One Saturday evening I was in the mood for chicken fried steak. I asked Google and happened upon this restaurant in Midtown. The food was good and service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is located in an old converted house on West Gray near Taft. They have a large, covered front porch dining area.

Came here for brunch because we were slow rolling our lives one Sunday morning, not because we were hung over, but because we were just literally busy and not in a rush. We sat on the patio because the weather was so amazing!! In fact, it was a little bit chilly for my Houstonian bones. I ended up getting a tea, and it tasted a bit sour. I don't think it was fresh at all. I ordered the omelette with pico and other stuff. It was so delicious! This place is cool because it's literally open all night long, so if you are needing a late night fix, early morning breakfast or mid-day meal, they got ya back!

It's not what it used to be. I've always ordered to go from here. It's gone drastically downhill. The food isn't as tasty, and they've become careless with packing the food. I've always gotten the chicken fried steak dinner. I said nothing the last time because I thought it was a fluke, but twice in a row now my food has been less than pleasing. I had to dump all the water out of my salad and finish cooking my sweet potato fries in the air fryer last time. This time we got our meals covered in gravy. We had chicken fried mush and soggy gravy covered sweet potato fries. They had always put the gravy in a container on the side. I don't know what happened but thanks for the bag full of gravy.

This is a cute neighborhood diner. The food is similar what you would expect to get at a Dennys or IHOP. Have both breakfast and lunch options. The waitress was super nice and friendly. The food did take a while to come out (close to 20 minutes) but sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and each other's company so were in no rush.

The woman working the phone got my order wrong and instead of apologizing was rude and offered no help. The food I was given was not worth the drive. it’s closer to Denny’s than anything. Would not recommend.

If you’re the type who loves to go out to eat for breakfast and loves breakfast foods any time of day, a good choice of places to dine is Midtown Bar & Grill. This dining establishment serves breakfast all day long and is a favorite of those who can’t get enough eggs, bacon, toast, sausage, etc. Midtown Bar & Grill has an outdoor patio/porch section and an interior which isn’t quite as climate controlled as I prefer. It has been a little warmer than I like on the times I have visited. The dining section is simple, with nothing about it that really stands out. There is a second level too which, I assume, is used for private events. With the food, breakfast is what this establishment is known for, but there is much more than that. You can order soup, sandwiches, entrees, burgers, and so on. They have a full bar, too, so you can have a cocktail or beer with your food, for a complete meal. I have found the food served here generally good. It’s not the best in town, but it is served fast and the prices are more than fair. There have also been occasional mishaps with the service. The last time I was here, I never received the drink I ordered and had to ask my server to adjust the bill. Plus, they mixed up the orders among the people in my dining party. One other positive is parking. They have their own lot, and that means, unlike with some other Houston area restaurants, you won’t have to drive around the neighborhood looking for a place to park. Another tip: The large sign you see next to the parking lot, with Midtown Bar and Grill’s name on it, is placed adjacent to another establishment. Midtown Bar & Grill is on the opposite side of the sign. It’s nice when you find a restaurant that serves breakfast all day long. Midtown Bar & Grill is great for this purpose, but it’s an average restaurant overall. The inconsistent service, plain interior, and other factors add up to an acceptable place for dining in Houston, but nothing more.

Great place located in Midtown! We stopped for brunch and both mozzarella sticks and spinach artichoke dip were amazing and enough for 5 to share. The biscuits with gravy were amazing and enough for 2 to share. The turkey wrap was very filling and full of flavor.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I made an order for me and my co-worker via UberEats and the experience was not pleasant at all. I ordered a "Waffle Breakfast Platter" and "Cheese Grits". My co-worker ordered the "Salmon Platter". To start off, their presentation and portions is not on point and it certainly is not worth the price they ask for. My cheese grits tasted horrible, they did not have flavor. The cheddar cheese was not properly stirred in the grits and it taste like soggy undercooked rice. The scrambled eggs had a funny smell to it and did not taste good at all. My waffle was soggy and they overloaded it with blueberries which was not great at all. My co-worker salmon was way to over seasoned and her sides were not flavorful at all. The only thing that tasted good was my apple juice and my co-workers Sprite. At this point, all I want is a refund for my entire order and nothing else since UberEats finds my experience not good enough to be reimbursed.

Fast and friendly service. We got our food ten minutes, maybe even less than that. They offer a patio and inside option. It was a great day when we went, so we decided to sit in the patio section. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. We went around 11-11:30 in the morning and was at by noonish. The food was enjoyable; however the side of hash brown lacked flavor and crunchiness. That’s my only complaint other than that …I’d go again :)

Now, it’s nothing to look at from the outside or inside. Old furniture, old dishes, etc. However, the service is always on point, the pancakes never fail to be light and fluffy, there always open, and they sell local artwork. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and good early in the morning or you have midnight munchies I highly recommend this place

This was my first time trying out their food. I ordered some food to go. My Philly cheesesteak was so salty and dry. The meat itself tasted like salt crystals. The chicken fried chicken was drowned in white gravy.. which I would suggest ordering it on the side (i thought it would come on the side if it were to go). The wings were pretty soggy.. my suggestion would be gifted the option for breaded or plain wings.

One of those hidden gems you kinda never knew was there. I sat down for breakfast and felt good knowing that most of the people there were regular customers..the food was really good 👍

I have been to midtown bar and grill quite a few times. There's a meeting room upstairs that is a good size and hosts lots of groups. The staff is friendly and the food is great.

First and foremost, I am overjoyed that I discovered this location. I've been in Houston for approximately 7 months and am always on the lookout for new restaurants. Word of mouth is fantastic, but I frequently utilize Google. I've had great success using Google reviews for any type of goods or service. On 12-15-2023, I went there twice. I ordered the BLT for breakfast, which was delicious. Later that evening, I had the morning meal (2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 bacon, and biscuit and gravy). Again, I am delighted to have discovered this location. Will return today for pizza and cocktails...It's impossible to top the pricing, service, and flavor.

We went here on Saturday evening. The place was mostly empty. It’s a really cheap place and you get what you pay for. We ordered a medium-rare steak with a side of mashed potatoes. The steak came completely undercooked, the center was still cold. We asked to replace it and got a slightly reheated version, probably just microwaved. Mashed potatoes tasted like starch mixed with water, terrible texture. Overall would not recommend, unless you want to fill up on cheap food for a dime.

This is a very quaint hole in the wall spot. Extremely friendly service. Food is mediocre, but edible. I'll return to try something else just because I really enjoyed the experience. (Seasoning is a preference, of some, not all)

This establishment is falsely advertised as “killer wings” on several online delivery platforms. I ordered $40+ worth of food, only to receive soggy fries, soggy oddly shaped buffalo wings and lemon pepper wings that tasted like neither of the two basic ingredients. If I could give it negative stars, I would. If the operators are the same as the actual killer wings that shut down in EaDo, give it a rest. You cannot cook wings to save your life. I felt like i was biting into stacked wet cardboard boxes. At least the veggies were crisp. Im so repulsed by the wings, I may report to a health inspector.

I have lived in Houston for years, past by this place thousands of times. Went in for the first time and loved it. They serve breakfast all day! I had the Biscuits and Sausage Gravy and Hash Browns. So absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, even the hash browns. The potatoes tasted fresh. Really delicious. I recommend everyone stop and enjoy the food!

There are good early bird specials. I liked the crispy bacon and pancakes. One of the better breakfast places I have eaten in Houston. I had to grab my own menu and it took the waitress a while to come and take my order. Took about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. The waitress never came back except to deliver the check.

This is a great diner. It used to be open 24/7 but not after COVID. Their secret is chicken soup. A couple bowls of that could cure cancer. Hefty portions.

I just visited this place for the first and last time this morning. We arrived at 8:30am. My friend and I was served lukewarm water in cloudy cups. So we asked for alternative drinks(coffee and orange juice). The Hispanic witness was not pleasant and was not confident in her job duties . My friend asked “how much will it be to add additional toppings” Her response “ 2.00 but I really don’t know, I have to see what the computer says”. It was like pulling teeth to get her to check the actual price. So we ordered the food. Food arrived at 9:14am. My friend took a picture of the food. I looked down and noticed a hair on my pancakes(pictured). We told her it was hair...she act like she didn't see it at first . She Took the plate to the back and came back with it saying I checked the ladies in the the back and its not theirs So we asked where did the hair come from, she say maybe it's yours. I asked how is it mine when my hair is in a ponytail away from my face. You on the hand. No hair net, gloves or mask for that matter with bangs on your forehead. So continue to say we fixing new pancakes while still accusing me putting hair in my food. At this point, I am insulted so I said I was leaving and never coming back because she refused to bring out the manager because she stated she was the manager. I advised her to do better and I would never return.

This place is weird. It popular for breakfast I guess. Its not really a bar. Not really a grill. I don't know but they've been around for a while now

Good dependable food, but the only inspiration seems to show up in the Greek dishes. They have comfort food and fast food favorites. The neighborhood loves this place. Breakfast is served all day.

Food is amazing. I order breakfast from them at least twice a week. Highly recommend the breakfast tacos. The early bird special is also great option. The staff is awesome and this should definitely be a spot on your to go list if your in the area.

The kind of place where you can take your time for a leisurely dinner or breakfast. The onion rings are exemplary and not to be missed. Breakfast options are served all day and into the evening. Excellent patio seating and two indoor seating areas, Complete with a full bar, and a decent Brigade of regulars compliment this fine establishment; with a level of personal attention and service one begins to see this could well be the place where everybody knows your name.
