that your grandma would give youโ€ is not what I expected when I went to Hawaii Kai Urgent Care after 3 days of feeling ill with a sore throat, body aches, and coughing, but that is exactly what the doctor prescribed. It was a complete waste of time and money. Wish my regular doctor had a Saturday appointment available. The doctorโ€™s attitude was dismissive. He asked what I wanted in terms of treatment. Hmmm...Medicine to make me feel better? Thatโ€™s what my regular doctor would do. If the over the counter & home remedies worked, I wouldnโ€™t need to see a doctor. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Donโ€™t waste your time and money here.

Two stars because I've had a good experience here before. 11/10/18: I step on a nail. Not sure when I had my last tetanus shot. Immediately do to Urgent Care. Dude at the front desk was SUPER aloof. I guess it's good to be calm in stressful situation, but it's nice to show some kind of care as well. Medical assistant came in and struggled with some medical terms. Maybe it was just brain fog from the Bruno Mars concert the night before. They were certainly rocking the Bruno in the office. Doc comes in. Never seen him before. "So you stepped on a nail, let's take a look." Goes on to tell me they usually don't prescribe antibiotics right away, they could call it in and I just pick it up if I need it or I just call them if I see signs of infection. He says, "Just clean it and keep it dry." He proceeds to rummage through drawers like he is looking for something and say, "Uhh...we have stuff for that, but I guess not in this office." Then he just stops looks at me and says, "Yeah so just clean it and keep it dry." Back to the laid back dude at the front desk. Very much lacking the URGENT in Urgent Care. Come to think about it, kind of lacked the CARE part of it too. Very disappointed.

Albeit having seen two doctors, but still suffering from flu-like symptoms, I chose Island Urgent Care to possibly help me. After a little bit of paperwork, I was promptly met by Dr. Bob who took his time to speak with me about my symptoms and examined me without any rush. He determined the cause of my health problems and prescribed some medicine. I was sick for over six weeks and my family GP couldn't find anything wrong. A few days into Dr. Bob's prescription I started feeling a lot better and just about all symptoms disappeared within a week. Thanks Dr. Bob & Island Urgent Care - you guys are great!!!

I was really shaken up when I arrived with my badly stubbed toe. They took me in immediately. The nurse had excellent bedside manner. The doctor came in right away and calmed me down with his prognosis. My visit consisted of a simple procedure that gave me immediate relief and I was on my way in an hour. Billing was very satisfyingly straight-forward, they told me exactly how much everything would cost before each step. Truly the best medical experience I have had in over 20 years! Thank you!

Iโ€™ve been a patient at the Urgent Care office in Hawaii Kai for a few months now. I am really astounded by how they treat their patients with the upmost care and concerns. Especially with Dr. Wanee Gomez who generally cares about your injury/injuries. Their complete staff is very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend my friends and family to seek help if needed by this clinic.
