A very beautiful and powerful temple in Karkala. Its very beautiful, the garlands and the idol is set up so beautifully while taking darshan you fell very blissful and holy. A must visit if you are near Karkala. The temple gets closed in afternoon i think around 12.30pm and reopens again after few hours.

Located in the heart of Karkala city, the temple is a an important place of worship mainly for the Konkani speaking community. Dedicated to Lord Venkatramana and hence also known as PaduTirupati temple. The temple architecture is similar to any GSB temple and is spread over vast area. Localites visit here daily. You might have difficulty in finding parking space. A must visit if you are in Karkala.

Temple loacted on the way to Udupi to Karkala. This temple js dedicated to Lord Srinivasa and Venkataramana. The temple is also called Padutirupathi because of its link to the tirupati temple located in Kerala. Pooja vidhanam performed here resembles the same procedure as in tirupathi. The temple is peaceful, Devine, and filled with positive energy. A must visit place in and around Karkala.

Venkataramana Temple Karkala : Venkataramana Temple Karkala, also known as Padutirupathi, is a temple in the Indian state of Karnataka. It was built by Karkala’s Goud Saraswat Brahmins and dedicated on April 25, 1537. History of Venkataramana Temple Karkala : This temple dates back to the 14th century, when the Jain Bhairarasa Odeyars ruled Karkala and the surrounding areas. The Jain Odeyars gave land to the Gaud Saraswat Brahmins so that they could live a happy life. They also gave them lands for agriculture because these Brahmins did it for a living. The priests of this community, namely the Joishys, Puraniks, and Tantris, were the main people who existed since the 14th century. The exact date of construction of this Venkataramana Temple Karkala is unknown because there were no written materials or documents available at the time.

Divine place of lord Venkateswara. Very powerful temple for anyone who visits. If you are in the area then a visit is a must. You will feel very free in the mind after coming here. Opposite to this is the lord Hanuman temple. Another must visit temple. Outside the temple is a famous shop that sells local items. Make sure you buy pickles and dry papad from here.

Karkala Sri Venkatramana temple is an ancient temple belonging to Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community and it is also the main attraction of Karkala. The devotees from all corners visit the temple and obtain the grace of the Lord Sri Venkatramana. hermit from Tirupati, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Venkatramana came to Karkala and handed over an idol of the Lord to the people. That idol was installed in the temple. The hermit laid down a condition that the idol would be taken every year to Tirupati along with the Kanika received and the hermit settled down in Karkala itself. The Kanika received in the name of the Lord of Tirupati is offered religiously to Tirupati Temple, periodically in a pilgrimage called “Rama Dandu”. So far five such Yatras in the History of the Temple, the latest being in 1970, have taken place. Once a year in a grand and ceremonious procession Lord Shri Srinivasa is taken out in Golden Mandapa and Lord Shri Venkatramana in the Golden palanquins for Vanabhojana which literally means an outing to the forest in a magnificent Hagalu Utsav,to the eastern part of Karkala. Since Tirupati is in the east,Lord Srinivasa is supposed to have been taken to Tirupati. Incidentally, this is the only day in a year when the Lord Srinivasa is taken out of the temple. Thus the word given to the hemit is symbolically kept up year after year. The presiding deity over here Lord Srinivasa is called the Lord of Tirupati by the devotees, as the daily poojas here are almost like the ones offered at Tirupati. Therefore Karkala is also known as “Padu Tirupati” (Western Tirupati). The gold, silver & wooden “Vahanas” and also the other paraphernalia of the temple, speak volumes about the glory and the greatness of this temple.

As one of the Pandits remarked, it's the blessings of Sri Venkataramana that made us drive to the temple on a Saturday morning, which is considered auspicious to visit a Balaji temple. Like every other ancient Hindu temple, this temple too has its unique history of how it came in to existence in 14-15th century. It is still being maintained by the Gauda Saraswath Brahmin sect, as a private temple, but it is completely accessible to the general public. The Pandits here perform the Pooja with reverence and devotion to the God. Most of them are well settled businessmen, as I learnt from interactions with couple of them later. Some also speak fluent English. What came as a surprise to me was the awesome traditional feast with many regional specialities, served in a banana leaf. Worth visiting. Only challenge - no dedicated parking space available for the temple and it is also right on the main road. So, you need the blessings of Srinivasa for an invite and to find a parking slot for your car, if you plan to drive to the temple. I was indeed blessed, as I found one with least trouble 🙂 Om Namo Venkatesaya 🙏

Nice place to have peace of mind. One of the prominent temple in the area. The temple is managed by Gowda Saraswata Brahmans. This is an ancient temple having a history of 550 years. Sri Venkataramana Vishnu temple is one of the ancient temples resembling the Tirupati temple and hence temple is known as Padu Tirupati. All the rituals and the puja traditions followed are similar to that in the Tirupathi Temple.

Temple renovation done very well some years ago. Tranquil surroundings and peaceful and relaxing Ambience in the evening. The Temple itself is very beautiful with ancient granite rock carving on the main doors and the pillars. People do maintain the decorum of the place.

The temple is located on the main road of Udupi - Dharmasthala road. The temple is very charming. However they are pretty strict with the dress norms so have a backup plan for this.

A beautiful temple at the heart of the karkala city, parking space is a bit congested. It is also called Padu tirupathi, main deity is lord Venkataramana. The staff and purohits are very kind. In front of temple there is a huge hanuman temple. The prasada provided in temple is just mouth watering.

This is a wonderful temple. The Main deity of Shri Venkateswara in this temple is exact replica of Tirumala Tirupathi. One priest belonging to this area Karkala brought the diety from Tirupati and consecrated here owing to the difficulties of Bhaktas faced to travel all the way to Tirumala. So this place was called PADU Tirupati meaning West Tirupati.
