Really enjoyed my second tour, this time at Christmas! It's a free and interesting walk back in time. Amazing antiques and Poe family history described by knowledgeable tour guide.

The museum and house are very well kept. Ruth was great at explaining everything during the tour. You can learn a lot about how people used to live during that time. The museum is free and they accept donations. The museum has a cute store and great prices to get souvenirs.

I had some time to kill, and the museum complex exceeded my expectations. The admission is free, and I was more than happy to donate. This is a great museum for the area, but the real gem is the tour in the Victorian house of EA Poe. This is not THE Edgar Allan Poe whom is the famous writer, but rather someone from the area whom was progressive that sent his six daughters to college. Highly recommend the Poe tour that makes this place shine.

We really enjoyed our visit. There is a tour for the restored Victorian home. That's the only way to visit the house. Definitely recommend it Also, they decorated for the holidays.

This is not Edgar Allan Poe the writers home. The home belongs to a local Carolinian Edgar Allan Poe the brickmaker. The Victorian home was extremely beautiful and very well preserved. The tour was very informational and fun.

I used to volunteer here and it is a treasure of Fayetteville. You can take a guided tour through the museum or just walk through by yourself for free. The exhibits give true insight into Civil War history in Fayetteville and how the Fayetteville Observer building was burned down. They also give information about what was traded here and what goods were made here as well as pioneer life. It was a hard life but they made it work. The arsenal that was taken by Sherman is memorialized across the highway and the Poe House gives an idea of how a home in 1800s was managed.

Great local museum with friendly volunteers. I enjoyed the building and can tell that the local historical society puts a lot of work into the place. Definitely recommend if you're interested in local Fayetteville history.

An incredible experience. They have taken an enormous amount of time and money to recreate history. Our guide was a lovely young person who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They have the home decorated for the holidays, keeping within the historic time frame.

This place is really good to visit. Free admission. Very interesting to hear about the family that lived here. The tour guide was very good also. Must go. They are rebuilding the place with the tips that you leave. Go check it out.

Such a great experience! We had such a great time with the guided tour, we happened to be the only ones there the day/time we chose to go so we had a wonderful one on one experience with the tour guide that helped us that day. (Really wish I could remember her name, but all the staff was so kind!) Such a gorgeous home with such a rich history. The gift shop was great too, picked up a new book! But they also have toys, candies, and the works. Would definitely recommend, especially for littles, as they have a monthly history bag activity!

Very interesting small museum giving a nice understanding of the history of the area. In addition, we had a lovely tour guide (she is from Texas) when walking through the 1897 Poe House who gave fun tidbits about Lily Poe the last resident of the house.

I have been living here in Fayetteville since 2012 it is now 2022 that first heard about this museum. I really had a great time seeing this culture extravaganza. This is a must see when visiting Fayetteville. Taking our grandkids through all the museums in Fayetteville and this one falls in the top three.
