The bar and vibe itself are great. However the bartender working when I went was so unfriendly. So much that it made me not get drinks ,only my friends did. He was staring at us with the ugliest look on his face and was just plain unwelcoming, almost to a point where you feel uncomfortable. The place is really cool and has a nice vibe to it. Honestly I will not be coming back again but glad I got to see inside at least.

decided to give this place a try and i really liked the vibe! as soon as i entered, it felt like one of the bars in 6th street in Austin. not sure, maybe the layout and the decor. they have a patio at the back which is cozy however people smoke there too. their inside seating was pretty comfortable and the place got crowded real quick on a thursday night. they had cool games and photo booth, overall i think it's a chill spot!

What makes this dive bar unique is its feminist/provocative decoration, extensive whisky and bourbon selection, and the pinball machines in the back. The beer selection was okay. I got to sample one of their dark beers on draft, the B-52, which had a balanced coffee/toasty flavor. Ended up ordering different canned beer to try out but regret no having ordered the B-52 one. It looks like they're dog-friendly, which is always a plus!

Nice eccentric spot with a great whiskey selection and cool pinball machines. The outdoor patio is nice with a big giant kool-aid man in the corner. Would have been 5 stars but couldn’t enjoy over all of the cigarette smoking. Buts it’s a bar so taking nothing away from the establishment itself.

Cool dive spot but the pinball machines are difficult. Maybe I was just drunk. Went on a Tuesday night and was a cool local hang.

My girlfriend and I went to this place while casually walking around Montrose. The man at the bar with the long grey/white hair was incredibly rude. He eyed us in a funny looking way from the minute we sat down. I then proceeded to call him over to place my drink order, we made eye contact and he served the customer next to me, when he didn’t even call him. He was just very weird and I was getting racist vibes from him. However, the female bartender was really sweet. I wanted to say something to him so bad but I was not going to stoop down to his level. If you are a person of color or ethnic background avoid this place! I have never felt so disrespected in public.

Crazy wacky cool joint. Their selection of spirits is actually pretty respectable. We went pretty early but I bet it gets very busy in the evenings.

My significant other and I decided to pop in and grab a drink. First off the Pros: atmosphere in the place is a cozy dive bar type feel. Drinks were decent if a bit pricey (then again it's Montrose). Cons:The bartender was very cold and unwelcoming to us. Almost as if he didn't want to be bothered by us....noticing several other reviews he most GH have issues withe us being an IR couple. I cannot say.

Eccentric divebar with a fabulous whiskey menu! The service is clinical if you aren't a regular which is to be expected. Great place to chill with your friends over rounds of well priced whiskey and beer! Would highly recommend if you're into something less common.

Love love loved Poison Girl. As soon as I walked in I knew I was going to line this place. I’m visiting Houston from Austin and still trying to find my favorite spots in Houston this is definitely one of them. Thank you to the bartender lady. She made delicious diamond and rust cocktails and my friend and I liked it so much we ordered the same thing twice. 10/10

Dive bar feel with really good drinks. The bartenders were great. They even had a way to get coins for the pinball machines without cash. The only suggestion that could have made it better: add somewhere to put a drink while playing pinball. Maybe a small side table between each machine? They also had a communal big spray bottle which was needed for the outdoor area.

Good place to sit and chill, can get a bit busy so grab a seat quick!

I never write reviews but I have to review what happened last night. I had two drinks and then the bartenders announced last call, I knew I didn't need another drink so I ordered a topo Chico. When I tried to leave the bar with my mineral water, the bouncer wouldn't let me. He said no drinks in, no drinks out. It was water. Most bars are happy to help their customers hydrate or watch them leave with a bottle of water. Maybe the bouncer didn't know it was water but he was unyielding and wouldn't listen when I tried to explain it was water. I get the policy for alcoholic beverages, because of containment laws. But this was a bit crazy. I've been going to poison Girl on an off for ten years, and I love the bar but this was bad form on the bouncers part and having taken TABC certification several times it seems quite odd that a bar would not want to help hydrate customers as they leave the bar. Do better. This bar is better than that.

im sorry but one of the female bartdenders.. like every time I come here is so extremely rude and pretentious to EVERYONE! then she’ll talk about the customers behind their backs. The only time I have a good experience here is when she isn’t here haha. other than “THAT” I always feel like I’m at a chill house party.. I love the patio and all the pinball machines. but seriously if you want tips you can stop acting like you’re all that when all you do is work at a bar.. sorry not sorry

Great atmosphere, great drinks. But the a/c could use a little upgrade. Dress comfortably. There is only street parking so be prepared to walk a little or rideshare there.

Nice "classic" pub. Friendly service and very nice atmosphere. Tons of fun with pinball games!

We have been here twice. First time, around 4pm, great vibe. Friendly bartender, good drinks. 2nd time around 9pm, bouncer and bartender were both super rude for no reason. We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Big bummer, we won't be back

I very rarely go out of my way to write a bad review but I feel the need to voice my opinion. This place was recommended several times and tonight I was shock at how bad the service was. The woman that served my party did not acknowledge us for all of the 3 rounds we bought. Literally didn’t say a single word. We were then presented with the option to tip on card for 50%. Are you messing???? I don’t care how cheap the drinks are or how cool the place is you aren’t pulling off poor service as a parody. Sort it out!

It's a great dive bar with an excellent atmosphere. When I was there two old guys (experienced bartenders) were managing a busy crowd easily. The drinks taste great. It's not a place for dancing and blasting music but if you just want to chill and have conversation it's great

Very cool atmosphere. However, a specific female bartender that originally was taking my order while I was asking questions about what they had just walked away. Thankfully there was another female bartender that helped me and took my order. The 2nd bartender was very pleasant and helpful!

OMG!! Most fav dive bar!! We will totally be back!! Pinball machines, tequila, beer! Can’t go wrong!! When you walk-in the bar and pictures say it all!!
