Wow. I rarely give a restaurant a flawless rating, but this is certainly earned. An unassuming exterior leads to an incredible dining experience. On top of the food being incredible the staff are a hallmark of personal and friendly service. The meat is expertly fried and seasoned to ABSOLUTE perfection. The sides are all delicious and worth your attention. My favorites were the fried okra, baked beans and fries. They have some of the best fried green tomatoes I’ve ever had so be sure to order those as a starter. Please take a trip to this gem of a restaurant.

Great fried chicken packed with a kick. The food is simple yet tasty. Compared to most places the fried chicken breast here is juicier and tender with a slight crunch to the skin. So even picking the white meat, the bites are excellent. If you like collard greens, upgrade one of your sides to it. The collard green is cooked tender with a hint of meaty taste - not greasy. Baked beans are yummy and sweet. Happy eating

Love everything about this place! Parking is tight, but not all the time, and there’s plenty of street parking. They’re originally from Kentucky, where we know they do chicken right. Ask for extra crispy, and definitely go hot if you can handle it. If not, you’ll still love it. Fantastic stuff. Never fails to hit.

And here is outstanding it reminds me of my mothers, but it actually has some flavor! Very crispy I ordered two dark meat pies they were cooked perfectly. The coleslaw was similar to KFC, but tasted actually more fresh baked beans were regular old baked beans didn’t make my stocks go up and down but I thought they were pretty good Ice tea was outstanding and I read a lot of ice tea so if it’s outstanding, I mean you got to try this place awesome stuff great fried chicken I’m glad I found it so that’s cool. Our servers name was Ray and she was outstanding very kind very helpful refilled my tea without even me asking wonderful service here!

I had a hankering for Fried Chicken and this didn't disappoint. I got (2) 3pc Dark with 4 side items, plus the Chocolate Pie. It was all pretty tasty. The chicken could have been dipped better in the the batter. The Baked Beans and Okra were good, nothing was hot, more warm. The Potato Salad and Cole Slaw was good a well. The service was really good. I'll most likely recommend this place and be back.

I finally made it here after hearing so many good things. The young lady that took my order was friendly and even asked if I wanted a lot of ice or a little with my iced tea. I loved that attention to detail. Unfortunately they were out of my favorite chicken part, the thighs. So I got the 2 pc. white meat combo (breast and wing) with baked beans and potato salad. The chicken was fresh out of the fryer, crispy, succulent and juicy with just the right amount of spiciness. The beans were perfectly seasoned and the potato salad has perfectly cut ingredients making for a creamy and crunchy mayo pickle combination.

We ordered the fried pickle spears and the 1/2 chicken with seasoned fries. We weren’t super hungry but we’re glad we got to sample a little bit of everything! Both the dark and white meat were tender, flavorful, and seasoned with the right amount of heat. The fries weren’t as seasoned as we expected but still hit the spot nonetheless. You pretty much can’t go wrong with fried pickles. All in all, we left super full content. Thanks for a great experience!

So my boyfriend and I tried Gus’s out for the first time and it was a down south experience. I love the southern dining setup, the service is nothing less than “Southern Hospitality” 😊 Onto the food…we had fried tomatoes as an appetizer and they were Bomb! (Full of flavor) Chicken was good, different flavor than I’m used to but decent, really no need for a pepper 🌶, the spices in the chicken are there! Sides: Macoroni was good, potato salad was less than average, beans were good, my bf liked the Cole slaw. Overall I enjoyed the experience. Probably won’t rush back but definitely something to try out !

We started off with fried pickles, and they were outstanding. I order the three chicken tenders with slaw and beans. The chicken was tender but the fried batter wasn’t crispy. We ordered fries that were kind of soft and soggy. Our waitress was fantastic and the dining room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking.

We had a great experience today at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. The parking lot is narrow with tight spots. Once you walk in, sit anywhere you like. Someone will come to the table and take your order. The food comes out right away. Not sure how they do it, but the chicken is light, fried to absolute perfection, not greasy and stays piping hot the entire time. I enjoyed a two piece white meat snack with a side of greens and potato salad. And my husband had a two piece dark meat, same sides. Great flavor. Would eat here again. Just a side note. On Astros game day, get there early. After the game was over, it got packed!

Started off with the fried pickles and ranch which were fried to perfection and had an excellent dill flavor. Ordered three chicken tenders, beans, and Cole slaw. Chicken was rubbery, hard to eat, and not crisp. Coleslaw and beans were too sweet. The service was quick and efficient. Would go back for the pickles, but elsewhere for the chicken and sides.

We have been to Gus’s all over the country and this one did not disappoint! The food was 🔥 as usual and the staff was even more so. I was very impressed with the friendly and attentive staff. All the employees we encountered were super kind and quick to smile and greet us. We had a group of 12 and were made to fell as if we were special guest! The place was well kept and clean as well as the restrooms. Some in our party had never been to a Gus’s Fried Chicken and we were so glad that this was their first experience. The greens and fried okra were my favorite this visit outside the chicken of course but the few that had the Mac and cheese said it was a game changer… hahaha I think that means it was fantastic!! Can’t wait to swing back in on our next trip to Houston! Keep it up guys!! 😁

The breading has a kick to it. Really enjoyed this place and the inside vibe. The tenders are a little less spicy than the pieces. If you have a no-spice tolerance you’ll feel it. With that said, it’s really good and highly recommend. Not the biggest coleslaw fan and this wasn’t anything special. Next time, going to switch out a couple of the sides and share. The fried green tomatoes were very good. Overall, recommend.

Juicy and hot fried chicken. It has a tiny bit of spice to it, but don't let that scare you, it's flavor spice not 'burn your mouth' spice. The slaw compliments the chicken well and the Mac and cheese is pretty good. I would skip the fries in the future it was too much. Beans were not my style but I can see that some would like them.

We’ve been to Gus’s a lot of time. Their food is consistent and it’s a great place for casual eats that hits the spot for 3 generations of our family. They have an awesome 4 piece wing special with 2 sides for about $12. The kids meals are good value too and filling for our growing boys. We like they have a 2 piece drum option for kids. Gus’s chicken has a thin flavorful crispy coating with just a slight kick to it. My husband always gets the fried okra and potato salad. My go to is fried green tomatoes, 3 piece dark meal, and a warm pecan pie with ice cream on the side so it doesn’t become a puddle on the plate. Can’t wait to go back!

The service is pretty good, the chicken is good, but it was tougher/drier than expected, I would prefer that it was dripping with sauce. The only real issues at this location is the limited parking and the food is a bit slow coming out. That said, I did like it, but there are other places to go to before returning.

Went on a Saturday night, 10 min before close. Spent $37 for 2 plates and fried pickles. Atmosphere is nice. Staff suggested visiting between 3PM-6PM for quiet, quality dining. Fried Pickles were amazing!! 10/10 Collard Greens 10/10 Mac & Cheese 6/10 (needs more seasoning and/or salt & pepper) Chicken 6/10 (Juicy but crust wasn’t crispy) Would I go again? Yes.

Best fried chicken I’ve had in forever!!! Waitress’s was very nice an courteous. I had the half chicken. With potato salad an Mac n cheese. Wife had tenders an dbl fries. Plus we tried the fried Okra. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Wish I lived around here to come back everyday.

I stopped in for a visit since I’m in search of the best fried chicken in Houston. Food overall was decent. Fried chickens slightly over. Seasoning had a small bite. The sides were amazing but service was non existent. When customers have to get up for refills, there should be a discount to our meal

When a restaurant calls itself world famous, it's either going to be trash or amazing. There is no in between. This was amazing. The best fried chicken I've ever had. Period. And the best fried okra, too. The building is very hot, so be sure to wear your most comfortable pair of jorts.

My gf & I always ran by here multiple times but never stopped inside. Until now, it was delicious, small but quiet, & great service. Our waitress was Angie, a young girl from Honduras. Excellent service!!!

Literally best fried chicken I’ve had in while. It tastes like a home cooked meal and felt like a warm hug. My boyfriend and I got the 4 piece tender meal with the red beans and rice and coleslaw. For desert, we tried the sweet potato pie and the chess pie. Both were delicious and tasted homemade. Would definitely recommend and absolutely coming back 👍
