Easily, the most synonymous of the landmarks with the town of Sirsi. The huge temple looks very pleasing to the eyes with those red murals, of Konkani architecture, adorning on the white background of the walls. The current day building was built in the late 17th century. The temple courtyard can hold hundreds of pilgrims at given point in time. The town of Sirsi is one of the cultural and heritage centres of Karnataka and this temple is the centre stone of the town.

After the darshan youl be given theertha where you can enjoy the painting and art that is dipicted on the walls of the temple.

The short legacy of this place just made me stand still.. 350 years is a long long time... And this place has every aspect of sanctity and calmness... While photography is prohibited in the inner sanctum, I took the liberty of using a 10x and framed this.. For reasons beyond my comprehension, I found this place one that I will remember for eternity.. Beautiful... Peaceful.. Neat and gives you all those moments of oneness with the Diety

I recently visited the Sirsi Marikamba Devi Temple in the serene town of Sirsi, Uttra Kannada, Karnataka, and I was captivated by the profound spiritual ambiance that enveloped the temple grounds. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the temple's architecture is a testament to rich cultural heritage, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant colors. The sanctity of the temple is palpable, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The priests' devotion is evident as they conduct rituals with utmost sincerity, adding to the overall spiritual experience. The deity, Goddess Marikamba, exudes a divine presence that left me feeling a deep sense of peace and connection. The temple complex is well-maintained, and the surrounding natural beauty enhances the overall visit. It's a perfect blend of religious significance and scenic beauty. I recommend visiting during festivals when the temple comes alive with vibrant celebrations, offering a glimpse into the local culture and traditions. Whether you seek spiritual solace or simply wish to appreciate architectural marvels, Sirsi Marikamba Devi Temple is a must-visit destination. My visit left an indelible mark, and I look forward to returning to this sacred haven in the future.

An awe-inspiring gem of history and spirituality, the Marikamba Temple in Sirsi, built in 1688, exudes an irresistible aura of devotion and culture. The captivating idol of Devi Marikamba, resembling her presence in the very room, leaves one speechless. While cameras remain stilled by the sanctity within, the temple's grandeur and intricate wall art create an experience beyond words. As I wandered through its ancient corridors, I couldn't help but feel the weight of time and tradition. The temple's significance stretches far beyond its breathtaking architecture; it was here that the buffalo sacrifices ceased thanks to Mahatma Gandhi's intervention, marking a turning point in our culture. The biannual Jatra, attended by countless devotees, underscores its importance as a spiritual epicenter. The contrast of the modern exterior against the timeless interior adds to its mystique, a subtle reminder of the passage of time. To experience this haven of divinity, secure your puja tickets in advance, for the temple buzzes with life within. And as you exit, don't forget to embrace the tradition of not looking back after praying in the smaller adjoining temple. A visit to Sirsi remains incomplete without paying homage to this sacred sanctuary that encapsulates centuries of reverence and transformation.

The Marikamba Temple in Sirsi is a Hindu temple dedicated to a form of the goddess Durga. It was built in 1688. The Sirsi Marikamba jaatre (fair) is held every alternate year in the month of March and taken through the town. It is attended by a very large number of devotees. One of the most famous and biggest fair (jaatre) of the state of Karnataka. Tuesday and Friday is best to visit, navaratri and jaatre(fair) time is special, mask is compulsory due to covid-19. Paid parking is available nearby, "prasad" timing is 12pm to 3pm. Temple visiting time 6am - 9pm everyday.

You can enjoy at most peace inside the Temple Avarana(premises). Here we can watch famous art on the walls of the temple which is called as Kavi Art(ಕಾವಿ ಕಲೆ). You can do udi- traditional cloth samarpan (ಉಡಿ). Even you can get udi there itself. Prasadam vyvasta is also there. Beautiful place to visit to get inner peace. This is place is dedicated to Mata Marikamba with asta bhujas . Place is famous for Maari jaatre. Seats(like in banks) are available inside the premises. Very very neatly maintained temple. The Sirsi Marikamba jaatre (chariot procession) of the deity is held every alternate year in the month of March . It is said to be the most famous and biggest fair of Karnataka. It depicts the story of the goddess killing mahishasura

Shree Marikamba Devi is a very powerful Goddess of Sirsi🙏🏻 You can experience the powerful positive vibes here. The architecture and paintings of the temple is unique and graceful. As per the people,In ancient days bull was offered to Devi at the time of Sirsi Fair as per the ancient customs. Once Devi was not ready to come to her place of fair called 'Gadduge' , Bhagavan Shreedhar Swamiji came into this place , the devotees prayed to calm down Devi , So Swamiji Sprayed the Teertha and Devi beacame calm and she came to her Gadduge' easily after that process.

If you visit Sirsi, you cannot afford to miss this old temple dating back to 1688. Durga in the form of Doddamma. She has 8 shoulders. They used to sacrifice a buffalo here till Mahatma Gandhi led a movement against it. The bi annual Jatra is attended by phenomenal crowds. The outside facade is new and reminds one of the Goan temples. But inside is still the old construction. You can tickets for the puja before you go inside. It is crowded inside. Outside there is a smaller temple where once you pray you are not supposed to look back.
