Perched
atop
the
Wonderland
Range,
this
is
one
of
the
best
lookouts
in
the
Grampians,
with
views
out
over
the
valley
containing
Halls
Gap
and
Lake
Bellfield,
plus
some
other
ranges.
Starting
at
the
Wonderland
carpark
it's
a
fairly
strenuous
1
to
1.5
hour
walk
to
get
there,
mostly
uphill
with
many
steps
in
places
but
also
a
few
level
sections
for
some
respite.
There
is
also
a
seat
at
halfway,
called
(surprise
surprise)
the
half
way
seat.
The
track
through
bushland
sections
is
easy
to
follow,
however
where
it
crosses
open
rocky
areas
it's
not
so
obvious,
so
follow
the
markers
fixed
to
rock
surfaces
at
regular
intervals,
otherwise
it's
easy
to
lose
the
track.
En
route
it
also
passes
through
two
narrow
chasms
-
the
Grand
Canyon
(near
the
bottom,
just
after
the
track
starts)
and
Silent
Street
(near
the
top).
When
I
was
there
in
September
2023
I
couldn't
walk
all
the
way
through
the
Grand
Canyon
as
the
steps
at
its'
upper
end
were
closed
for
repairs,
so
I
had
to
take
another
track
which
passed
around
it
to
the
west.
Just
beyond
the
lookout
are
two
interesting
rock
features:
the
"Fallen
Giant",
a
large
slab
of
rock
which
has
fallen
off
the
cliff
face
and
is
now
sitting
precariously
on
a
ledge,
and
the
"Nerve
Test",
which
if
you
see
it
you'll
understand
why
it's
called
this.
Take
care
if
exploring
these,
as
there
are
no
fences
on
the
edge
of
the
cliffs,
and
I
don't
recommend
taking
children
there.
All
in
all
it
may
be
a
fairly
tough
walk
for
most
people
but
the
views
at
the
top
are
just
reward.
