It's taken a little time to get round to writing this review... but it simply couldn't be rushed. What can we say about Carter & Follows? The journey we were taken on from the moment we stepped inside was like a fairy tale... we were greeted with a most welcoming smile from Tom who treated us like royalty....made us feel both relaxed and special. We were only there to browse really as we had a bespoke/custom idea in mind for our wedding bands. This only increased Tom's enthusiasm which lead to us trying rings for size and the types of bands etc as well as the types of metals. The journey lead around their beautiful little shop of treasures to the main table where we were invited to sit and share out thoughts and ideas of what we were wanting. This bought the lovely Penny into the fold and my then fiancée (now wife) & I felt even more relaxed. The service was truly remarkable especially given we gave no strong indications we were ready to buy or anything. We shared our designs and together as a group we discussed how it could come about and the process. We were shown different fonts and ring colour comparisons. The story of how Carter & Follows came about is just heart lovingly magical... but i won't give any spoilers. We were really taken by Penny & Tom and they made us feel like friends all through the journey. We left the shop and within seconds knew we had found the most spectacular place to have our rings be made into reality. Obviously we went ahead and the journey didn't stop... we were treated to email updates and even phone calls. Just when we thought they couldn't possibly go any further they managed to surprise us further even going to great levels to show us how the engraving would look on silver rings just to get an idea. On our special day we had warm messages from both Penny & Tom and a beautiful card. I honestly coukd write pages and pages but if you've been kind to read all this so far... what are you waiting for... pay them a visit. We could not be happier... the rings are beautiful and the service was just simply the best. We will forever smile and think fondly of Carter & Follows every time we look lovingly at our personal bands. Absolutely amazing, I got my wedding ring designed and made here and I would not hesitate in going back. Nothing was ever too much of an ask. Very friendly service. Kept in communication with me through out the whole process, and rememberd my face even after just one visit, it's those small details that make it such an amazing jeweler's.

We were just reminiscing about how amazing our ring discovery process was, and felt compelled to come and leave a review. Not only do we adore the rings (the platinum leaf one was bespoke and designed in store) but Penny was SO helpful and friendly that we actually enjoyed the whole process. Plus they re-shaped my wife's engagement ring which had been poorly resized elsewhere, for free, just because they are nice people who genuinely enjoy sending off happy customers with perfect jewellery. Best store experience of my life.

Penny and Tom have been brilliant. From when my now husband went to choose my engagement ring, to going back to choose wedding rings and have my engagement rings cleaned, they have been amazing. They are so lovely, reassuring, supportive and positive and really gave us exactly what we wanted! Can't recommend enough - you won't be disappointed!

We don't normally write reviews but Carter & Follows definitely deserve 5 stars - it's an incredible ring and service from Penny was top-notch! We were struggling to find a wedding ring which would perfectly fit around my pear-shaped engagement ring, so we took a trip to the Lanes to try and find something. We stumbled across Carter & Follows and I am so glad we did! Penny took the mould of my ring to make sure the wedding ring fitted perfectly. The communication was incredible (we don't live locally) and she helped us out anyway she could. Penny has even offered to resize my engagement ring and wedding ring and give them a clean before the big day in September! Carter & Follows really go above and beyond and we couldn't recommend them enough! Thank you :)

We found Penny and Tom at Carter and Follows through a friend who was having a bespoke piece of jewellery made. As we were planning our wedding, Carter and Follows was top of our list of people to speak to for our wedding rings... In addition to the wedding rings, I also wanted a vintage gold watch chain reworked so that it could be used with a pocket watch on the wedding day, while also being convertible to a necklace that could be worn after the wedding. Penny and Tom are such lovely people and have created a beautiful atmosphere in the store. They went above and beyond to really understand what we were looking for, and delivered in spades. The pieces they created really helped to make our day special, especially with the sentiment surrounding the watch chain. We would not hesitate to recommend Penny and Tom at Carter and Follows!

Penny and Tom were so lovely and knowledgeable in working out what wedding rings worked best for me and my (now) husband. They made the experience fun while sharing their expertise so the we ended up with the perfect wedding rings for us. They were even kind enough to have my engagement ring (which I’d not purchased there) polished a few days before the ceremony so it sparkled in the pictures, and on top of that, Penny helped me work out a last minute seating plan issue! The guys were lively very interested in what I would like advised me and guess what first shop we purchased hand made design. We had THE BEST experience with Carter and Follows! We were looking for a wedding band for a while, went to various shops in Hatton Garden & others in the Laines but couldn’t find what we wanted. Not only did Carter and Follows have the perfect ring but they made some adjustments perfectly and quickly. The service was exceptional, Penny communicated amazingly. I had been looking for a vintage ring in Brighton but my friend suggested we go in here. He could not have been more right! Penny and Tom were so welcoming and came up with the perfect wedding ring to fit around my engagement ring and still look amazing alone as well. We had our wedding bands made by the lovely Penny and Tom last year and we could not be happier! Not only do we both have our dream rings, designed exactly how we wanted them, but the service from both Penny and Tom was exemplary. We were even able to work through a completely new setting design for the claw set diamond band, prioritising both the look but also the longevity and strength of the design. P&T were incredibly flexible, but also honest about what was best for us, and we can't thank them enough. If you want to do the Lanes jewellery experience, without the pushy sales approach - this is the only place to go. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing service from Penny & Tom. When searching for an engagement ring several years ago, I saw a wedding band in the window of Carter and Follows and fell in love with it, hoping I'd find something like it when the time came to buy the wedding rings. I tried it on, took a photo and forgot all about it. We had mentioned at the time how lovely Penny & Tom both were. Ring shopping in Brighton can be quite daunting. The surrounding jewellers can be very pushy and intimidating. We even experienced staff rushing out of the stores to usher us into the shop just from us browsing in the windows. This didn't happen at Carter & Follows. The atmosphere was calm, not pressured, friendly, warm and welcoming. We were impressed all those years ago, and just as impressed when we came back three years later to buy the wedding ring I fell in love with. We searched all the jewellers in the lanes, for hours. Being pressured by 99% of the stores, feeling quite deflated and wanting to go home. Then we walked past Carter & Follows and I saw the first ring I loved before. We were greeted by Penny who made us feel so welcome. The ring I wanted had to be made and the whole process was wonderful. We were kept up to date on timescales and were offered free delivery of the ring if we couldn't get to town to collect as we aren't local. Upon collection, service was just as great. Couldn't fault either of them at all. After the wedding I decided I wanted my rings tacked together to stop them moving separately from one another. I was surprised to hear they were willing to do this FOC as I'd purchased the wedding band with them. They also cleaned my engagement ring in the process and rhodium plated my late Nans ring for me. Their attentive natures, friendly personalities, along with their competitive prices and no pressure approach has won them customers for life. We will now always use Carter & Follows for future purchases or bespoke jobs, and I have recommended them to family and friends. I'd recommend them over any of the other jewellers in Brighton. We got our bespoke wedding rings, and my custom engagement ring from Carter and Follows and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my custom or precious jewellery. It can be intimidating walking into jewellery stores but they are so friendly and welcoming, and we never felt any pressure. They are also so knowledgeable it really makes finding the perfect piece of jewellery a collaborative experience and to top it off the quality of craftsmanship is unreal.
