1938 was a good experience all around, we started at the bar while we waited for our friends to join us. We had a fabulous ginger whiskey drink made with homemade ingredients and it was good. Once our friends arrived we moved to our reserved table. The atmosphere is fantastic, love the decor!! We ordered just a bunch of different plates and everyone pretty much shared. Again can't complain about anything we ordered, really the only compliant and this is with everything is that the plates are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher but not limited to just one place of course. Everything had good flavor and was cooked well and to order. All said and done it was a good meal and good experience we would definitely go back.

Where do I begin?? We got extremely lucky on Valentine's Day ❤(no less) by finding this place unintentionally after most other places turned us away because we didn't have reservations. We thought let's grab a quick bite for happy hour and catch the sunset. Well...we were in for a TREAT here. From the ABSOLUTELY STUNNING restaurant design and ambiance to delicious cocktails our night turned into a memorable experience! Food was delicious - A culinary adventure! And service was friendly as well. We even got to enjoy a few songs from the performer. Live music 🎶 always makes an evening better. We'll be back for sure. It's now our favorite new place.

Had the pleasure of both dining in and taking away food from 1938 Indochine. If you are able to, I'd recommend dining in. The ambiance is warm, exotic and welcoming. The restaurant is clean and the service is 5 star. The food comes in beautiful dishware and if you go during certain hours, there is local live music playing during your meal :) The take away experience wasn't as amazing. For some reason the food just wasn't as good . The portions seemed a bit smaller? Just the entire experience was so different from dining in. I will definitely be back to visit dining in :)

Delicious food, amazing ambiance, but the service was a bit slow. We also had to wait 20 minutes for our table, even though we had reservations. Our server was attentive and very helpful though, and the manager even moved tables and chairs so that we were out of the direct sun. The happy hour is a fantastic deal, so don't miss it!

The flavors are unique. Not too much for my taste. Overall it was ok. No creme brûlée when we were there. The service was great though.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience of this place. The staff was underwhelming, but the food options definitely made up for it. I went on an Saturday night and there place was full of fashionable people celebrating birthdays and enjoying themselves. My major complaint would be the uncaring method they delivered the food itself. With the live music the server was almost yelling. The drink menu is pretty extensive with a lot of spirits. I would definitely go back and give them another shot

There's not much to dislike with this restaurant. The location is nice on a (busy) street with outdoor seating. The ambiance the restaurant was very soothing and beautiful. The service was on point, they were never late with drinks or food. Pricing was okay but I would suggest taking at the menu. It's a fusion blend of different cultures. The food was very high quality and delicious. The drinks were a little bit small and pricey but that's a minor complaint. They have a beautiful upstairs but they don't utilize it. It looks like there's a room that can be rented out with its own separate bar (see pictures). My only one complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the bathrooms were extremely dirty.

Mr. Solo is working so hard to take care of his restaurant. He shows up and talk to his customers often. He introduced great dishes for us. The cocktail selections are the best for tonight 😋😋

This is a trendy place to check out. I enjoyed the mocktail and an oyster shooter. The service was good and many staff checked in throughout the time spent at the bar. I will be back for a meal. They have valet for $7 with validation.

Great location in Kaka'ako, especially if you're trying to get out of Waikiki for a minute. Serving is Tapas or Family Style. Cocktails and service were amazing. Highly recommend. Some vegan options available.

I so wanted this to be an exceptional experience. The food was good… the service was horrible. The server was dishonest and tried to cheat us on the bill. When I pointed out the discrepancy she doubled down and lied. By then I was not happy. I had to ask for the management to make by bill proper. Waitress got snippy with me and at that point I dig in my heals. Bailey, the server needs a lesson in customer service and humility. Had she just said “I’m sorry, I made a mistake” I would have just paid and left her a decent tip. Instead she wanted to act like a brat so I had to escalate to management. Needless to say this place won’t get another dollar from me. Extremely unprofessional and poor service.

The Happy Hour at this restaurant is amazing, offering a variety of delicious food options. Happy Hour ends at 6pm. I highly recommend trying the fries and pork belly buns, which were both excellent. The ceviche was good, and the glass noodle shrimp was also good. However, the jidori chicken was excellent, and the crab cakes were great. The Happy Hour menu offers excellent value, and I highly recommend taking advantage of it.

Awesome vibes and great small plates. Prob best place for live music in an unassuming setting as well. The veg dishes were really nice and tasty, service was great too. It’s a great dining experience before you go to Hmart 😉

I wanted to enjoy this meal a lot more than what it was hyped up to be. I imagine their more experimental and innovative items on the menu would be a lot better. A lot of what we ordered are similar to dishes that I grew up with. So I give credit to authenticity and flavours that remind me of home. But I was hoping for a bigger impact in flavour and interesting dishes that weren’t masquerading as something else. For example “Imperial Roll” is just a fancy title for a spring roll. Cocktails were great, and would’ve liked to have tried their whiskey/bourbon flight.

Love going to 1938 Indochine, where you can eat inside at the bar, a booth and/or a large table if you have a large number of people. You can also dine outside at a table or hi-top at a serving window. the menu is varied for different tastes. They have things like ceviche, Imperial Rolls, crazy Fried Rice, Grilled Ocean Scallops, a wonderful coconut milk based Seafood Soup, cold glass noodle shrimp on romaine leafs, Thai Beef Brochettes and a new clam dish in a little ceramic pot among other dished like pork chops, pan fried squid and bahn mi sliders and more. With the easing of the COVID restrictions I hope that they will re-open their upstairs private booths and a special bar area that you can reserve for private parties. The interior has an amazing decor with most everything being imported from South East Asia and a little Buddah water fountain amongst the booths on the 1st floor.

Service was amazing. Sauces were good. Food is more tapas style. Great place to share food and drinks. Even live music. Food was above average, fusion style makes it best of both worlds

Great happy hour as they open at 4pm. I would definitely take a look at there special whiskey menu as they have some whiskey that you can’t get at other bars.

I loved the ambiance! There’s live acoustic performers. It’s a place where you can chill with friends/coworkers after a long day’s work! Food is good and i loved it because they serve Red Horse beer, a Philippine brand of beer. I haven’t drank that for years!

The service was great. The first class. But the plates we ordered were just not that impressive. We were not there for their #happyhours but the plates delivered to us did look/ taste like typical “happy hour batch cooked foods”. We parked at Salt and was able to validated at the Starbucks because my hub wanted some after meal iced caramel Mochiato (i didn’t see any digestif liquors, like Limonchello or Averna at the restaurant) Their outside seating area is lovely - and live music adds to the peaceful atmosphere . #covidsafe #kakaako #eatlocally

Very odd experience: we came after reading reviews and hearing great things from locals about this place. There was not that much for us to eat cos 80% of the menu coked with pork and bacon. We specifically requested our food to have none of these, but still got it. Ordered 6 dishes, barely ate just one. Cocktails were sub par. We left hungry.

Came here for drinks and small plates for my husbands birthday! Very pricey for the small amounts of food you get, but everything was delicious. Server was exceptional, very accommodating for my food allergies which is always so appreciated with anything of Asian cuisine. Our favorites were the imperial rolls, pulled pork open faced sliders, and crab cakes (husband). We sat outside on a beautiful day, stayed about an hour and a half just relaxing, we didn’t feel rushed at all. Definitely recommend for date night or a late night cigar/whiskey if you’re into that sort of thing!

The indochine soup, curry & scallops were immaculate! Everything was decently priced & portion sizes were meant for sharing. Definitely will be back to try something different. Service was fast, attentive & friendly. The atmosphere is so relaxing from the bustle of Kakaako

Definite go-to for lunch with the girlfriends. Love the ambience, the service was excellent, the food did not disappoint...food even tastier than expected, very flavorful. My girlfriends were happy with the drinks they got... Even happier at the diverse menu. I will need to return for dinner or happy hour festivities. Parking was even better...free...and it was for restaurant customers only. Amazing decor, clean, friendly and diligent staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant again and again!!

I've been here 3 times and the food has always been disappointing. I gave this place a chance 3 times, I will not go there to eat again. But I like the Interior, you can come here to drink, but not to eat. The service is excellent! There is parking, you can ask for validation, although we paid $7 for parking for 3.5 hours.

Loved my cocktail “Tigers Blood” so much, it was perfectly crafted. The bartender was very nice too, great ambiance, good quality ingredients, not crazy about the buns and my Mai-Tai wasn’t too good but I’ll be back for sure ! Extra star for Valet Parking :)
