It
is
a
real
shame
what
PR
has
allowed
to
happen
to
this
landmark
and
surrounding
area.
The
road
to
the
lighthouse
along
the
shore
is
co
ered
in
potholes,
ruts
a
lots
of
trash.
Not
sure
why
it
is
being
neglected,
but
you
can
see
some
semblance
of
a
beautiful
drive
surrounded
by
wildlife
and
water.
Because
of
the
damaged
road
we
had
to
abandon
our
vehicle
about
1.5km
from
the
lighthouse
and
hike
the
rest
of
the
way.
Not
bad
except
for
some
funky
smells
and
swarms
of
flies
hanging
out
on
whatever
was
making
the
stench.
In
a
4x4
we
would
have
been
able
to
make
it
all
the
way
to
the
overgrown
parking
lot
which
leaves
a
0.5km
hike
to
the
lighthouse.
The
hike
up
the
drive
is
more
of
the
same:
the
drive
in
disrepair
and
overgrown
brush.
When
we
arrived
at
the
lighthouse
the
theme
co
tinued
with
damaged
fencing,
uncut
grass,
overgrown
brush
and
peeling
paint.
However,
the
views
were
wonderful.
The
surrounding
land
is
made
of
100ft
cliffs
looking
down
on
pristine
waters
-
made
the
trek
worth
it.
I
hope
USA
or
PR
Dept
of
Natural
Resources
uses
some
of
their
budget
to
make
repairs
and
clean
up
because
this
is
a
gem
that
needs
preservation.
