Prepare yourself to be surrounded by an ancient forest and spectacular views of the Hawai’ian mountains. The trail is a little tricky, especially after the rain, and it can be muddy & slippery at parts. However, the benefits are worth the risk and you will not be disappointed by the natural wonders around you! Park at the Puu Ualakaa State Park and walk to the trailhead a little bit down the mountain. During the hike, you’ll come to a few other trails that go alongside the mountain, down into the valley, and other places around the park. If you’re up for an adventure in a rainforest, this is the place for you.

The view is simply stunning! From this point you can see the island of O'ahu from a very high point. And looking out from here you can see so much of the natural beauty that is the Hawaiian Islands. The cities and buildings mix in well with the view to give a stunning view of how civilization can mix well with nature. I highly recommend taking this path and getting a look at the view in person, you will not be disappointed!

A beautiful 1 mile trail that is easy enough for children. It was a little muddy but still manageable. The lookout up the road is worth a view and there are bathrooms at the larger parking lot between the trail and the lookout. Enjoy!

(Translated by Google) One of the Makiki Trail Systems From the Ulaka'a Trail to the Makiki Valley Trail, you can go around the loop course of 2 km in 20 minutes. It's a flat course and the footing is not bad, so it's OK even with small children. It was a Makiki local walk course. This course is also suitable for trail runs. On the way, I was lucky to find a spot where Diamond Head could be seen if I got off the course a little!
