A place that everyone should visit in their lifetime. Here lies the event which pushed the United States into World War Two. Where men, wholly unsuspecting, gave all for their country. This is where our resolve for victory was born. Reserve your tickets well in advance so you don’t miss out on this opportunity to give thanks and remembrance for those who gave all.

This is a place that everyone should see in their lifetime. It was humbling, emotional, and somber. To attend you need to book in advance. You will need to wear a mask. Bring nothing but your phone and wallet. You can not have any bags. You can rent lockers if you need to keep anything safe. Parking rotates fast but fills fast you can park down the street on the main road. Plan to wear sunblock and bring water on your trip to Pear Harbor.

Everyone should go and see this. Somber and really makes you think about world conflict and doing everything you can to avoid war. The bravery of some of these very young military was just amazing. The memorial is so very well done and presents the story in such a great way. Absolutely get the audio tour, it is so helpful.

A very solemn/sobering, yet worthwhile, experience. I would highly recommend going to see it, if you get the chance. The rangers and volunteers were extremely knowledgeable, and shared lots of history about the events that took place there. There's a limited number of spots available, so make sure to get tickets in advance, or arrive very early so you can get in near the front of the standby line.

Beautiful day for a trip to the monument. We were blessed enough to see our first rainbow on the island. All the staff was super helpful with everything from the gift shop to check out the equipment and even the guard at the entrance who shared we were unable to bring in backpacks or large bags of any kind, everything needed to be left in the car including our headphones. I haven't been in years however it is more spectacular than I remember. I highly recommend coming to visit the Arizona Memorial on your next trip to Oahu!

Now you CANNOT come to Hawaii and not visit the Arizona Memorial. You will have that somber feeling and your imagination will make you feel like the attack is happening. If you saw any of those movies or documentary about Pearl Harbor it just runs in your mind. Please be RESPECTFUL 🙏 when you visit. Also get your tickets online because you have to wait in line for no show spots.

Very humbling experience. Not sure of the Rangers name (wish I had got it) but after a mix up with tickets he looked after me helped me out. Outstanding customer service as I came from Australia and Pearl Harbor was my main reason for coming. Some people still don't get it but as is said, this is not an amusement feature, it's a military graveyard. Please show the respect asked while there. It's not hard.

Wow! It's so beautiful and moving and powerful here. The park rangers who work here are outstanding, telling such engaging stories of these soldiers and civilians. The architect Pries designed the cut-outs in the monument called the Tree of Life and...ah! So touching!

What an incredible place to visit. Went early in the morning, 7:30 showing which is first for the day, and enjoyed a calm boat ride with a beautiful view. It is a beautiful memorial to those who sacrificed everything for our country. Well taken care of by the knowledgeable and kind staff, and serene to the point of sacred (which feels appropriate). It’s a 45 min trip including the boat ride, which is the perfect amount of time to enjoy your surroundings while not overstaying. If you’ve never been please go and pay your respects. You’ll be glad you did.

Time stood still, knowing so much about the December 7th, 1941 attack on Battleship Row in Pearl Harbor, having family members who fought in the war and were able to return back home, and so much history beneath your feet. When you come, you honor their great sacrifice especially when it came at such a great cost! I was so moved and humbled and heartbroken but there's no way in this world I would have past it up in a million years! There were tears of joy and somber moments but I cannot explain how moving, how powerfully touched the experience is truly! Take a walk through history and pay your respects while visiting the USS Arizona Memorial.

Highly recommend visiting the memorial. We did not have tickets on the Sunday we visited, a guide advised us to wait in the standby line. Within 20 minutes, we were on a boat headed out to see the Arizona. So glad I was able to share this experience with my family. Being here in person adds a whole new perspective to this piece of world history.

This is an experience I will never forget. This memorial is a grave site, so I was glad for the reverence that was shown. It is a very beautiful memorial, and I hope it will stay that way. We spent $1 per person reserving tickets. but you can see if they have any available seats for free. If you come to Pearl Harbor, I highly recommend that you come to the Arizona memorial.

The USS Arizona Memorial stands as a powerful testament to the valor and sacrifice of those who bravely fought during that chilling morning of December 7, 1941. This somber yet cathartic experience transcends words. The moment you set foot on this solemn site, you are encapsulated in an overwhelming spirit of hallowed reverence, as around you resonates the bravery and undeniable resilience of the fallen men aboard the USS Arizona. A panorama of clear blue water punctuated by the sweeping views of the harbor manages to hold in time the chilling reality of that day and the endurance that followed in the wake of such deliberate chaos – a poignant reminder of resilience in face of adversity. Despite the turbulent history, every corner of this living memorial embodies an atmosphere of poignant reflection. This is further deepened by the exemplary works of the dedicated and knowledgeable staff who elucidate the history with immense respect and poignant detail. Alongside, the accompanying museum boasts of a superbly archival collection which puts into perspective the narrative of those arduous times. However, the most touching sight, by far, is the oil still leaking from the sunken wreckage - the 'Tears of the Arizona'. This ethereal manifestation imbues one with an overwhelming sense of the lives lost and stories untold, leaving behind a profound impact. And beneath it lies the final resting place of more than a thousand patriots who wrote the ultimate chapter of courage. Experiencing this indelible connection to them and their unyielding spirit is genuinely humbling. For those who want to personally witness a pivotal slice of American history, the USS Arizona Memorial is an absolute must-visit. You leave the grounds not just with a deeper understanding of the events of December 7, 1941, but also infused with a profound gratitude and respect for those who selflessly laid down their lives for the love of their country. Here's to the heroes of the USS Arizona! May we never forget the price they paid for our freedom.

Personally, we took a tour and so worth it. We got history there and back. We had a scheduled time and no waiting. The museums were great. Get the audio, adds so much more. Remember that the memorial is a cemetery, respect the lives lost. Lots of people laughing and taking selfies and forgetting where they were. So many people lost their lives that day. Be humble and remember that.

The standby line was over 2 hours! Excruciating! It was worth the wait. Somber reminder of a low point in our history. You can still see oil rising from the Arizona. RIP.

This is a must see if you come to Oahu. It's an amazing memorial to those who perished on the USS Arizona. It lasts only 15 minutes but it seems like way longer. It can be emotional as you experience it. There's still oil and fuel coming out of the hull. Key things to note, you need to reserve tickets 8 weeks in advance or 24 hours in advance. If you don't have a ticket, you have to wait in a standby line. They don't make reservations on site. If you are early, you have a good chance of getting on the ferries but later in the day, it gets busy.

I did a report on Hawaii and Pearl Harbor in Middle School. It was so cool to finally see everything in person rather than just pictures in a book, or online (AOL dial-up back in those days). The in-person experience makes things so much more surreal. It was an amazing time for our family of four (3 - 39 y.o). The crew that led the tour was amazing. A few things to know about the U.S.S. Arizona Tour: If you don't book 2 months in advance, you probably won't get tickets. Each day, they release 30-60 tickets back to the public online for the next day's tour. We (our family and some other families we spoke with while in line) believe there's a tour company that swoops in and grabs most of them nearly immediately after the release. Instead, get there early, between 6:00-6:30 am and jump in the standby line. The sooner you get in line, the sooner you'll get onto the boat. We were in the first 80 people in stand-by, and we were able to get onto the 2nd tour of the day on Saturday (30 minute intervals). It will not always be that way. Standby depends on ticket-holders that do not show up. Thank you to the Military Men and Women who have sacrificed to keep America and other parts of the world safe.

Overall experience in Pearl Harbor Historic Sites is great. We had a pleasant experience at USS Arizona remembering and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom that we enjoy today. A solemn reminder that freedom is not free.

The memorial is worth visiting! It was a short boat ride there and you could even watch a movie first about the events. I know the date the attack happened on now. December 7th, 1941. This is an amazing piece of our countries history.

This is a quiet, somber experience as you visit the ship-wrecked tomb of over 900 men. Make reservations ahead of time because it's the most visited site in Oahu and space is limited... but you should definitely go. This is isn't a place for smiling selfies or antics of any kind. It is a memorial to nearly a thousand men who died in service to their country.

Thoughtful, respectful, beautiful and peaceful. Low voices over this watery grave, still seeping oil after 82 years. Over 1,170 men buried 40 feet deep in the harbor of Pearl Harbor on this one ship alone. Instantaneously murdered when the bomb hit the munitions magazine that Sunday morning with no warning and no provocation. Lovely memorial. Ashes of others who passed since are added and the ship sucks them in.

So humbling to be sitting above such a majestic ship and those who perished that day. It's unimaginable to think what it must have been like. The views of the island are so peaceful and beautiful. What must it have been like to see those planes coming in. Grateful for all who have served.

If you want to assure Yourself of a visiting slot, you can book online , the fee is 1 USD. If not, you can join the stand by line. Places would be available if it is not crowded, preferably on a weekday. You can watch the 15min show on the history of the USS Arizona at the theater while waiting to get over to the memorial. At the allocated time, all visitors would be allowed to board the boat to get to the memorial. Once at the memorial, you will get to see the sunken parts of USS Arizona , the Hall of Honour, the various displays giving much information on the memorial.

There are very few things like a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial. Solemn, quiet, reflective. Over 80 years have passed since "The Day of Infamy" on December 7, 1941. My Dad was 14 years old, living in Wisconsin, and talked about how the Japanese invasion changed everything - leading the US into World War II. A boat takes your group to the USS Arizona Memorial. As you step foot onto the memorial, you appreciate the massive loss of life. You become aware of the destruction and hundreds of entombed soldiers still trapped inside the USS Arizona hull. Oil still bubbles up from the ship - now more than 80 years later. Every American should take a trip here.

Pre book online for a guaranteed time. This is very revered site for Americans and anyone with a interest in history.. Note that you can not take food or drink, other than water, in a clear container, or any bags onto the memorial.

Always a beautiful peaceful place to remember those that died for their country. We missed our original time we reserved but were able to walk on. Payed online to reserve time, walked on free. Just depends if you have time to wait.

Caveat: I’m giving this three-stars not to disrespect the 1,100+ individuals who passed away, but largely because this just isn’t my thing. I’m not a war or history buff. This is merely my candid review and I’m not intending to trigger anyone. Notwithstanding this about me, everyone says that you can’t visit Oahu without visiting Pearl Harbor. I followed instructions and the memorial didn’t live up to my expectations. First, be absolutely sure to reserve your time in advance. This will save you having to wait in the standby line and possibly even missing it. Once you get to the memorial you’ll have about 20 minutes. You get to look down on the sunken ship. Mostly what you see are some parts of the ship a few feet below sea level. I expected to see more. We went late in the afternoon (3:30 pm) and it was a little windy. Maybe if you go earlier the harbor will be calmer and you could see more. Overall the memorial is more of a solemn place akin to a cemetery as opposed to a place to learn about the history and/or see the actual ship. Visiting the actual memorial is free and parking is $7. High points: there are two great museums, the USS Bowfin submarine that you can tour (for a fee), and a gift shop. Those places were far more interesting and worth the time to me. I’m reviewing them separately.

Very beautiful, yet emotional visit. We did not purchase advance tickets for the USS Arizona, despite trying. Instead, we visited and simply waited in their standby line and luckily we able to go on the next boat. If you’re unable to get tickets and have time to wait, I’d highly recommend just waiting. Only 1 member of your party has to wait, but you’ll all have to be present when there’s space, otherwise you’ll be skipped.

The memorial is stunning and moving. It is simplistic, but powerful. Something I will never forget for the rest of my life! Highly recommend every American take this tour and understand the sacrifice these men made for their country!

We loved exploring a part of history here at pearl harbor. You also go on Ford Island which is a active military base where you can go on the USS Missouri and tour it you also go below deck and explore you also, there is a sub marine you go inside of. There is just too much to tell you here but you really don't want to miss this it is definitely a must. P.S. make reservations well in advance it fills up quickly or you can try your luck. If you have the attraction card make sure to get pearl harbor on it I also highly recommend getting the deluxe audio to use on the tour it a smartphone and rar plugs they have and get the map it has the numbers you in put for each location your at then you can listen to the narrator through the ear plugs tell you about that section.

Even though I am not American, I found the memorial site awe-inspiring. The visit starts with the museums and a video summarising the background to the Pearl Harbor attack, the day itself and then the following events on the Pacific front during WWII. However, seeing USS Arizona itself, still lying on the seafloor, is the most impressive and most-impressive feature of the visit. The new walkway on top of the ship is really well designed and beautiful to see. It is necessary to book in advance, but I really recommend a visit.

  • 5/5 David M. 1 year ago on Google
Sometimes visiting somewhere once is enough and I would count this location as one. The reason being, it is an experience that will never be forgotten as solemn as the experience was. The 'attraction' is well presented with professional staff ready and willing to help along with some of the veterans. Book early long before you plan to visit and be prepared to be paitent for the lines also but be prepared to allow yourself to be taken back to the horrors of the sinking of the Arizona.

  • 5/5 David D. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful area. Especially enjoyed the many museums and the boat that carries you to the Arizona Memorial.

Really like the way they redid the visitor center. Can't believe there is still oil leaking. See picture of oil spot. Highly recommend!
