Do not go to this facility they do not care about their patients. I understand that there are ”shortages” for healthcare on island but this is the worst facility I have ever been to. They not only have failed to make appointments for me and have told me that I cannot get referrals to specialists that I have absolutely needed to go see but they also are only good at prescribing drugs. No matter what the issue let me prescribe you Advil and allergy medicine. It is the saddest excuse for a doctors office. If you care about your health and your children’s health stay far from this facility even if you have to drive an extra 30 minutes. I would give zero stars if that was possible

The care from the staff and medical staff is always amazing. They are kind and patient. But I am *begging* them to update their phone system. It is nearly impossible to make phone appointments, and that is the worst possible thing during covid when you can’t just walk in. Not only are the pre-recorded messages distorted and full of static, you also get run around with menus and have to repeat the process multiple times just to get a real person. And when you *do* get a real person, they are so quiet that I find myself asking them to repeat themselves or speak up multiple times. It’s frustrating and absurd.

Impossible to make an appointment, the staff is extremely rude and will hang up the phone out of no where. Don’t expect help from them. One year later: Staff is still absolutely garbage. Impossible to get ahold of them. They will get results back and not inform you. They will do things incorrectly and make you jump through 1000 hoops to fix it. They will write off almost every problem you bring up, and act like you’re stupid. But that’s navy medical. They aren’t there to help, just there to collect a paycheck.

Nearly impossible to create appointments by phone. Numbers are either disconnected or redirect you to the main menu.

If you need doctors that will actually fill prescriptions that you need to survive find a different office. I’ve used them for about 4 months now and twice now I’ve run out of medication that I need to actually live. They don’t care. The pharmacy closes at 4 even though they told me 4:30 and when I got there at 3:55 they wouldn’t let me get my meds. The medicine I take I can’t just cut cold turkey and when I do it messes up my whole system. TWICE now I’ve run out and had to go without and they don’t care and don’t do anything to help. I’m telling you you need to find a different doctor if you have important medication especially. Making appointments is super hard too and nearly impossible and they always tel you they have none available and that someone will you call you back and nobody ever does. They do not care about their patients at all and I will be finding a different practice. If I could give zero stars I would.

The care given at Makalapa Clinic is and has always been great! (5-Stars) However, there is an on-going aggravation that they seem to refuse to address when scheduling appointments by phone. Just about the time I'm convinced that my next prompt will connect me to a human, it either drops my call or loops back to the main menu. (Zero-Stars...I had to give it at least one to post.)

If I could give zero stars I would. BE WARNED about involving your physical and mental heath with this location. No one wants to help, give referrals, or focus on healing. I seriously think this location should be audited (Office of Inspector General? HIPPA?). Not one person involved with check in, Appointments, referrals, should be in the healthcare field. This is a horrific "show" of a "clinic" that should be seriously looked ethically. Start with what it tales to make an appointment through the "appointment system". End with the PC doctor who decides if your chronic illness is worth his time. You have been warned.

They will leave you their number and extension yet won’t ever answer the phone. Also takes weeks sometimes a month out to get an appointment for anything. Dental is even more jammed, good luck getting a cleaning, they won’t even take people for cleanings because they are backed up.

As other reviewers stated the phone system is terrible and takes you on a never ending loop for appointments. If you do get to make an appointment with the main line this clinic is constantly booked a month out. They seem very short staffed and have been for a while. Care is hit or miss.

Called and made an appointment. The lady failed to tell me that the appointment would be located at the Oahu Family Medical on Hickam and therefore made me late to my appointment and I could no longer be seen. Horrible communication. Do better.

To make any appointments, I recommend going to clinic in person. Its almost impossible to get ahold of anyone by phone.

I have lived on island for over 3 years and have had nothing but great experiences with many of the providers and clinics at Makalapa. I have primarily seen Dr. Valenzuela in the Red Team and she is amazing! She is so attentive and will spend as much time as you need during your visit. She is one of the best providers I've ever had on a military installation. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who is nervous about military providers and services. Everyone from the front desk to the corpsmen to the medical providers and beyond are so friendly and professional. Thank you all for your service!

Absolutely horrendous by all counts. From the thorough lack of care, to the "its not that bad" mentality from the "drs" located here, and everything in-between. I am sorry to anyone who has had to visit this place in any regard let alone for their health and needed actual viable help. This place is atrocious and words cannot express my pure hatred for this place and its staff.

We were signed Dr. Rachel Newtown for our pediatrician but there are no numbers to schedule an appointment. Every single number listed leads to the same automated operator with no option to schedule an appointment. How is this okay?!

The appointment line directs you to the health clinic the clinic then redirect you back to the appointment line and then back again to the health clinic how on earth are we supposed to reschedule our appointments really sucks cause some of us may be on leave and can’t reschedule until we get back and then have to do it person

We were turned away. They said they were "full" and were unable to see anyone else for the day. Their walk in hours are 7a-11a. We arrived at 805a.

😠 It pains me to only be able to give 1 star. My prior visits these last 20 years were exceptional. Staff shortages, inadaquet covid protocols left me feeling more endangered than ever.
