Rapid
Covid
Test
for
$170
overall,
is
it
worth?
On
August
16th,
2021,
I
was
pregnant
and
had
fevers
and
bad
sore
throat.
My
insurance
was
Kaiser
but
at
that
time,
it
was
almost
4pm
and
I
could
not
drive
up
to
their
testing
place
so
I
chose
Kalihi
Kai
Urgent
Care's
Covid
Rapid
Test.
I
paid
$50
at
the
Kalihi
Kai
Urgent
Care
after
providing
ID
and
Insurance
card!
I
did
ask
about
my
insurance
and
the
staff
said
that
was
fine,
I
needed
to
pay
$50
for
the
Rapid
test
anyway.
I
paid
by
credit
card
so
I
still
have
proof
of
this
payment.
At
that
time,
the
procedure
was
conducted
outside
right
their
door.
They
said
it
only
took
15mins
but
I
waited
30-45mins
since
being
tested
till
I
got
the
result.
I
understood
that
they
were
busy,
that
was
fine.
Then
I
got
the
Positive
result,
which
was
shown
in
YELLOW
PAPER
saying
that
I
need
to
isolate
at
home
bla
bla,
signed
by
their
provider.
And
then
the
staff
came
to
me
again
and
asked
me
to
give
them
the
specimen
again.
I
questioned,
they
said
this
specimen
would
be
sent
to
the
Labs
(
Clinical
Labs
of
Hawaii)
to
make
sure
that
I
had
Covid
and
that
they
can
report
to
the
government.
There
were
so
many
people
being
tested
for
the
second
time
in
order
to
send
to
the
Labs
like
me.
The
staff
DID
NOT
mention
about
extra
charge,
they
DID
NOT
ask
whether
I
wanted
to
have
the
second
check
or
not
and
if
there
was
an
extra
charge,
would
I
want
to
continue
or
not!
I
left
this
place
thinking
that
I
just
paid
$50
for
the
Rapid
test
and
the
part
of
the
Labs
was
included.
Today,
November
14th,
2021,
I
received
a
bill
from
Clinical
Labs
of
Hawaii,
saying
that
I
owed
them
$120
for
the
PCR
test.
If
I
got
the
result
from
the
RAPID
TEST
already,
WHY
DO
I
NEED
TO
RUN
THE
PCR
TEST?
Not
necessary
at
all!
I
did
not
know
that
the
Labs
will
charge
me,
if
I
did,
and
I
just
got
the
positive
from
Rapid
Test,
why
on
earth
that
I
want
to
do
the
PCR
to
pay
extra?
It
sounds
like
Medical
Abuse!
I,
as
the
patient,
DID
NOT
KNOW
about
the
extra
charge,
I
was
only
asked
to
give
them
the
second
specimen
through
my
noses
so
that
they
can
send
them
to
the
Labs
to
double
check
and
report
to
the
government.
How
terrible
after
3
months
I
have
to
pay
total
of
$50+$120
for
just
a
COVID
testing!
I
was
very
disappointed
about
how
the
medical
staffs
from
this
urgent
care
performed
on
their
Covid
testing
process.
It
was
Costly
and
Unprofessional!
I
only
want
the
Rapid
test,
and
now
after
all
I
have
to
pay
$170
without
knowing
about
the
extra
charge
from
PCR!
I
wish
on
that
day,
they
could
tell
me
that
"okay,
this
second
specimen
is
for
the
PCR
at
the
Labs,
there
is
an
extra
charge..."
to
get
my
consent!
How
terrible
it
was.
$170
is
a
lot
for
just
a
test,
especially
in
this
horrible
pandemic,
$170
could
be
used
for
many
necessary
things!
To
the
Kalihi
Urgent
Care
Supervisor,
if
you
read
this,
please
explain!
To
the
other
patients
who
was
charged
like
me,
please
speak
out!
I
know
there
are
a
lot
of
people
who
received
this
situation
too!
AND
To
any
government's
agents,
please
investigate!
Thank
you!
