An abode where the goddess Adi shakti is worshipped as Devi Mookambika. One of the most famous temples in South India.Thousands of devotees visit the temple to find solace from their problems, pains and difficulties or to dedicate their religious vows.. A very peaceful environment with natural scenic beauty of the environment...Off season days are not that crowded comparatively..A must visit place in your Karnataka trip..

Kollur Mookambika Temple is located at Kollur, Udupi District in the state of Karnataka, India. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Mother Goddess known as Mookambika Devi. It is situated in the foothills of Kodachadri hills, on the southern bank of Souparnika River. The main deity of the temple is a swayambhu (self-born) jyotirlinga with a golden line cutting it into half, in which the left half represents Tridevis, and the right half represents Trimurtis. Along with this, a four-handed panchaloha idol of Goddess Mookambika is also installed. Rathotsava in the month of Phalguna and Navaratri in the month of Ashwina are the main festivals in this temple. Goddess Mookambika is said to be the name given to Goddess Parvati after she killed the demon Mookasura (also known as Kaumasura).

Very calm and positive Temple. Very clean and tidy. Expect huge crowd always. You may need to wait for 2+ hours to enter the Temple. Good restaurants around. Not much buses, but available ones are good. People are so nice and trustworthy. The path itself is very beautiful.

I was captivated by the charm and beauty of this remarkable place. Every aspect of my visit, from the atmosphere to the service, left a lasting impression on me. The first thing that struck me was the warm and welcoming ambiance. The exudes an inviting and friendly atmosphere that instantly made me feel at ease. itself is a sight to behold. The attention to detail in the architecture and design is awe-inspiring. Every nook and cranny seemed to have a story to tell, and I found myself immersed in the rich history and culture of the place. It was truly a feast for the eyes and a photographer's paradise.

This serene and positive temple offers a clean and tidy ambiance. Be prepared for large crowds, often resulting in a 2+ hour wait to enter. The surrounding area boasts good restaurants, and while bus options are limited, the available ones are reliable. The local people are exceptionally friendly and trustworthy. The path leading to the temple is remarkably beautiful, enhancing the overall experience. Despite the crowd, the tranquil atmosphere and the hospitality of the locals make it a worthwhile visit, contributing to a peaceful and fulfilling spiritual journey

Amazing temple around 2.5hrs from udupi. Last 1hr drive is in beautiful landscape full of greenery and dense clouds. Usually this place have huge rush (as told by regular visitors). At time of our visit it was around 15-20min line though we took tickets and skipped line. Men have to go without upper body clothes. And no shorts etc for anyone. When you enter main temple priest may offer you to stand on elevated structure and explain about the temple and have clear views for long time. It was definitely a calming and peaceful visit. Do buy prasad from temple authority when you exit after darshan. It has a combo which has 2 types of prasad churna, tilak, teertha jal. Also take laddoos separately. Buy more share more for prosperity 🙏

A very small locality in the midst of a dense forest along the Sauparnika river is where this powerful temple is situated. A few budget hotels for stay is available in close proximity. 30-35 nos car parking space is available within the premise. Decent Washrooms are available. The place is very energetic. This temple allows darshan to gents only if they wear dhoti and no shirt on thier shoulders. For women, saree is must. Temple admin is very strict on this. Mobile phone were allowed inside temple. Good part is no body chases you behind. No beggars. Before you enter the temple, my advice to the visitors would be to know from various sources about the temple history and legend. The shrichakra in front of devi is said to be installed by Sri Adi Shankara. Get a darshan of that without fail. There are various entry tickets for quick darshan. You get Anna Prasada after your darshan based on timing. It was a real pleasure to have that. Very delicious one. Bisibelabaath and rice payasam were served to us. Devasthanam also sell prasadam. They also offer kashaya or kadaa, but only on specific time. Please ask priests and have it. There are few shops around to collect souvenirs, definitely not overpriced. Can have a look at it if you want. It's a must visit place for a religious person. Pay a visit and have the blessings of Shri.Mookambika devi.

A combination of beautiful architecture, unique cultural heritage coupled with the beauty of Western Ghats around it makes this one of the unique sites in Karnataka. You can appreciate all these things while having a spiritual experience at this holy site. Close to it lies the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary which one can also visit.

Kollur Sri Mookambika temple is one of the most sacred and popular temple in Karnataka. It is believed that only if the Goddess wills, you will be able to visit the temple and not when you will. The temple timings are 5:00am to 1:45pm, 3:00pm to 9pm. Sigandur and Udupi are nearby Kollur. So, you can plan to visit those places when you are here. Additionally, there are some tourist attractions nearby namely, Kodachari Hill trekking, Arasana Gundi falls, Murdeswar beach, etc. Devotional or Adventurous, you can make either trip while on your way to Kollur.

This is one of the best place I had visited in my life. The peace of mind after the prayer can’t be expressed in words. I don’t know whether others will be getting the same from here or not. But for me personally, I’m very much satisfied and relaxed when I complete the yearly visit here. My first trip with my wife and family altogether immediately after marriage was also to Kollur Mookambika Temple.

Temple is very good, the Darshana was quick as we bought the direct entry ticket(500 rs) that includes two adults. Very calm and quiet temple with goddess. Vidhyarambam ticket was 200 per kid and it was very quick didn’t consume more than 5 minutes. The pandit will ask to repeat couple of slokas and then the followed by vidhyarambam procedure. The temple guest house is available it’s on first come serve basis. There is no option of advance booking.

One of the famous Devi temple in south india, mostly visited by devotees from Kerala. They have now dedicated building for annadhanam. The Saraswati mandap inside temple is known for vidyarambh, a ritual to formally start education for kids of 3 year's. Navaratri festival and annual rathotsav (mid March - Apr) are major festival period here. Despite being a famous temple, the surrounding is dirty especially the dirty water flowing openly in front of temple is a huge disappointment.

We recently visited this place on a weekday (Thursday). Temple premises was very clean and less crowded. There are timings when it's closed for Darshan and we were lucky to reach before time. Inthe morning around 10 they close Darshan for 30-45 minutes. For men- it's mandatory to be shirtless while taking Darshan (Jeans/Trousers/Lungi is fine). You can easily find clean restroom and few restaurants near temple vicinity.

Mookambika is the union of Adipara Shakthi and Parabramha as the Linga has integrated on its left side Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswathi. Kollur Mookambika temple is a well renowned Devi kshetra and well visited by devotees across Southern India besides the other parts of the country. The temple, built in typical Kerala style, houses Devi, who is said to be quite powerful. The temple was initially a dense forest, but now, houses several facilities including restaurants and lodges, besides shops and toilets for the benefit of pilgrims. Owing to the huge crowds, the vehicles are not allowed to enter the vicinity of the temple. The parking space is about 700-800m away (7-10 min walk). The temple also provides anna prasada to all devotees (Langar), free of cost, which is simple and delicious. This demonstrates the importance of equality amongst all... Please try whilst here. Waiting time can be anywhere between 30-90 min depending on the rush. Please factor this when planning for a trip. Nearest major towns are Udupi (60km) - 1.5 hrs and Mangalore (100KM) - 2.5 hrs. The road is hilly and very scenic. One could visit Jog falls, Murdeshwar and Sringeri from here.

1200 Years old Kollur Mookambika temple, considered as the most sacred place for keralites ,out of Kerala. Kerala is known as a very divine place by Indians, but the natives had many misfortunes even since the days of Shankaracharya. Adi shankara once worshipped goddess Saraswati in order to bring the deity to his native Kerala, where none of her temples existed. When Devi answered his prayers, he told her his wish is to see her accompanying him to proceed to kerala. She agreed to come, but only in one condition - that when he was walking she would follow and if he stops and looks back, she will stay there itself and will not continue. Adi shankaracharya agreed. So they started walking down from Kodachadri hills. While walking, he could hear the sound of her anklets, so he made sure that she was with him. Suddenly, the sound of the anklets stopped. Adi shankara looked back in intense doubt. When he saw she was still with him, Adi shankara apologized, knowing that he had broken her condition.
