Always a solid choice. Doesn’t matter what time of day they have something for you. I recently went on the last Thursday of the month where I learned they only serve the brunch menu at dinner for those individuals that cannot make it for a weekend brunch can still experience it. The food is fantastic, the salsa is always great, and on my most recent visit our waiter, Alejandro, was amazing. Very personable and great recommendations. On weekends they have a market out front and the bar makes great drinks! They also have a b-cycle station right outside so you can hop on a bike to explore the surrounding area right after.

I came to this places because I saw a TikTok about it. When I got to the places it’s hard to find a parking spot so we did valet parking. Hostess was nice and service was good. To start I got the crispy tacos con papas and chorizo. They tasted old not crispy at all. Then I got a tamal, that didn’t look like time. First bite and wasn’t good. I was expecting more about the food of this place because their prices but definitely I’ll never go back again. I gave it 2 ⭐️ because service was good. Food not recommended.

11/10 restaurant. The best REAL Mexican food in houston for the price, aside from Arnaldo Richard’s Picos. Only downside is menu prices. Even if you just go for dessert, get the 5 Leches cake – this alone is worth going. It’s the best I’ve tasted.

Cuisine that totally immerses you into the roots of true traditional Mexican food! Some things on the menu taste like street food in Mexico City while others are unique Aztec inspired Mexican fusion at its best! MidTown's secret gem located on Fairview

Service is Excellent Guacamole 🥑 is mediocre. Chips were oily and taste old. Price vs value vs portion is not as good as I expected. Civeche is below average. I was not impressed at all. It was Pico mixed with shrimp, and Avocado slices on top. It could be done much better. Price VS value is not good for the consumer. Restrooms are clean, good job on that. Atmosphere is ok, lack of music in the background, missing the energy. Valet is $10, also little pricy for a that type of restaurant. Most offer complimentary valet services. I heard so much about this place but my experience wasn't as I expected.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The drinks are fresh and delicious. I had the margarita of the day with Jamaica (Hibiscus) and it was perfectly balanced. Tuesday is Taco Tuesday and they have great deals. The meat is 1 choice only and comes in a cooking pot for you to create your own tacos. I had the Chicken Tinga Tostadas and this was absolutely excellent. I am going to crave these from now on. Salsa is excellent and not too spicy as well. The restaurant does not accept cash and does contactless payments.

Authentic Mexican food was good. However, I would have liked complimentary chips and salsa. The menu was limited the day I went. The carafe of water and mini Mason jars were cute but I would have preferred filtered water. You can absolutely tell it was water straight from the tap. I left still feeling kinda hungry for a $24 plate. This pictured plate was $18.

This place has a really lovely ambiance inside and is usually bustling on the weekends. I went recently with my mom and was pleasantly surprised by the food and drinks. The margaritas are nice and strong, and I ordered the asado de res which was one of the most heavenly beef stews I've ever tasted. It was spicy, smoky and savory all in one and the beef tips were oh so tender. I only wish it came with more rice, but that's a minor detail! Overall, I would definitely come back – only downside is that parking can be a bit tricky to find and the menu is a tad on the pricey side but you get what you pay for.

This restaurant offered great service. I loved the ambience and the staff was very welcoming. Cindy took care of us and she was very informative on what the restaurant offered. I ordered Bernie’s dish and it was great. I also ordered El Cafe de Olla. It was great. They offer a wide variety of pastries, and their breakfast dishes look very good.

Great spot! I usually come for brunch but I am glad to have sampled their dinner menu this time around. The cuisine here reminds me of my last trip to Mexico City plus a dash of culinary creativity. Service: We arrived just as they opened, so it was not busy. Service was excellent. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and intrigued us into trying menu items. Food: Top notch. Prior to arriving, we knew we were looking for a place that served huitlacoche (corn smut, aka fungus). To our delight we had two options and tried both. Tamal de cazuela and huitacoche quesadillas. We also had sopa de tortilla, salsas de cuchara, mole Verde, and ensalada de pedalos de Rosa. We also tried their amazing margaritas. Food was fresh and vibrant with flavor. What a treat! Atmosphere: Usually this place is very busy and loud for weekend brunch. This trip it was maybe 25% full by the time we finished in a weekday dinner service. Casual atmosphere, nice decor. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the lovely weather. They do have heaters outside as well. I will definitely come again to further sample the menu.

This place is in midtown, so automatically it made me think that it was going to be over hyped and the food mediocre at best. I am so glad I was proven wrong. Right from the start you are greeted by the Mexican colors, friendly and attentive staff, and traditional Hispanic music. The food came right away and the flavors did not disappoint. The meals were authentic Mexico City style (served in the in the manner of emphasizing the dish for that picturesque quality) and what set them apart was the seasoning, which you'll be hard pressed to find outside of someone's abuelita's house. With the location also comes the price, which is a little bit on the pricier side for some dishes like tamales or tortas, but it is worth it. Definitely coming here again for date night.

Great Service, atmosphere. Food is very authentic yet new and fresh. Wonderful service and presentation. They will take the time to explain every dish to you if needed. We had a large party and still the service was exceptional. Highly recommend either dinner or Sunday brunch. Drinks are very very good, I had two different margaritas and each was unique and very nice in its own way.

I loved everything about this place. The staff was amazing. They were so friendly and welcoming. The food wasn't pretentious and it felt like it was cooked by grandma. I was worried my chicken dish would be too spicy but it was perfect. A good amount of heat without burning your face off. The cocktails were lovely, too. I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Finally, I made it to this place! The food was good. The ambiance was cool. Had an incident with the children in our group, but we made the best of it! Had the michoacan carnitas. Being that I'm from michoacan, I know my carnitas! I would give the carmitas an 8 outta 10! What made the carnitas great would be the consume like juice. So good! Had the 5 leches cake and empanadas for dessert! Both 9 outta 10. A bit pricey but good quality food.

We enjoyed and excellent breakfast. Very nice coffees and unique pastries. Several nice Mexico City style breakfast options. We had a great meal and enjoyed the service very much. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch if you want to try some great options you won’t find anywhere else in Hoston.

I was there with my BFF and i order Tasajo y huarache and my friend order the Mila De Nopal. I liked the Mula de nopal better. The food was good and service was ok. Just do you know they do not take cash only credit card.

Fun atmosphere and good service. Definitely recommend. Everything we ordered was flavorful and delicious! Super nice to have some authentic Mexican cuisine rather than the standard tex-mex.

I’ve been coming to Cuchara on at least a monthly basis since it reopened after all the COVID closures. Every experience I’ve had with the staff has been pleasant. They make you feel like family. My top three go-to dishes are the chilaquiles rojos, pozole rojo, and encacahuatadas. When I’m feeling really hungry and hungover, I’ll go for the pambazo. These dishes never disappoint. I love the spice level and the flavoring. Don’t forget to add a drink to your order. The micheladas, margaritas, aguas frescas, and other cocktails are delicious. Keep doing a great job representing authentic Mexican cuisine. I am looking forward to the opening of Cucharita!

The food was absolutely delicious. I was hesitant of this place at first because it seemed to be a little expensive, but I can say now that it was worth it! The pozole rojo tasted just like the ones in Mexico City and the molletes were super yummy as well. I’ll be coming back whenever I’m craving a pozole like the ones I used to eat when I was little

This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Houston. The food is fresh and always delicious. You can seriously taste the love that went into it! The margaritas are amazing, but I think it is the atmosphere and service that has captured my heart. All of the staff are incredible, especially Alejandro and Ernesto. Cheers to you for a consistently fabulous dining experience every time I've come over the past 10+ years.

This Mexican restaurant is like a piñata of flavor in the heart of our vibrant neighborhood! It’s so unique that even the salsa can’t salsa like this place does. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a décor that screams “Fiesta, baby!” Their menu is like a culinary adventure, with dishes that are a fusion of tradition and wild imagination. The service is as warm and inviting as a Mexican sunset, and the atmosphere is so lively you’ll think you’re at a fiesta, even if it’s just a regular Tuesday. If you want a taste of Mexico right in the heart of our neighborhood, this place is a must-visit. Ole! 🌮🍹💃

Truly tasty and delicious central Mexico dishes. Everything we had was great. The salsas, entrees and deserts were some of the best I have ever had. My filet tips in red sauce was amazing! If you like spice... Get the habenaro crema, just go easy.

Agusto, our server was as delightful as our experience! Thank you, Eres lo máximo! Excellent mimosas, the hibiscus was our favorite. Molletes were full of flavor, needed a little more toasting on the bolillo for my liking. Green Chilaquiles were some of the best I’ve had in Houston, I choose to add chicken, crema, and easy over egg to my order. We will be back soon!

Our lechera coffee and pan dulce were amazing! The enchiladas poblanas were great as well. The enchiladas have a creamy poblano sauce that is very well done and the chicken was good. The breakfast taco was ok, felt like it needed a little something something to put it over the top. Maybe add some refried black beans or something like that. The tamales were Mexico city style, like burritos lol. It was a little too much masa for my taste, but hey it's a different style than what I'm used to. At the end they bring you a tray of the pan dulce and they explain what each one is. The coffee we ordered was prepared table side like they do in Mexico city. The coffee and pan dulce were the highlight for sure. Very little parking around the building maybe 6 or 7 spots.

Got the flautas, tacos chelo, quesadillas de huitlacoche, and tostaditas. Some knowledgeable friends did say the food was authentic, and there were lots of unique dishes on here. All the dishes were good shareable items. The tacos chelo were my favorite. I didn't expect the quesadillas to look like empanadas, but they were good as well (the fungus is a different taste). The margarita also had a different honey taste to it, but it was yummy!

1000% happy this place opened up, great new brunch spot in Montrose. I loved all the little bird themes and the Mexican clay plateware for all the dishes. The breakfast cocktail menu was awesome, service fantastic, and the communal share tables were cozy. Can't wait to go back and try some of the pastries.

Excellent in every way. Went for Sunday brunch and had an incredible meal. Various pastries were great especially caramel laced croissant. The house made yogurt was divine.

Celebrating Viernes Chiquito (little Friday)…can’t wait for the weekend to come around! Absolutely yummy and excellent service! We had Esquites, Tamal de cazuela, Las tres damas that was served with tangy green salsa, corn salsa, and red salsa. The drinks were strong and on-point, and the Elote Flan was really good. The real-deal Mexican flavors and attention to detail permeated through every dish. It was truly a delicious experience that we would recommend!

I imagine I won’t be shutting up about this place for months, has definitely fallen into my Top 5 favorite dining experiences in Houston, and I’ve lived here for 30+ years. Tequila menu was extensive and satisfied both the tequila aficionado (studied it in Mexico) and novice. Chuy (apologies for the likely butchering of the spelling) was especially helpful in suggesting a tequila that was perfect for someone more accustomed to sipping whiskey and scotch (first time I’ve ever wanted to savor tequila, I’ll be buying a bottle for home), was knowledgeable about everything on and off the menu, and made the whole experience even better. Perfect interactions with the staff, everyone was lovely and accommodating. Food was delicious (I woke up this morning thinking about the pork belly gorditas, my date devoured the cactus, salsa was next level). We sat at the bar then moved to the patio for more drinks - love the lanterns and fires outside, great date ambiance. Already made plans with friends to go back.

I felt like I was a little girl again eating my grandmas home made food. The cafe de olla, the food, the dessert, everything was amazing!

Highly highly recommended. Amazing flavor and many great options. It’s always a wait to get a table to try getting there a bit early to get a table.

There is not enough stars to rate my experience at Cuchara's. The food was fantastic, and spectacular, different and beyond expectations. Chuy the bar tender ,what a guy. He took really good care of us and always made sure everything was perfect, and It Was. Really Really recommend this place if you're looking for some delicious Mexican dishes in a nice ambiance with the perfect service.

The location is on the corner. They charge to park. There is not any free parking. Cost $6. There is a valet he was not there to park or car. The food is not traditional tex-mex food. Drinks are good and my Gladius were big and flavorful. It was different

The service & ambiance is great here! The margaritas are SO so good and refreshing. Las tres damas (enchilada) dish is delicious. The ceviche and gorditas were also a hit. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is their 5 leches — it’s a bit too dense for my taste. Next time I’ll try a different dessert.
