Wonderful late lunch at El Tiempo. Missed the lunch specials by an hour. Oh well. Carnitas were so good and the presentation even better. Homemade tortillas were delicioso 😋 . The enchiladas were good. Rice and charro beans were sabroso. Chips were fresh, warm ad crunchy. Salsas were nice especially the green one because had a bit of a kick. Tres Leches was a different, fluffier version than im used to although bueno. The experience was great. Didn't make upstairs but between the restrooms and the stairwell they took me back to La Strada Brunch days gone by. Recommend . Will return

My ground beef taco was bland. It was definitely not an $8 taco and the server informed me the price had just been raised to $10 per taco a la carte!🤯 Decent drink prices but for food my money is better spent else where!

Great place next to where I live. This is the same great food at all El Tiempo places. However (and I could be wrong) but it felt like their menu is more limited in options. Their drinks only come in one size. In the other place I could get jumbo margaritas… but they tasted good.

Delicious food with a great vibe. 2 story with plenty of seating. Everything was good although I will say it's on the pricier side. Valet is complementary. Got seated super fast and again the food was delicious. If you get seated in the top floor then you can get a pretty nice view of Westheimer.

Had carnitas from here for the first time. While expensive at 31$, it was a substantial quantity meal - combining the fixings, sauteed veggies, tortillas, and chips, it will easily feed two people no problem. The carnitas were perfectly done - soft on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside.

Food and service was great! Just a tad bit on the pricey side for what I ordered. Besides that, no complaints.

#JoeFoodTour we ❤️😍✅🍹love El Tiempo for TexMex. This location in particular is our go to when we want the best queso and the margaritas. Boston’s finest real estate agent Chuck Silverston came down for one night specifically to get a quick turnaround on his passport for his international trip. He says this is the best queso he has ever had. The fajitas and margaritas are #phenomenal. #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes

Perfect place for a large group on Sunday afternoon. We celebrated an 18th birthday in the family and there was room for us at around 1pm. It was great. The food was wonderful. The staff were attentive. The atmosphere was inviting and uplifting. Good experience overall.

Food was great. The Quail were perfect and the drinks were pretty tasty. I would come here again. The only things I would change is the volume of the music and the valet. The music was so loud it made the people around us scream to talk to the others at their table. In turn it makes you scream at the folks at your table. They charge you to park and eat? Interesting.

El Tiempo Cantina is a Tex-Mex chain which originated from Ninfa (Mama Ninfa) Laurenzo. Her husband, Domenic Laurenzo, died in 1969, and left Ninfa, their 5 children, and a failing tortilla factory behind. Due to shrinking profits, Ninfa had to get creative with making money, so from a single taco stand, she expanded this into her own restaurant, Ninfa’s, in 1973. Ninfa expanded into multiple restaurant ventures, and she passed away in 2003. Since Ninfa’s death, her family became involved in more restaurant ventures across Houston. Ninfa’s grandchild, Domenic Laurenzo, operated El Tiempo Cantina and expanded it to several locations across the city. They are known for their fajitas which Ninfa introduced to her own menu in 1973, and her family perfected them over the last 50-years. We typically go to the Montrose location. When they seat you, they start you off with their classic complimentary chips and two salsas (red/green). +Complimentary Chips and Salsa - 4.5/5 El Tiempo has an assortment of different tequilas available to make margaritas. You choose the brand of tequila you like, and they’ll handcraft it for you. +Casamigas Añejo Handcrafted Top-Shelf Margarita for $16.50 - 4/5 The main reason to come here is for their fajitas though. +Chicken and Beef Fajitas (with rice and beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, and cheese) for $44.99 - This is for the half pound which feeds two. These fajitas are excellent and are one of the most consistent, tastiest, and juiciest fajitas I have tried in Houston. - 5/5 Overall, El Tiempo Cantina is one of the best Tex-Mex restaurants to go to in Houston, especially if you’re in the mood for fajitas. I would highly recommend checking them out!

Excellent lighting for a romantic date. Good spot for a lunch time meeting or just to get together with friends. My wife and I split the carnitas 1/2 ib lunch plate. It was enough for us to have extra to take home, and it was only about $20 total. The carnitas are so tender, but they aren't pulled like you might typically see. I highly recommend it. The valet parking was also a nice touch.

I think that was one of the best meals I've ever had. You need to come here.

Food was great and the margaritas were strong, but this place was crowded and did take a while to seat us, however it was a Friday night in a busy area, so I understand the wait. I recommend a different time or making a reservation ahead of time. It’s a little overpriced but again, given the area, I can understand. I don’t see myself coming again due to the food being overpriced when I can get it at other restaurants for less, but it was a good time. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional.

The chips and salsa to start were really good. I loved the thin crispy tortilla chips. We ordered the chile con queso, beef fajitas and chicken enchiladas. I recommend the queso and steak fajitas, I will go back to have again. I would skip the enchilada, nothing special. We also had margaritas, one spicy and one regular, very good and strong. The service was so quick, everything we ordered came to the table within a few minutes of ordering it.

El Tiempo is a pretty consistent Tex-Mex chain. Just know it is not Mexican food. If you go in there looking for authentic Mexican food, you will be highly disappointed. This location, in particular, has a fun chill vibe. El Tiempo has the best margaritas hands down. I say this because their mixer is made with fresh ingredients and does not taste synthetic. Also, they have the best bartender "MAURICIO!" Lastly, parking is easy as they have valet.

El Tiempo was the number one recommendation I received when visiting Houston and it lived up to my expectations. Incredible Tex-Mex atmosphere and food! Will be coming back in any future visits to Houston. Highly recommend the Fajitas for any first time customers.

Had an out of town guest craving Tex-Mex. El tiempo served it up perfectly. Comfortable atmosphere without your regular chain vibes, great service, food & frozen margaritas. Vegetarian options were flavorful!

Picked up food to-go. Fantastic fajitas. Everything was nicely packaged in it’s own container. Team loved their lunch! Thanks El Tiempo for a great lunch! Took pictures of the building. Parking was a little weird due to the alleyway (?) but to have parking is huge plus in Houston.
