I’ll let the pics talk for themselves.. but yea… drinks to food… not recommended at all… drinks empty since our food arrived, tortillas not cooked all the way thru, eggs not cooked all the way thru. Chips were burnt. Salsas all watered down. Just a huge hell no…don’t waste your time, yet alone your $$.

It's more like texmex in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's mexican food... Taste like store bought or beans straight out of a can. Idk what it was but the enchiladas did not taste great. I've eaten other mexican places and in Mexico city. Also, the salsa was disappointing not spicy at all but I saw the type of customers and it was nothing but white folks... So that made sense why they wouldn't have spicy salsa. This food is good for white folks or who likes texmex. I wouldn't take my elderly grandparents who's straight from the motherland. To get an idea what to expect for those who has eaten mexican dishes. Waiter was okay, he seemed like he was done for the day but he did check on us and finally was kind at the end... Place is adorable and parking is decent. They have an outside patio that's covered so mosquitoes or flies won't bother you. A cute water fountain and great decoration.

Great place with nice ambience. Good portion and the waiters are very nice. I just wish they didn't charge $3 for a little jalapeno on the side... and those werenot hot either!! We forgot our bag at the table, they brought it to us while we were buying the candies. The candy/dessert shop is a must try.

Been here a few times. Food is good. Not a bad choice for a place to eat. The chips and salsa is so good I eat too much before my food comes out.

We came across this place, always looking to find a great new spot for Mexican food. It was our first time trying this place, which was very packed during our visit. Not very friendly upon entry to the business, the host did not greet us, just asking how many. However, it did not take them long to sit us down, around 15 minutes. Now, our waiter did not seem to be having a good day and was rude. At less, he was not trying to rush out after we ate. The food took only a short time to come out and looked delicious. The taco was good, with fresh homemade tortillas. The menudo was right on point and had excellent taste to it. However, it lacked meat, and it was mostly hominy. The chilaquiles are traditional. The atmosphere is perfect, and they have TV everywhere. The customer service was ok. They have clean restrooms, which is a top priority. Parking is limited, but they do have additional parking across the street. I recommend this place and try it again—hopefully a better experience. Safe travels. Prost

First time eating here, it was busy so naturally I assumed it’d be good. The food looks delicious but on arrival was cold and the meat was chewy, as if reheated. The rice was crispy as if it had been sitting out in the open. Our waiter was Miguel Ángel G, he was rude & cold, seemed to be having a rough morning. Customer service is definitely not their top priority. We weren’t greeted upon entry & when taken to our table it was still dirty. I had to request a different table. We had to wait a while for drinks & had to order everything at once. Definitely felt rushed to eat and go. Parking is limited but as to be expected with the area.

Enchiladas here are delicious and you can never go wrong with their breakfast! We come here often and no matter the time of day the service is outstanding and they are kid friendly 🙌 They have happy hour early in the morning if that’s your thing 😅

This place wasn't far from the museum district and I really enjoyed the food & the atmosphere. I wasn't sure what to order and my server recommended my dish and it was on point.

Best restaurant so far I've been to in Houston Mexican food Margaritas are great not only that the service was outstanding it was about an hour before they were closing and the waiter was very polite and courteous and professional that's what I'm used to and that's the way it should be with everybody regardless of what time it is

So this place is tricky. It could be awesome or absolutely horrible depending on their mood on that particular day. My last time there I ordered breakfast tacos (just eggs, cheese, and tortilla). The first few bites and I thought “this taco is perfect” and then I crunched on some egg shell. At first I thought “oh well, no biggie. Sometimes you get a little shell in your eggs.” No. This was next level sabotage. Whoever made those tacos managed to get a substantial amount of shell in each taco. Like it was deliberate. Like shell is included on the menu. If the taco was a movie the shell wasn’t an extra, it got top billing and was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting role a horror film. I was so hungry that I kept hoping that I encountered my last piece of shell, but it wouldn’t stop. The whole experience was me crunching and spitting over and over. Solid 3 out of 10 wouldn’t recommend.

Great Tex-Mex in a fun atmosphere. Service was just OK but they were very busy so it's understandable. Only negative is the salsa is kinda thin but some may like that.

Solid Mexican food restaurant. The wait staff was attentive and very nice. Enjoyed all the entrees and the appetizer. I thought the food could use a little salt. Will need to come back to verify. Would recommend if you’re looking to change up your routine. I would still recommend El T/Ninfas for when guests are in town and you want to “show them Htown”.

While in the mist of looking for a great authentic Mexican food, found this place but the only thing Mexican there is the name in the restaurant's name. LA Mexicana. Beans didn't taste like they were made fresh from the pot, instead had a flavor of coming out of the can. Nothing wrong with that just not the way I like them beans. The meat was cooked and served hot, cheese and sausage had no flavor normally a light spicy kick is normal but this one had no taste. Rice tasted a few days old. Frys weren't fresh they tasted as if they were frozen then cooked. The food could be better and the service was mute since entering the door the hostess come to brings to a table and never said a word neither spoke back when my wife asked her for an extra menu for our son. Despite the servers and waiters having little tables to attend service was a bit slow. Plates and portions were medium size. And for 3 plates and 3 drinks place is a little expensive. In my opinion try a different Mexican place before this one if you really want outhentic Mexican food.

La Mexicana is a true gem in Montrose. Their food is nothing short of amazing, offering a delectable taste of Mexican cuisine that never disappoints. What's equally impressive is the customer service you'll find here. The staff goes above and beyond to make your dining experience exceptional, adding that extra layer of warmth to your visit. In summary, La Mexicana is a must-visit spot for those seeking great food and top-notch customer service in Montrose. It's a delightful destination for anyone looking to savor the flavors of Mexico.

This restaurant is terrific! Their happy hour is always enjoyable. The food is flavorful. I love the tiles throughout the building, they look hand-painted! And the servers are exceptional, as always. Check this great place out located in the heart of Montrose!

Being going here since I was a kid. Great drinks. I love their jumbo burrito and their tamales. Locally owned and operated. Great service. Breakfast, lunch or dinner are all winners. My all time favorite Mexican restaurant.

Our place to stop for breakfast when coming into Houston. Breakfast is sold all day long. Fresh made flour and corn tortillas. Sopa de fideo just like home. Menudo is also tasty.

Setting a great standard in Mexican food. Love the decor, murals, enclosed patio. Chicken soup 🍲 was outstanding. Beef tips were plentiful, tender and delicious. Deserts outstanding.

The food is really good. High place for tex -mex, and some reviews are correct when it comes down to service. The hostess don't greet or welcome you when you walk in, they just look at you and look away. The Aguas frescas were amazing! It's a good decent place for the prize. They give alot of food especially the parrilladas.

The Margaritas where good because they're not strong. The nachos I had to send back because the fajitas where super tough and the sour cream looked like water. For sure not good. The Charlotte beans are good. Good atmosphere in the patio. I suggest the ground beef Crispy tacos over the fajita. Again. The service was bad as usual but I don't rate it off of that considering waiters come and go daily. I'll come back .
