This place is mostly vegan food with some vegetarian food. They have every brand that you could ever want to try! Really phenomenal selection, and they have a ton of hot and cold prepared foods all of which were delicious!

Everyone said it would be difficult and expensive to be a vegan in Hawaii and they were right. Thank goodness we found this gem! They had everything we are used to having on the mainland at decent prices. Great fresh produce and a nice variety of Vegan and Gkuten free product. The parking was tricky but definitely worth the trouble. Bring your own bags as they charge 10 cents a bag!

I was in vegan heaven!! This is the best place for prepared or self-serve vegan and vegetarian food as well as a grill. I tried a bit of everything at the hot bar… love the curry and stuffed shells. The tofu musabi is great too! There is seating upstairs with utensils, etc. Friendly staff. Parking garage and restroom. Clean. If you are vegan or vegetarian, you have to check this place out!

A great market with, proportionately, a large selection of fresh produce (locally grown when available!) and also a wide assortment of packaged goods, snacks, beverages, bulk ingredients, and also a large beauty / wellness section. Friendly and helpful staff. Some parking available off-street in the little parking garage.

Wonderful store! Great natural food selection in general and excellent gluten-free items in particular. Fresh baked goods are remarkable. Food bar and hot bar are outstanding. A gem nearby Waikiki. Cannot go wrong shopping at Down to Earth.

Literally a piece of heaven on earth (the hot bar food ) and a heaven that doesn’t serve meat which is a big plus… It’s sad tho there’s no DTE in Waikiki and having no other and better option for vegan food I didn’t mind going there everyday single day of the 10 days I was in Waikiki. Thank you for feeding me so well. The lasagna omg!

All of the staff were, Down To Earth :D This place has a plethora of organic, natural, foods and products to choose from. They even have a small juice bar that offers freshly pressed juices, sandwiches, coffee, and freshly made acai bowls. They have a salad bar with raw foods to choose from. They have a cooked foods, and already prepared foods area as well. And they even have pizza, bread, and dessert items as well. The market itself is, well, it is full of items! Their fresh produce was well organized and clean. There was so much, you will have plenty to pick and choose from. I did try their acai bowl, and freshly pressed juices. Both were fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back and try these items again, as well as new items from their menu. Kombucha anyone!? Yes, they have fresh kombucha! I'm telling you, they have it all :) They even have a couple of benches outside where you can sit and eat your food. Watch out for bums though, as there are plenty outside. Everything was freshly stocked, and I found everything I needed. I went in to get some ear drops, and tried out some of their food while I waited, it was worth the wait.

As the other reviews suggest, this is a heaven for vegan/vegetarians. We enjoyed the Avacado toast sandwich, lasagna, noodles, smoothies with ginger, pizza and desserts. They also had soups and Indian and Thai options. Convenient and multiple locations with parking and grocery store.

It’s been a bit difficult to navigate with a wheat and gluten allergy since I got here so I very much appreciate you! ❤️ The food is absolutely delicious and fresh. I highly recommend and it’s great that you offer gluten-free and dairy free options. ❤️ tysm

I would come to Down to Earth if I need spices that I can buy in smaller quantities, since I do not like to buy an entire jar of spices when the recipe only asks for a pinch of the spice and would sit in my pantry unused afterwards. I spent only $2+ for purchasing 4 types of spices in small quantities. It also makes me feel good to purchase items that are healthy for my body and the environment, at the cost of slightly higher price tag. I wish I can bring my own containers or bags for the spices and food items - I understand that it's for hygienic reasons but makes me feel bad for using plastic when the purpose of bulk shopping is to reduce plastic consumption. I know the business is trying their best so I wish them luck.

Has all the organic / healthy brands you’re used to! AMAZING hot bar food, smoothie bar, desserts, I’m not much of a donut person but the donuts here were a 10/10. Awesome staff and area to eat your food upstairs.

Every time I come to Oahu my best friend and I come here daily! This place is the absolute best for people with food allergies, specifically if you need gluten free & vegan food options! The pastries are amazing! Gluten free/vegan chocolate donut is to die for! Huge kombucha selection, and so much more!

Fantastic grocery store. Love the bulk section with all the snacks. The plant milks are more reasonably priced here than on a lot of the island. Hot food section are brimming with delicious vegan options (including lots of local flavors!). Love the fresh desserts as well. Would definitely start our next visit here with grocery shopping at Down to Earth.

Update; Down to Earth on King St. Just before University Ave. Across Longs Drugs is now called the Honolulu Store with big sign across its roof DOWN TO EARTH. Met this St. Andrew's Priory girl hapa-haole still attending University that insisted on helping me find my special toothbrushes. She is Management Training very bubbly personality & quite charming, she told me she & friends were having dinner at Chart House ILikai while back stated my friends and I stayed after dinner listening to 3 other guys & myself entertaining music & singing 4 part harmony. They all enjoyed it, I said Cool, do you believe in love at first sight!? She said she believes in infatuation. Will you marry me, hold the press how old are you, she said 26 almost 27. Sorry, you're too old for me. She kept laughing I said I like the young kind! I was joking & didn't think it was that hilarious. Still laughing she said I love these colors! So I purchased both of them. I asked her to make a plate for herself my treat, said your so nice. Paid for hers, myself & 2 toothbrushes. Took a photograph then said goodbye I'm 5 minutes late for my 4th. Covid 19 phiszer vaccine in Longs. I'm posting special toothbrushes. Try it, totally awesome! Plant Based Handle reusable forever escaping the fate of landfills

Appreciate the workers and the occasional convos with other regular shoppers like myself. Cool spot to get a few things on my way home from work. I very rarely feel like I have to check labels for things I buy which is a determination of mine to be able to shop for safe and natural food products.

I often go to other locations of Down To Earth. This branch is rather small, compared to other locations, but I was surprised and got excited to find more vegan items than other locations, especially vegan lasagna and vegan eggplant “parmesan-like” dish of their hot bar. The food was a little dry. Maybe they should make less at a time. Also, less plastic use would be nicer to be eco-friendly.

A few days ago I was shopping with my partner & was trying to buy beauty products while he was getting food and one of the employees near the cosmetic area asked me twice if I needed help. Immediately I was feeling uncomfortable but continued shopping until I noticed her following me around the store. When we went to the register I told my partner last minute that I felt uncomfortable and wanted to put the products I got away and that was when she came up to the register and said "are you gonna buy the cosmetics?". I put them away because I was just over it and she said thank you in a rude way. We've been shopping with you guys for years that's very unprofessional and discriminatory behavior. The manager I called the next day didn't bother to do anything. My partner will still buy for groceries but I will no longer support this store! Do better!

Great selection of pre-made vegan sandwiches and bakery items. Avocado & tomato sandwiches were awesome, as well as the cookies. We were visiting and the cashier (I believe her name was Athena) was super nice and helpful and told us some other good vegan spots to check out!

Nice grocery with very good prepared food. Their açai bowls are great and have the no banana option, which is hard to find in Honolulu. Very good service and fair price for O’ahu. Highly recommend!

Loved the one in Maui so I had to come check out this one. Clean supermarket, friendly employees and amazing selection of vegan/vegetarian products. Down To Earth is THE spot.

Been coming here for over 33 years and service is not what it used to be. Surprisingly during lunch hour DTE provides no rapid service options for deli customers. I had literally one item and I’m supposed to stand in line behind someone with 50+ items and with five registers available yet only 2 open at 1pm?? Please do better

Absolutely lovely place to visit and eat. The food is authentic and healthy. My wife loved the food here and we enjoyed our time visiting. We wish that there was at Down To Earth in New Jersey.

Lots of unique products. Hot deli good primarily vegetarian dishes. Tofu, mushrooms and the like. Great for vegetarians. Although many items can be found a little less expensive in larger chain markets, there are a host more unique products in this store.

Not a lot of variety and the food is only so so. I am kind of amazed they are still in business. There is not a whole lot of competition for all organic groceries. Organic soda? I think that is a bit of trickery to sell something that is not healthy but tastes good. Love the free parking and location is convenient. Staff acts irritated to be disturbed by pesky questions.
